Gamer sucked into MMO, with game system.  Also uses Magic: the Gathering system.  I don't know about about MtG to know if it's an original world, or if it is MtG fanfic.

Wonder how the chore of trawling through dozens of booster packs to build your deck is represented in-universe :)

My favourite system is Yu-Gi-Oh. Some aspects of it are so stupid it wraps around into beautiful (not to play, just to admire). I don't think there was any attempt by the designers to balance the cards. You read the card list and shake your hand that some cards are just stronger than others so you'd almost never want the weaker cards if you could get the stronger ones*. But then you realize that, storyworld-wise, this stupid game design makes perfect thematic sense. Ancient Egyptian battle between ancient Egyptian magician aristocrats. If you're higher on the aristocratic totem pole, your cards / magic / ancient Egyptian laser beams are just better. There's sometimes a small amount of room for an underdog to turn the tables with skill and cunning (if the aristocrat you're playing against gets complacent -- so hubris is a bad thing for aristocrats to have and that's a Morality Tale for the Yu-Gi-Oh world) or stupid dumb luck (Yu-Gi-Oh aristocrats worship the Random Number God and fear his wrath), but it doesn't change the fact that the Pharaoh's deck is packed with stupid powerful god monster cards and yours isn't :P

* It's like the Mox era of MtG. All praise the Mox!
That the dead tree with its scattered fruit, a thousand times may live....

Megaman X Zero and the Hobbit crossover.

It somehow sort of works. Emphasis on sort of, but I enjoyed reading it.

The story is a hybrid Isekai/Groundhogs Day.  A very goal-oriented person has been summoned to another land to battle the demon king.  However, while his might is potent, his personality is horrible, so he is sent to relive his adventure until he reforms.

This is translated up to chapter 30 so far.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/constellations-worm-okami.414320/ - this has updated after a year.  Gleee.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/so-im-a-spider-flat-what-worm-kumo-desu-ga-nani-ka.732418/ - this is adorable crack.  Tiny Spider Taylor needing to get her pho fix is glorious.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/a-wand-for-skitter.730018/ - Taylor is in more violent Harry Potter-verse.  Trying to rise to the violent occassion.

A Worm fic where Taylor doesn't join the Undersiders and events spiral from that. Could've done without the last chapter's smug fox interrupt, but seems okay so far.

This fic has a lot of problems, but manages to squeak by through some of the strong points. I mostly read it for the Snape scenes, as it's taking the worst parts of canon and fanon Taylor, mashing them together and turning it into a traditional HP 'oh hey wizards are dumb, let's have Harry/the SI/the crossover character' say that a lot and succeed.

Read up to page 76.

English mechanics are fine, world-building is decent, characterization is good.  Also, unlike most I'm-a-dungeon stories, it doesn't fall into some excessive min/max discussion or spamming some stat sheet intended to boost word count, or incessantly whine about the lack of rice and the superiority of Japanese street-food cuisine.  All good stuff.

But the story hasn't really gone anywhere.  The writer has had characters mention a few things that could mature into some conflict if they're ever followed up.  Perhaps the writer will do so in the future, but hasn't as of page 76.  There's no tension in the meantime -- not even with the MCs pacifist philosophy, which could be a great source of tension.

So I think I have to bow out of this one.  Nai wa/Worm also looks potentially interesting, and I'll look it over in the future.

Ebiris

Just started reading East of Eden and it's a hilarious black comedy where while being knifed by Fortuna, Eden tries to project her consciousness into the Administration shard, usurping 3 year old Taylor Hebert in the process. It reminds me a lot of Seventh Horcrux if you liked that, same sort of entertaining sociopathy from the protagonist.

I tried reading some of that, but 1. I don't think the author's anywhere as good as Seventh Horcrux's author and 2. I think Worm is much less suited for this manner of story.

https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/tangled-fate-ranma-1-2-exalted.39183/ Been continuing to follow this.  Which updated a week ago or whatever.  It has a lot of characters at this point.  Sorta too many.  It's starting to set up opposition to team Ranma Exalted.  We've got the enemy circle and now a demon wandering about.  Still not gotten very far timewise for the story.

The dialogue verged on being too dramatic at certain points, but I still enjoyed reading it.  Maybe it's from Ranma x-over nostalgia.

Speaking of which, Ranma/Conan: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12836068/1/When-a-Curse-is-Not-a-Curse

Never followed Conan, so not familiar with it other than the titular character and a basic synopsis, but it's not necessary to understand the story.  Ranma knowledge is necessary to understand the subtext of what's going on in the chapters.

Worm fic, showing some of Lung's early life right after Kyushu.

[spoiler]

The great tragedy of the story is that it's canon compliant, when you realize what Lung ultimately becomes.

Random person gets put in as Tien right when Goku and Raditz die. It's surprisingly fun and had a neat twist in the middle of the Saiyan battle.

It was a neat twist.  I've read it.  Unsure really my thoughts on it as a story though outside of appreciation for chosing the only character technically more maligned than Yamcha (who at least is an multi-millionare international sports racketeer)
Well, Goodbye.
