She has a check over the quality and enchantment of the weapons in the armoury before she tries the further doors on this level to expand her map of the place.

Most are mundane, though a few basic enchanted weapons are there as well. Nothing terribly interesting by itself.

Onwards then to examine what the other doors on this level hide!

Back the other way, behind where you came into this place, the door leads to darkness and unhallowed places. You can proceed ahead if you wish.

That area gets left well alone. Being a proxy is pretty great but it does mean she has to be careful around areas like that.

As you go, you hear a single, pained scream, faraway but echoing. A moment later a man's voice screams, "MOTHER!"

What direction is it from? Also sense motive taking 10 for 59 because she remembers a similar ruse back in that sacked temple she did with Alicia and Ebony.

It's coming from the direction of the stairs going down.

[Ebiris]

But does it sound legitimate?

It sounds real to Marie.

Time for Marie to head downstairs and look for that!

She accidentally left one person to die tonight, hopefully she can do better this time!

You head to the stairs. When you get there, you find the door open, a single robed man heading out. His head is bowed, steps silent. As he passes, you hear him muttering, "Missiles and force, missiles and force, missiles and force."

That's worryingly specific to her MO. She might have been made already - Marie tries to detect his thoughts.
