People of Note

Note: I like finding pictures for chars, so I'll often add links to the pic(either hosted somewhere or directly to the DA original) I use for someone right under the name. While all pictures I use will be work safe, some links will go to DeviantArt which has many things that are not, if that's a problem.

Michelle "Shelly" Veres - Venturan Female, age 23. Victor's classmate/friend. (Rgr2//Adept 2)
http://solfieri.deviantart.com/art/Pink-hair-50329766
Aggressive, opinionated but yet confusingly cheerful and often a bit hyper, Shelly is a woman who tends to grate on people's nerves very quickly. Like Victor, she stayed in Lorant after graduating from CSRP, but unlike him has no intention of returning to Venture ever in her entire life. She loves Lorant, the wilderness, the freedom, even the danger, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Her natural competetive urges and inquisitiveness that borders on the intrusive has a tendancy of getting her into trouble, but her sharp mind, skills and raw physical ability that rivals native Lorishmen is equally good at getting her out.

Ever since graduation when they both decided to stay, Shelly and Victor have been on again/off again travelling partners. Lately, she's been talking a bit about the Explorers of Lore, though she's still undecided if she wants to actually join them or not. Her distaste for orginization runs pretty deep and all.

Valiant "Val" Paran - Venturan Female, age 24. Victor's twin sister. (???//??? ?)
Valiant and Victory Paran are nearly identical twins despite being different genders. Fortunately Val had no problems cheerfully being an assertive tomboy to go with her rather unfeminine looks...or at least she did the last time Victor saw her. Shortly after Victor went off to Lorant, Val went to Rashal via thier exchange program. Victor had gotten one letter from his sister about 6 years ago, and has had no further correspondance with her since then.

Derrick Corvin - Venturan Male, age 86. Vic and Val's granduncle.
Though he never officially adopted the twince, Mr. Corvin was responsible for pulling the strings that got them into CRSP. Derrick Corvin himself has no real pull with the governmet, he's mostly just a retired civic engineer, but he had other connections who did. Even as he tried to help the twins as thier only real living reletive, he kept an arms length from them, not wanting to get attatched to children who would be leaving the region soon...nor wanting them to get attached to an old man in poor health.

Joshua Corvin - Venturan Male, age 47. Vic and Val's Uncle-once-removed.
That's Captain Corvin, not "uncle" even to the twins. Joshua Corvin is a VERO officer and ship captain who is well known for being the very model of a proffesional and competent officer. At his father's urging, he paid the cost out of pocket for Victor and Val to take the test into CRSP, then once they passed continued supplying the pair with thier equipment, stipend and basically everything else that the families of the students were supposed to provide. Except of course any kind of emotional support. Victor's most recent meeting with the man was last year when Cpt. Corvin's ship stopped in Jotgunn and the met over lunch. Cpt. Corvin offered Victor one last trip home, as well as a reccomendation for officer training in VERO if he was interested, but he didn't seem surprised when Victor refused, simply smilin for the first time Victor had ever seen and noting "Every Corvin has to do everything his own way. I didn't expect you would be any different."

Orginizations

If you're interested in them, we can use the Affiliation rules from the PHB2 for any or all of these. Read up on those and tell me if they seem like fun or just more paperwork.

The Seekers: A group that has bases on all 5 known regions, who's sole purpose is to seek out and find new regions. Though being largely funded by private enterprises and other wealthy non-government bodies, it wouldn't be entirely unfair to say that the true goal is to find new regions before the government exploration programs of any region manage to. The Seekers are considered an illegal group in Venture, as the Venturan Regional Council insists that the privatized nature of the Seekers means that the exploitation of and profiting from newly discovered regions is the end goal of the group's backers. The Seekers fire back, claiming that they don't work with the official Venturan exploration groups because the regulations are too stiff and cautious, impeding progress. Venture is the only government the Seekers actively clash with, though they still compete with the official exploration groups of Rashal and Bloom as well.

Venturan Exploration and Research Office: Called VERO for short, they are the official legal regionspace explorers of the Venturan government. VERO is also nearly as much of a diplomatic organization as a scientific one, as they build, run and manage the Embassies on the other regions. They also run the Cross Region Study Programs, where exceptional students from Venture go to study and work in an Embassy for four years(they also accept some applicant from other regions to go back to Venture). Critics of VERO say that they've shifted too much focus away from finding new regions and towards protecting their monopoly on regiontravel out of Venture.

The Patrol: Four years ago, a scientist at VERO joined forces with like minded individuals from other regions and stole an entire regionship as well as quite a bit of equipment to found his own organization: the Patrol. The stated purpose of the patrol is to protect the common people of all regions from those who would use regionspace technology to exploit or abuse them, functioning like self-appointed police with no jurisdictional boundaries. Considered by most to be vigilantes at best and terrorists at worst, few appreciate the tendency of the Patrol to stick their nose into anyone business as they will...that is until they need help. The Patrol is rumored to be based out of Lorant, but nobody has yet found their headquarters(of if they have, they aren't telling).

Explorers of Lore: Founded by a few Venturan settlers in Lorant, the Explorers of Lore are a group of adventurous men and women intent on mapping Lorant and discovering the mysteries of the caverns that the locals fear so much. Based in Jotgunn, the Explorers have had decent success recruiting in the last couple years, and can now claim to have over a hundred members. Graduates of CRSP and Rashali settlers form the base of the Explorers, but a fair number of locals have been talked into setting aside their cultural fears in the name of discovery as well.

Lorant Locals and Locales

Baldwin Winters - Venturan Male, age 43. Chief Ambassador to Lorant
The head of the Venturan Embassy in Jotgun, "Lord" Winters(as the locals insist on calling him, much to his embarassment) spends most of his time either in meetings with hsi collegues or with the local powers that be. His advice is often actively sought out by Lord Garr Torvald, the ruler of Jotgunn, giving him a fair amount of influance in the city's politics. Handsome and well spoken, but still not afraid of rolling up his sleeves and pitching in physically when it would speed things up, he's quite popular with most people who spend any time with him, including most of the CRSP students who he always tries to make time for.

Lasna Terrace - Lorish Female, age 36. CRSP Instructor.
Mrs. Terrace, or simply Lasna as she prefers to be called even by the students, is the primary instructor for self-defense and Lorish geography lessons. Considering his specializations, Victor spent alot of time in her classes. Her husband, the Venturan born Dr. Lendon Terrace, also teaches in CRSP, specializing in what he calls "reinventing the wheel" meaning developing lower end technologies that have been dead in Venture for ages but will work on Lorant. Aside from her expertise in combat(particularly unarmed combat) and woodcraft, Lasna also considers herself the official expert on romance and has a horrible habit of trying to set students up either with eachother or locals she thinks would be good matches for them.

Rauld - Lorish Male, age ???. Wanderer.
The man who taught Victor the magical side of his landcraft. If Rauld has a last name, or a past outside of being a wanderer, he never shared them. Outside of teaching the craft, he always kept his distance and never tried to act as anything more then a very temperary mentor. Once he considered Victor to be competent enough to handle himself, he just left. The teaching he pushed more then any other was strangly counter to how many Lorishmen thought, which was "don't rely on violence when a little thinking can solve the problem."
