Ebiris

[16:05] <Ebiris> The next morning finds the party going their seperate ways. After purchasing a stack of weapons from the blacksmith and concealing them amidst the rubble near the prison, and armed with a blastglobe from the alchemist, Keylin and Puk'lor ready themselves for the jailbreak... A few work gangs have been seen leaving the prison already this morning, but some have come in as well, so it's likely to be as full as it's going to get...
[16:05] <Ebiris> "What is your plan?" Puk'lor asks sollemnly as the pair lurk in the shadows near the perimeter wall.
[16:09] <Keylin> "Well, sneaking in is the easy part. We can jump in from the wall on the left side...although I'd rather use the broom, you know," Keylin replies. "Then we sneak in, rescue people, and everyone rushes out through the front gates having some people rush into and knock the guards off their feet. Hopefully there'll be someone strong looking. If not, we'll have to take them out. You have any extra weapons we can use to lend to some of the pr
[16:12] <Keylin> You have any extra weapons we can use to lend to some of the prisoners?"
[16:12] <Ebiris> "My only weapon is my Karach blade, and it is worthless in the hands of another," the monk returns, his voice low and gravelly.
[16:16] * Keylin frowns slightly. "Well, it's not our prefered situation to have to rely on them, but if it comes to that, I have an extra weapon. Though I'd rather we be able to create a riot of people escaping so we can better avoid being spotted."
[16:18] <Ebiris> "We could carry some of the weapons we purchased from the blacksmith to distribute in the prison and leave the rest to be collected once the gates are breached?" Puk'lor suggests.
[16:20] * Keylin nods. "That will actually work better. I'd rather not risk having to fight to get back one of my weapons."
[16:22] <Ebiris> So the pair grab up as much weapons as they can carry without being weighed down... "Now?" Puk'lor asks, deferring to Keylin's judgement.
[16:23] <Keylin> "C'mon, I'll show you the way I spotted," Keylin replies as she leads him towards that wall.
[16:24] <Ebiris> The duo circle their way around the prison, reaching the secluded alleyways against the East wall, looking much as they did yesterday.
[16:27] <Keylin> "Alright," Keylin motions Puk'lor closer as she gets on the broom, whispering quietly. "Get on and let's get inside."
[16:27] <Ebiris> Puk'lor hops aboard, carefully holding onto Keylin's shoulders.
[16:28] * Keylin tries to recall how it is that Amonet and Alveria get the broom up and then manuever it so she doesn't end up dropping them atop the guards.
[16:35] <Ebiris> Keylin finds the broom responsive enough, moving as she likes it.
[16:35] <Keylin> "Let's fly," Keylin murmurs quietly as she starts to fly them carefully into the prison entrance, avoiding being seen.
[16:36] <Ebiris> OOC: you do realise you have to fly up and over the wall, which basically puts you in plain sight of anyone in the prison grounds or guard towers? It's pretty much impossible to fly in unseen.
[16:37] <Keylin> ooc: but it's possible to manuever such that you're trying to move quickly when you think people aren't looking in that direction, no?
[16:38] <Ebiris> OOC: Well yeah, but you can't see who's down there unless you fly up and expose yourself
[16:40] <Keylin> ooc: okay.
[16:41] * Keylin flies upwards, looking at the guards to see where their attention is faced, and dashing in if they're looking away.
[16:41] <Ebiris> Flying up above the walls, Keylin can see there are several guards and a dozen or so manacled prisoners in the courtyard...
[16:42] <Ebiris> roll 1d20
[16:42] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=10 ]{10}
[16:42] <Ebiris> One of the guards happens to look up and spot them flying around. "Hey - you there! What do you think you're doing?!" he challenges.
[16:44] <Keylin> "I've got a flying license!" Keylin shouts back in adefiant tone, hoping they're high enough that it doesn't look like she might be a bit nervous.
[16:46] <Ebiris> "Well piss off and fly somewhere else, then!" the guard barks back. "This is a restricted area - you'll disturb the prisoners!"
[16:49] <Keylin> "They're prisoners! Who cares if they get disturbed?" Keylin shouts back again.
[16:51] <Ebiris> "We do! Now piss off or we'll have you charged with breach of the peace!" the guard replies irately.
[16:52] <Keylin> "Fine, fine you old fart!" Keylin replies as she takes them away. "Well, that went well..." she mutters with a frown.
[16:53] <Ebiris> "What now, then?" Puk'lor asks as you fly away from the prison complex.
[16:53] <Keylin> "Any interest in just fighting our way in?" Keylin asks wit a small frown.
[17:01] <Ebiris> "We could try, but it would be a difficult struggle - they have miniature ballistas in those guard towers, and there are probably more guards inside the prison besides those we can see in the yard. If that is your wish, however, I will follow," Puk'lor replies blandly.
[17:05] <Keylin> "I believe I can probably snipe some of them from afar, and you can take care of them if they get too close. So then that leaves getting past the ballistas..." Keylin frowns as she tries to calculate what are the chances of them getting inside quickly and not be struck down. Once inside, any guards inside could fall the same as the guards outside, she thinks.
[17:06] <Ebiris> "You snipe from the rooftop while I leap in?" Puk'lor concludes.
[17:13] <Keylin> "Maybe. I recommend you hold back instead of leaping in though. Gives me more time to whittle them down, and not risk hitting you," Keylin answers as she looks to the best building to shoot from. Maybe that tall building she saw before?
[17:14] <Ebiris> "Very well, I can jump down from the rooftop without fear of injury, so let us land?" he asks.
[17:15] * Keylin nods as she manuevers the broom to the tallest building's roof.
[17:17] <Ebiris> So the duo land, finding themselves with a good vantage point over the prison yard... Looks to be four guards that she can see milling around, although the guard towers are covered, so she can't see who's in them.
[17:24] * Keylin pulls out her bow, and checks if she can aim at anyone on the towers first. If not, well, she might as well aim at the guy who yelled at her. She always was one to hold a grudge.
[17:25] <Ebiris> The tower roofs provide cover from above, so no dice there. The guy who yelled does make a tempting target as he marches around, puffed up on his own self importance, however.
[17:31] * Keylin moves around the roof, looking for the best point to do damage at the guard and fires.
[17:31] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:31] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=5 ]{15}
[17:32] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:33] <Keylin> roll 1d8+2d6+3
[17:33] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d8=7 2d6=6 ]{16}
[17:33] <Ebiris> OOC: he's more than 30 feet away, so no skirmish
[17:34] <Keylin> ooc: oh right. want me to reroll or just taking out the 6?
[17:34] <Ebiris> OOC: 7. And that's a good roll so we'll keep it.
[17:35] <Keylin> ooc: great!
[17:36] <Ebiris> With a thwipping noise, Keylin's arrow arcs down and embeds itself squarely in the Mercykiller's breastplate, causing him to stagger and let out a pained and alarmed cry! A pair of Mercykillers draw crossbows and look in your direction, but they appear to be the only ones with ranged weaponry.
[17:36] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[17:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d20
[17:38] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=14 ]{14}
[17:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d20
[17:38] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=2 ]{2}
[17:39] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[17:39] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=1 ]{5}
[17:40] <Ebiris> One of them promptly snaps off a shot at Keylin, firing on reflex!
[17:40] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4
[17:40] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=11 ]{15}
[17:40] <Ebiris> But it only embeds itself in the building below her feet!
[17:40] <Keylin> ooc: AC 22
[17:40] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:41] * Keylin aims carefully and lets another arrow fly, but this time aimed at the man who just shot her! Better to take out those with ranged weapons first!
[17:41] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:41] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=4 ]{14}
[17:41] <Ebiris> This time while her arrow hits the target, it doesn't appear to penetrate his armour enough to hurt. The other armed guard fires off a shot in reply, though!
[17:41] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4
[17:41] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=15 ]{19}
[17:42] <Ebiris> He has little better luck, his bolt sailing overhead while his companion reloads.
[17:42] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:42] <Keylin> ooc: not the first guard again, or did I kill him?
[17:42] <Ebiris> OOC: you haven't killed anyone, yet
[17:44] * Keylin frowns and moves a bit along the roof, so the guards have to realign their aim again as the arrows get closer, and lets loose another arrow at her last target.
[17:44] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:44] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=18 ]{28}
[17:44] <Keylin> roll 1d8+3
[17:44] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d8=2 ]{5}
[17:45] <Ebiris> This one pierces his armour, leaving two wounded guards down below as they call for help from inside the prison. After reloading, however, one is able to return fire on Keylin!
[17:45] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4
[17:45] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=4 ]{8}
[17:45] <Ebiris> It's not really very effective, though...
[17:45] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:46] * Keylin aims yet again, shooting at the guard still firing at her.
[17:46] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:46] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=6 ]{16}
[17:49] <Ebiris> OOC: y'know what, they suck and probably won't ever hit you, and you'll keep hitting them, so lets say you kill a couple and move on a little to when real opposition gets here?
[17:50] <Keylin> ooc: works for me!
[17:51] <Ebiris> Keylin proceeds to thin out the guards, elicitting much cheering from the prisoners... indeed, despite their manacles, they soon begin rioting on their own, attempting to finish off the wounded guards! But the towers begin to start shooting down at them, prompting Puk'lor to rise. "That is my cue," he announces, before leaping off the building and sailing down towards the courtyard below!
[17:54] <Keylin> "Show off," Keylin mutters under her breath, though with an amused smile on her face as she looks for another target within her sight. Otherwise, it might be time for her to go down and lend her own hand. One holding a big large hammer.
[17:58] <Ebiris> As Puk'lor lands, a greataxe wielding Mercykiller moves to charge him, while he seems to have his focus on one of the guard towers...
[17:58] <Ebiris> OOC: you can attack the guard to cover Puk'lor, Keylin
[18:00] * Keylin attacks the greataxe wielder, lest her ally be split in half horribly, letting loose yet another arrow in her arsenal.
[18:00] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[18:00] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=14 ]{24}
[18:01] <Ebiris> OOC: don't you have a bab higher than 5?
[18:01] <Ebiris> OOC: you can shoot twice to make up for the lack of skirmish!
[18:01] <Keylin> ooc: bab is 6, so yes, you're right. I just got to the +6 with last session's levelup.
[18:02] * Keylin lets another arrow fly as well!
[18:02] <Keylin> roll 1d20+5
[18:02] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=7 ]{12}
[18:02] <Ebiris> OOC: 1 hit
[18:02] <Keylin> roll 1d8+3
[18:02] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d8=6 ]{9}
[18:02] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8
[18:02] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Ebiris : [ 1d20=13 ]{21}
[18:03] <Ebiris> The guard staggers from Keylin's arrow, bleeding profusely, but isn't stopped as he charges Puk'lor! The monk merely sidesteps, however, as a loud cracking noise is heard from the Southwest guard tower, followed by cursing from within!
[18:04] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, in the distance, Keylin can hear a thunderous boom coming from the City Hall, which begins to lurch and slowly implode on itself, screams beginning to carry on the wind from afar...
[18:06] <Keylin> "Oh dear..." Keylin mutters as she looks towards the City Hall, wondering what's happened now. Mad gnome on the loose? Well, no time to worry about it right now. Keylin shifts to the edge of the roof, and checks how good her path is to shoot another arrow at the axe-wielder and not hit Puk'lor.
[18:06] <Ebiris> Keylin is an expert military trained markswoman. If she can't hit that tin can wearing buffoon she's not worthy of her name!
[18:08] * Keylin aims and fires another set of arrows!
[18:08] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[18:08] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=3 ]{13}
[18:08] <Keylin> roll 1d20+5
[18:08] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d20=13 ]{18}
[18:08] <Ebiris> OOC: one hit
[18:08] <Keylin> roll 1d8+3
[18:08] * Serith bats the dice around, getting a roll for Keylin : [ 1d8=6 ]{9}
[18:10] <Ebiris> The second arrow catches him in the throat and makes him drop like a sack of potatoes, Puk'lor giving Keylin an appreciative nod as he draws his Karach blade and moves to start cutting through the manacles of the prisoners, dropping his sack of weapons for them to arm themselves with as the gates begin to open on the far wall from where Keylin is.
[18:15] * Keylin straps her bow and grabs the broom, looking for any place through which she could enter the towers quickly and take out the guards inside them. Otherwise, she might as well head down and help Puk'lor free the prisoners and distribute them weaponry.
[18:16] <Ebiris> The towers are basically exposed ladder accessed flat platforms with wooden roofs set on poles above the top, with plenty of room to fly onto. Puk'lor appears to have neutralised the Southwest one, however, and the prison building itself blocks the view from the Northeast one.
[18:18] <Ebiris> The main doors open as Keylin gets the broom, and three guards rush in, only to be dogpiled by a dozen or so prisoners, half now wielding simple weapons and the other half simply clubbing with their ruined manacles.

Ebiris

[15:06] <Ebiris> In the distance, Keylin can see the city hall continue to lurch and crumble apart, disintegrating rapidly...
[15:10] <Keylin> "Puk'lor, you think you'll be fine here alone? It seems we've taken care of pretty much the worst," Keylin shouts to him as she grabs the broom and uses it to manuever closer to her companion down below. "I want to find out what's happened up in City hall."
[15:11] <Ebiris> "I should be able to manage," the monk shouts back, going into the now open main prison building to continue his quest of liberation!
[15:14] * Keylin nods, and starts flying higher up to not have to dodge weapons or so forth, and then directs the broom towards city hall to see hw her teammates have been doing.
[15:17] <Ebiris> Soaring over the city, Keylin can see a significant portion of the building has already collapsed, with the rest of it rapidly following.
[15:17] <Ebiris> At her current altitude she can see down in the main square even from a distance, where a number of Mercykillers are being swiftly organised by a blue-skinned woman flying above them, with blood red wings and donned in gleaming golden armour, a bow of her own held in one of her hands while she uses the other to direct the troops.
[15:19] * Keylin looks for the closest rooftop, and plans to snipe at the woman before she's spotted hopefully. She's pretty certain that she's the one in charge.
[15:20] <Ebiris> There's a few buildings ringing the square, of which Keylin has her pick. The ones opposite the town square tend to favour flatter roofs, however, which would be easier to shoot and maneuver from.
[15:22] * Keylin heads towards one of the roofs on the opposite of the town square, taking the long way around the party by the city hall.
[15:22] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+16
[15:22] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+16 and gets 21." [1d20=5]
[15:24] <Ebiris> As she circles round, Keylin happens to catch the attention of the Erinyes, who looks over in her direction. "You, there! On the broom!" she calls over stridently, flying to intercept Keylin, "The city's under attack by anarchists - if you can fight then lend a hand!"
[15:27] <Keylin> "Hey, hey I'm not from this city, I'm just flying around minding my business. I don't want trouble and getting myself into a fight is looking for trouble," Keylin replies, sweating bullets internally. "Besides, I'm sure you have things well in hand, milady. It'd have to be a pretty large army of anarchists to mess with yours."
[15:29] <Ebiris> "We need all the help we can get!" she insists, seeming dreadfully earnest as she flies closer to Keylin, gesturing with her bow-wielding hand back at the disintegrating city hall. "Look what they've done already!"
[15:29] <Ebiris> OOC: will save
[15:30] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[15:30] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 16." [1d20=10]
[15:31] -> *Keylin* You know, she does seem really nice... maybe she does deserve your help? OOC: You've been charmed. Note that doesn't mean you're brainwashed, but you do now consider her as close a friend as anyone else you care about.
[15:35] * Keylin blinks. "Oh, I'm sorry," Keylin looks sympathetic. "I don't know how much I can help though, I don't want to hurt people, even if they're anarchists." Keylin bites her lower lip. "Oh dear, oh dear, how can I help then?" Keylin looks conflicted. She wants to help her new friend, but doesn't want to hurt her other friends, even if they are causing her new friend problems.
[15:38] <Ebiris> "You've got a bow - use it!" Shayeera insists. "Or if you don't want to fight directly, you can at least act as a spotter - we don't know how many of them there are. Just keep an eye out for any trouble heading our way!" With that she flies back to resume organising the Mercykillers on the ground.
[15:39] * Keylin nods! "I can do that!" Something that won't conflict with all her friends!
[15:39] * Keylin starts flying up higher, so she can spot for trouble coming in from outside the city hall area\.
[15:39] <Ebiris> OOC: moving you into #dunes, now
[15:42] <Ebiris> ---------
[15:43] <Ebiris> While her friends flee out the door, Amonet flies up to the second floor in search of Giselle! The corridor ahead of her towards the ministry of love buckles and collapses downwards, taking great segments of the walls with it, but the door to the ministry is visible ahead, that room perhaps still unscathed?
[15:44] <Amonet> Perhaps! And there is no time to waste!
[15:46] <Ebiris> Bursting through the door, Amonet can see no sign of Giselle!
[15:46] <Ebiris> OOC: listen check
[15:46] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[15:46] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 18." [1d20=13]
[15:47] <Amonet> "Time to go, Giselle!" Amonet calls out, looking around for the elf.
[15:47] <Ebiris> However, even amid the tormented sounds of scraping metal and rock as the building collapses all around her, Amonet can hear muffled crying from under the desk. Her call prompts the long-haired elf to look up. "Amonet, it's an earthquake!" she wails, "We're doomed!"
[15:47] <Ebiris> roll 1d10
[15:47] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10 and gets 7." [1d10=7]
[15:48] <Amonet> "We're flying out of here!" Amonet informs her even as she flies closer, taking hold of her with one hand. "Hang on!"
[15:49] <Ebiris> The young elf gloms tightly onto Amonet even as the back wall of her office disintegrates, rubble just missing the duo! Amid the rubble, a mangled body in spiky splint mail is seen plummeting downwards and crashing through the floor, signifying someone else was less lucky.
[15:51] * Amonet can sadly only save those in front of her with her powers. Mourning the dead is for later. Now, she rushes across the corridor and into the magister's room and the wide window towards the outside!
[15:52] <Ebiris> roll 1d10
[15:52] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10 and gets 9." [1d10=9]
[15:53] <Ebiris> As the sounds of collapsing rubble fill her ears, Amonet nonetheless is able to flee with Giselle, blasting through both doors and swiftly escaping out the window! "Wait, we need to go back for Mr Goosalagoop!" Giselle wails as she clings on for dear life.
[15:54] <Amonet> "We will once things settle down!" Amonet responds over the cacophony of sound, seeking a safe place to touch down upon.
[15:56] <Ebiris> Amonet sees an empty street before her, curving around towards the Town Square...
[15:57] * Amonet flies there, setting Giselle down gently. "Avoid city hall, town square or the prison," she tells her tersely, though she manages a smile. "Wait for me by the place we ate lunch at, alright?"
[16:00] <Ebiris> "But Mr Goosalagoop..." Giselle looks up at the rapidly crumbling structure with moist eyes.
[16:00] <Amonet> "If you're good and wait for me there, I'll bring him back with me," Amonet vows.
[16:04] <Ebiris> "Okay..." Giselle looks a bit dubious, but does take a few steps back from the building as a support gives way, sending several tons of rubble sliding and scraping down the wall and rolling onto the street, thankfully missing both of you.
[16:09] <Amonet> "I always keep my word!" Amonet calls after her, and after ensuring that Giselle is moving away from danger flies up and circles the building, looking in through windows for anyone to assist.
[16:10] <Ebiris> roll 1d10
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10 and gets 8." [1d10=8]
[16:11] <Ebiris> As she flies up, Amonet can see a panicked looking Mercykiller standing on a windowledge on the third floor, alternately looking down and then back in at the room behind him, its floor utterly collapsed all the way down to the ground. She can also see a fight between her friends and the Mercykillers taking place in the Town Square.
[16:13] <Amonet> "Come with me if you want to live!" Amonet calls out to the Mercykiller, hand outstretched as she bathes in Marjorie's glow.
[16:14] <Ebiris> "Don't need to tell me twice!" the man replies, reaching out to tightly grasp Amonet's hand. Ooohf, he's heavy, but not an unbearable weight, at least.
[16:16] * Amonet only helps him down, instructing the man to leave the city at once.
[16:16] <Ebiris> "I can't do that - whoever's responsible for this atrocity needs to be brought to justice!" he insists stalwartly.
[16:18] <Amonet> Her eyes acquiring a hard glint, Amonet swings her lance to bring its flat side against the man's temple.
[16:19] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 10." [1d20=2]
[16:19] <Amonet> roll 1d20+3
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+3 and gets 4." [1d20=1]
[16:19] <Ebiris> He looks surprised as Marjorie clangs off his armour to no effect. "What in the hells are you doing?!" he demands, wide-eyed.
[16:19] <Ebiris> OOC: init, laf
[16:20] <Ebiris> roll 1d20-1
[16:20] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20-1 and gets 11." [1d20=12]
[16:21] <Ebiris> OOC: make your third attack, then
[16:21] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[16:21] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 18." [1d20=10]
[16:21] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[16:21] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8 subdual?
[16:21] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8 subdual? and gets 13." [1d8=5]
[16:22] <Ebiris> He's staggered by Amonet's blow, but not put down just yet! "Oww! You hit me!" he cries, voice sounding wounded. "I can't believe you really hit me! Why would you do that?!"
[16:22] <Ebiris> OOC: now init
[16:30] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:30] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 15." [1d20=15]
[16:31] <Amonet> "The rule of the Erinyes is over!" Amonet declares, brandishing Marjorie menacingly. "I can only try to smack some sense into your poor, misguided soul!"
[16:33] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[16:33] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[16:33] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[16:33] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8 SLEEP
[16:33] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8 SLEEP and gets 12." [1d8=4]
[16:34] <Ebiris> Crack! And lights out, the poor Mercykiller falls over, perhaps being shown more mercy than he's ever shown in his life...
[16:34] * Amonet grabs his form and drags him away from any falling rubble before returning to her vigil in the skies!
[16:35] <Ebiris> OOC: paused for a bit since you're ahead of the battle in #dunes
[17:43] <Ebiris> As Amonet takes off, she can hear a ruckus in the distance - looking towards the prison complex, she can see several buildings are now in flames, and a horde of convicts are racing down the street to the main square, where the Mercykillers and her friends are doing battle!
[17:45] * Amonet takes a longer glance towards her friends, assessing their positions.
[17:46] <Ebiris> Gourash is seen near the rapidly disintegrating main entrance, and Keylin hovers above on her broom, but of Alveria and Eagan there is no sign...
[18:03] <Ebiris> As she asks her question, Amonet can see Gourash charge into the fray, brutalising and breaking the entire formation of Mercykillers, who disperse in a panic under his assault!
[18:04] * Amonet nods in approval, and continues rescue operations around the building.
[18:11] <Ebiris> Amonet manages to rescue a few more people, fortunately the remainder seeming to be simple clerks rather than Mercykillers, before the last remnants of the building finally collapse, no hope for any survivors in what's left...
[18:13] * Amonet stubbornly returns to the approximate place where Giselle's office used to be, and searches the rubble for her stuffed beholder plush.
[18:13] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[18:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 2." [1d100=2]
[18:14] <Ebiris> Amazingly, Amonet can find it - a bit dusty but fully intact! It seems it was caught underneath two metal girders that formed a sort of tent to keep it from being crushed!

Ebiris

[15:25] <Ebiris> Everyone else manages to rush out to the main foyer, where Mrs Gunderson cackles maniacally in her cage while the building collapses, several sections of ceiling and wall already having plummetted down, but not yet obscuring the way to the exit. "I'm safe in my cage!" she screams hysterically as a few Mercykillers are just seen fleeing out the door.
[15:37] * Gourash ignores the crazy woman, continuing until totally out of the building and cutting down anyone who gets between him and his friends and the exit.
[15:39] <Carthrat> Running *almost* for the door, Alveria yanks out a wand and turns invisible just before she breaches the exit...
[15:40] <Ebiris> roll 1d10
[15:40] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10 and gets 8." [1d10=8]
[15:41] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8
[15:41] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[15:41] <Gourash> Eagan brings up the rear, not desiring to be smashed any more than the next person, his morning star in hand.
[15:42] <Ebiris> As Eagan brings up the rear, a thunderous crash is heard behind him, the entire corridor being crushed by debris from above which smashes right through the floor and into the basement! But still the three heroes along with the panicked skeleton and dwarf flee out the front door while Amonet flies up in search of her recently made friend! (more)
[15:42] <Ebiris> OOC: Amonet into #evil
[15:45] <Ebiris> Marjorie's dragon is now gone, but several dozen Mercykillers are seen ahead, being whipped into formation by Shayeera who flies overhead, now having donned a gleaming golden breastplate, which makes her look even more angelic as she rallies her troops! A few panicked civilians are seen fleeing down streets in the distance, while the unfortunate duo in the stocks still maintain their sad position near the centre of the square.
[15:48] <Ebiris> From her vantage high above, Keylin can likewise see her friends escape the building, right into the path of the Mercykillers. But where are Amonet and Alveria?
[15:52] <Carthrat> "Go after her, Gourash," grunts Alveria. "I'm going to go release the prisoners. Eagan, uh, I dunno! Do something cool," she gripes, grabbing a scroll of resist fire and casting it as she dashes towards the prisoners.
[15:53] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[15:53] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 init!
[15:53] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 init! and gets 18." [1d20=17]
[15:53] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5 Shayeera
[15:53] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 Shayeera and gets 9." [1d20=4]
[15:53] <Carthrat> roll 1d20+1 init!
[15:53] * Hatbot --> "Carthrat rolls 1d20+1 init! and gets 20." [1d20=19]
[15:53] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5 Mercykiller Battallion (mob-a-like rules)
[15:53] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 Mercykiller Battallion (mob-a-like rules) and gets 13." [1d20=8]
[15:55] * Keylin whistles as she looks out for trouble, and is briefly tempted to wave to Gourash, but figures her new friend might not like that.
[15:56] <Gourash> roll 1d20+4 Eagan
[15:56] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+4 Eagan and gets 24." [1d20=20]
[15:56] <Ebiris> As high up as she is, Keylin can also see Amonet suddenly fly out from a side window of the city hall, a young elf glomming onto her!
[15:57] <Ebiris> OOC: actually, no she doesn't. Amonet won't appear for a couple of rounds.
[15:57] <Ebiris> OOC: Rat needs to nickchange and Keylin should roll init, btw, if she wants to do anything besides spectate
[15:58] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[15:58] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 11." [1d20=7]
[15:59] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[16:00] <Gourash> Eagan, seeing the crowd mobbing towards him, gestured forward, centering a tremendous burst off sound on the center of them to disorient them as he dashed off to the side, seeking to get some cover or at least, somewhere more narrow to make a stand.
[16:00] <Gourash> roll 1d8 sonic!
[16:00] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d8 sonic! and gets 6." [1d8=6]
[16:00] <Gourash> OOC: SIX DAMAGE TO EACH OF THEM!
[16:02] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+11
[16:02] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+11 and gets 17." [1d20=6]
[16:02] <Ebiris> Some of the Mercykillers are rocked by the sudden burst of sound from within their ranks, a few dropping their weapons as they're stunned, but the battallion as a whole stands firm!
[16:03] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[16:04] * Alveria starts bolting towards the prisoners, scroll of Knock in-hand to deal with their restraints!
[16:04] <Ebiris> None of the Mercykillers so much as glance at the invisible elf, their focus all on Eagan and Gourash.
[16:07] <Alveria> But first, she casts invisibilty on Eagan!
[16:07] <Ebiris> Eagan vanishes!
[16:07] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash!
[16:11] * Gourash continues his rush out, roaring and surprisingly kicking off the ground as he approaches them mob, flying towards Shayeera suddenly in a burst of speed, his axe leading the way violently.
[16:13] <Ebiris> OOC: attack?
[16:13] <Gourash> roll 1d20+22-6 (PA)
[16:13] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+22-6 (PA) and gets 31." [1d20=15]
[16:13] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[16:13] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+12
[16:13] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+12 and gets 39." [1d12=11]
[16:16] <Ebiris> With her back to Gourash as she marshalls her troops, Shayeera is caught utterly flat-footed as his axe crashes violently into her back, shredding through armour and skin and ribs alike! Emitting a screeching wail of agony, she buckles in midair, turning to face Gourash as he black blood drips freely to the ground below!
[16:18] <Ebiris> With Alveria and Keylin both invisible, the mob chooses to focus their rage on Gourash, a veritable fusillade of crossbow bolts soaring up at the barbarian!
[16:18] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[16:18] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 13." [1d20=1]
[16:18] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[16:18] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 31." [1d20=19]
[16:18] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[16:18] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 16." [1d20=4]
[16:18] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12 critfail check
[16:18] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 critfail check and gets 26." [1d20=14]
[16:18] <Ebiris> OOC: AC?
[16:18] <Ebiris> OOC: Eagan, not Keylin!
[16:18] <Gourash> OOC: 22, might be more since I'm in the air or whatnot.  Also I'm in melee for the purpose of ...oh Eagan?
[16:19] <Ebiris> OOC: Forget Eagan!
[16:19] <Gourash> OOC: Eagan also happens to have 22, 24 versus evil
[16:19] <Gourash> OOC: Huh
[16:19] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 2." [1d8=2]
[16:20] <Ebiris> Despite all the shots being fired, only one manages to hit Gourash, and it barely even scratches him.
[16:20] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[16:24] * Keylin winces at Shayeera's scream, but doesn't know how she can stop the fighting. She decides to fly closer to the half-orc and Erinyes, staying just overhead of them. "Both of you should stop fighting. Where will this get you?" Keylin exclaims, even if it might be futile.
[16:27] <Ebiris> "Tell him that!" the Erinyes cries as she tries to fend off the raging barbarian, deciding to fly away from him. "Gods, I hate this city!"
[16:27] <Ebiris> OOC: AoO, Gourash
[16:28] * Gourash strikes out, howling strongly in his battle rage.
[16:29] <Gourash> roll 1d20+20-6 (PA)
[16:29] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+20-6 (PA) and gets 30." [1d20=16]
[16:29] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+12
[16:29] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+12 and gets 35." [1d12=7]
[16:29] <Ebiris> But this time she slips aside from his blow, which only scrapes her armour without injury as she soars over towards Alveria, detaching a length of rope from her hip and tossing it at the mage!
[16:29] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+14
[16:29] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+14 and gets 15." [1d20=1]
[16:29] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+14 critfail laf
[16:29] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+14 critfail laf and gets 17." [1d20=3]
[16:30] <Ebiris> OOC: touch AC, Alvie?
[16:30] <Alveria> OOC: 12 lulz, wait is that attacking me multiple times?
[16:30] <Alveria> OOC: Oh no, just the critfail thing
[16:31] <Ebiris> Yet the rope misses the currently invisible mage, landing instead by her feet.
[16:31] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[16:33] <Gourash> OOC: Have I gotten some cover with my move last turn?
[16:34] <Ebiris> OOC: you're flying!
[16:34] <Gourash> OOC: No, I meant Eagan
[16:34] <Gourash> OOC: He was moving for cover last turn
[16:34] <Ebiris> OOC: Um, he could get cover by going back inside the collapsing building. Is that what he did?
[16:34] <Gourash> OOC: No.
[16:35] <Gourash> OOC: He ran off to the side
[16:35] <Ebiris> OOC: then no cover. But he's invisible!
[16:35] <Gourash> OOC: I am? Oh...cool!
[16:36] <Gourash> Eagan continues moving away from the building and the mob, going to his left from where he came out.  He keeps an eye on the Eryinees though, readying dispel magic if she starts casting anything.
[16:36] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[16:39] <Alveria> "Goddamnit!" shrieks Alvie, stepping gingerly around the rope. "Clerics! You in any shape to help?" she calls, staring warily at the erinyes, hands deep into her pockets!
[16:40] <Ebiris> "Who's that?" the grey-haired woman in the black robes shrieks. "Oh Cyric, great Prince of Lies, have you finally heard my pleas and sent aid?!"
[16:41] <Ebiris> "Be silent, Dagis! Clearly my beloved Sune has dispatched these forces to wrest power from the hateful Baatezu!" the man yells at her from the opposite stocks.
[16:43] <Alveria> "-er, yes! Cyric has sent me to rescue you! Soon you will be able to unleash our dark powers upon those foolish mercykillers!" proclaims Alveria, running to stand between the Suneite and the mob to cast Knock on his restraints!
[16:44] <Ebiris> "Well how come he's getting freed?!" the priestess replies angrily, struggling with her restraints as the lock pops off the other stocks and the Suneite cleric tiredly flips the top off and frees himself.
[16:44] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[16:45] * Gourash roars and continues his rush after the flying angel thing, not giving it any time to get away.
[16:45] <Gourash> roll 1d20+22-3 (PA)
[16:45] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+22-3 (PA) and gets 31." [1d20=12]
[16:46] <Ebiris> OOC: kersplat
[16:46] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+6
[16:46] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+6 and gets 34." [1d12=12]
[16:49] <Ebiris> With another brutal stroke of his axe, Gourash cuts deeply into the Erinyes, rending through her immaculate armour and ruining the flesh beneath! "Hells... no!" she gasps in agony, buckling in midair. "Bad enough to have such a task, but to end... like this?!" so crying against the indignity of it all, she tries to recover enough to fend off Gourash's merciless assault!
[16:50] <Ebiris> Meanwhile the battallion on the ground below starts moving towards the stocks, clambering onto the platform and overrunning Alveria's position even as a few crossbow bolts are fired up at Gourash!
[16:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[16:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 23." [1d20=11]
[16:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[16:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 2." [1d8=2]
[16:51] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+35
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+35 and gets 41." [1d20=6]
[16:51] <Ebiris> OOC: grapple check, Alvie
[16:51] <Alveria> OOC: Haha, you're such a gidder.
[16:51] <Alveria> OOC: Kidder.
[16:51] <Alveria> roll 1d20-2
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20-2 and gets 16." [1d20=18]
[16:51] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 18." [5d6=5, 5, 2, 1, 5]
[16:53] <Ebiris> Despite being invisible, Alveria is surrounded on all sides, grabbed by some and attacked by others, while both priests suffer the same fate as the Mercykillers unleash their lawful fury against the three stuck up on the stocks!
[16:53] <Ebiris> Meanwhile from her vantage, Keylin can see Amonet and some elf burst out of a window on the side of the crumbling city hall.
[16:53] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[16:55] <Ebiris> Gourash barely feels a crossbow bolt that happens to wing him as all this happens.
[16:55] <Keylin> "There are two people coming," Keylin offers the erinyes. She pauses and looks at her seriously. "I think you should run. Gourash might just kill you if you keep fighting him." She doesn't want her friend to die if at all possible!
[16:56] <Ebiris> "Well do something to stop him, then!" she screeches furiously in reply.
[16:58] <Alveria> "Aguhrghruhryl!"
[16:58] <Keylin> "Even if he's one of my friends, I don't think I can stop him when he's like this," Keylin says with a wince, as she watches Gourash in a frenzy to take her head.
[16:59] <Ebiris> "So. Much. Hate," Shayeera grinds out, fluttering back a few feet from Gourash before she blasts him in the face with a pair of fiery arrows.
[16:59] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+16
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+16 and gets 25." [1d20=9]
[16:59] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+11
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+11 and gets 27." [1d20=16]
[16:59] <Ebiris> roll 2d8+12+2d6
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2d8+12+2d6 and gets 30." [2d8=6, 6][2d6=4, 2]
[16:59] <Gourash> OOC: Two hits
[16:59] <Gourash> OOC: Ouch
[17:08] <Ebiris> Unlike the feeble crossbow bolts of before, these arrows introduce Gourash to a world of pain as they both explode, one right in his chest and the other in his face, charring off his eyebrows and disfiguring skin!
[17:08] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[17:12] <Gourash> Eagan stood by a nearby building at this point, watching the airborne battle carefully, ready to counter any magic the Eryinnes would bring to the fight.
[17:12] <Gourash> OOC: same action basically
[17:12] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[17:13] <Alveria> OOC: The joke was funny the first time, let's just say I get owned until I stop getting owned, as there is no way for me to intervene
[17:13] <Ebiris> OOC: Don't you have dimension door memorised?
[17:13] <Alveria> OOC: Yes, well, I'll remember that for next time >.>
[17:14] <Ebiris> OOC: Oh, you don't on the spells page. I could've sworn you mentioned prepping it beforehand, though. Oh, well.
[17:14] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[17:15] * Gourash is hurt.  is angry.  Is, very unfortunately, still standing, his charred eyebrows raging as he lifted his axe above his head, proceeding to strike it downwards and then across with blinding speed and ridiculous power behind it.
[17:15] <Gourash> OOC: Five foot step forward, then full attack
[17:15] <Gourash> roll 1d20+22-7 (PA) Attack 1
[17:15] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+22-7 (PA) Attack 1 and gets 25." [1d20=10]
[17:15] <Gourash> roll 1d20+22-7 (PA) Attack 2
[17:15] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+22-7 (PA) Attack 2 and gets 30." [1d20=15]
[17:16] <Gourash> roll 1d20+17-7 (PA) Attack 3
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+17-7 (PA) Attack 3 and gets 29." [1d20=19]
[17:16] <Ebiris> OOC: 1 hit
[17:16] <Gourash> OOC: Man I was way too greedy there.
[17:16] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+14
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+14 and gets 36." [1d12=6]
[17:19] <Ebiris> While she twists aside from the first strike, Gourash's second attack catches her right in the midsection! Doubling over his axe, he feels her flesh give way before the power of his axe as her body goes limp, the fallen angel being sent on a careening arc across the square as she expires, a trail of black blood spraying through the air to mark her passage as she falls and lands in a broken heap of flesh and feathers...
[17:20] <Ebiris> With a cry of fury at the death of their leader, the mob continues to mercilessly assail Alveria and the two clerics, while firing off a flurry of crossbow bolts up at Gourash!
[17:20] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[17:20] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 31." [1d20=19]
[17:20] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[17:20] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 21." [1d20=9]
[17:20] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[17:20] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 30." [1d20=18]
[17:20] <Ebiris> OOC: AC? Haste now ended
[17:20] <Gourash> OOC: 21 versus evil 19 normal.
[17:21] <Ebiris> roll 3d8
[17:21] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d8 and gets 14." [3d8=2, 5, 7]
[17:22] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[17:22] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 18." [5d6=4, 1, 6, 5, 2]
[17:22] <Ebiris> This time their aim is far better, striking Gourash with several bolts which pierce into his already charred and ruined flesh while Alveria continues to be pummelled viciously about the face and neck!
[17:22] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin. Note you're not friends with any of those other dudes.
[17:23] <Ebiris> Keylin can see Amonet now flying up and rescuing a Mercykiller at the side of the building while the battle still rages below...
[17:26] * Keylin decides to help defeat the men attacking Gourash! They're not only hitting him, they might hit Shayeera! She lowers the broom so she's in ground level and pulls out her bow so she can protect Gourash and Shayeera while they have their little quarrel. If the erinyes wants to keep fighting with Gourash, that means she's not about to die any time soon from his love taps!
[17:28] <Ebiris> OOC: balance or ride check, whichever is better
[17:28] <Keylin> roll 1d20+8
[17:28] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+8 and gets 12." [1d20=4]
[17:29] <Ebiris> Keylin finds that she almost slips off when she tries to use her bow, having to use one hand to steady herself on the broom and prevent falling! This of course means she can't fire her bow, sadly.
[17:29] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[17:32] <Gourash> Eagan senses through his magic Status that Gourash would soon need his aid, preparing a cure serious wounds and readying it to cast as soon as Gourash comes into range.
[17:33] <Ebiris> OOC: Since I presume Alvie is waiting to be rescued, go Gourash!
[17:33] <Gourash> Gourash shivered, heading down towards the glowing cleric as he quaffed a potion of cure moderate wounds.
[17:34] <Gourash> roll 2d8+3 moderate
[17:34] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 2d8+3 moderate and gets 11." [2d8=5, 3]
[17:34] <Gourash> roll 3d8+5 serious
[17:34] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 3d8+5 serious and gets 18." [3d8=1, 4, 8]
[17:35] <Gourash> OOC: +4 more according to Alvie
[17:38] <Ebiris> Gourash feels revitalised while Alveria continues to be beaten up on all sides! But in the distance, those not currently embroiled in melee can see a horde of rampaging ex-convicts charging down the street from the direction of the prison (a lot of buildings in that area seem to have caught fire, as well), screaming and hollering as they race to join the fray!
[17:38] <Ebiris> Amonet is also visible away from the battle as she brutally pummels the Mercykiller she just rescued.
[17:38] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:39] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[17:39] * Keylin fires an arrow at whomever looks to be the most violent of those mercykillers.
[17:39] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 17." [5d6=1, 6, 5, 1, 4]
[17:40] <Ebiris> They all look plenty violent - Keylin can take her pick! Assuming she can stay upright on the darn broom, anyway...
[17:40] <Ebiris> OOC: ride or balance
[17:41] <Keylin> roll 1d20+8
[17:41] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+8 and gets 21." [1d20=13]
[17:41] <Ebiris> OOC: go ahead and attack
[17:41] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:41] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+10 and gets 15." [1d20=5]
[17:41] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:42] <Keylin> roll 1d8+3
[17:42] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d8+3 and gets 4." [1d8=1]
[17:42] <Keylin> ooc: how exciting.
[17:42] <Ebiris> Keylin's arrow is lost in the scrum below - she thinks she hit something, but it'd be hard to miss with so many targets.
[17:42] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan & Gourash
[17:42] <Alveria> "Mmpshmsphshrguyahrgh!"
[17:50] <Gourash> OOC: Holy smite
[17:51] <Ebiris> OOC: Go ahead
[17:51] <Gourash> roll 4d8 holy smite (I think it may do only half versus neutral but it does affect them), will save 15 (I think), blinds for 1 round
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 4d8 holy smite (I think it may do only half versus neutral but it does affect them), will save 15 (I think), blinds for 1 round and gets 24." [4d8=3, 7, 6, 8]
[17:52] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+9
[17:52] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+9 and gets 13." [1d20=4]
[17:53] <Ebiris> Within the melee many of the participants cry out in pain, a few of them dropping - including the priestess of Cyric, who appears to have taken far worse from the effect. But Alveria and the beleagured priest of Sune are unharmed!
[17:54] <Alveria> OOC: Ima gonna act now
[17:54] <Ebiris> OOC: Go ahead
[17:55] <Alveria> While the smiting takes place, Alveria focuses her mind and spews forth a shearing beam of light, haphazardly through the crowd!
[17:55] <Ebiris> OOC: concentration check
[17:55] <Alveria> roll 1d20+13 concentration, I think.
[17:55] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+13 concentration, I think. and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[17:55] <Ebiris> OOC: passes. What spell?
[17:56] <Alveria> OOC: I can't cast spells with Somantic components, right?
[17:56] <Alveria> OOC: Which'd make it searing light, as it's my only sp
[17:56] <Ebiris> OOC: 'kay
[17:56] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 lolz touch attack
[17:56] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 lolz touch attack and gets 7." [1d20=2]
[17:56] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[17:56] <Alveria> roll 4d8
[17:56] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 4d8 and gets 26." [4d8=6, 5, 7, 8]
[17:57] <Ebiris> Alveria's divinely granted beam of light cores through the melee, making her visible and slaying several of the combatants! Meanwhile, Keylin hears Amonet call out to ask if they need assistance.
[17:57] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash?
[17:58] * Gourash proceeds to introduce the mob to the orc comet, ignoring his tiring muscles as he charged them and struck out with his axe.
[17:59] <Gourash> roll 1d20+21-7 (PA) Attack The Mob!
[17:59] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+21-7 (PA) Attack The Mob! and gets 16." [1d20=2]
[17:59] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:59] <Gourash> OOC: Yay
[17:59] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+14 DAMAGE.  I also Cleave If I can =)
[17:59] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+14 DAMAGE. I also Cleave If I can =) and gets 42." [1d12=12]
[18:00] <Ebiris> OOC: cleave away, it's kinda a given against this sort of foe
[18:00] <Gourash> roll 1d20+21-7 (PA) Attack The Mob! Cleave!
[18:00] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+21-7 (PA) Attack The Mob! Cleave! and gets 24." [1d20=10]
[18:01] <Gourash> roll 1d12+13+3+14 MORE DAMAGE!
[18:01] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+13+3+14 MORE DAMAGE! and gets 39." [1d12=9]
[18:01] <Ebiris> OOC: you need to roll to hit for the second, still
[18:01] <Gourash> OOC: I did.  See the 24
[18:01] <Ebiris> OOC: sorry
[18:01] <Gourash> OOC: Marked 'Cleave!'
[18:02] <Ebiris> With a single mighty sweep of his axe as he dives into the fray, Gourash hacks aside several of the Mercykillers, before lunging in even deeper into the heart of the group and hacking wildly into yet more as limbs and blood fly freely around him!
[18:02] <Ebiris> A lone voice is called from within the group, yelling out, "Squad broken!" as the group disperses, the survivors fleeing desperately from the battle, no longer in any sort of coherent fighting formation!
[18:05] <Alveria> "Urgh..." grunts Alveria, still invisible, and still prone on the ground after that. Pulling her tattered cloak together, she limps towards the Suneite, checking to see how he came out of it.
[18:05] <Ebiris> OOC: not invisible - you shot your searing orb!
[18:05] <Alveria> OOC: Oh, right.
[18:05] <Alveria> OOC: It hardly matters, I guess.
[18:06] * Gourash stands looking fiercely but not chasing after the fleeing ones, noticing Alveria on the floor. "Alive?" He grunted at her.
[18:06] <Ebiris> He's slumped over and badly beaten, but still breathing... still, there's a lot of blood pooling about him. Nearby you can see a few unfortunate mercykillers blunder into the rioting prisoners and be promptly torn apart by the onrushing horde.
[18:07] <Alveria> "Yeah. Somehow. Get Eagan over here," she says. "Dammit. None of that should've been necessary..."
[18:08] <Gourash> Eagan was already rushing over, bringing healing goodness to Alveria with a cure moderate wounds!
[18:08] <Gourash> roll 2d8+9
[18:08] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 2d8+9 and gets 21." [2d8=4, 8]
[18:08] <Ebiris> A few prisoners are seen breaking off from the large cluster, seeing that the battle appears over. Some appear content to run down fleeing Mercykillers, while a small group approach Shayeera's broken form with greedy looks.
[18:08] <Gourash> "I'm here already," The cleric replied.
[18:09] <Alveria> "I meant for him," continues Alvie, pointing at the Suneite. "He'll be able to get control of his guys, I think."
[18:09] <Gourash> Gourash, while this is happening, focuses on their pay.  Particularly where the Eryinnes went down.
[18:10] <Ebiris> "Watchful Skull!" a wild-eyed rioter approaches the stocks, looking in despair at the quite dead form of the Cyric high priestess. "Oh, Prince of Lies, why have you forsaken us?!" he wails, falling to the ground.
[18:10] <Ebiris> Gourash can see three of the prisoners have already found the Erinyes and are starting to manhandle her armour off of her.
[18:10] <Gourash> Eagan follows it with a cure serious (Sacrificing bestow curse)
[18:10] <Gourash> (For the Sune)
[18:11] <Gourash> roll 3d8+9
[18:11] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 3d8+9 and gets 20." [3d8=3, 2, 6]
[18:11] * Gourash growls, approaching with his axe and not hesitating to cut them down if they get in the way. "Looting my kill?"
[18:12] <Gourash> OOC: IS the other  one alive to heal?
[18:12] <Alveria> OOC: We care not for the other one >.>
[18:12] <Gourash> OOC: Okay!
[18:12] <Ebiris> One look at Gourash's blood-soaked form is enough to convince them. "Er, sorry chief, she's all yours!" one yelps, the three rapidly making haste away from the corpse.
[18:12] <Ebiris> OOC: Suneite is at negative hp, Cyricist is quite dead
[18:13] <Gourash> OOC: Cured the sunite for 20 above)
[18:13] <Gourash> OOC: So he should be alive
[18:15] <Ebiris> ---------
[18:17] <Ebiris> With Xaos in ruins, the party of heroes is victorious! Nasfreiyin looks a little wide-eyed at all the destruction when she teleports into town and meets the group. "Wow... this isn't really what I had in mind, you guys..." she mutters, looking around at the wreckage of her beloved town.
[18:17] <Amonet> "Yes, it wasn't," Amonet agrees tersely.
[18:19] * Alveria sits herself down on the town square, looking mutely at the trail of destruction from the prison to the centre.
[18:19] <Ebiris> "Um, anyway... payment, yes. I'll pay you and then you'll go away," she nods to herself, showing none of the poise she had back at your first meeting. "Er..." she glances again at the vast heap of rubble where the city hall was, while smoke still looms from the dying fires on the town's east side. "Did you really have to blow up half the town?" she asks despairingly.
[18:20] * Gourash shrugged.  "The angel was difficult," He was less affected than the others due to having seen such things before.
[18:20] <Amonet> "We didn't blow it up!" Amonet insists, stomping her foot angrily.
[18:21] <Ebiris> "Oh... some sort of 'If I can't have Xaos then no one can' thing by Shayeera?" Nasfreiyin asks, calming slightly. "I suppose that fits..."
[18:23] <Alveria> "Why do you care, anyway?" asks Alveria, sullenly. "Are you going to put yourself in charge or something?"
[18:24] <Gourash> "Probably because it her home," Gourash showing the slightest hint of empathy.  "No one likes home crushed."
[18:24] * Amonet looks down sadly.
[18:24] <Ebiris> "I care because it's my home you... grrr!" the blonde demon turns to spear Alveria with an angry look. "You think it's easy to find a place that'll take you in and accept you for what you are without any judgements when you're a tana'ri?"
[18:26] * Alveria looks like she's been shot for a moment, and then looks away. "..sorry."
[18:27] <Ebiris> Nasfreiyin deflates, sighing. "My fault. I'm the one who asked you to... bah," she waves a delicate hand, as if dismissing the matter. "A deal's a deal. Would you prefer money or knowledge?"
[18:28] <Amonet> "I would prefer that you first prove that you are a good person despite your upbringing," Amonet says firmly.
[18:28] * Gourash blinks, eying Amonet. "Huh, what does that matter...we had a deal."
[18:29] <Gourash> "It all fair."
[18:29] <Amonet> "I don't think this town can handle another 'rescue' like that!" Amonet exclaims. "If she is evil we have to save it once and for all, not leave and let this repeat."
[18:29] <Ebiris> She blinks and eyes Amonet. "You want me to prove *I'm* the good person?" she asks incredulously, before looking at the gutted town around her. "Please tell me you're not serious."
[18:31] <Amonet> "Well, can you?" Amonet asks defensively.
[18:31] <Alveria> "So what should we do, have her save a cat?" snorts Alveria, standing up.
[18:32] <Amonet> "How should I know? You're the one who said we'd do it!" Amonet tells the elf angrily.
[18:32] <Gourash> "most of it done by her troops, prisoner, and I think some gnome.  We said for knowledge and gems.  Wipe out angel and allies but good for that." (Grawr, BRB X_X)
[18:32] <Ebiris> "Your friend at least has some sense," she inclines her head to Alveria. "How would you have me prove what lies in my heart?" she asks, holding a hand over her rather modestly covered chest.
[18:33] * Gourash growls in disagreement with Amonet. "It no matter.  We accept work.  Why would we hunt her afterwards.  Even if she bad, not like town would be worse off."
[18:33] <Alveria> "Well, that was before everything went to hell!" replies Alveria, irritably. "Man. Ask around town. If it really *accepted her for who she was*- then some people will be able to vouch for her. But I don't care. What was I going to do with Lloth's lore anyway? Screw it."
[18:34] * Alveria starts to leave, heading back towards their inn, or at least the wreckage.
[18:34] <Amonet> "Then I'll go and do just that," Amonet responds, matching her irritation, and leaves as well to question people.
[18:35] * Gourash stares in confusion at his comrades, so enflamed over the good or evil of the tanar'ri.
[18:37] <Ebiris> Sighing again, Nasfreiyin reaches into a pouch in her belt and tosses an irridescent sphere to Gourash. It seems to shift colours through the rainbow all of its own volition, even when motionless. "That's a rogue stone. Should be worth at least three thousand gold, probably more depending on where you sell it," she tells him tiredly, before extending her pink fleshy wings and flying off in the opposite direction from Amonet and Alveria.

Ebiris

After the battle, most of the party retires to the Sickened Slaad (fortunately still standing, and quite a bit busier) to recuperate. Amonet however spends her time trawling the streets for dirt on Nasfreiyin, finding out the following:

[21:54] <Corwin> roll 1d20+6 Gather Info
[21:54] * Hatbot --> "Corwin rolls 1d20+6 Gather Info and gets 14." [1d20=8]

Amonet's first attempt turns up one guy who says Nasfreiyin's a filthy temptress and whore who ruined the fine moral standing of Xaos.

[21:56] <Corwin> roll 1d20+9 guidance, nobility, don't fail~
[21:56] * Hatbot --> "Corwin rolls 1d20+9 guidance, nobility, don't fail~ and gets 16." [1d20=7]

A few hours later, Amonet runs into a guy who says that Nasfreiyin's pretty nice and never seemed to do anyone any harm, but really uptight (for a succubus) and keeps to herself a lot - mainly because she has a lot of unsavoury admirers she tends to avoid. The Erinyes seemed to have a personal hate for her, and made special effort to hunt her down when she first took over town.

[22:01] <Corwin> roll 1d20+7 another guidance, I wonder, could I roll worse?
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Corwin rolls 1d20+7 another guidance, I wonder, could I roll worse? and gets 27." [1d20=20]

[22:04] <Ebiris> This time Amonet runs into a shady looking tiefling who says that apparently Nasfreiyin used to be pretty popular in the lower planes, but she did something to *really* piss off some higher up demons - he doesn't know the specifics, but it seemed to involve wiping out an entire Drow noble house - and she's been on the run ever since. He also notes that she gets quite viciously defensive whenever anyone implies anything sexual about her.
[22:04] <Ebiris> Marjorie gives a loud cheer at the drow part.

This basically takes Amonet the rest of the day, and it's quite late by the time she returns to the tavern.

So, what is everyone else doing?

Carthrat

I'm going to find the Suneite leader and ask him what he plans to do next, with the implication that he's in charge now.
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Ebiris

Alveria finds Heartkeeper Lucas and a dozen or so other people busily clearing rubble to the North of town. In reply to her query, he tells her that his first priority is ministering to his congregation, and rebuilding the temple - apparently it was incredibly beautiful, before the Mercykillers tore it down.

Ebiris

[21:56] <Ebiris> It's getting quite late after Amonet has finished getting information on Nasfreiyin's past and status within Xaos, and the sky has already darkened. Municipal lighting doesn't seem like much of a priority for Xaos, although Marjorie as always makes it seem like midday around her, while more than a few bonfires are spread few the town, quite a few people celebrating the departure of the Mercykillers. (more)
[22:00] <Ebiris> It takes a bit of asking and a bit of searching, but soon Amonet finds her quarry, in the midst of a fairly large street party on the mostly undamaged west side of town. She's perched up on the roof of a domed two storey building, idly kicking her legs over the side and watching the festivities below.
[22:00] <Ebiris> A few people occasionally try to coax her down, while others simply stare at her in a somewhat love stricken manner, but most people seem too busy partying to be distracted even by a succubus, drinks being passed freely while the population dances and sings.
[22:01] * Amonet looks around for an easy access to the roof, perhaps in the form of a ladder.
[22:04] <Ebiris> Amonet's in luck - there's a ladder propped up against some scaffolding further down the street, next to a half-complete building. As she looks around, she's suddenly bumped into by a familiar long-haired elf - Giselle looks even more bedraggled than usual, but she also seems rather happy, if obviously intoxicated.
[22:04] <Ebiris> "Hiii, Amonet!" she carols, leaning on the paladin, "You come to join the party?!" she asks, yelling over the ruckus pervading the area.
[22:06] <Amonet> "I'm afraid not," Amonet responds, helping the elf remain on her feet. "And I don't think you've met Marjorie in person yet, have you?"
[22:08] <Ebiris> "She's your talkin' glowy lance, right?" Giselle asks, her arm snaking over Amonet's shoulder to pat the shiny weapon. "Hiiya, Marjorie! Didja stab that mean ol' fake angel good?"
[22:09] <Ebiris> "Um, well, I can't really take credit, it was mostly Amonet, after all," Marjorie's high pitched voice is heard, struggling against the din. She sounds a little bit uncomfortable.
[22:10] <Amonet> "She deserved it," Amonet says, adding, "Marjorie, why don't you start retaking human form again? You can do that from time to time, right?"
[22:12] <Ebiris> "Not really - I'm pretty much bound completely inside the lance," Marjorie's voice is heard, while Giselle tilts her head away from you and burps noisily, before grinning sheepishly. "I'm pretty sure if I tried to leave then I'd get pulled back to the High Forest."
[22:13] <Amonet> "Ah," Amonet says sadly. "Well, just use your image for now, then? We'll figure out a better way eventually, I bet."
[22:18] <Ebiris> "I suppose I can do that," Marjorie replies agreeably, before a human girl looking about the same physical age as Giselle appears beside the pair, ignoring the fact that someone's arm just went right through her as they walked past. She's wearing the same puffy blue and white peasant dress Marjorie wore back when you first met her, with a red headband holding back some of her pale blonde locks.
[22:18] <Ebiris> "Hi," the voice still comes from the lance even as the girl waves.
[22:18] <Ebiris> "Oh, wow..." Giselle blinks owlishly, before letting go of Amonet and attempting to hug Marjorie. This ends predictably as she falls through the illusion, landing on her hands and knees half inside 'Marjorie' who looks rather perturbed by the whole thing.
[22:20] <Amonet> "You've had enough to drink," Amonet says sternly, helping Giselle up again. "That you drank to begin with is bad enough."
[22:21] <Ebiris> "Heeey, I'm older than you," Giselle sing songs, though she does sway quite dizzily in Amonet's grasp.
[22:22] <Amonet> "I am probably wiser," Amonet counters, shaking her head, before smiling. "And I'm definitely stronger, which handily wins the argument for me."
[22:25] <Ebiris> "C'mon, it's not every day that..." Giselle trails off, before her cheeks bulge out and her skin adopts a vaguely green cast. Leaning away from Amonet, she proceeds to throw up, the pale yellow semi-solid vomit spattering through Marjorie's intangible form. "So glad that's not really me," your lance mutters while her illusion bravely ignores the indignity.
[22:26] * Amonet winces, holding the elf's hair back as she pats her gently on her back. "Now you've had enough?" she asks.
[22:27] <Ebiris> "Maybe..." Giselle mutters reluctantly as she finishes up, now seeming a bit more subdued.
[22:28] <Amonet> "Where is your home? I'll take you there," Amonet offers.
[22:29] <Ebiris> "Just down the street," she points the way you came, towards a leaning circular tower, one of the larger buildings around this area. "Ugh... it was worth it anyway," she gives Amonet a brave puke-stained smile. "Hasn't been a party this good in ages."
[22:31] * Amonet finds a clean scrap of fabric to clean up her face, dabbing at it with magically-summoned water, and aids Giselle return home.
[22:34] <Ebiris> It doesn't take long to bundle Giselle into her small tenement in the leaning tower. "Thanks again for savin' me and Mr Fumblbusti...fuh...groosa... Him!" she gives up on remembering its name and instead jabs a finger violently towards the googly eyed beholder, smiling vacantly as falls into bed and cuddles up with it, snoring away in no time.
[22:35] * Amonet tucks her in, and leaves after making sure the apartment is secure.
[22:37] <Ebiris> This is easily done. Heading back the way you came, you see that Marjorie left her illusion standing there... which is currently being berated by a drunk looking orc. "You're some sorta ice queen, aintcha? Too good ta talk wiv the likes of me, issat it?!" he demands, waving a tankard around as he remonstrates the unresponsive illusion.
[22:38] <Amonet> "Please don't bother my friend," Amonet tells the drunk firmly. "I have a holy lance and know how to use it." She indeed holds up Marjorie's real, glowing body.
[22:40] <Ebiris> "Whoops," you hear Marjorie mutter as the illusion comes to life, looking apologetic and backing away from the orc.
[22:40] <Ebiris> "Bah! What's wiv everyone bein' so uptight? Just tryin' ta be friendly and look what it gets..." he mutters in disgust, walking away presumably in search of more young girls to befriend.
[22:41] <Amonet> "Should I stop him before he tries to befriend more underaged girls?" Amonet asks Marjorie. "He did seem harmless, but I wonder...."
[22:43] <Ebiris> "Um... it'll probably be okay. He wasn't evil, was he?" Marjorie asks hesitantly.
[22:43] * Amonet makes sure!
[22:46] <Ebiris> Amonet does sense evil! Focusing on it a bit more, none of it comes from the orc - there's faint evil from a few other partygoers, and... wow, someone's radiating more evil than she's ever felt before! It isn't hard at all to pinpoint the nigh overwhelming aura as coming from the succubus sitting on a nearby rooftop. She seems to be looking in your direction, too.
[22:47] * Amonet lets go of the feeling, and gives her a hesitant wave before attempting to use the ladder she had seen earlier.
[22:48] <Ebiris> No one seems to argue with the heavily armed and armoured holy warrior as she commandeers the ladder, although getting it over to the domed building without hitting anyone is a trial, she nonetheless perseveres in order to reach her goal. Nasfreiyin just watches your progress with a look of curiousity on her too perfect features, not moving.
[22:49] <Ebiris> Marjorie lets her illusion vanish as you leave the area in order to prevent a repeat of the previous scene.
[22:51] * Amonet smiles apologetically at people she narrowly avoids hitting with the ladder, before finally placing it against the side of the building Nasfreiyin is at and climbing it.
[22:55] <Ebiris> "Something I can help you with?" Nasfreiyin asks once Amonet is all the way up, seeming quite comfortable on her perch as she lets her legs dangle over the edge while her wings fan out behind her.
[22:56] <Amonet> "Mind if I sit here?" Amonet asks, settling next to her.
[22:58] <Ebiris> "It is a free city," the succubus smiles, baring a set of flawless pearly white teeth as she shifts one of her wings to make room for Amonet.
[22:58] <Ebiris> "Is it really true you killed a bunch of dark elves?!" Marjorie blurts out excitedly, half interrupting the end of Nasfreiyin's statement.
[22:59] <Amonet> "Their kind killed Marjorie and her family," Amonet adds solemnly.
[23:01] <Ebiris> The succubus looks briefly surprised at the outburst, and Amonet's explanation doesn't appear to help her. Schooling her features, however, she smoothly replies, "I try not to pay attention to the rumours that swirl about me. Is that what they're saying, these days?" she asks casually, idly examining her fingernails. Naturally, they're perfectly manicured.
[23:03] <Amonet> "What people are saying about you is that you're not a bad person," Amonet tells the succubus. "I believe them, and I now think that I was wrong, so I wanted to come here and tell you that."
[23:06] <Ebiris> "Your approval is not required, but appreciated," Nasfreiyin nods her head gracefully towards Amonet. "For what it's worth, your friend has my sympathies. I do not doubt that the warped imaginations of the Drow would engender a most unpleasant demise."
[23:06] <Ebiris> Marjorie makes a barely coherent noise of agreement at that, but doesn't speak up further.
[23:07] <Amonet> "What are your plans, now? Just keep on living here as a regular citizen?"
[23:09] <Ebiris> "Yes..." Nasfreiyin smiles more widely, gesturing to the party taking place below. "Is it not glorious? This is why I love this town - the people are so resilient, able to adapt and bounce back from anything. Even if I'm not in the mood to celebrate, tonight, I can still appreciate the people who are."
[23:10] <Amonet> "Then I would like to wish you and this city luck. And that no devils come to place it under their thumb again," Amonet comments, following her gesture and observing the party from the rooftop.
[23:13] <Ebiris> "I doubt any will be in a hurry to try after what happened to Shayeera," Nasfreiyin replies. "What of yourselves? Moving on?"
[23:14] <Amonet> "Yes, fairly soon," Amonet agrees. "I was told that there is a portal in that strange building next to city square, the one with all the iron?"
[23:16] <Ebiris> "It's built over the exact centre of the city, so the portal does graviate there quite often," Nasfreiyin nods. "Of course, even when it is there, it's still impossible to use without the key."
[23:17] <Amonet> "The key?" she asks curiously.
[23:22] <Ebiris> "Just as the portal moves location, so does the key to open it also change," Nasfreiyin explains. "Only a soul filled with Chaos can discern the correct key without magic." She smiles, and while it may be a condescending one, it's so attention getting and perfect that it's hard to feel offended.
[23:24] <Amonet> "I think we have both in a single package," Amonet mutters, before sighing. "Speaking of her, I believe Alveria made a rash decision earlier. I am certain she would regret it, yet remain too proud to admit it, so I have decided to ask you in her stead. Would you sell me the magical knowledge you offered her?"
[23:26] <Ebiris> "Are you sure?" she cocks her head curiously towards Amonet. "Given your friend's feelings on the Drow, I am not sure if this knowledge would be useful to you."
[23:27] <Amonet> "I won't be the one using it..." Amonet says, uncertain. "What exactly is objectional about this knowledge, besides its origin?"
[23:32] <Ebiris> Nasfreiyin laughs, an elegant and musical sound that sets your heart aflutter. "It's Evil, my dear. Not the sort of magic you can perform without leaving deep stains on your soul. To say nothing of how little use it'd be to someone who hates spiders."
[23:32] <Ebiris> That prompts a scared whimper from Marjorie. "H-how did you know?" she asks weakly.
[23:34] <Amonet> "That settles it, then," Amonet says instantly, as she looks at Nasfreiyin chidingly. "You should have made that clear from the start, you know."
[23:39] <Ebiris> She shrugs her delicate shoulders in reply. "I honestly did not think mere gems would be enough payment, and had little else with which to sweeten the deal," she replies apologetically, before glancing down at her exquisitely formed body, "Many of my sisters would have gladly found another means of payment in my position, but I don't think that would have satisfied either of us."
[23:39] <Ebiris> Glancing towards the mithril lance on Amonet's back, she goes on, looking and sounding sincere enough, "My apologies, Marjorie. I only took a peek in your mind when I heard two voices but only saw one person."
[23:42] <Amonet> Amonet's features soften at that. "I suppose I can forgive a white lie like that, especially in your situation," she admits, biting her lip. "And I think it is very admirable the way you behave, and not take the easy path."
[23:44] <Ebiris> "Just don't do it again," Marjorie mutters softly, while Nasfreiyin's expression hardens slightly, looking away.
[23:44] <Ebiris> "Oh, that path is anything but easy, believe me," she replies, a trace of bitterness in her voice.
[23:44] * Amonet is hesitant, before she awkwardly pats the succubus on her shoulder.
[23:52] <Ebiris> Slowly turning back towards Amonet, Nasfreiyin smiles crookedly... although it's just a flash before her smile smooths out into that damnably perfect and alluring expression she seemingly can't help but portray. "Shouldn't a Good girl like you be in bed at this hour, anyway, instead of fraternising with a fallen demon?" she asks lightly.
[23:54] <Amonet> "W-Well, it's not like I have a curfew," Amonet stammers at the unexpected turn in conversation. "If I'm bothering you I could just go back to my inn," she offers.
[23:56] <Ebiris> "Honestly? I suppose I don't mind," Nasfreiyin admits. "You're not as bad as you were earlier. Not worried about being corrupted by me?"
[23:59] <Amonet> "If I were that easy to corrupt I would have given up my path long ago," Amonet muses. "I'll stick around in case the party below gets too out of hand and someone gets hurt, and I don't mind the company either, myself."

Ebiris

[15:01] <Ebiris> The day after liberating Xaos, the party reconvenes over breakfast in the Sickened Slaad to plan their next move. A few other patrons are seen within, most seeming to be nursing quite brutal hangovers after yesterday's festivities - once the riots calmed down, it seems most of the city chose to put their energy into partying something fierce to celebrate the end of the Mercykiller regime.
[15:03] <Alveria> "Guess we better go have a look at that portal," grumps Alveria, pulling her pointy red hat off the back of her chair and onto her head.
[15:04] <Amonet> "Someone of your unique skills would be best suited for this task, but I will aid you in whatever way I can," Amonet agrees.
[15:05] <Alveria> "Yes. I'm very grateful for everyone's aid," remarks Alveria, standing up. "But it should all be done with soon."
[15:05] <Ebiris> "Has anyone been able to find out where it is?" Puk'lor asks as he pecks at his mushroom omelette, seeming somewhat more droopy than normal. He didn't seem thrilled with all the loud partying last night, after all.
[15:06] <Alveria> "How hard can it be to find? There's always someone who knows about these things."
[15:06] <Amonet> "Around city hall," Amonet responds, detailing all she knows about the subject.
[15:06] <Keylin> "The city hall you guys blew up?" asks Keylin.
[15:07] <Alveria> "It wasn't *us*," grunts Alveria, standing up and starting to head out.
[15:08] * Gourash finishes his meal and stands. "I see too," and with that decides to follow Alveria, not having much better to do yet
[15:08] * Keylin shrugs. "Heh, okay. I'd heard it was you." She leaves unsaid who said it was them.
[15:09] * Eagan pushes his plate away and picks up a mug of ale, heading for the door as well.
[15:11] * Keylin waits to see if Amonet stands up and follows the other. If everyone's going, might as well stick together.
[15:11] * Amonet already promised to help Alveria, and has no reason not to.
[15:11] <Ebiris> Out the party go! The streets of Xaos, which previously were spotlessly clean, are now riddled with litter and deritrus from yesterday's carnage, a few vagrants seen sleeping under the awnings of buildings while some bleary-eyed merchants put up their stalls for the day. There's also some blood on the streets, as a reminder that yesterday wasn't all about celebrating.
[15:12] * Eagan drinks his ale as they go, watching the general area..
[15:12] * Alveria starts circling around the remains of city hall, looking for something.. portal-like. Yes.
[15:13] * Gourash wonders to Puk'lor. "How portal finding work?  Can you just see it?"
[15:13] <Ebiris> Reaching the town square, the dome of crossed iron bars is still intact, unlike the raised platform that once bore the stocks, now reduced to kindling, and the shattered debris of the city hall. A few people are already there, picking through the rubble - whether in search of survivors or looting is hard to say.
[15:13] * Amonet examines the area near the dome in question.
[15:14] <Alveria> "This it?" queries Alveria, walking up to the little dome and poking it.
[15:14] <Ebiris> "I am not an expert on portals," the monk admits with a shrug. "As I understand it, they can appear within any bound space, but most will not open without a specific key such as the rock Miss Ward gave us before. Considering the nature of this portal, I suspect its location and key are in flux."
[15:15] <Ebiris> Feels metally! Some rust scrapes off where Alveria's finger pokes. It's also not that little - the radius is about 20 feet, with lots of room inside.
[15:15] <Alveria> "Oh. That's going to make things hard," complains Alveria. "Hey, you! You know how to find the portal to Limbo?" she asks some random passerby.
[15:17] <Ebiris> "What do I look like, a... oh, it's you guys!" the greasy haired young man walking past initially looks put out at the questioning, but swiftly changes his attitude after seeing who's asking. "I dunno, the portal hasn't appeared ever since the Mercykillers took over - with them gone it should be back, I'd think, but I dunno where. It's random, innit?"
[15:17] <Alveria> "What's it look like?"
[15:19] <Ebiris> He looks slack-jawed in thought for a moment. "Um... portal... -like?" he eventually hazards. "I mean, you never actually see it except when it's activated, and that only lasts a few seconds while someone goes through."
[15:20] <Alveria> "Mmmhmm..." Forgetting about this guy, Alveria starts heading to where the temple of Sune *used* to be.
[15:22] <Ebiris> Soon enough, Alveria and company reach the ruined temple. It's looking a lot better since yesterday, with the rubble now cleared and some people now starting work on construction. Heartkeeper Lucas is seen looking over a wooden table with two other men, its surface covered in sheets of paper.
[15:23] <Alveria> "Heartkeeper! You wouldn't know anything about the portal that's supposed to be around here, would you?"
[15:26] <Ebiris> "Ahh, if it isn't our town's saviours!" the cleric smiles, clapping his hands and coming over to meet the group. He looks a lot better since yesterday, vital and unbruised, wearing a simple but clearly expensive silken tunic and pants. "You mean the portal to Limbo, yes?"
[15:27] <Alveria> "Yep. That's why we're here, after all."
[15:30] <Ebiris> "Well, the portal is tricky by nature, since it constantly changes both its location and the key," he admits, rubbing his now stubble-free chin. "Finding it isn't too hard, since it'll appear as an area of powerful conjuration magic if you can detect such things. The key, however, is a tricky thing - it can be something as ephemereal as a thought or a feeling, or it can be a very real physical object.
[15:30] <Ebiris> Ordinarily I'd suggest asking a Chaotic Outsider, since they have a knack for such things. Unfortunately, I think they've all left since the Mercykillers took over." He shrugs weakly, "Hopefully they'll start to come back now things are back to normal, at least."
[15:31] * Gourash frowns. "What about the Succubus, Naf?" He wondered more to the group than to the sunite
[15:32] <Amonet> "...Naf?"
[15:34] <Alveria> "Well... the cities too big to just look around with detect spells," admits Alveria, shrugging. "Let's go look for her."
[15:37] * Gourash nods.
[15:37] <Alveria> "..though, I have no idea where she is, either..." mutters Alveria, rubbing her head. "Eagan, you can't cast some divination, could you?"
[15:39] <Ebiris> Amonet also takes five minutes to pray for her spells and then identify magic loot at this juncture.
[15:39] <Eagan> "Yes, give me a few moments.."
[15:40] * Eagan sits down and focuses with some prayers to Torm, asking him to answer his question..
[15:41] <Eagan> "Torm, where is the portal to Limbo that we seek?"
[15:41] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[15:41] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 55." [1d100=55]
[15:44] -> *Eagan* You hear it, the voice of your lord! (or one of his higher ranking servants, at least) "The door you seek lies hidden in the tomb of parchment."
[15:44] * Eagan stands and breathes out, speaking his thanks to Torm.
[15:45] <Amonet> "I met her last night, so if we still need to talk to her, she might still be in the area," Amonet suggests.
[15:45] <Eagan> "The portal is hidden inside a place called 'the Tomb of Parchment.'"
[15:45] <Gourash> "That a step forward, at least" Gourash commented.
[15:45] <Alveria> "Heartkeeper, is there a place in Xaos named as such, or is the meaning metaphorical?"
[15:46] <Amonet> "If it is metaphorical, there was a large archive underneath city hall," Amonet muses thoughtfully.
[15:46] <Ebiris> "Which I think would constitute a tomb after yesterday," the Suneite cleric nods thoughtfully.
[15:47] <Amonet> "It would've fit even before that," Amonet mutters.
[15:47] <Alveria> "Huh. Let's go see if we can find a way down, then," ponders Alveria.
[15:47] <Amonet> "Wait a moment, please," Amonet requests.
[15:48] <Amonet> "Heartkeeper, what does Xaos normally do with its criminals?" she inquires.
[15:50] <Ebiris> "It depends what they did, and who they did it to," Lucas replies. "For example, if someone were to wrong my temple, and then caught, we would typically make them work off their debt, hopefully teaching them about proper morals along the way," he smiles faintly. "On the other hand, if someone were to break into the temple of Cyric - while it was still a force here, anyway - they'd face a far more unpleasant fate."
[15:51] * Amonet nods thoughtfully. "So there is no centralized legal system, as it were?"
[15:52] <Ebiris> "You saw what happened when we did have one," he replies simply. "I for one am quite glad we no longer enforce such... mechanical barbarity, upon the populace."
[15:52] <Alveria> "No chaff, as it were," remarks Alveria. "Good or evil, law or chaos, whatever is strongest makes the rules. Out in the planes, it's always in flux. Force is, after all, the first and last political resort."
[15:53] <Ebiris> "Indeed," he nods respectfully to Alveria, "Luckily there are those with power who will use to to shield those who do not, and so an equilibrium is maintained against those who use their power more selfishly."
[15:56] <Amonet> "There is one last thing we should do here, then, before we are to leave via our portal," Amonet tells the others.
[15:57] <Alveria> "There is? Well, we've got to figure out how to activate it and all that, no telling how long that'll take..."
[15:57] <Gourash> "And dig to it," Gourash noted.
[15:58] <Amonet> "That gnome you spoke of, Alveria," Amonet continues. "We simply cannot allow him to remain here unpunished."
[15:58] <Alveria> "Eh?"
[15:58] <Amonet> "Left to his own devices, how much more damage could he do?"
[15:58] <Alveria> "Probably none, seeing as he's got what he wanted..."
[15:59] <Amonet> "I don't think getting what one wants warrants killing innocent people along the way," Amonet says sternly.
[16:01] * Gourash eyes.  "We not the guards."
[16:01] <Alveria> "I don't disagree, but I was putting it down to the chaos of, well, revolution..." replies Alveria, fidgeting.
[16:03] <Amonet> "If it is payment you seek for this, Gourash, then I will become our client," Amonet announces. "I'm afraid I can't afford as much as Nasfreiyin, but arresting a single gnome and transporting him to a suitable facility at our next destination is surely an easier task than retaking an entire city from a devil and her minions."
[16:04] <Alveria> "But I was in complicity with him," replies Alveria, faltering. "It doesn't seem right to me to go arrest him after supporting his general idea."
[16:05] <Gourash> "Grabbing people on how they fought not sound right," Gourash shrugged, ignoring the offer of payment since the job didn't interest him.
[16:06] <Eagan> "We could try to just ask him to cooperate with us. Since he has what he wants, there might not be any real reason for him to stay around here. He might be willing to go with us, just to get to 'fertile lands' as it were."
[16:06] * Amonet frowns. "Forgive me for saying so, but recent events suggest you may not be in full control of your faculties due to events beyond your control," Amonet tells Alveria. "And as we travel together, I am certainly in a position to prevent you from following up on any misdeeds."
[16:07] <Alveria> "No, he wanted to free his ci- what did you just say?"
[16:07] <Amonet> "You have a magical sword stuck in your head."
[16:07] <Alveria> "And you have a magical lance that hates me."
[16:08] <Ebiris> "I don't *hate* you..." Marjorie protests. "You're just... sometimes you're a bit difficult, that's all."
[16:08] * Gourash eyes the two and turns to head off, grunting "stupid" as he heads back towards the city hall.
[16:09] <Amonet> "If you feel responsible, is not the proper thing to set things right?" Amonet asks the elf.
[16:10] <Alveria> "Didn't I give you my share of the gold? Donate it to the city or something. Clearly, doing things right is presently beyond me."
[16:10] <Eagan> "Indeed it is. And while this venture will delay us, we should begin with it soon. The longer we take, the longer until we finish. Alveria certainly isn't going to budge on this, so we might as well get to it."
[16:11] <Alveria> "We'll just come back this way, anyway, and then I won't have psycho extraplanar freaks hunting me down, either," mutters Alveria. "I'll make a bet with you that the city is still here when we're done, anyway."
[16:12] <Amonet> "So you believe this matter can wait until we return?"
[16:14] <Alveria> "I don't believe there's a matter at all!" Alveria wipes her head and takes off her hat, massaging her temples. "I guess you have to study what's right and what's not or whatever, but I don't! And right now, the only thing that really matters to me is.. getting this stupid sword out of where it shouldn't be! After I've done that I'll help fix whatever problems you want."
[16:15] <Amonet> "Then I'll take care of the matter myself, as I believe I must," Amonet tells her. "If I must do so alone, then so be it." She turns to glare at Eagan. "Merely because Alveria would not bulge on this issue does not mean I would! It is important to me!"
[16:16] <Eagan> "It's important to her, though, too."
[16:16] <Amonet> "Letting a murdered go free because of circumstances. I'm afraid I cannot see eye to eye with her on this."
[16:18] <Alveria> "You're going to stake some royal claim, aren't you?" asks Alveria, changing the topic rather suddenly.
[16:18] * Amonet blinks. "What?"
[16:18] <Alveria> "You're from.. Mulhourand, right?"
[16:19] <Eagan> "Why not try what I said earlier? See if he's willing to agree to a self imposed exile and go with us. We can keep an eye on him until we find a suitable place to leave him."
[16:19] <Amonet> "From the area, yes," Amonet says guardedly.
[16:19] <Alveria> "Didn't you say you had something you had to fight for there? I forget the details. It was.. I can't remember things, sometimes," mumbles Alveria.
[16:20] <Amonet> "And it is not a matter of getting him away from the city, but of making certain he cannot harm anyone by putting him in prison," Amonet tells Eagan, before nodding uncertainly at Alveria. "In a matter of speaking...."
[16:22] <Alveria> "Yeah. Ugh... besides, he's a mage, and a powerful one, at that," mutters Alveria, changing tack *again*. "What're you going to do if he flies? Or teleports? Or turns invisible?"
[16:23] <Amonet> "I was hoping my allies would help me," Amonet replies simply.
[16:23] <Eagan> "And, as I said, 'suitable place.' As it is, right now, we don't really have the time to deal with this, do we? Whatever we do, we need to decide soon. As a follower of Torm, I fully understand the need for justice.. However, we can't hold *everyone's* hands. They need to stand on their own at some point. I figure we're going to come back through this way again. If we do, and he hasn't been fully delt with, we can at that point."
[16:24] <Amonet> "You heard what the Heartmaster said," Amonet tells Eagan with a frown. "There is no justice system in place here, nor do they wish for one after this disaster."
[16:24] <Alveria> "But it was my fault, anyway," mutters Alveria. "If you look at it that way, I gave him the signal to start."
[16:25] <Amonet> "And if, once we take care of your problem, you still believe that to have been the right call, my answer might change from what I said already," Amonet says, looking at Alveria.
[16:26] <Amonet> "Right now, I can't see you as responsible."
[16:28] <Alveria> "Well, I can't see him as responsible, either, since I had him trusting my signal. If you have to blame anyone, blame the goddamned sword! Hell, it wasn't even that, I was panicking!"
[16:28] <Amonet> "He was planning on killing all those people before you even met him! How is he absolved of the matter?"
[16:29] <Alveria> "He was backed into a corner! I bet all the people in this town would've seen him as a patriot!"
[16:30] <Amonet> "I don't answer to the people of this city, but to a higher authority!"
[16:30] <Alveria> "So you plan to lock him up in heaven? 'cos nowhere else will have him!"
[16:30] * Amonet shakes her head sadly. "Horus-Re would not condone this, he wouldn't! And there must be a city willing to lock him up!"
[16:31] <Alveria> "Yeah, for fifty gold and a mug of ale!"
[16:32] <Amonet> "If I should have to pay to see justice done, it does not bother me overmuch."
[16:41] * Alveria stops short of speaking again, and settles for rolling her eyes. "Well, why're you still here, then? Off you go. Grab him first and ask questions later if you want to live through it."
[16:42] <Amonet> "Thank you for your advice," Amonet tells her, nodding curtly. "Eagan, how about you? Would you accompany me?"
[16:42] * Eagan shrugs and nods.
[16:42] <Eagan> "I don't pick sides in personal arguments. I just make sure everyone comes back alive. I'll go with you, to be sure you'll come back."
[16:43] <Amonet> "Thank you."
[16:44] * Amonet heads towards the shop!
[16:44] * Eagan hands his mug to Alveria.
[16:45] <Eagan> "Have fun, Alveria. We'll be back."
[16:45] * Eagan follows after Amonet.
[16:46] <Ebiris> And so the duo make their way to the circus-tent-like building with a sign out the front displaying an exploding beaker and reading "Alchemic Excess". The door is... open!
[16:46] * Alveria gives the mug a weird look. "I hope it's not just the sword that makes me 'chaotic'," she gripes to Puk'Lor.
[16:47] <Ebiris> "What were you like before the incident?" the monk asks placidly, seeming unaffected by the argument.
[16:47] * Amonet eyes the explosive commercials and boosts her fleetness of feet, not forgetting to ward herself of fire and chaos as well.
[16:48] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Amonet
[16:49] <Amonet> roll 1d20+17
[16:49] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+17 and gets 36." [1d20=19]
[16:49] <Ebiris> OOC: you passed, so 'ping'
[16:50] * Amonet pauses, and glances at Eagan. "A spell has been cast, it seems."
[16:50] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5 spellcraft
[16:50] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 spellcraft and gets 24." [1d20=19]
[16:52] <Amonet> "I cannot determine it, unfortunately, though we should have a decent guess."
[16:54] * Eagan grunts and calls upon the power of Torm.
[16:54] * Eagan settles the Dispel Magic spell on himself, to see if he was effected.
[16:54] * Amonet nods, steeling herself, and heads inside, looking for the proprietor.
[16:56] <Ebiris> Eagan is... dispelled! But doesn't vanish or anything.
[16:56] * Eagan follows after Amonet.
[16:58] <Ebiris> Into the shop the pair go, finding themselves in a circular room, the shelves brimming with potions. A chubby little gnome wearing a pointed hat like the ones Alveria favours is parked behind the counter, and smiles widely at the pair. "Ah, customers! How delightful!" he exclaims. "How might Oswald Firestarter, purveyor of all things alchemical, serve you on this fine day?"
[16:59] <Amonet> "The way I understand it, you were the one behind the collapse of city hall with many of its inhabitants," Amonet states categorically. "Would that be a fair description?"
[17:00] <Ebiris> "I had some help," he smiles brightly. "From the Queen of Evermeet, no less! I hear things didn't work out exactly according to plan, but since the stench of the Mercykillers no longer pervades this fine city, I'd say alls well that ends well."
[17:02] * Amonet twitches. "There were children in the building. Did you think it right to place them in such danger, especially given that the collapse did no damage to the devil herself and only incurred minimal losses to the Mercykillers?"
[17:03] <Ebiris> "Well that's what Queenie's dimensional anchor was for - I thought she knew what she was doing," Oswald huffs indignantly. "Besides, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs - those children should've known better than to align themselves with the soulless minions of orthodoxy!"
[17:04] <Amonet> "I believe that people who see innocent lives akin to eggs, readily broken at need, should be placed before a judge to decide their fate," Amonet says.
[17:05] <Ebiris> "Oh... and are you looking to judge me, girly?" the gnome asks, his demeanour becoming far less jovial.
[17:05] * Amonet shakes her head. "I would escort you to one such judge instead."
[17:07] <Ebiris> "In case you didn't notice, we had all the self proclaimed judges ran out of town... or killed if they weren't quick enough," Oswald counters. "Maybe you ought to follow their lead, girly? Xaos doesn't need you and your high falutin' laws."
[17:08] * Eagan steps forward.
[17:08] <Amonet> "Xaos will have to compromise, then," she tells him. "Come with me to another city and face a trial there. Should they find you not guilty, that would be the end of it."
[17:09] <Eagan> "Now, now. Lets not get violent.."
[17:10] <Ebiris> "I'm going nowhere - I've got a business to run. Now I'll kindly ask you both to leave my establishment - I've got nothing to sell your kind," Oswald replies, making a shooing gesture towards the door.
[17:12] <Amonet> "Taking that as a request is a mistake," Amonet tells him angrily. "You are graciously offered the option of coming peacefully at no harm to your merchandise or yourself. Take it."
[17:13] <Ebiris> "Ahh, now we see the violence inherent in the system!" Oswald proclaims triumphantly. "You dress it up in fancy words, but when you get right down to it, you're no better, are you?"
[17:13] <Amonet> roll 1d20+6
[17:13] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+6 and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[17:13] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+mystery
[17:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+mystery and gets Error: Numeric values only." [1d20=18]
[17:13] <Amonet> "I'm better than those who kill without distinction, blinded by all but their cause!"
[17:15] <Ebiris> The little gnome doesn't seem at all cowed. "If that's what helps you sleep at night, girly," he sneers.
[17:16] <Amonet> "It does," she affirms. "Are you coming peacefully?"
[17:16] <Eagan> "Look..
[17:17] <Eagan> "I really don't want this to come to a fight, but I will, if that's the way you both are going to take it."
[17:17] * Eagan pulls out his Morningstar..
[17:17] <Eagan> roll d20+1 for intimidate aid
[17:17] * Hatbot --> "Eagan rolls d20+1 for intimidate aid and gets 17." [d20=16]
[17:21] <Ebiris> "I've got a better idea," Oswald replies as the panel on the front of his counter slides away, bearing a rune on the front which flares with magical light!
[17:21] <Ebiris> OOC: fort saves

[17:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+13 and gets 21." [1d20=8]

[17:35] <Eagan> OOC: Listen check.
[17:36] <Ebiris> The lion listens... and mostly hears itself roaring in pain.
[17:38] <Eagan> "Don't let him out!"
[17:38] * Eagan sends the Lion to guard the exit.
[17:39] <Ebiris> The lion limps over to the door, looking and sounding most unhappy.
[17:39] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:39] <Amonet> "Horus-Re!" Amonet prays urgently, calling out to her god loudly while clutching a hand around her holy symbol. "Please guide us through these dark moments! Please help us stop the would-be murderer of children, prevent the tragedy from ever occuring! Don't allow him to walk free, I beseech thee!"
[17:39] <Amonet> OOC: Nobility for +2 on all the fun stuff
[17:45] <Ebiris> From the back of the room, a spell is heard being cast, before a lightning bolt lances forth, careening through Amonet, Eagan, and the lion before crashing into the wall next to the door!

[17:48] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1.5*31 and gets 46.5."
[17:51] <Ebiris> Like the thunder of an angry god, the lightning bolt tears through Amonet, her celestial heritage and divine blessings all that keep her up, while Eagan is struck down, his flesh charred and burnt horrifically by the assault! The lion only manages an indignant roar before it is sent back to the celestial realms!
[17:52] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:53] <Alveria> roll 1d20+11 init

[17:54] <Alveria> Kicking open the door and spotting the wizard, Alveria doesn't waste time- "Grab him, Amonet, he's unarmed!" She fires a blast of fire at him, followed up by a sprinkling of golden light!

[17:55] <Alveria> OOC: Can I shout, at least?
[17:56] <Ebiris> OOC: Sure, it's a free action.
[17:56] * Amonet calls upon her training, channeling divine power through herself and coming to kneel next to Eagan, the holy energies going through her and into the fallen cleric. "I can't see him!" she calls back. "It's very hard to grab someone invisible!"
[17:56] <Alveria> OOC: nm.
[17:57] <Ebiris> Eagan feels himself restored by the mercy of Horus Re. Take that, Torm!
[18:01] <Ebiris> "That melodious voice... even the Queen of Evermeet turns on me?" Oswald laments. "Bah, you can all die, then!" he cries, firing off a pair of fiery rays, one for Amonet and one for Eagan, before moving again, closer to the door.

[18:03] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4d6 Eagan and gets 16." [4d6=6, 1, 4, 5]
[18:03] <Ebiris> Amonet's shield glows red hot as it absorbs the blast, but Eagan has no such protection as he's assailed most viciously, fireburns to match his electrical ones!
[18:03] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[18:04] <Amonet> "Can you see him? Can you break through his base illusion?" Amonet calls out to Eagan.
[18:04] <Alveria> "Heal yourselves, you nits! I'll deal with him."
[18:05] * Eagan casts a healing spell on himself, using his Domain; CSW!

[18:06] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[18:07] <Alveria> Alveria peers through the door, and a flurry of magic streams towards the unwitting gnome! Golden sparkles light him up, and fire.. also lights him up!
[18:07] <Alveria> OOC: Aham. Reflex 21, Will 17.
[18:07] <Alveria> roll 1d6+6 pyro
[18:07] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+6 pyro and gets 7." [1d6=1]

[18:09] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 oops and gets 25." [1d20=20]
[18:09] <Ebiris> "Ack!" Oswald cries as he's burnt and lit up by sparkling glittery motes! "The fire, it burns!"
[18:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 Puk'lor init
[18:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Puk'lor init and gets 11." [1d20=4]
[18:10] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[18:11] <Amonet> The villain is now outlined, and her options have become even simpler! Biting her teeth against the pain from electrocution and dark magicks, she charges him, a spell of strength settling around her form!
[18:11] <Amonet> roll 1d20+12
[18:11] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+12 and gets 20." [1d20=8]

[18:12] <Amonet> OOC: +4 from nobility for 25
[18:16] <Ebiris> Amonet's lance rips right through poor Oswald, who cries out in pain as his invisible blood is shed most copiously! "You lowlives better not steal anything, because I'll be back!" he promises as he casts a spell.
[18:16] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+13
[18:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+13 and gets 25." [1d20=12]
[18:16] <Ebiris> And suddenly vanishes!
[18:19] <Amonet> roll 1d8+2
[18:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+2 and gets 5." [1d8=3]

Ebiris

[16:26] <Ebiris> Gourash and Keylin soon reach the rubble of the city hall, already being sifted through by a few other people, none of whom protest their joining in. "Hey, you're the guy that killed that horrible angel, aren't you?" one greets the half-orc jovially as he struggles to shift aside a fallen timber beam. "Good on you, mate!"
[16:28] * Gourash grins back.  "She run fast, but not fast enough," He returned to the man as he approached, casually helping the man with the timber beam.
[16:29] <Ebiris> "Ooohf, thanks!" he grins as Gourash's help shifts the beam aside easily. "You looking for loot down here as well? I heard some guy found a magic axe earlier in the morning - no telling what goodies are in this mess."
[16:29] * Keylin raises an eyebrow at the mention of loot. "Anything I can help with? I'm afraid I don't have the muscles my friend does, but I'd be happy to help with what i can."
[16:31] <Ebiris> "It's pretty much every man for himself," he admits, wiping some sweat from his brow. "Just see what you can shove aside or... well, you're pretty skinny, so you might be able to get through some of the gaps?" he suggests to Keylin.
[16:31] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Gourash
[16:31] <Gourash> roll 1d20+3
[16:31] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+3 and gets 22." [1d20=19]
[16:32] <Ebiris> OOC: you passed, which means you feel some sort of 'ping'
[16:33] * Gourash looks around suddenly, "Something cast spell..."
[16:35] * Keylin frowns and looks around as well, searching for anything suspicious or just magicky in nature or something.
[16:35] <Ebiris> OOC: spot check
[16:35] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 and gets 14." [1d20=1]
[16:35] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 4." [1d20=3]
[16:35] <Gourash> OOC: WE're BLIIIND
[16:35] <Keylin> ooc: me specially! damn 1!
[16:35] <Ebiris> Nope, nothing happening here.
[16:36] <Ebiris> "Spell? Wazzat?" the man Gourash just helped asks, looking around.
[16:36] <Keylin> "I don't see anything suspicious," Keylin comments, though still on guard.
[16:38] <Gourash> "I felt something," Gourash was certain, having been hit with a fair number of them.
[16:39] <Gourash> "Maybe one of them is around?" He referenced the gith.
[16:39] * Keylin nods. "I believe you, I just don't see anything, unfortunately."
[16:39] <Ebiris> "One of what is around?" the man asks, backing away a bit worriedly.
[16:41] * Gourash shrugged. "A mage," He misled.  "Or maybe something down here...  We need to find, the room they put all the papers in." Gourash asked.
[16:42] <Ebiris> "No one's dug that far, yet," the man shakes his head. "Say, this doesn't mean things are gonna get all splattery like they did yesterday, right?" he asks nervously.
[16:42] <Keylin> "I just hope it's not one of Alvie's 'favorite' playmates," Keylin comments with a sigh, thinking of the Gith.
[16:43] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Keylin
[16:43] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[16:43] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 26." [1d20=20]
[16:43] <Keylin> ooc: woot
[16:44] <Ebiris> OOC: you passed, so again with the pinging
[16:44] <Keylin> "...okay, -I- felt something this time," Keylin frowns, and looks around again,
[16:44] <Ebiris> OOC: spot checks
[16:45] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13
[16:45] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[16:46] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[16:46] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 19." [1d20=18]
[16:46] <Ebiris> Again, nothing suspicious jumps out at the pair.
[16:47] * Gourash growls in irritation.  "Whoever you are, come out..."
[16:50] <Ebiris> No one responds to Gourash's invitation, sadly...
[16:50] * Keylin scowls and shakes her head. "Doesn't look like our friend wants to be found just yet." She switches tactics and speaks in orcish, "Keep an eye on our new friend, he might be the next getting hit by the spell we were targetted with."
[16:52] * Gourash nods, "Sensible...unless it is Alvie's friends," he responded in orcish.
[16:52] <Ebiris> "What's with all the mumbo jumbo?" your new friend asks in common, blinking in confusion.
[16:53] <Gourash> "Someone casting spells around here...At us," Gourash explained.
[16:53] <Ebiris> "Uh... maybe it's best if we split up in that case, yeah," he nods after a moment, backing away from the pair and looking around fearfully.
[16:53] <Keylin> "Unfortunately, we can't tell where from, or what spell, either," Keylin replies as well, a scowl on her face.
[16:55] <Gourash> "Too bad the mages are all fighting," He growled.
[16:58] * Gourash looks around. "We either keep digging or we go find them and see... I no feel like having one of them in my mind again."
[17:00] <Keylin> "Agreed. Think we should warn the others first, or just try to take care of the problem now ourselves?"
[17:01] * Gourash shrugs. "I don't see where it is coming from...  Let's go find them."  He growled, more irritated at it all as he stalked off to find them.
[17:04] * Keylin nods as she follows alongside him, keeping an eye out particularly for any people trying to look inconspicuous or dressed in robes.
[17:04] <Ebiris> OOC: spot check, Keylin
[17:07] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13
[17:07] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 and gets 14." [1d20=1]
[17:09] <Ebiris> Keylin does spot a somewhat shifty character at the edge of one of the alleyways running just off the town square, rolling something around in his hands as he sneers at anyone walking by. There's also a pair dressed in black robes walking down the street away from you... or staggering, more likely, as they lean drunkenly on one another.
[17:11] * Keylin frowns. A pair of drunks and a drug addict? That's the worse she can spot? She must be going rusty or something.
[17:12] * Gourash keeps his eyes open for the mages.
[17:12] <Ebiris> Making their way back to the ruined temple of Sune, Keylin and Gourash find that their companions have all gone - according to Heartkeeper Lucas, something about punishing a gnome.
[17:12] * Gourash shrugs. "You know where the gnome lives?" He asked Keylin.
[17:13] <Keylin> "No clue, I never even met him."
[17:14] * Gourash asks Heartkeeper Lucas, "Know where Gnome alchemist lives?"
[17:14] <Ebiris> "Oh, he has a shop near the town square," the cleric nods, giving you directions.
[17:15] * Gourash nods. "Thanks," He heads off towards there.
[17:15] <Ebiris> OOC: I'll pause you guys for a bit, here, since you're ahead of events in #dunes
[17:17] <Gourash> OOC: *Nods*
[17:36] <Ebiris> -----------
[17:37] <Ebiris> Loitering outside the shop after Amonet and Eagan went inside, Alveria and Puk'lor can hear sounds of violence, as well as a rather pained sounding big cat coming from within!
[17:38] <Alveria> "I bet she didn't grab him first," mutters Alveria, sounding pained. "There's a back room. I'm going to teleport in there. Can you stick in front of the door?"
[17:39] <Ebiris> "By all means," Puk'lor nods sollemnly.
[17:39] * Alveria mutters to herself and vanishes from sight. And shortly after that, she apports herself to the gnome's back-room...
[17:41] <Ebiris> Alveria finds herself in a room. It is very dark.
[17:41] <Alveria> OOC: No light at *all*?
[17:42] <Ebiris> There is a tiny sliver of light coming from what could be the bottom of a door. She can hear a lion from that direction as well.
[17:42] <Alveria> OOC: Dibs on low-light vision, is there anything in the room?
[17:43] <Ebiris> Alveria can see better than most could in such a situation! There is what looks to be an alchemist's lab in the centre of the room, and a set of stairs leading down into the ground.
[17:45] <Alveria> Alveria creeps towards the door, standing to one side of it for now and casting See Invisibility.
[17:47] <Alveria> *and peering through the gap.
[17:47] <Ebiris> OOC: you'd have to get prone to do that - it's a tiny little gap under the door.
[17:47] <Alveria> OOC: Ah, I thoguht it might be in the side. Never mind- I'll just open it next turn.
[17:48] <Alveria> OOC: Actually, can I open it a crack this turn and peer through?
[17:52] <Ebiris> Opening the door slightly, Alveria sees Oswald Firestarter loosing off a terrific lightning bolt through Amonet, Eagan, and a lion, dropping the latter two in an instant before he darts off to the side of his shop!
[17:53] <Alveria> OOC: Let me know when I can act
[17:53] <Ebiris> OOC: roll init to join in #dunes
[17:53] <Ebiris> OOC: you'll join next round
[17:54] <Ebiris> --------
[18:04] <Ebiris> Making their way towards the alchemist's shop, Keylin and Gourash can see Puk'lor loitering outside the circus-tent-like building.
[18:07] * Gourash waves as he approaches. "There you guys are.  What going on in there?"
[18:15] <Ebiris> "Amonet and Eagan are fighting the gnome. Alveria teleported in to..." Puk'lor cuts himself off as Alveria is heard yelling for him to get the gnome. "Excuse me," he then turns his attention to the door.
[18:17] * Gourash looks bemusedly upon the scene, not quite sure what  to expect but not really believing that the four of them couldn't handle one gnome.
[18:18] <Ebiris> Inside, Gourash can see Eagan and Amonet both looking rather charred and brutalised, and no sign of the gnome.
[18:19] * Gourash stares with a raised eyebrow.  "We at the right place?" He asks Keylin, stepping inside.
[18:25] <Keylin> "Well, we have Eagan and Amonet looking like crap. I'd say we are," Keylin says, looking inside with surprise at the sight.

Ebiris

[15:09] <Ebiris> Within the alchemist's shop, Eagan and Amonet continue to be wracked with agonising phantom pains on top of their all too real wounds, thanks to the symbol that Oswald uncovered just prior to hostilities. Alveria seems blissfully unaffected, while Keylin, Gourash, and Puk'lor linger outside, not having participated in the tense confrontation!
[15:11] <Alveria> roll 1d20+19 spellcraft
[15:11] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+19 spellcraft and gets 34." [1d20=15]
[15:12] * Alveria tells everyone there is an evil spell around and to vacate the area, only in not so many words, before following her own advice and heading outside.
[15:13] * Amonet follows, her gait pained.
[15:13] <Ebiris> Puk'lor is happy to wait outside. "I presume things did not go as planned?" he asks as the trio emerge.
[15:13] <Ebiris> roll 3d8+5
[15:13] <Gourash> Eagan groaned in pain and fled the horrid shop of painage.
[15:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d8+5 and gets 14." [3d8=2, 6, 1]
[15:14] * Gourash steps back, having no desire to get caught in spells. "More important worries...  Gith casting spells at us, I think."
[15:15] <Amonet> roll 4d8+4
[15:15] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 4d8+4 and gets 18." [4d8=2, 3, 6, 3]
[15:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d4+3
[15:15] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d4+3 and gets 7." [1d4=4]
[15:16] * Amonet glows with divine vigor once more, groaning. "Giving evil a chance to surrender, perhaps the wrong move after all...."
[15:17] * Gourash eyes the shop and then amonet and Gourash. "Perhaps it was more  a strategic error to attack someone in their own home."
[15:17] <Gourash> *Eagan not second Gourash
[15:17] <Ebiris> "The right thing isn't always the easy thing," Marjorie notes mournfully. "But what's this about Gith?"
[15:18] <Amonet> "It sounds logical, I felt a spell being cast upon me as well, and noticed no one around," Amonet responds.
[15:19] * Gourash nods. "Gith been casting them all day."
[15:20] <Amonet> "As much as I hate to leave this open, getting this city involved with a gith attack while it is wrecked so appeals far less," Amonet admits. "We should find the portal and leave. We can always return later."
[15:20] <Ebiris> OOC: spot checks, everyone
[15:21] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[15:21] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 10." [1d20=5]
[15:21] <Ebiris> OOC: remember the -4 penalties for Eagan and Amonet
[15:21] <Alveria> roll 1d20+3

[15:22] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 SPOT OF LEGEND and gets 4." [1d20=3]
[15:22] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7 Spot of Eagan
[15:22] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 Spot of Eagan and gets 27." [1d20=20]
[15:23] -> *Keylin* As you all converse, you can see eight identical gnomes flying up overhead from behind the shop. They look rather pissed.
[15:23] -> *Amonet* As you all converse, Alveria can see eight identical gnomes flying up overhead from behind the shop. They look rather pissed.
[15:23] -> *Gourash* As you all converse, Eagan can see eight identical gnomes flying up overhead from behind the shop. They look rather pissed.
[15:25] * Alveria mentions that pissed off gnomes are flying in the skies.
[15:25] <Keylin> "We have company of the small and rabid kind. Icomming gnome attack!" Keylin informs the others in a most serious voice.
[15:25] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[15:25] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 Puk'lor
[15:25] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Puk'lor and gets 11." [1d20=4]

[15:26] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 15." [1d20=11]
[15:30] <Alveria> Where there are eight gnomes, there will soon be three! Hopefully!
[15:30] <Alveria> roll 1d6+5 magic missile
[15:30] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+5 magic missile and gets 11." [1d6=6]
[15:31] * Amonet sends a missile each at gnomes one through five!
[15:31] <Amonet> OOC: Err, Alveria  >_>
[15:31] <Ebiris> OOC: roll 1d8 and so on till you run out of missiles. 1 is gnome.
[15:34] <Ebiris> OOC: roll 1d100, actually
[15:38] <Ebiris> OOC: screw it, we'll go with the d8s
[15:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[15:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 6." [1d8=6]
[15:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[15:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 6." [1d8=6]
[15:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[15:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 4." [1d8=4]
[15:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[15:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 3." [1d8=3]
[15:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d8
[15:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d8 and gets 2." [1d8=2]
[15:38] <Gourash> OOC: ALMOST @_@
[15:40] <Ebiris> A flurry of missiles shoot forth from Alveria's fingertips, causing five of the gnomes to vanish as they are struck! The trio remaining look unimpressed. "Magic missile?" he sneers, "I expected better from the Queen of Evermeet. Let me show you a real spell!" So declaring, he gestures down at Alveria, arcane words spilling forth from his lips!
[15:40] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 Alvie's will save
[15:40] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 Alvie's will save and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[15:41] <Ebiris> The elf momentarily goes pale, but swiftly shrugs off whatever dark powers the gnome conjured forth!
[15:41] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash and Keylin
[15:43] * Keylin pulls out her bow as she moves around, keeping an arrow trained on the middle gnome of the group remaining, before firing after finding what looks to be the best spot to target in that gnome.
[15:44] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[15:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+10 and gets 27." [1d20=17]
[15:44] <Ebiris> OOC: roll 1d3
[15:44] <Keylin> roll 1d3
[15:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d3 and gets 3." [1d3=3]
[15:44] <Ebiris> Keylin's arrow goes right through the middle gnome, who winks out of existence, leaving just a pair of them left!
[15:46] * Gourash shakes a fist at the gnome and grabs the broom to head up there.
[15:48] * Gourash flat out rams into as many gnomes as he can reach!
[15:48] <Ebiris> The broom isn't the most fast or maneuverable thing in the world - Gourash reaches a bit past the roof of the nearby shop as he flies upwards, the gnome still much higher and out of reach.
[15:49] <Ebiris> Puk'lor moves a hand towards his karach blade, but then glances to Alveria and halts the motion, not doing anything at the moment.
[15:49] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[15:52] <Gourash> Eagan raises a hand, praising Torm as searing light strikes forth from it towards a gnome.
[15:52] <Gourash> roll 1d20+4 ranged touch attack
[15:52] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+4 ranged touch attack and gets 16." [1d20=12]
[15:52] <Gourash> roll 1d2 ?  mirror image
[15:52] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d2 ? mirror image and gets 1." [1d2=1]
[15:53] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[15:54] <Gourash> roll 4d8 ow, the sun!
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 4d8 ow, the sun! and gets 25." [4d8=7, 8, 6, 4]
[15:54] <Ebiris> "Owww!" Oswald yelps as he's struck by the light, the image by his side mirroring the movement even though it remains untouched. "Curse you, vile fiends!" he shakes a fist down at the party.
[15:54] <Ebiris> OOC: Amonet... once she gets here.
[15:56] <Ebiris> OOC: Amonet holds until after Alvie
[15:57] <Mokou> *Alveria goes for a rod, twirling it for a moment and then pointing at the wretched gnome's injured half! "They're overrated," she remarks, spewing forth blasts of flame!
[15:57] <Mokou> OOC: I is using SEARING SPELL, it negates the fire resistence
[15:57] <Mokou> OOC: Also I is using scorching ray. A moment.
[15:59] <Mokou> roll 1d6+6
[15:59] * Hatbot --> "Mokou rolls 1d6+6 and gets 11." [1d6=5]
[15:59] <Mokou> OOC: Glorious day!
[15:59] <Mokou> roll 1d20+6
[15:59] <Mokou> roll 1d20+6
[15:59] <Mokou> roll 1d20+6
[15:59] * Hatbot --> "Mokou rolls 1d20+6 and gets 19." [1d20=13]
[15:59] * Hatbot --> "Mokou rolls 1d20+6 and gets 25." [1d20=19]
[15:59] * Hatbot --> "Mokou rolls 1d20+6 and gets 10." [1d20=4]
[15:59] <Ebiris> OOC: 2 hit
[15:59] <Mokou> roll (8d6)*1.5
[15:59] * Hatbot --> "Mokou rolls (8d6)*1.5 and gets 48." [8d6=5, 5, 4, 6, 3, 3, 4, 2]
[16:02] <Ebiris> Shooting forth a trio of searing hot jets of flame, Alveria sees two of them strike their target, blasting right through the gnome's chest and continuing their blazing trajectory into the sky! Oswald hangs motionless in the air for but a moment, before his lifeless body plummets like a stone, striking the ground with a sickly wet splat and spreading his remains over the street.
[16:04] <Keylin> "That's the most disgusting death I have ever seen."
[16:04] * Gourash flies back down and lands, grunting. "That gave you guys how much trouble?" He eyed Amonet and Eagan, shaking his head. "Now we worry about bigger problem."
[16:05] <Ebiris> Smells a bit like someone had a barbecue. A few people are peering curiously out their windows now that the battle seems to be over, but those on the street are giving the area a wide berth, some seen turning around and fleeing the scene.
[16:09] <Ebiris> "I've seen worse," Marjorie mutters in response to Keylin's comment.
[16:10] <Gourash> Eagan takes his moment of petty vengeance to kick the gnome and make sure he is quite dead.  Kill him would he.
[16:10] <Ebiris> Oh, he's quite dead. And seperated into various constituent parts!
[16:13] <Gourash> Gourash turned to Alveria. "So...what about the gith?"
[16:14] <Gourash> Eagan loots for  the party in the background >_>; whistle.
[16:16] <Ebiris> As Eagan picks up a shiny blue cloth-sack that was tied to the gnome's belt, a glyph on it suddenly flares to life before a horrifically deformed bison appears beside him, mooing in fury!
[16:16] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[16:16] <Ebiris> roll 1d20 anarchic bison
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20 anarchic bison and gets 10." [1d20=10]
[16:16] <Gourash> OOC: ;_;  heh
[16:16] <Gourash> roll 1d20+4 Eagan
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+4 Eagan and gets 9." [1d20=5]
[16:16] <Gourash> OOC: Whole party or just eagan?
[16:16] <Ebiris> OOC: Depends whether the party wants to help him. You could assume he can handle it himself, I guess.
[16:16] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 gourash
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 gourash and gets 8." [1d20=7]
[16:18] * Amonet will of course support their cleric, even if he was looting deformed corpses before they had a chance to cool off!
[16:19] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 3." [1d20=3]
[16:19] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5 Alvie
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 Alvie and gets 20." [1d20=15]
[16:19] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 Monk
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Monk and gets 16." [1d20=9]
[16:20] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[16:24] <Amonet> Alveria sets the bison on fire!
[16:25] <Amonet> roll 1d6+5
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d6+5 and gets 8." [1d6=3]
[16:27] <Amonet> roll 1d20+4 ray1
[16:27] <Amonet> roll 1d20+4 ray2
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+4 ray1 and gets 23." [1d20=19]
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+4 ray2 and gets 24." [1d20=20]
[16:27] <Amonet> roll 1d20+4 ray2 crit?
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+4 ray2 crit? and gets 8." [1d20=4]
[16:27] <Ebiris> OOC: 2 hits
[16:28] <Ebiris> OOC: Well, SR check first
[16:28] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[16:28] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 27." [1d20=19]
[16:28] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[16:28] <Amonet> roll 8d6 burn~
[16:28] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 8d6 burn~ and gets 21." [8d6=4, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 1, 1]
[16:29] <Ebiris> The bison moos in pain, both the beady eyes stuck on one side of its head looking to Amonet in rage while it flutters a pair of deformed vestigial wings on its back in impotent fury! This allows Puk'lor to blindside it as he leaps over with a flying kick to the side of its head which has no eyes!
[16:29] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+15
[16:29] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+15 and gets 28." [1d20=13]
[16:30] <Ebiris> roll 1d10+2
[16:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10+2 and gets 10." [1d10=8]
[16:31] <Ebiris> Said kick is good enough to snap its neck, causing the creature to slimp and vanish back to where it came from! Which is probably where the party is headed shortly, all things considered...
[16:31] <Ebiris> slump*
[16:33] <Gourash> Eagan shook his head, "Thanks..." He offered to Puk'lor.
[16:33] <Ebiris> The monk nods sollemnly in reply. "Think nothing of it. What did you do to provoke the beast?"
[16:35] <Gourash> "Magical guard for the gnome's things," He acknowledged.
[16:36] <Ebiris> "Speaking of..." Puk'lor looks down at the shiny blue bag Eagan holds and then back at the shop, "What are you going to do with his belongings?"
[16:37] <Amonet> "His next of kin is welcome to them," Amonet says with a shrug.
[16:37] <Gourash> "Not sure...  figured we'd take and dispose of them," Eagan remarked, but shrugs, not arguing with Amonet  on it. "You want to leave the bombs here after that?"
[16:38] <Amonet> "The bombs, we'll safely dispose of, if we can."
[16:40] <Mokou> *"I've got a better idea. Let's *go away* and start working on that portal that's *away from here*," grumps Alveria. "Might I remind you all that time is of the essence?"
[16:41] * Gourash nods in agreement with her. "Too many spells getting cast at us.  Let's go after them already," his voice irritated slightly.
[16:42] * Amonet nods.
[16:44] <Amonet> As Alveria leaves for city hall's ruins, Amonet follows her, guarding the witch.
[16:45] <Ebiris> And so the group head off, finding the ruins much as Keylin and Gourash left them, with a dozen or so people still sifting through the debris in search of profit or (maybe) survivors.
[16:46] * Amonet is fairly certain there are no survivors to be found, having already searched the area previously. Instead, she describes to the others where the archives were positioned relatively to them.
[16:46] * Gourash heads over lending his great strength to clearing that area.
[16:49] <Ebiris> With Gourash clearing the way, it doesn't take too long to expose the stairs leading down into the hall of records. Past the first ten feet or so, it's actually somewhat clear, letting the party descend with little trouble.
[16:49] <Ebiris> Reaching the basement proper, they can see the immense hall stretching before them, a labyrinth of filing cabinets occupying the whole area. Some have tipped over since Amonet was last here, with collapsed sections of the ceiling blocking off other areas, while ruptured pipes and girders occassionally pierce both the ceiling and floor.
[16:50] <Amonet> Marjorie illuminating the premises, Amonet calls out, "Digby, are you alright?"
[16:50] * Gourash looks around the devastated room, almost as if expecting some obvious portal.
[16:51] <Keylin> "Who's Digby?" Keylin asks, not recognizing the name. "Someone you met last time you were here?"
[16:51] <Amonet> Alveria mutters to herself, grumpier than ever, and for a change mirrors Gourash's behavior.
[16:51] <Ebiris> "You go away!" a shrill voice squeals from somewhere in the maze, its location hard to guage from how it echoes in this room. "Digy have *big* mess to clean up! Come back tomorrow!"
[16:52] <Amonet> "A blue goblin. He was very grumpy, but he knew the area very well," Amonet responds, before calling out to him, "Any way we could help?"
[16:52] <Ebiris> A few of the fallen filing cabinets and rubble do create bound areas where a portal could conceivably exist, but none are advertising their presence. "Go away! Somebody gonna get in big trouble for this, but Digby have enough to worry about!" the unseen goblin calls back.
[16:53] <Amonet> "Somebody already got in trouble," Amonet mutters, before shaking her head. "You can make us leave faster if you tell us about the portal that is here!"
[16:54] <Ebiris> "What portal? No portal here, just files... You no touch files! Digby know if you do, then Digby get mad!" the irritable goblin screeches.
[16:54] <Amonet> "Are there files on portals?"
[16:56] <Ebiris> "Of course, but you no touch them! Stupid big peoples just make mess - nobody understand files like Digby," he laments. "How you even get in here again? Digby lock door after you give key and go away, last time!"
[16:57] <Amonet> "We came through the ceiling," she says apologetically. "It sort of collapsed. With the building."
[16:58] <Ebiris> "Hmph. Think if no building then people would stop coming and bothering Digby," the goblin huffs, coming into view as he scurries along the top of the filing cabinets, approaching the party. "But still stupids peoples come. If you no got something to file then you should just get out!"
[16:59] <Ebiris> "Didn't that priest say you could find the portal just by looking for conjuration magic?" Marjorie whispers quietly. "Let's just leave him alone and look ourselves."
[17:00] <Gourash> Eagan interruped, "I have something to file."  He quickly jotted up out of view of the goblin. "Could you file this?" Hands him a paper listed "Positions of portals near Xaos" detailing several made up portal spots.
[17:02] <Ebiris> Digby reaches over a scrawny limb to snatch up the paper, briefly looking over it before rolling it up and stuffing it down his pants. "Sure, Digby file it with all the rest. Now you go?"
[17:02] * Amonet shakes her head. "We still want to use the portal. That means we'll go far, far away, farther than the next city. Would that not be worth a moment of your time?" she asks. "After all, we can just search for it outselves, however long it takes. Even if it's days, or weeks."
[17:04] <Ebiris> "What Digby look like, a tour guide?!" he screeches indignantly. "Digby not know about portals! All Digby knows about is files, and that all Digby wants to know! Now Digby gots to clean big mess but no, you peoples gots to distract him - What, you think your stupid portal is more important than anything Digby's doing, is that it?" The little blue goblin hops up and down indignantly, making the filing cabinet wobble below him.
[17:05] <Amonet> Alveria wonders off, muttering to herself and detecting magic of all shapes and sizes.
[17:06] <Ebiris> Alveria happens to sense magic about forty feet away, somewhere behind a wall of filing cabinets so she can't see exactly what's causing it.
[17:07] <Amonet> Alveria waves Amonet over, and after giving the goblin a disappointed glance, the paladin follows.
[17:08] <Ebiris> Digby scurries off into the darkness away from the party with a parting call of "No touch files - Digby find out if you do!"
[17:08] <Amonet> Alveria looks closer at what the magic originates from, Amonet helping her clear anything too heavy out of the way.
[17:09] * Gourash follows to the filing cabinents.  " Behind here?"
[17:09] <Ebiris> It takes a few twists and turns before Alveria finds the source, where a pair of filing cabinets have toppled towards each other, forming an inverted V in the middle of the aisle. It's rather strong, too.
[17:09] <Amonet> Alveria points at the empty area only she can pinpoint.
[17:10] <Ebiris> It's about twenty feet away from Alveria at the moment, with the rest of the party behind her.
[17:10] <Amonet> roll 1d20+19 spellcraft
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+19 spellcraft and gets 30." [1d20=11]
[17:10] <Ebiris> Conjuration.
[17:10] <Amonet> Alveria tells everyone it's the right kind of magic. Grumpily.
[17:10] <Ebiris> "Hurray!" Marjorie cheers. Happily.
[17:11] <Amonet> "Any ideas on the key?"
[17:12] * Gourash grunts. "Did we forget to ask?"
[17:13] * Gourash glances at Puk'lor, seeing if he knows.
[17:13] <Ebiris> Puk'lor shrugs. "As the locals have told us, the key is constantly changing as much as the portal's location. It could be a physical object, a phrase, or even a state of mind."
[17:14] <Amonet> Alveria looks around for anything else of magic while she still has her spell on.
[17:14] <Ebiris> Alveria can't sense anything else within her range.
[17:14] <Ebiris> Well, besides the party.
[17:15] <Amonet> "I could ask Nasfreiyin," Amonet suggests hesitantly. "We were told at the temple to Sune that she might know, right?"
[17:16] * Gourash nods. "She might be sensitive to it."
[17:17] <Ebiris> "It is possible. As an Outsider partially composed of raw chaos, she could have an innate connection that would let her discern the portal's nature better than most," Puk'lor agrees. "Alveria may have a similar talent, given what she carries in her mind."
[17:17] <Amonet> Alveria blinks, and asks Puk'Lor to show her his blade again.
[17:18] <Ebiris> Puk'lor dutifully holds up his sword. It's a dark grey colour, and its edge looks rather dull at the moment.
[17:19] <Amonet> "Nothing? Well, then let's go look for her."
[17:21] * Gourash nods. "Another  day, another hunting."
[17:21] <Ebiris> It takes a bit over an hour's searching to find the succubus, but she's agreeable to helping the party, and in short order they return to the archives! "This it, here?" she asks, gesturing to the fallen cabinets from a safe (probably) distance of about thirty feet.
[17:22] * Amonet nods. "So it seems. A blank space feeling of conjuration, in a general location we believe the portal should be at."
[17:24] <Ebiris> Nodding silently, Nasfreiyin approaches the assumed portal, her wings folded up neatly behind her to avoid catching on any of the filing cabinets she passes. Stopping just in front of the collapsed cabinets, she puts a hand to her head - you can actually see she has tiny horns thanks to this gesture, as they normally lay hidden underneath her hair. "Yesss..." she murmurs, "I think I'm getting it..."
[17:24] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[17:24] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 92." [1d100=92]
[17:27] <Ebiris> After a moment, she recoils as if burnt, a pained hiss escaping her lips! "Oh, how wretched!" she whines, hurrying back towards the party. "The key is to think impure thoughts. I'll wish you good luck with that and leave." With a full-body shudder, Nasfreiyin flees back through the maze towards the exit.
[17:27] * Amonet thanks her as she flees, before glancing at the others. "Umm. Do we all have to think them?"
[17:27] <Gourash> "Impure..thoughts?" Gourash blinked, eying the fleeing demoness and then...Amonet.
[17:28] <Ebiris> "Maybe someone can try and open it for the rest of us first, to see if that'd work?" Marjorie asks weakly.
[17:28] * Amonet pats Alveria's shoulder instantly, with just a tad more strength than normally, perhaps.
[17:31] <Amonet> Alveria thinks very impure thoughts about Puk'Lor and his beloved blade.
[17:32] <Ebiris> Alveria feels drawn towards the portal, but there's no visible change.
[17:33] * Gourash steps towards it since Amonet was not rising to the bait..., thinking dark thoughts of Naf as a convenient source of carnal enjoyment.
[17:34] <Amonet> "Anything?" Amonet asks hopefully.
[17:34] <Ebiris> As he starts thinking these thoughts, Gourash can feel a subtle pull drawing him towards the portal. Its nothing he can't resist, more just a faint feeling that that is the direction he should go in.
[17:35] <Amonet> Seeing no other choice, Amonet closes her eyes and fills her entire being with adulation of Horus-Re, divine energy healing her mortal ailments and elating her spirit!
[17:36] * Gourash heads in that direction.
[17:36] <Ebiris> Amonet feels very close to her God.
[17:37] <Ebiris> As Gourash steps closer, he feels the pull getting stronger, starting to feel more like a strong wind on his back. Then, as he finally steps between the two fallen cabinets, he vanishes!
[17:37] * Amonet follows Gourash into the portal, as he seems to pass through it successfully.
[17:38] <Ebiris> Amonet walks through the two cabinets with no effect, stepping out on the other side and still in the hall of records beneath Xaos.
[17:38] * Amonet sighs in dejection. "I don't think I'm impure enough," she says mournfully. "I might need assistance?"
[17:38] <Ebiris> "Um, maybe I can think for both of us, Amonet?" Marjorie whispers nervously. "T-Try walking through again."
[17:39] <Gourash> Eagan eyes amonet, and more specifically the feminine parts of her, heading towards the portal.
[17:39] <Ebiris> Eagan steps through and vanishes! Puk'lor stops just by the portal, waiting on Alveria.
[17:39] * Amonet puts her faith in her best friend, even though she is a ghost in a lance, and tries stepping through again once Eagan passed.
[17:40] <Ebiris> This time Amonet vanishes, just before stepping into Puk'lor on the other side!
[17:40] <Amonet> Alveria follows quickly.
[17:40] <Ebiris> Puk'lor follows the elven wizard, leaving Keylin all on her lonesome.
[17:40] * Keylin thinks of all the things she wished she could have done to that person instead of how she handed her resignation from the military, what with how much she hates him, and tries to follow.
[17:42] <Ebiris> Keylin seems to shimmer for a moment, almost as if some esoteric cosmic force is weighing her thoughts in the balance... but soon she too vanishes, joining her friends in Limbo!
