Dragonborn taylor story finishes with a whimper and a pretty crummy finishing arc.  It was never a good story, largely following a taylor-shaped ditz but it's over now.
Oh thank God. It was really really not good.
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Every couple of years, I go looking for this old FFML fic.

Hello Kitty, with a minor BGC cameo towards the end.

Some Avatar fanfics I enjoyed:

This comes out of working about 1/4 of the way through a huge list of recommendations on SB https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/murazors-big-list-of-recommended-fanfics.141978/page-9#post-11975719 but a lot of the recommended fics really didn't click with me. That's just how fanfic is, I guess.

What I've been reading lately.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12738075/1/Why-Time-Travel-Should-Be-Illegal-and-Other-Morals

Eh. Muggle school teacher from our world ends up in Harry Potter's world just in time to teach his kindergarten class. It's vaguely okay, I'm mostly reading it for the Christian perspective (which I find refreshing in fanfiction).

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12327719/1/What-Do-You-Want

This updated last week. It continues to be soundly average and passable, an enjoyable Ranma fic from days long past. I'm not the biggest fan of everything it hits, but I have no qualms about reading it.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12369512/1/The-Peace-Not-Promised

After death, Snape is sent back in time to his Hogwarts days...hey wait, come back! Okay, I admit it's a guilty pleasure, but I enjoy the fic isn't a lionization of Snape and/or a take down of James Potter, but instead shows both people as varying degree of asses (and Snape more than James). It avoids immediate power plays and focuses on social dynamics in year 6 of Snape and company's schooling rather than directly fighting Voldemort.

Snape is a bitter, wounded and regretful man stumbling through a second chance. The narrative makes no bones about this nor tries to sweep aside his character flaws. I give it points for that, y'know? A lot of Snape focus fics really try to paint away his flaws (and you can just hear the squeeing of fangirls), make him someone he isn't. This fic feels like it's avoiding it, as well as having him act in a fairly believable way. Of course he does much better in Syltherin politics - as he notes himself, he has a lifetime of experience on them as well as a great deal more magical learning - but this isn't done in a totally Mary Sue way.

I could write more, but the jist is this: It's a guilty pleasure fic that takes on a fangirlish concept and writes it honestly to the characters. I can respect that.

Yeah, I know. That title. That title, man. I'm not defending it, but it's enjoyable enough so far. The gamer elements are less wanky than usual so far, which I'm grateful for.

Ranger of the North is getting a rewrite and remix. Looks decent so far, even if it's purely in the establishment phase of things before any real plot happens.

Taylor gets summoned in the locker and shit goes from there. Too early to say a lot, but there's some really interesting potential in the first chapter.

Hum, chapter 3 of weaponry dominion has posted.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/how-to-drill-your-way-through-your-problems-worm-ttgl-si.503134 - This feels remarkably on note as a gurren lagann wish-fic in Brockton Bay.
Well, Goodbye.

Silencio updated. It's been four years, and the story holds up. The update was a fun but fluffy thing, all characterization and interaction with no conflict. Odd for a Worm fic, but the author makes it work fairly well.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/ring-maker-worm-lord-of-the-rings-alt-power.517894/

Ring Maker continues on. I continue to have deep problems with it, but I skim it for the good parts. I just can't buy into Sauron Taylor that much, but there's still some good bits here and there.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/special-edition-worm-xover.597691/

This takes a typical OP Taylor premise, married to the generally poor idea of PHO interludes and comes out with a surprisingly good fic. The premise is that Taylor can see tomorrow's events 24 hours early and uses this to influence events worldwide. Her exact precog powers are vague but top tier. Rather than focusing on Taylor's PoV, it cuts that out and focuses on other people and what we really want to see from this sort of fic: The reactions and worldbuilding. Well worth a read.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/who-made-this-game-worm-action-mystery.606637/

The Wards find a Worm video game right after Lung is first captured at the beginning of Worm. Shenanigans ensue. It's okay, some parts are decent and some are bad. Worth reading two chapters (the first is slow) and seeing if it tickles your fancy.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/weaponry-dominion-worm-x-familiar-of-zero-znt.601361/

Weaponry Dominion continues. Very slow paced right now but showing signs of hopefully picking up. Chapter 1 had a lot going on, now it's all set up. Hopefully it uses the potential established soon.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7657235/41/Path-of-the-King

Path of the King updated. Mostly an in between chapter that sets up the next one with a strong cliffhanger.

Any neat reads lately?

I've been rereading https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/silencio-thread-7-seven-shady-superheroes-support-shipyard-salvage-shenanigans.310566/ which started updating again this year.

Also read some of Ack's stuff, but most updates lately just look like "Hey look, overly comedic curbstomp of brockton bay villain faces"
Well, Goodbye.

Chivalry and Cheaters updated to chapter 3, that's a link to chapter 1. It's a fun Worm story posted about Tattletale and Gallant having to work together before the start of canon. It's a fun story, especially how they bounce off of each other.

I'm reading "Tales of Demons and Gods" which is a light novel by the way. ;)
