Dawn's Prelude: An Attack from the Wylds

[23:32] JusticeFishy: It was a warm spring day, the month of Resplendent Wood....when, you, Dawn, were walking home from a day at the mill.  Now, the mill was, oh, a good two miles from the town but you savored the walk each day you had to make it.  It was quiet, a time for thought and introspection...*
[23:38] * DawnPhoenix smiles happily, enjoying the walk. It may seem odd to an invisible watcher, to see a young lady in her teens walking along without a care in the world. Particularly an attractive blonde, carrying no weapon and wearing a set of riders' pants and loose white blouse. However, the watcher would not have the full story.
[23:40] * DawnPhoenix tends to travel where she wishes when fairly near the village. Bandits rarely come to this poor town, if ever; and as known as she is for taking somewhat blatant advantage of being helpful to all of Ren's Walk, Dawn simply doesn't figure that anyone near would wish her harm. After all, she hasn't beaten any of the boys in a fight for... oh, a week now.
[23:40] JusticeFishy: It was about half a mile away form town when you first got wind of that smell...smoke, but not the smoke of Master Kimura's famous roasted pig...no, this is a smell of buring wood and of a roasting flesh you've only smelled once before. It was on that night when the inn burned down....the smell of roasting human
[23:43] DawnPhoenix:  * Because of this, Dawn is in a pretty cheerful mood, and enjoying the warm weather.  This changes, however, as she catches the whiff of smoke.  Dawn's eyes widen, knowing fire can quickly spread, doing a lot of damage.  Once the scent of PEOPLE reaches her, though, Dawn takes off at a sprint for the village, starting to panic.

[23:44] JusticeFishy: It's just over the hill when you see it, the entire village in flames, make awareness+preception!

[23:48] JusticeFishy: You see, in the village, small figures lurking around, one cutting open someone (you can't make out who) in a spray of blood
[23:49] JusticeFishy: they don't seem to notice you, so caught up in their slaughter
[23:50] * DawnPhoenix freezes for a moment, gasping as she sees the figure cutting open a villager. With a scream, Dawn sprints at that figure. "NOOO! DON'T YOU DARE!"
[23:51] JusticeFishy: As you get closer...it's a man, beautiful, though something inherantly wrong about him, clad in glass and filagree armor...
[23:51] JusticeFishy: He looks up at you, grinning as you see it....a monster, body of a cat, great wings and head of a hawk....eating him....his throat near torn out, lying in a pool of his own blood
[23:53] JusticeFishy: "She's mine" the man chides as the beast snorts. He steps out at you, prepared to meet your attack
[23:54] * DawnPhoenix growls, continuing to advance. Wishing she HAD brought a weapon - at least a stick - she launches a quick kick at the man on the way in. "Why would you DO this?!"

[00:10] * DawnPhoenix yelps, scrambling back both from the bloody slash and the sudden knowledge of what the man... no... the monster is. "You... fair folk... I..." She pauses, caught between wanting to run away from the thing and not wanting to leave the village to him.

[00:11] JusticeFishy: He gives a deep laugh
[00:13] * DawnPhoenix 's heart races... but if there is any hope in the situation for her village, it won't come from hesitation. Gritting her teeth, Dawn shakes off a bit of the blood and charges as the cataphractoi, yelling as she starts to take a jumping kick... which is faked and turned into a sweep.

[00:19] * DawnPhoenix yells in fury at THAT comment. Take away her free will? Yeah, that'll piss her off. "SUN TAKE YOU!" Instead of just standing up, Dawn flips to her feet and corkscrews into a roundhouse at the fair warrior's face!

[00:29] * DawnPhoenix collapses, screaming briefly before it cuts off as she hits the ground. She tries to get up... but only manages to flop uselessly, having difficulty doing anything with such a grievous injury.
[00:30] JusticeFishy: He grins, sheathing his sword. "I'll return for you later morsel...I can trust that you won't run?"
[00:31] * DawnPhoenix coughs up blood, managing to look up at the fair-faced monster. "No... don..."
[00:31] JusticeFishy: Turning his back to you, begining to walk off, chuckling about his future meal and mate....ewwww?
[00:32] JusticeFishy: As you see the monster...the hawk-cat, padding beside him, the arm of the boy you fell in love with
[00:35] * DawnPhoenix gasps softly, trying and failing again to stand. One arm reaches out, shakily. "Don't..." .oO(Most Exalted... please... help me...Unconquered Sun, save my people, I'll... anything... ))
[00:35] DawnPhoenix: (( Err, not two ) .  Just one. ))
[00:36] JusticeFishy: The fire in you, burned out to mere ashes by the cataphractoi's assault suddenly flares up. You feel strength return...then something beyond that, a feeling of approval and a weight in each hand*
[00:46] * DawnPhoenix spasms, once... and then suddenly flips to her feet, moving with a speed she never had before. She spares a brief glance down at the weapons in her hands... strange old devices, but oddly comforting, with a grip, trigger, and barrel; they get a quick approving nod. (continues)
[00:49] * DawnPhoenix brings one of the guns up to her face, as she takes a deep breath. Then dawn kisses the barrel, whispering softly. "Thank you, Unconquered Sun." Extending the gun, Dawn takes a moment to yell out "MONSTER!", in an attempt to get the fairfolk warrior's attention, before she puts all of her rage into a pull of the trigger.

[00:50] * DawnPhoenix flinches a bit as a lance of bright fire streaks out at the cataphractoi, but her aim stays true. This abomination must DIE, and the gods themselves have given her their blessing to make it so.

[01:01] * DawnPhoenix twists her body a bit, narrowly avoiding the blade as it slashes by. She winces a bit as the illusions form... but the darkness holds no terror for the new Exalted, and she replies. No words, this time; Dawn simply steps back, extends her other Plasma Repeater, and fires it.

[01:14] * DawnPhoenix bends down, a little closer to the Wyld creature. "What would YOU do, if you were me?"
[01:15] JusticeFishy: "I-I'd...not kill you...savor your dreams..."

[01:17] JusticeFishy: "Knight of the Blue Mountain..." *he looks up at you* "I-IF YOU DON"T KILL ME! I-I"LL SERVE YOU! A THOUSAND AND ONE DAYS!" *he yells this out....* "I SWEAR ON MY NAME!"

[01:24] DawnPhoenix: "First.  You will help rebuild the village and repair the damage you have done.  Second.  You will never again harm the innocent, nor feed on their dreams.  Third, you will not help others to harm the innocent or feed on their dreams. (continued)
[01:26] * DawnPhoenix seems to glow with barely contained rage, speaking as calmly as she can manage. "Swear to these on your name, and you live. Answer honestly that you can not, or will not, do these, and I will make your death quick. But defy me or harm my people again, and your screams of torment will last through a cycle of seasons, never stopping. CHOOSE."
[01:27] JusticeFishy: "I-I will serve" *he bows his head....* "ON my name I swear to do those things..."
[01:28] JusticeFishy: "Now leave me be....a broken husk...leave me shining child"
[01:31] DawnPhoenix: "I... should kill you.  You don't even understand how much pain you've caused... you live only because you may do some good in the world yet..."
[01:31] * DawnPhoenix stands up, staggering, and walks towards the closest intact building. Dawn would like to pass out, that sounds so good... but doing so in view of the Wyld monster would not be a good idea. Not at all.
[01:32] JusticeFishy: He looks at you as you walk into....your house....your parents no where to be found, but you notice that the basement is barricaded*
[01:34] JusticeFishy: And it hasn't been broke into
[01:36] * DawnPhoenix walks slowly over to the basement door, and bangs on the barricade. "Mother? Father?"
[01:36] JusticeFishy: "...."
"Dawny?" your father
"Jozan! It might be a trap! How do we know you're really our Dawn?" *yelling out*
[01:38] JusticeFishy: the second being your mother
[01:38] DawnPhoenix: "Mother, I... I cried at my last birthday, when you said how proud you were.  Please... I'm tired..."
[01:39] JusticeFishy: It's a few minutes as they break the barricades....
[01:39] JusticeFishy: They're alright...but, when they see you
[01:39] JusticeFishy: "D-Dawn? Y-You're glowing?" *scared, from your mother*
[01:40] JusticeFishy: Your father is just speechless
[01:42] * DawnPhoenix nods, stepping towards her mother. "I'm okay... the Sun saved me..."
[01:42] JusticeFishy: (OOC: Worship of the Unconquered Sun is pretty damn rare...)

[01:44] JusticeFishy: "....y-you....like one of those Anathema the Immaculate priests told us about..." *your father, quiet* "B-but you're okay! Right?" *he looks at you worried* "I-is the monster gone?"
[01:44] JusticeFishy: "Glowing...." your mother, still
[01:46] * DawnPhoenix shakes her head, sitting down heavily. "I'm okay... tired... it will fix the village, then leave..."
[01:46] JusticeFishy: "Shh...Dawn...sleep..." Your father, hugging you tight
[01:49] * DawnPhoenix nods, hugging her father as she starts to pass out. "I'm so sorry.."
[01:49] JusticeFishy: Letting you fall asleep in his arms
[01:49] JusticeFishy: "Shhh, shh, you tried..."
[01:50] JusticeFishy: It's a somber day when you wake up next. The villagers are too scared to harm the Knight....and, thankfully, out of the 900 people in town, only 5 were killed and a hair more than 20 injured....
[02:01] * DawnPhoenix is a bit slow to wake up... but does so surprisingly clear headed, considering the thrashing she took yesterday. It may not be as surprising to those who understand more about the supernatural, but to Dawn and the villagers it's probably a welcome turn of events.

[02:01] * DawnPhoenix sits up quite suddenly once she realizes she's awake, looking around quickly.

[02:04] JusticeFishy: *It's a weird next few weeks, the Knight working hard on repairing....he gives the villagers a wide berth, and they give him one....every night he vanishes, a small pocket of wyld nearby, to gain nourishment, but is always back the next morning, working dutifully*
[02:06] JusticeFishy: It's been about 2 months since you Exalted when you feel a slight twinge, it's been growing since 2 weeks after you Exalted....a feeling of wanderlust, of wanting to leave*
