Searching for places/people to help a friend under "must find accommodation for $X by June Y or become homeless" constraint. $X is mostly sketchy online ads that you'd ideally want to take extra time to verify.

Really sucks to deal with this even by proxy. A lot of the nasty things being said about finding housing in US boomtowns are very much applicable in Canada too.

Oh, look, my old university college issued an alumni magazine with most of it being a single panic filled article about how their students' housing options are really limited and there's not enough residence space for the upper years that want it. As an example of solution, they relate how in British Columbia they've invented an innovative new student residence type called the 'nano suite', a 140 sq ft. apartment where your bed folds down in place of your desk. Only $700CAD/month!

This would make sense if the surrounding terrain was like Japan with lots of un-buildable sacred mountains, but from my observation much of an American city's space is devoted to lawns and parking.

Yeah, that's horrible all the way around.

I've heard vancouver's super expensive to live in, that reminds me of things like you'd see in other places with vastly distorted costs of living.

Had a job interview today.

Today's also the day where my Dad's car, which I was relying on to get to the interview, decided to have its transmission and engine die.

Didn't even make it to the interview.

blegh, hate dealing with Comcast.

Their whole business model and that of that industry is shady as fuck and I wish it wasn't what it was just to get internet.

Nah, that wasn't related. I just forgot to relog on there.

The comcast thing is just the usual annoyance with not being able to have one steady price with small ocassional increases for inflation, instead of the nonsense where you regularly have to call them about their latest idiotic bundle or finding a way to get cheaper deal or just swapping service for a year or so with the competitor.

That's an idiotic practice and I don't see why the only options are suck it up, or give up the internet.
