Title: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 12:35:37 PM
It is a weary but victorious group that returns to Hope's Landing. Victory buoys you and yet - your mind keep returning to the light of Chronias. The flares of it, the healing, the protection - and the dreadful beams that erased evil as if it was never there.

As the story of your victory spreads about Hope's Landing: What do you do now?

First things first, he'd like to get a status update on how everyone is doing to make sure he's abreast of everything that happened.

It was mentioned during the battles that somehow the Sultan had an "inside person" helping him -- Moore would also like to try and find out more about that, if possible.

"We're well," Cresiel reports when you ask him, the two of you in the busy courtyard. Beyond the walls there is expansion, within the zone of protection, as well as people working below, expanding basements. It's busy as Cresiel walks with you, towards inside and away from the noise. "How could we not be with this protection?"

"I wasn't sure what sort of trouble you and Xandra might've gotten yourselves into." Moore says with a smile. "Or your parents, for that matter."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 12:55:34 PM
Cresiel gives you a dry enough look to rival a desert's winds.

"We're fine," he says, "We are vigilant in case we are needed."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 12:57:19 PM
"Mm. Still, though... there are some answers I need to look into." Moore says. "Is there anything else going on that needs my attention?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 01:00:57 PM
"I am capable of handling things, as is Grias," Cresiel says, "Answers are why we are here." At that Cresiel pointedly looks up, at the eternal glow of Chronias.

A smile and then a nod. "I'm going to go seek one out. I will return shortly." He says.

Plan here is... well, pretty much just go up until he's directed to wherever it is he needs to go. He'd like to see if anyone has anything more to say on the apparent spy.

As you get up to go, "Moore," Kaja calls, "You got a minute?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 01:06:25 PM
"Of course." Moore says, turning to him. "What can I do for you?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 01:12:16 PM
"That was a great battle," Kaja's smiling, showing so many sharp, white teeth. "We shed blood together, we stopped the efreet together. You are more than a worthy warrior."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 01:14:09 PM
"I'll admit, I wasn't expecting them to even try and attack us here." Moore says with a smile. "You did an excellent job, like always. I'm happy to count you as both a comrade and a friend."

It's at that moment you feel it -a resonation between yourself and Kaja. You feel power flow and...

Node update, go read and reply.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 01:23:59 PM
So noted.

Moore laughs quietly. "We seem to bond more over massive amounts of killing evildoers. I wonder if that's a good basis for a healthy relationshiop."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 01:26:01 PM
"Good?" Kaja's smile turns into a big, sharp grin, "It's the best!"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 01:28:51 PM
"Your enthusiasm is always appreciated." Moore says. "Behave yourself while I'm gone, all right?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 01:35:13 PM
Kaja laughs at that, waving you off.

You fly up - and you do not rise. Instead you come to a lonely cliff, overlooking the beaches far below, and yet if you turn, it has a wonderful view of Chronias, above. It is the only land mark amid a sharp mountainside, smooth as worked glass and steep. That little cliff juts out, as if a single imperfection on the mountainside.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 01:42:57 PM
Isn't this the same (or similar) place that Erathaol took us to pray?

Moore flies out to stand on the edge of the cliff and look up, as if he expects there will be company.

"You know, I used to think the voice I kept hearing was someone from the realm of 'goodness,' or the entity that manifests itself there as a force." He says, clearly talking upwards. "I don't need to know the 'why' of the role I'm playing... I'm happy enough knowing that I'm helping. At the same time, I know that not everyone who escapes from that place finds themselves hearing You." Moore says, as he looks down at the beaches, filled with water.

A pause before he looks up again. "One day, I'd like to understand why, but I don't need to know right now. Right now, I'd like to understand how it'd be possible that someone powerful and noteworthy enough in Celestia could do something so insidious. Or... perhaps, was this a situation where You had an idea, but you needed that person to prove their duplicity?" He asks.

A pause again.

A panicked noise. "I should have more respect when talking to You. Blame my fey nature of speaking honestly." Moore says with a smile as he bows his head.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 01:55:13 PM
Your words carry silently in the peace around this place. There is no reply - yet when you bow your head at the last, you are not along. A dog sleeps here, curled up as if taking a nap here is entirely normal. "It's okay, Moore," Macaron says, a startle as you realize who rests next to you. "We're all watching over you." A happy pant once Macaron looks up, and then, "Pay attention to Wood. He is fond of dogs, so fond that He chose to create the hound archons as they are."

A gentle, slobbery lick to your cheek follows. "But be not afraid. It is not someone currently in Celestia."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 02:02:20 PM
A small jump that relaxes into a smile.

"It's good to see you too." Moore says, leaning over to give him a pet. "Don't worry, you know I have some history with good dogs." A grin follows that.

"Ah, I think I understand. That explains why..." A sound of confirmation as if some pieces fall into place.

A deep breath.

"Make sure none of them get into any unnecessary trouble, okay? Or if they do, let me know and I'll come rescue them." Moore promises.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 02:07:49 PM
"Woof!" Macaron barks, a happy pant before he's gone, leaving you with the light of Chronias.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 02:10:27 PM
Moore stands there for a while longer, just lost in his own thoughts.

"Thank you for always keeping an eye out for me, even though I wasn't born here." Moore says. "Or... maybe I was, in theory, reborn here...?" A shake of his head.

He turns to head back!
Title: Re: Survivors

As you go...

After all, you understand how important the battle for a single soul is.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 02:25:54 PM
Moore smiles and nods.

"I do." He affirms. "Someone has to rescue her."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 02:34:14 PM
Thus you fly down and return home. It's been a long day if nothing else - you're drained. You could use some rest to recharge if nothing else, though you could push on.

Next move?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 02:36:19 PM
If there's nothing else pressing, let's take a nap. In the morning we can tackle the stuff on Calley's notes and see if Melia has anything back from the trader in Brightwater.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 02:46:14 PM
You sleep.

You awaken and sit up, refreshed. You slept well, no nightmares. You simply slept. Wood is curled up at the foot of your bed, snoozing away. On your table is a folded piece of paper.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 02:47:19 PM
Moore reaches over to read the piece of paper!
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 02:59:33 PM
It's a simple message from Grias, telling you that he has information for you when you're awake.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 03:00:39 PM
Moore gives Wood a gentle pet before he cleans himself up and gets dressed to go find his loyal lantern archon.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 03:10:42 PM
Grias is waiting just outside, floating back and forth. "Moore," he calls once you open the door, "Are you feeling rested? There's a lot happening now."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 03:11:55 PM
"I am, yes." Moore affirms. "Please, go on."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 03:17:29 PM
"There's a report Barachiel's sent out about the battle, queries from various groups, news about people joining the war and more," Grias says, "Events are moving!"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 03:20:13 PM
Moore nods.

"All right. Anything we need to report on?" He asks.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 03:28:16 PM
"Oh no, we haven't gotten orders like that yet," Grias says, "Though it's still early - but forces are being rallied, because the efreet are also striking at archon interests, wherever they can get away with it."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 03:33:56 PM
Moore nods. "Very well. Are we still asked to stay here for now?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 03:47:46 PM
"For now," Grias agrees. "The Battle of the Shores is the official name of the battle and it's an victory for us. Forces are being deployed everywhere in case the efreet manage it again."

Clearing his throat after, "First of all, the Authority of Crusades sent her thanks for your valor."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 03:48:43 PM
Moore smiles. "I'll have to visit her when things are a bit less bustling, but if you have the opportunity, please let her know i am grateful."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 03:56:10 PM
"I'll have a message sent," Grias says, "Duke Macin wishes to send his thanks - he participated in the battle and saw the three of you take down that dragon. There's various other messages in that vein. There's more good news - Zaaman Rul's joined the war on our side," Grias says, "He's the Prince of Good Fire Creatures!"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 04:00:48 PM
Moore nods. "It's to be expected. Anyone who sends us any regards, please send them a message they are welcome as a guest of mine here any time they wish."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 04:04:36 PM
"Right! Speaking of good news, Mr. Tepen came by while you rested. He brought over a handful of soldiers who formerly served Aurora, then helped out with the work here with his magic." Grias bobs in the air at that. "Really helpful and nice, I liked him."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 04:09:45 PM
"He's the type of person who can never truly be retired." Moore says with a grin. "We'll have to provide him a proper means of thanks."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 04:14:23 PM
"They're being folded in with the other irregulars," Grias says, floating in place now, "Miss Villisa has called in a few friends who have likewise shown up, all to bolster our ranks. Finally, a few unattached warriors and glory seekers have arrived."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 04:21:26 PM
"Hmm, do you think we need someone to lead them?" Moore asks. "It'd probably be a good idea to have someone tasked with leading, as you call them, the irregulars."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 04:33:53 PM
"That makes sense. Maybe Villisa? She'd be suited for it, being all....chaotic." Grias finally says, as if handling something icky.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 04:38:20 PM
"I'll ask her if she'd like to." Moore says. "Any other news?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 03, 2018, 05:04:19 PM
"That's it for today," Grias says, "Be careful if you go out. It's dangerous for anyone right now!"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 03, 2018, 05:12:36 PM
"It's dangerous to go alone, I understand." Moore says.

With that done, he'll go see Villisa!
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 12:41:30 PM
Villisa is found in the armory - really just a new thing, a room put aside for some weapon and armor storage. She's casually looking over a set of chain mail, inspecting it rather closely.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 12:53:13 PM
"Lady Villisa." Moore starts with. "I have a favor I'd like to ask of you."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 01:03:47 PM
Villisa turns smoothly, looming over you with an enthralling, beautiful smile. "Ah," she says brightly, "Is it about your dear lady love? Wartime weddings are tragic things, too often ending in sorrow, yet provide a happy ending to strive for once peace returns."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 01:06:14 PM
Moore grins a bit. "Alas, nothing so enchanting. I was hoping to ask you to take a position of leadership for the duration of this war, to organize the troops that don't fall under the banner of Celestia. I think they would be better able to coordinate themselves with someone a bit less rigid." His grin smooths out into a plain smile afterwards.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 01:12:01 PM
"Ah, volunteers and auxiliaries." Villisa concludes, "How many are there and where are they all from?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 01:15:21 PM
"We've got some soldiers who used to be part of Aurora, some here just for the sake of glory, and some who've come because of our reputation. Not to mention your friends." He offers a smile after that. "So I'd estimate... probably less than 30 right now, but I imagine that number to grow."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 01:20:03 PM
"Tsch," Villisa murmurs, "What about your fellow pixie, Afina? She'd have us swimming in equipment if what Cresiel says is accurate." Giving you a coy smile, "Do you think she'd come by if you ask?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 01:22:27 PM
"I doubt it." Moore says. "She has her own agenda to fulfill these days. Now, if Gathgorian shows up on the front line leading the efreet? Absolutely." A nod after that. "But do we really need people to forge things? I mean, I suppose if we can handle that sort of thing on our own then it does benefit us to not have the smiths from Jovar working on things... hmm. I could ask Gold if he'd be willing to spend some time here..."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 01:30:32 PM
"Dearie," Villisa says pleasantly, "I've been in wars. You want a few good smiths here, unless the archons are providing everything for you already, including smiths and support."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 01:34:14 PM
"Well, they... kind of are, but there's no reason to not recruit more talent." Moore agrees. "I'll put some feelers out for other options, too."
Title: Re: Survivors

An agreement and from there...

Next move?

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 03:03:57 PM
Moore nods to himself.

I don't have anything else pressing, since I'm waiting on Melia to get back with news from Brightwater. I'll have Grias send a note to Gold to ask him if he'd be interested in spending some time in Hope's Landing as a smith. If not, that is ok, but Moore would appreciate references to other people Gold might reccomend, in that case.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 03:10:41 PM
You're fortunate - it's not long before Melia returns, eating a roll with meat baked right in. She munches on it slowly as she says, "Heard you had an outbreak of war up here. News reached Brightwater this morning."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 03:11:37 PM
"I admit, I wasn't expecting them to try and attack us here." Moore says. "It didn't end up well for them, so there must've been another reason they tried."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 03:23:31 PM
Melia considers a moment or two, a long bite before she says, "Yeah. Grapevine's going crazy about it. So this was just a feint, you think?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 03:30:10 PM
"I do. I think they were hoping for more with it." Moore says. "I think they were testing something, perhaps to see how quickly they could deploy their portals here."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 03:39:37 PM
"Huuuuh." Melia says it slowly, as if chewing on the information. Then she chews on some more bread and meat before, "I also heard from Grias that there's been attacks on Celestia's holdings beyond this realm."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 03:42:35 PM
"One could argue this was a diversion, but..." Moore shakes his head. "That doesn't make any sense at all. Unless they managed to attack some holding of ours that had a key that let them get to Jovar or something, it wasn't worth it."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 04:04:09 PM
"When the enemy does something that doesn't make sense, it means you're the one who needs to catch up," Melia says, "We just don't know the why of what they did." Munching on more of her meal before sitting back, "Which leads right to guessing games. Great way to piss away a night drinking, not so great for forming strategy."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 04:09:48 PM
"Agreed." Moore says. "I imagine they're..." a gesture up above himself at that, "Already working on that. At any rate, what news did you bring back?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 04:17:10 PM
"Yeah, I got a few groups lined up. All of them with good reputations and moral standing," Melia says, "How large a force are you looking for?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 04:20:22 PM
"Nothing too extravagent." Moore says. "Probably nothing more than four or five talented individuals, if possible."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 04:34:59 PM
"Heartsband will do. A paladin of Tyr leads them and they're all good sorts." Melia says, "They will insist on payment if you can afford to pay, and you can. There's a 2,000 gold pre payment and then 500 gold a week. They get any treasure they scavenge."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 04:38:16 PM
"If they recover anything that belongs to Celestia, they'll be compensated for it." Moore says. "That's fine, send them word when you can. Did you hear anything back from Silverbrow or the gentleman with the ring in Brightwater?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 04:51:16 PM
"Yeah, that's the problem. From what I heard and was told, Sisatar's missing," Melia says, "I get the impression that they're quietly panicking as they try and track him down. Bad timing for sure."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 04:53:02 PM
"...Tch, that can't be a coincidence, especially with that other person who came to me with a poisoned letter." Moore says. "I'll reach out to them, but put the rest of your duties on hold. I'm going to reassign you to look into this. Sisatar isn't the type of person who just goes missing."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 09:57:56 PM
"Yeah, and it's gonna be a hard hunt. Those dragons have thrown every divination they have at it, I'd bet." Melia agrees, finishing off her meal. "No way in hell it's a coincidence if he's known as a supporter of anyone related to this war."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 10:06:22 PM
"I don't doubt it." Moore says. "All the more reason. Finally, anything on that guy being willing to trade the ring?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 10:16:01 PM
"He's interested in meeting you about it - once the war finishes. He's not willing to risk himself until then, he has interests he doesn't want to face possible reprisals." Melia shrugs, "He's not opposed to careful intermediaries."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 10:21:22 PM
Moore nods. "That's fine. Anything else?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 04, 2018, 10:27:18 PM
"That's it," Melia says, "I'll get Heartsband over here as soon as I can pass them word, I'll need the 2,000 pre payment. Everything else is lost to the new news about the war, and who's going to get involved." Hopping up to her feet now, "Make sure the the kitchen crew doesn't die before I get back? I want to get this recipe."
Title: Re: Survivors

Moore hands over the money!

2000 gold, will note it in loot.

Once that's done, he will prepare a Sending for Ruby.

'I heard about Sisatar. I would like to help. Please come to Hope's Landing when you can.' Moore sends to her!

Title: Re: Survivors

The reply is simple: 'Thank you. We will be in touch as events permit.'
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 10:39:14 PM
Moore nods. Not much to be done about that until they reach out to him.

For now, he'll see if there's anything else that needs doing!

Side note, the people in the node need to talk about the jewelry from the battle. Can be done OOC if you want, not a big deal to me.

I don't know how to respond to that.

I don't know if any of them would use the items, as I wouldn't myself.

The elemental fire ring is interesting, but I don't see it having much use for anyone, for example.

"Domiel's slayers want me to help them in assassinating a dragon who supports the efreet," Kaja says, "Our work got attention."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 11:41:12 PM
Moore taps his chin.

"I'll allow it on one condition. You promise you'll come back to me in one piece, alive." Moore says. "And, obviously, that you come back in the first place." He smiles. "I don't want you being head-hunted."
Title: Re: Survivors

The smile you get is all teeth, a faint wisp of gray smoke coming from between them. "You may wish to pass that on to Lord Erathaol. There are many who need someone who can do that to a dragon or other evil-kin. Best to have it be known that it is his territory and not to be poached from."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 11:47:42 PM
A harrumph as Moore runs a hand through his hair in a melodramatic fashion.

"I'll make sure it's settled." Moore says with a smile. "You know, you would have an easier time of success if I just went with you."
Title: Re: Survivors

"Can you?" Kaja asks, chuckling, "Or are you previously spoken for here? The letter did only request my presence."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 04, 2018, 11:55:43 PM
"Then why don't we go ask Lord Domiel himself?" Moore asks, with a smile. "I'm actually in the process of having some tools created for communication, so this is as good as any time to have them made."
Title: Re: Survivors

Title: Re: Survivors

Doesn't ring a bell, oddly enough. If it's someone, they're either painfully obscure, not known at all, renamed or something otherwise obscuring their identity.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 12:33:18 PM
Moore frowns.

"I've never heard of them before." Moore says, not going into the myriad of possibilities that this could be a ruse right now. "Where did they ask you to go to meet up with them?"
Title: Re: Survivors

"At a village named Heirel in Mercuria," Kaja says, looking up. "I'll have an escort find me shortly after I reach Mercuria."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 12:44:35 PM
"One moment." Moore says. He casts a quick spell!

Hopefully he won't be offended by hearing this...

Limited Wish to mimic Sending.

'Lord Domiel, this is Duke Moore. I apologize for the sudden message. One of my comrades received a letter of request from a 'Madeliel,' who I've never heard of. Are you able to verify their identity and their request?'
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 05, 2018, 12:47:29 PM
In a few moments a gentle, restful voice sounds in your mind. 'I am Rest. All in proper order, Duke Moore. Consider this the verification you requested, as Lord Domiel is occupied.'
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 12:50:30 PM
So either this is some horribly elaborate ruse that involves subverting magic in Celestia, or it's the real deal.

'Thank you, Rest.' Moore responds.

"All right." Moore says. "I have the information we need, or at least the verification that this isn't just some bizzare trap." A smile afterwards. "Let me go tell Cresiel he's in charge while I'm gone and we'll get this going."

Title: Re: Survivors

The rise to Mercuria is without incident. In minutes of flying along, a figure approaches. A trumpet archon, raising his hand in greeting as he soars towards you. A relatively short one, almost dwarven with how compact his body is. "Sir Kaja!" he calls. "Ah....Duke Moore?" he adds as he comes closer, into conversational range.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 01:14:36 PM
"Hello." Moore greets him with a smile. "I know Kaja was the one that was requested, but I thought it made sense for me to accompany him and this mission. You'll all have a better chance of success with me supporting you than you would without me here." He explains.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 05, 2018, 01:33:35 PM
The archon stops here, "That's most irregular," he says, "I'm supposed to only take Kaja ahead."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 01:37:16 PM
"I'm curious as to why that is." Moore says. "Am I not allowed to oversee the actions of my own?"

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 05, 2018, 01:56:15 PM
You can tell he's telling the truth - just genuinely uncertain and confused.

"No, the mission requires a certain degree of stealth and discretion. We do not normally spread word of what we do beyond ourselves and any brought in for a mission," The archon explains, frowning slightly, "I trust you understand the reasons for that, Duke, but I would be happy to explain if you desire clarification."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 02:00:03 PM
"No, it makes sense." Moore says with a smile. "Please don't take my being here as an offense, I just thought that if I could offer my own aid it would be beneficial to you all. I don't mind offering my services to you before you actually go, so that you can all have the benefits without my actually being there for secrecy reasons."

A smile after that. "I won't be offended if the answer is still no, I promise."

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 02:29:15 PM
Moore nods. "Most of what I have doesn't last that long." A smile and a shrug. "I'm sure you all have your own people who can help out. Tell you what, if you ultimately can spare the few moments for me to do my thing before you go, I can go somewhere, set everything up and leave, and you can all pass through without me even knowing you arrived. That way I can still be useful without compromising anything."
Title: Re: Survivors

A smile and a nod.

"Oh, there is one thing I can do, at the very least." Moore says, as he flies over to tap both of them once. "Keep yourselves, safe, all right?"

Title: Re: Survivors

It reads as follows.

Duke Moore, this evening, you will be dispatched to crush an efreet wizard's outpost and bring him back alive. His name is Abdel the Flameseeker and resides in Magma. Take all needed precautions. He is a skilled abjurer who we believe is providing aid to the enemy. Bring dispelling magic and force of arms to overcome his guardians, believed to be various types of golems. He is reclusive and reinforcements are unlikely, though not impossible.

"We don't have Kaja for this operation, so just be aware of that." Moore says.

So let's have Jetina do the following:

Celestial Valor: +8 sacred vs fear and emotion effects that would sap the will to fight, +4 sacred to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, armor class and saving throws, weapons count as holy (31m)
Mass Energy Immunity (Fire)

Moore will cast the following:

Haste (CL 30) +1 attack rolls, armor class and reflex saves, extra attack on a full attack, +30 enhancement bonus to movement speed. (31r)
Life's Grace (CL 20) Immunity to death effects and ability drain, treat armor as ghost touch - 200m
Surge of Hope (CL30): +4 morale bonus to attack, saves, skills - 31m
Fortunate Fate (CL20): Heal (150) cast if reduced to 0 or less hit points.

Righteous Halo (CL20): +4 Sacred to Charisma
Foresight
Ray Deflection
Greater Improvisation

He'll toss up all his songs, so everyone gets a total of the following bonuses, these are combined with Jetina's.

Attack: +35
Weapon damage: +26
AC: +16 (4 sacred, 12 dodge)
Saving throws: +16 (4 sacred, 12 morale)
Improved Crit Feat, +15 to threat confirmation rolls.

I'll do spoilers before evening session, since we probably won't quite get to it before pausing here.

"That'll hurt our offense, we'll need to work closer together, Cresiel declares, "I will protect any that need protecting."

As Cresiel stands there, tall and true, Jetina smiles, "And I'll fix anyone up, so you can concentrate on throwing your strongest spells out, Xandra."

"Only if Moore keeps supporting us," she says, "With all of that, we'll be fine without Kaja."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 04:34:48 PM
"Cresiel, Xandra, you two may have to use more martial matters, but I'll see what I can do about swinging a blade as needed myself." Moore says. "We'll be fine, either way."

This is a DM note for the future, Moore would've sent off the Teleport Blocker to get fixed. It's totally fine to say it hasn't been fixed yet since I just now am mentioning it, but I did want to at least bring it up as it is important!
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 05, 2018, 04:46:22 PM
Certainly, it's in the proverbial shop. Bring it up after you get back.

"I plan to," Cresiel says, "We are all capable, let us not lose sight of that in face of Kaja's gifts."

Here Jetina adds with a hand on her hip, "I feel like a child playing at war when I fight next to him."
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 05, 2018, 04:47:56 PM

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 05, 2018, 10:22:22 PM
At the appointed time, a trumpet archon descends. He is tall, willowy, not built at all. A gentle body, perhaps, yet he wears a massive greathammer on his back.

"Duke Moore?" The celestial asks as he lands, voice strong, belying his body. "I will provide more information if you need it as well as transportation."

"That's right," Cresiel says, "This is in Magma, do we need any other preparations other than warding against fire?"

"Not that we know of, but a wizard's home is bound to have surprises. He resides on a sprawling manor, including barns, servant housing and storage. It burns.

Everything burns.

You stand amid simmering rock and boiling magma.

A cave, of reds like the inside of an oven heated too far. A path slopes upward, up towards an exit. The scent of sulfur and gas is thick here, as your guide points ahead, "Head straight north. There's a marker just outside of the cave to guide you. It won't be too far," he says.

You step out and the moment the flames hit you - OW!

> roll 2d6
<Penuche> Kotono invokes Penuche's magic: < 5 > [d6=1,4]

Whatever those flames are, they burn you like your magic isn't there. You reflexively flutter back to cover, shaking off your singed hand.

Cresiel brings his shield up to protect you, give you more between you and the rain. "That's more than the normal fire here," he observes.

> roll 1d20+44
<Penuche> Kotono invokes Penuche's magic: < 60 > [d20=16]

"I've heard of this - blue flames that burn hotter than the rest of Fire, so hot that they can burn even fire elementals. Rare."

Xandra bows her head, "Also not natural." She closes her eyes, "I can see....it is indeed not natural. It is provoked."

To be clear here, asking for a Knowledge check would've helped. Likewise, it's not magical. It's just one of the strange things an elemental plane can do.

"Can we have some sort of barrier above us to block it?" Jetina says, "Cresiel and I could use our shields and Moore could cling to Cresiel to avoid the fire, but that still leaves Xandra." Jetina looks up at the blue and white flames, falling steadily. "We could try waiting it out, but if it's being caused by something, it may not stop soon or at all." Frowning at this, "If I recall, most of Magma is liquid or a sludgy solid. We'd need specialized abilities to tunnel effectively."

Song of Life, everyone gets Fast Healing 12.

"We'll just teleport through it, we may get a bit burned here and there but we shouldn't be exposed long enough." Moore says.

"Be ready, shields out," Cresiel calls, his own up over you. Jetina follows suit as you blink - into a field of stone and magma, roiling. The blue fire is falling thicker here, heavier, making it harder to see and cutting down visibility. But far above there is no sky, but the ever distant roof of a cavern. The blue-white fire falls from that roof, leaking down copiously.

"GO!" Cresiel calls as...

Ref all. Everyone but Xandra gets a +4 circumstance bonus from shields.

The rains burn and char, but shields hold long enough. You cast again, stepping even closer. The rain's still falling here, but far on the horizon, obscured by the rain, you can make out something. Buildings, like shadows amid a bone-melting rain of flame.

"Keep going!" Xandra cries.

Wise.

You can breathe, in spite of the air being thick with horrid gasses here. It's like trying to breathe in death, yet you handle it with grace and ease, not even slowed. Ahead perhaps 1000ft or so is the outer bounds of a manor, surrounded by a vast fenced in area with several buildings around it. All around it, that yard is shot through with rivers of burning magma - and more, but you don't have time to linger on admiring the desire - blue fire's still raining down.

"Forward?" Cresiel calls, as...

Intent is one more Dimension Door, taking us into the mansion. If I'm gauging it as 'about 1000' feet, then I'll make the DD be 1020 -- the idea is basically to just be right inside as if we used the front door. Risky? sure is!

All negate but Xandra, who takes half.

You appear in a dark room, light from a torch on either wall. It's big enough for the four of you comfortably, hewn of black stone on all sides. No doors are about. Huh, that's not what you expected.

As you stand there, the floor sinks down slightly with a loud CLICK, followed by the sound of squeaky hinges groaning from above you.

"Really." Moore says. He looks up and gestures, not feeling like dealing with this.

Wall of Stone, he's just going to cover the obvious trap with more stone walls in order to jam it up and stop it from functioning.

Also, everyone should totally just be flying!

Teleport spells have to put you on solid ground or something that supports you, it's part of the subschool description. It's why you generally can't teleport someone into open air or into a lava pool. Exceptions exist, but a standard dimension door would abide by that.

You get a glimpse of electricity, crackling purple-yellow before your wall stops it. Your wall is crawling with visible boltage, but it's holding for now.

Xandra takes a breath, "I think we were diverted," she says, looking about at the dimly lit room, "There's no way in or out except for teleporting."

"Likely." Moore says. "Jetina, would you?"

Jetina will cast Heal to top off Xandra.

"I'm not sure we can just get out by teleporting again. Won't we just get diverted back here?" He asks.

"It might be so, depending," Cresiel admits, "We're going to have to do this the hard way." He hefts his hammer, "Though...we may well hit molten magma or lava rather than finding freedom, which poses difficulties."

Besides Abdel's Manor (the official name for it, apparently), there's not much in any direction. Just wastelands and burning magma. If you go about 20 miles to the west you'll find a sea of magma, though.

You get a distinct sense this place is isolated.

Casting Haste, mainly for the +30 movement speed. CL31, 31/r.

He is then going to DD everyone 1000 feet south of the manor, since he knows that's safe. From there, everyone is just going to have to hoof it, or something along those lines. Probably be double-moving or running or flying or whatever. That's the plan, anyway.

Flying, actually. Assuming one can do that and still get the effects of 4x movement.

I will provide numbers assuming that is and is not the case.

Cresiel is 150+30 x 4 = 720 if flying, 50+30 x 4 = 320 if running.
Xandra is 90+40 x4 = 520 if flying, 40+30 x4 =280 if running.
Jetina is 30+30 either way, 240.
Moore is 60+30 = 360 if flying, and 200 if running. If it has to be running and not flying, Moore will just grab onto someone.

Note to self, we need to find a way to get Jetina more movement speed.

You rush in - it's a long hall, about 15ft wide and 30ft long, 15ft tall. It's decorated plainly, little more than stone - save for the two stone statues, 10ft tall, of humanoids. One is a human with a sphere in hand, while the other has no weapon, instead looking straight ahead.

Of course, a moment later they lurch and begin to move, advancing on the party. It's a battle!

You open a hole - and a few inches past the stone, a layer of what looks like some kind of gray metal blocks you cold. Faint, tiny runes can be glimpsed on it, various designs on it that seem to suck in the light, twisting around and around as if falling into black holes.

Chance to react to that.

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 07, 2018, 02:01:34 PM
As is perhaps predictable on golems, the cone of cold does nothing to them. Nothing at all, not even freezing them a little bit.

Question answered. Golems are up.

The globe carrying golem holds position, slinging his globe at Cresiel. It soars out, connected to an iron chain that sails out with iit, coming out from a hole in the golem's palm.

> roll 1d20+40
<Penuche> Kotono invokes Penuche's magic: < 59 > [d20=19]

Yet Cresiel's shield holds, not even knocking him back. The globe suddenly has dozens of sharp, nasty looking spikes poke out of it when it hits, but nonetheless Cresiel holds. Meanwhile the other lurches forward, right at the blocking solar. It comes forward, and as it does, it blows yellow smoke out, spreading across the room.

Fort saves, all. This is poison, note if immune.

Second question, these golems appear to be made of stone? Not iron/clay/whatever?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 07, 2018, 03:45:13 PM
Whoops, you are correct. That's +104 damage, I'll redescribe. The golems are indeed made of stone.

Each blow hits the golem hard, cracks and dents made in it, slamming him back with a steady, workmanlike power as...

Go ahead, you two.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 07, 2018, 03:48:29 PM
Another question: how does Sandalphon's Amazing Barrage work? I assume you have to actually have line-of-sight to see things to hit them?

Jetina decides to try something and gestures towards the golem that Cresiel is attacking!

She's trying Stone to Flesh. I... don't know if it gets a special pass, but maybe??
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 07, 2018, 04:01:10 PM
It depends on how good the magic immunity they have is. If they're normal stone golems then yes, if they're more improved or custom it's one of those things you have to find out the hard way.

The golem twists and shudders, suddenly stone turning to dull, peach colored flesh. It looks lumpier, far softer than before.

As a matter of fact, it does in the stone golem's writeup. Xandra.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 07, 2018, 04:06:04 PM
I mostly meant that if she cast it from here, would it hit everything within the radius, even though she can't see it? It's a force spell (per your rework) with no SR check, so I don't imagine their immunity would work, but I was more concerned with actually hitting everything in the area than the damage, if that makes sense?

Since she's close enough... down comes her Xandra's sword!

Sonic damage. You're also deafened.

A flare of pain in your ears, warm wetness trickling out from them. A burst of noise and then pain and silence, not a word heard. The world is a silent masterpiece now, sound lost in the echo of sheer pain.

He's going to hold for Jetina's turn and will take action when he notices the golem go fleshy.

Jetina will use cure minor wounds to get rid of the deafness due to healing hands and stuff. :D!

You fly up. This looks to be a sitting room of sorts - another couch faces you, along with a door north and a door west, both shimmering with blue fields of force, only visible to your true seeing enhanced eyes.

Beyond that, there's a center table right by the edge, a few books on it. A side liquor cabinet can be seen, a variety of bright, colorful liquids housed within.

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 10, 2018, 02:35:20 PM
The walls of force are custom walls of force. Not only do they have all the properties of wall of force, anyone who touches or attacks one is teleported 5ft in a random direction.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 10, 2018, 02:36:45 PM
Would it stand to reason that disintegrate still just gets rid of them, what with them also having the normal properties?
Title: Re: Survivors

Yes, but it would count as attacking one and result in the teleportation, even if it destroys it.

Title: Re: Survivors

"Nice try." Moore murmurs. He taps himself once.

I'm assuming I can just auto-fail the check for this, so I am now affected by Dimensional Anchor.

"Now then..." He says as he gestures.

Unbinding, assuming that that would, in fact work on them from the previous checks. If Unbinding wouldn't work then let me know and I'll anchor Xandra instead.

Cresiel smashes down hard, knives broken - three, but the gem is untouched. He's also big enough to block the view of it, though at least it would have to go through Cresiel to get to any of you.

You can't see what happens, but Cresiel holds his shield up and lurches forward, blocking and defending, the clang of metal on metal a constant song as...

Xandra.
Title: Re: Survivors

Xandra moves forward and thrusts a hand out around Cresiel!

Intent is to Greater Cone of Cold here, around Cresiel to hit the knives and gem. If that's not possible she'll, uh... well I guess just skip the turn since she can't see anything!

She can't really get around him, Cresiel's blocking the entire doorway and his putting his shield out there. It's keeping the knives back, but it's also blocking the way rather completely. Solars aren't tiny.

Init is Moore (55) > Jetina (39) > Cresiel (34) > Knives (29) > Xandra (23)

So noted. I admittedly am not sure how anyone can contribute right now, but if you have suggestions I am all ears.

"I can definitely say I didn't expect to be fighting kitchenware." Moore says, as he digs around in his Haversack for a moment to produce a harp.

Song of Bane Strike -- everyone gets to treat their weapons as if they have the 'Bane' property against anything they attack.

Jetina doesn't have much to add so will continue to root for Cresiel.

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 10, 2018, 10:56:00 PM
For what it's worth, this is Cresiel's idea so the knives don't get to fly about and attack wildly in here. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's what he'd do.

Cresiel holds position and brings his hammer down, again and again.

It's an iron golem - and quite possibly an improved one, by the way it moves and looks. Yes, definitely an improved one. Watch out for magic immunity, strong physical attacks and usually one-two other tricks. For a standard iron golem, this is a cloud of poisonous gas.

Moore flies back, dodging a sword swipe. It's fast and ignores the door frame like it's not there, but you're faster. Cresiel merely steps forward, a grim look on his face as...

Blow after blow buffets the golem, poundings its chest as Cresiel grunts, "We should have brought adamantine," he calls, as...

Spider golem is up.

Meanwhile, the spider golem is fully up now, a smooth nozzle-hole in its front opening up, before strands of bright green webbing fly at the party.

The webbing flies true, only Moore able to rise up above it as hits all of them. Webbing expands and entombs the three, cocconing them in sizzling green webbing head to toe. They're caught in it, not a speck of them uncovered.

They're held by the webbing, an Escape Artist check or Strength check can be tried on their turns to escape. The webbing's scalding them with acid, too. Fun times. Cresiel is immune to acid, at least.

Xandra and Jetina are up.

[spoiler]

Fortunate Fate (CL20): Heal (150) cast if reduced to 0 or less hit points.

Righteous Halo (CL20): +4 Sacred to Charisma

He'll toss up all his songs, so everyone gets a total of the following bonuses, these are combined with Jetina's.

Saving throws: +16 (4 sacred, 12 morale)

Jetina is able to free herself with a cry, while Xandra isn't quite strong enough to escape.

The iron golem defends itself, not attacking the enwebbed Cresiel, letting him (supposedly) burn alive under acid webbing.

I have a technical question. If Moore used Song of the Elements, would Moore have an idea as to whether the acid/cold/fire/electricity damage would function at all?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 11, 2018, 03:34:35 PM
How so?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 11, 2018, 03:36:02 PM
Well, I guess I'm asking if it counts as magical damage and bypasses golem immunity or not.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 11, 2018, 03:39:22 PM
It would work, in the same way that magical weapons still deal normal damage to them.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 11, 2018, 03:42:00 PM
O K.

Moore makes a quick incantation to empower everyone around him!

Any weapon attacks they make deal an extra 2d6 points of acid damage, 2d6 points of cold damage, 2d6 points of electricity damage and 2d6 points of fire damage in addition to all the other things everyone's weapons to now. : )

Moore doesn't have anything else to do this turn.

Weapon ablaze with power, Cresiel raises his hammer and strikes, slamming down again and again on the already dented iron golem.

Yet the sword is blocked as it falls, collapsing with the din of broken metal. Got it! "A dumb brute, just a golem," Cresiel calls, turning.

The spider golem skitters away already as it withdraws, scampering back to the edge of the hole back to the first floor.

Xandra'n'Jetina. Go. It used the withdraw action to avoid AoO.
Title: Re: Survivors

Xandra and Jetina move back near Cresiel to get out of the hallway once he can move!

No point in chasing it.

Moore will throw up a Wall of Stone over the door the spider golem went through and then proceed past Cresiel into the room on his turn.

Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 11, 2018, 04:13:17 PM
The way back is sealed by solid stone, blocked off.

The room ahead is a viewing room. Art of all kinds is about, from paintings, to golden artifacts to tapestries, to carvings to dozens of other things, from the plain but well made to the gem encrusted and princely. There's a door to the north here.

Also a wrecked iron golem, for what that's worth.

Aww, I was hoping the Unbinding from the other room would've hit it. :(

Moore huffs, then snaps off another Unbinding at the wall.

"Xandra, I may have to dimensionally anchor you if we run into more of these." Moore says. "This is really an annoyance, more than anything else."

A short hall leading to a landing, stairs going down. There's a door ahead, decorations about as well as busts of various figures, all humans and exquisitely carved.

Ahead is a set of double doors, nicely decorated and inlaid with gold filigree. At the far end is another door, leading deeper in.

"Next time we attack the abjurer in a nastier way," Cresiel agrees.

So there are 3 doors?

The door ahead, double doors, and then a door further along?

Moore will go to the double doors to open them.
Title: Re: Survivors

Correct.

A small ball room - fancy, nice and with polished floors. It's empty, save for a single table. This is where an efreet, bald and with gold loop earrings, awaits you. A single golem, made of gleaming, polished mithral, stands behind him. He's wearing a fur cape and heavy clothes, 20ft away. He gives the party a look over, "You could have knocked," he says, blandly.

Title: Re: Survivors

"Your confidence is inspiring." Moore says. "Unfortunately, I've been asked to bring you back with me. We've already been through your other golems, and I've already survived and been able to overcome people like Commander Nasir. Unless you believe yourself and your golems to rival that of him and his own allies, I really suggest you simply surrender. I already know about the teleportation tricks, so I know exactly where you'll end up if you leave, and we already warded that against further teleportation, so you'll just be trapped there. Surrender." Moore says, face serious.

I imagine I need a bluff check against the totally obvious lie there but it also may be irrelevant since he's probably just going to attack us anyway. :(

"You're not knocking me out," the efreet growls, taking up a defensive position.

This is a mithral golem. They are fast, powerful, have stunning blows and benefit from an upgraded freedom of movement spell. They're also always hasted, having wind-like speed. Two more blows manage to hit, a shoulder blow that dents the mithral and then a swing to its head, distorting it as the entire golem is knocked momentarily aside. At this it suddenly withdraws to the back of the room - where the floor simply opens up, dropping it out of sight.

Moore turns his attention to the slumbering efreet.

"Did you gain any insight as to where Abdel is?" Moore asks Xandra. "If not, I think we may have to ask our lying friend here."

Take 10 on K:A for 90, the word 'clone' seemed rather specific. Can I take a guess as to whether this is just some sort of construct that looks and acts 'human?' I'm also going to take 10 on Spellcraft for 82, he's also going to Detect Magic on this guy.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Anastasia on December 12, 2018, 10:03:56 PM
In theory it could be a clone spell, but those usually are inert until the person's normal body passes, at which point the clone is inhabited. This is likely some blend of that, a simulacrum and custom work.

"Hiding here," Xandra says, "Below, like a rat."
Title: Re: Survivors

Moore gestures at the body.

Antimagic Ray, I'm assuming it just succeeds?

"Now... do we leave it here?" Moore asks the others. "I could question it, but I don't know if it'd serve us any purpose."

The ray seems to have worked - whatever this is, mere antimagic isn't stopping it. It's likely something more permanent, like a clone that's actually alive.

"We'll just deliver both of them." Moore says. "He should be asleep for a while anyway."

"Xandra, would you make some more room for us below here?" Moroe asks.

Idea is for us to go down to the floor the golem went to, then try disintegrating the floor to make a hole to see if there's a "basement" as it were.

Done and done. The party hops on down. This room is quieter, darker. There's not much in here, only a single door leading to the east. On a glance there's an old table in here, a cabinet with glass and a stack of what looks like old linens.

"Careful," Jetina warns, "You could still drown in lava." You fly down. Inside is a small, narrow hollow, with a door to the north, door to the east and door to the west. They are the only added things here, carved out of the glowing, red hot stone here.

Cresiel lands, "On guard," he warns, "A cornered rat will bite as hard as it can."

As you try it, Xandra comes forward, "They open to magma," she says, gently. "All of them do. Even if we open them, we have to be able to deal with that."

The door and wall around it are gone. Lava pours in, hissing and hot, falling down into the pool below. It flows and flows, the pool below slowly rising. This goes on for a little bit, until the pool almost reaches the door level. Almost. Perhaps knee deep lava remains in the passage beyond, but it looks manageable, if glowing hot.

The door is vaporised, the way within revealed. Ahead you can see room full of neatly stacked shelves of jars, each with various things within. Metals, powders, plants, animal parts, fluids and hundreds of other things are here.

It's a rather large room, tall indeed. A 20ft golem of steel is here. As you stand there, the stomach of it ripples open like liquid, revealing a face. An efreet's face, gaunt and annoyed, "Why won't you leave me alone?!"

We'll walk through it. Does it mention being made of any particular material? Otherwise, see here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/exploration.htm#breakingAndEntering

Note the rule that says for each +1 enhancement bonus of the weapon, it's +2 hardness and +10 hit points.
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 13, 2018, 03:00:01 PM
Ah! My apologies.

No, it was never mentioned as being made of anything special. The original description was as follows:

Refrain is a small rapier+2, keen.

In that case, it's a +4 rapier, so it has base 10 hardness and base 2 hp, it's +4 so... that's 18 hardness (that is bypassed) and 42 HP, so with 6 damage that leaves it at 36/42.

EDIT: I lied, the HP is 1 since its' small, so 41. So 35/41

He reaches into his shirt and pulls out a golden amulet, tearing it off his neck and hurling it out, "Leave!" Throwing it right at you.

Which hits you and does nothing. Whoops.

Dimensional anchor foils his teleport object so no bothering with the attack roll.

Moore, go.

Moore takes in a breath and flies over, attempting to put his rapier against Abdel's neck.

"This is your last chance to surrender, before our weapons pierce you instead of your disgusting creations, and you come back with us alive and with holes in you." Moore says.

I'm not sure what sort of roll this calls for with regards to attack here.

The efreet stares up at you, your tiny rapier at his throat. His eyes travel to Cresiel nearby as well and gives you a look like poison, "I yield," he grinds out.

"Great." Moore says. "Now tell me how to deactivate all your golems. I'm sure there's a command word you instilled in all of them."

No reply, then Cresiel simply hefts his hammer, staring down at him.

With a breath, "Sissazz." Abdel looks up, not even hiding his glare.

Moore turns and shouts. "Sissazz!"

He then turns to look and see if the spider golem stops trying to get past the wall of force!

The spider golem comes to a stop, no longer fighting against it.

Free act.

"I appreciate your understanding. Now, I'm going to put you to sleep. I suggest you don't resist." He warns him. "Also, if there's a third one of you running around, I'm going to be very angry."

Limited Wish for higher-level Sleep, yadda yadda.

Perhaps out of fear or simply knowing he is defeated, Abdel does not resist, falling aslumber.

Jetina lowers her blade, "A good day's work. Are we going to linger?"

Cresiel frowns, "We should have asked him how to stop that damnable rain or disable the teleportation defenses."

"It's fine, we'll just deal with it." Moore says. "But yes, I do intend to take everything here for re-distribution to Celestia. I especially want to free the souls of the slaves who are stuck in these golems. For right now, we'll retrieve the other Abdel and give them to Celestia. After that, I have a quick rendezvous I've been asked to attent to by Lady Seira about something. While I'm doing that, I'd like the three of you to come back here and investigate it, I'll join up with you all after that."

Grab them, go back, drop off and come back now, if that makes sense. Moore will be joining them later, though yes.

Okay, assuming getting out goes without difficulty, how are you planning on getting past the rains?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 13, 2018, 10:46:02 PM
I admittedly just figured Gate would work to get us out, since we haven't actually tried it. If it doesn't, then Moore will use his Lyre of Building to just build a pathway from the house all the way back to the cave that they can use to get through, at least to get out. Getting back may be a challenge if the building doesn't stay up but we can worry about that later.

The trip back to the front of the manor is without incident. All that's ahead is the rains from here.

Since it's been a while, here's the specs on the Lyre:

The lyre is also useful with respect to building. Once a week, its strings can be strummed so as to produce chords that magically construct buildings, mines, tunnels, ditches, etc. The effect produced in 30 minutes of playing is equal to the work of 100 humans laboring for 3 days. Each hour after the first, a character playing the lyre must make a DC 18 Perform (string instruments) check. If it fails, she must stop and cannot play the lyre again for this purpose until a week has passed.

Idea will be to make a nice.. mm, basically just a giant tunnel that goes straight away from the house. Hopefully it'll be reinforced enough with stone and things that it can endure the rain for a while.

I suppose he could also go underground, but what with it being Literally The Plane of Magma that feels like a Bad Idea.

Post by: Anastasia on December 13, 2018, 11:10:26 PM
Okay. What will this tunnel be made of?
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 13, 2018, 11:21:47 PM
Boy, isn't that a great question. I have no idea.

Take 10 on K:A for 90 and take 10 on K:A&E for 77. What would make a material that can withstand the fire? I mean, the lyre doesn't seem to specify I can't just... pick something, so I'd do some sort of stone that can withstand extreme heat, if there is one.
Title: Re: Survivors

You'd need something strong, plentiful and proven to endure the rains. Hmm. You need to lay your hands on something like that.

Post by: Nephrite on December 13, 2018, 11:32:54 PM
I'm afraid you lost me with that. Do you mean 'you need to find something that will work'?
Title: Re: Survivors

As you wrestle with this question, "Could you use just a little of the stone here?" Jetina suggests, "Enough to cover us as we hurry? Or would that be too dangerous?"
Title: Re: Survivors
Post by: Nephrite on December 13, 2018, 11:35:52 PM
"Oh... no, of course that would work." Moore says. "The stone here is already not showing any signs of being affected."

Well then, yes, just make a tunnel / covering with the stone that's right beneath them about 1200 feet long.
