I've actually -not- played the game myself, despite knowing of it (enough to know the general mood/theme of it anyway).

I may try to find the game in one of the various local game shops and playing through it over one of the weekends before game starts.

I'm gonna call dibs on fighter, I think, because I've already been beaten to other class choices I would have made due to not calling dibs. I was originally thinking warlord, but Brian made his character sheet in 5 minutes when I joked he had an hour limit. I started to look at fey warlock, and next day, I see Jon was already making one himself. Well crap! XD

So yeah, I'll call dibs on meatshield.

Reminder: Concepts not sheets yet.  I will (hopefully) be whipping that sheet into order this weekend.  I'm trying to mental out the conceptual basis for ship fighting right now and how it can continue the trend of everyone getting to make cool decisions during it (rather than one captain shouting orders).

I'd probably like a thief or whatever you whippersnappers call it in one of these newfangled editions.  :p  Failing that, a fighter so long as I can use a swashbucklery sword.

I had a Fey Warlock in mind, but I'll happily switch to Wizard instead if that'd be optimum.

Well, let's see.

We have Brian as a Warlord (Buffer).
We have Edward as a Rogue (Striker).
Merc as a fighter( Defender).

I don't see a problem with Jon playing another striker, provided Iddy plays a controller.  I'm going to trust the books on having the full set be important.

Okay, actually, Jon and Iddy, talk it out and decide amongst yourselves.  I just rechecked and realized wizard is the only controller.  Which is lame and I don't want to automatically buttonhole iddy into a class without him getting to talk.  So chat it out and see which you guys want.

Really, it's either. I'm used to playing a melee combatant, but I've been semi-interested in playing a mage class. I need to get the books and look over the classes, at least skimming, though.
