You peek around the corner. Here a corner is utterly coated in ice and fog, coming more from a passage that turns to the north. Bloodstains decorate the walls, frozen blood on the floor.

Moore frowns. "Let's see where this ends." He says, gesturing for the others to follow him.

He's going to cast Foresight, CL31 on himself as he goes. +2 insight to AC and reflex, blah blah warnings of impending danger and so on.

You go round the corner - and ahead the walls are shattered, replaced by ice. Here it marches forward, 45ft away. A frozen balor, ice and snow and hate, all glaring at you. A blade like a jagged icicle is on one hand, a whip of frost in the other. Around it they form - swirling elementals of ice and snow, gathering in around him.

"Finally, someone made it here," it grins, little ice chips trailing from its lips.

[Nephrite]

"I'll give you one opportunity to leave with your life." Moore says, holding a finger up. "I know not why you and your kind came here, but it's clear you're not welcome."

[Anastasia]

Your answer is a roar of fury, the balor charging ahead at you headlong.

This is not a normal balor. Balors burn and rage, not freeze like ice. It has been altered, changed with fell and frozen magic. You know not this particular balor - but the Abyss is said to be infinite or close enough, so who knows where and what it is?

Can Xandra cast Simmer's Contagious Fireburst? It's an evocation spell, but I don't remember if you banned it.
