But it seems a safe bet in general that lawfics are everywhere. Safer than feeling depressed over some conjecture that the Haruhi fandom is some kind of supernatural magnet for the scum of the Internet.

The first comment is that there is already a term for this, 'joke fic'. The problem with that assertion is that many of the fics in question lack any kind of punchline that could be immediately identifiable as a joke, and instead invoke some meme that is chosen by the 'insider' community as a shibboleth, the way 'cheeseburger' is appropriated by the lolcat community. Yes, it's considered to be funny, but it's not exactly a joke.

My appreciation of the day: the outline for the next story arc of my fic is finally finished and will keep me writing for some time. ^_^
