There's no feeling quite like realizing that you've successfully made a fic outline workable by jetissoning a stupid idea that, five days ago, had seemed to you inextricably necessary to the plot.

EDIT: Specifically, I turned an idea which involved Slider Yutaka (horrid Mary Sue slider creature) into an idea which does not involve Slider Yutaka. That does leave the question of why Slider Yutaka keeps invading my fic ideas, even though I can't give any coherent reason as to what her presence adds.
That the dead tree with its scattered fruit, a thousand times may live....

I just did an hour-long journal club presentation on a cancer research paper. Right before I started, the guest teacher said she intentionally chose that paper to show the high complexity of modern biology research, so it would be a challenge to whichever of the pair teams got assigned to present it.

I'm one of the students who were assigned to present alone, to fill all the day slots.

Also, I'm stats, not bio.

Yet I still did a good job! And now my day is complete. By which I mean my eight hour work day crunching numbers for the department is now starting.

Wait, this is the appreciation thread.

Uhh... I got to complain about the bad statistics in that paper a lot. And since I'm one of the single presenters, I don't have to present twice like the others. Yay!
