Puzzling over the writings of Belpheron, Alveria thinks she can make sense of the ritual he describes!

Soul Eater
Necromancy (Evil)
Effective Level: 8th
Skill Check: Knowledge (Arcana) DC 27, 4 checks
Failure: Attack
Components: 1hd of sacrificial victims per hd of target, XP (250 per hd of target)
Casting Time: 40 minutes
Range: Close
Target: 1 willing or helpless creature with an Int score higher than 3. May not be Undead, Construct, or Outsider.
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This dreadful incantation transforms the recipient into a vile creature that feeds upon the souls of intelligent beings. The recipient must be willing to undergo the transformation, or rendered helpless for the duration of the ritual. Sacrificial victims with a total hd equal to the hd of the recipient must be present during the ritual - they can either be willing or restrained, and must all have int scores greater than 3, and cannot be either Undead or Constructs.

Upon conclusion of the ritual, the sacrificial victims are all immediately slain, their souls consumed by the nascant Soul Eater as its first meal. The new Soul Eater immediately gains a level in the Soul Eater Prestige Class (page 66, Book of Vile Darkness), and must take all future levels in that class until it has reached 10th level, after which it can multiclass freely.

In addition to the traits listed in the class description, the Soul Eater immediately regresses to a Young Adult (physical penalties vanish, mental bonuses remain), and will be effectively immortal so long as it consumes the souls of intelligent creatures with a total hd equal to its own every month. If it does not do this, it will gain an age category every month (accruing penalties but not bonuses) until it feeds again. After four months, it must make a constitution check (DC 15) every month, dying upon failure, and losing a point of constitution on success. Consuming the required number of souls will immediately regress it to Young Adult, and remove all penalties (including constitution loss). A Soul Eater requires no other sustenance, and does not need to eat. It still must sleep.

If the ritual fails, 1d4 Dread Wraiths are summoned to attack all participants in the ritual.

Gourash briefly checks the buried chamber, seeing if he can safely dig a bit into it and whether it's completely buried or merely had a bit collapse and block the way.  Digs towards the top to avoid further cave in.

Well, Goodbye.

Digging in a bit, Gourash really can't spend the time to do too much, but by digging around the partially exposed statue, he does find a crystalline blue flask held in its hands, with a stopper tied to its lid.

[18:46] <Corwin> roll 1d20+5 alchemy!
[18:46] * Hatbot --> "Corwin rolls 1d20+5 alchemy! and gets 11." [1d20=6]
[18:46] <Corwin> Yeah, that fails
[18:47] <Corwin> roll 1d20+5 alchemy! other liquid!
[18:47] * Hatbot --> "Corwin rolls 1d20+5 alchemy! other liquid! and gets 24." [1d20=19]

Amonet discovers that the white liquid is an extremely decayed enhanced alchemist's frost. While it is useless for its original purpose, the passing of millenia has oddly given it the miraculous property of enhancing any cold damage suffered by someone struck - if someone is hit by the flask, any cold damage they take before scraping it off (a move action) is maximised.

Uh...let's go after the orcss for V-chan?

Sorry, I didn't even see this post.  It might be easier  if you make a comments thread or something to distinguish it from logs at a glance when you want an answer.  ^^;;

I dunno.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Carthrat

Maybe we could have the RANDOM ENCOUNTER COUNTDOWN thread.
