I'll stop you~  No advertising deadpool or these goldfish will get overfed!
Well, Goodbye.

I'm hitting the gym. First day was today, 3 miles in 22 minutes. Want to get the full thirty minutes by next Wed.

Changed my avi. How do I look?
I'm going to need your signature for the metric ton of whoop-ass you're about to receive.

"You enslave minds!"
"And I believe that's okay."

Scruffy :)  Get a hair cut.

Today, after many years of trying and giving up for each programming language I've learned, I've successfully added asynchronous input/output in a nontrivial, practical application, with neither spinlocking nor garbling the data on write.

Curse you, asynchronous IO. Why does coding a model as simple as...
1. Take a queue of requests
2. Push them one by one to six available resources
3. Pull their responses as they come, and then push the next request, to maximize the number of resources used without flooding any of them, and lastly
4. Arrange all the responses back in order
...have to be so labyrinthine? The async module implementing that workflow description is like 160 lines.

But hey, I cut total process time from 60sec to 12sec. So I'm happy.

Sounds neat. How hard is that to do, anyway?

Got some work boardgames going (SotM) yesterday.  Nice.
Well, Goodbye.

Like many things, it's easy when you're used to it. Until you get past the initial understanding barrier, though, asynchronous programming looks simple but acts very unintuitively in subtle ways. If you're used to sequential execution of computer statements, async forces you out of many deeply-held assumptions.

And now I have successfully implemented a progress bar to read and display the current proportion of async jobs done. Another dream achieved.

Of course, the bar doesn't match with the progress consistently, because I hate you async IO.

Awesome, have fun and get some nice stuff while you're there.

When you stay up till midnight with friends learning about astroids, particle physics, and antimatter.
