Hell of a time!

« on: June 27, 2010, 04:06:36 pm »

I'm looking to run a game in an unspecified system for a vague amount of time - a few weeks is what's being talked about. A lot of people lately have asked me about gaming and have been interested. Post here if you are so I can get a head count.

I'm up for it, provided timing works out.

If you run some big 8+player forum post mashup, I'm in for it.

1. Zeph
2. Ebiris
3. Tehan
4. Corwin
5. Merc.
6. Shevmo
7. Iddy
8. Carthrat.
9. Laggy.

Three things to talk about now.

First of all it's a matter of scheduling. Who can make what times to game, what days and all that shit. My times are about 11 AM to 4 PM EST and 10 30 PM EST to 3 AM EST. Most days are good for me with two exceptions. Tuesday evenings are out since I run another game then, and Sundays are out since football season is coming up and I'm a huge football fan. I don't know if this would run long enough to be a problem, but I don't see any reason to tempt fate. It's likely that the group will pare down some as schedules line up, I don't really see a nine person game as sustainable in any event. I'll try and give priority to new people and work from there.

Second off, game system. I know the following systems:

D&D 2nd edition
D&D 3.5
BESM to varying degrees

I have some familiarity with the following systems:

Maid
Pathfinder (D&D 3.75)

I can try running any of those or try a new system altogether. I'm open to suggestions, though I'd prefer a system I already know. I tend to take a little longer than everyone else to really get comfortable in a new system. I'd like to avoid Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader. I'm familiar with the fluff but I'm not a fan of 40k. I'd also like to avoid D&D 4th edition. Anything else I'm willing to give a try. So what do you guys want to play? Feel free to make a pitch for a system or game you'd like, convince people. Have fun with it, get people to anticipate what you wanna play.

Third, this game is gonna be on IRC. Hop into #elysium on irc.lunarnet.org. Feel free to hop in there, I'm usually around under the name Kotono if you have any questions, or you can just post them in here.

I'm around from approximately 1pm EST until say 6pm on weekdays.

As for system, I'd be down with D&D 3.5 or Pathfinder, or possibly BESM.

The 11am-4pm block any day works good for me all the way until august. Saturday becomes an issue come august though. Obviously, if I get a job, weekdays would be an issue, but we know how that's been working out for me.

For the night block, I can only do up until about 1:30am and still promise to be lucid. While you often see me up past that, I'm pretty much half asleep after that time, and I'll often just zonk out before that anyway. Sunday's obviously a problem for me, but you've got football, so not an issue. I'd really like having Wednesday night free (as that's generally when I do raiding in WoW), but I could probably move that around.

Second off, game system.
I'm comfortable with D&D 2/3.5/BESM/Pathfinder, also wouldn't mind 7th sea (I liked the swashbuckling) or Fantasycraft (I agree with Corwin's desire to see a paladin that smites uglies)

I'm open to other systems too, although don't have anything I particularly feel like recommending.

I'm around for the 11am-4pm time throughout the week, and I could probably make the latter spot thursday/friday.

I'm typically free from 11 AM to 2 PM EST.  I would prefer the 10 PM to 2 AM timeslot, simply because it guarantees I can make it.

As for games...I am still pretty new to the tabletop scene in general, so I'm only familiar with perhaps 1 or 2 systems, D&D 3.5 being one of them. The other is a game that I'm sure Dune has said that he's not sure if he wants to try, but I'll present it as an option anyways: Unknown Armies. I also won't say no to any other fantasy genre game people have in mind.
