Three calls, 5 people, 25 dollars.

This is what it took to get electric company to send me a bill for my mom's account so I can pay things.  I did not start swearing at them.  So tempting despite it just being really entirely obnoxious company policies.

Found out that I won't get severance pay or qualify for unemployment benefits in my state. Bleh.

Not yet, but I will in a few months.

The severance pay is one thing - ugly, but I wasn't expecting anything else. The worse part is the lack of unemployment coverage. A very long story short, my state has a minimum amount of money you need to make to get anything. If you don't make enough, you don't get any unemployment benefit. It's a rough state on it - only about approximately 20% of people qualify for any payout at all.

Yeah :(  Generally I look around and find there's a lot of protections in place for people on the middle (assets of 300k+) and above (Getting stronger actually as it goes higher), but frankly by virtue of that they're the folks more likely to be able to survive not having that.   :(  It is not good being on the other side of that line.
