Sacchin throws wood on the big wooden object in her path! It does not vanish! It is still an eyesore. This door is an eyesore. This-you get the idea. It's now a door with some wooden rubble lying in front of it.

Clearly, then, it is Sacchin's sworn duty break the door down so that they might proceed onwards.

I'll take 20 for 22 or something. Muscles, flex!

WHAM! BAM! SLAM! The third time does it as Sacchin throws her armored body at the wooden door! Doors die when they are killed and this door has been killed! It breaks off it's hinges, falling away into broken rubble! Sacchin seems to be good at that. Anyway, ahead is a clear path. No aggravating mists this time, no sirree!  Just a rusty iron hallway, the sounds of clanging metal heard in the distance. It's quite dark - only a few faint, sputtering torches hang from the walls here. It reeks of metal, smoke and death.

Sacchin doesn't see any robo-flesh golems that are on fire ahead, before she can think to ask.

Sacchin wrinkles her nose, but marches straight on in, wishing the torches were either better lit or not there at all.

Her shield and flail are ready to protect her against whatever might spring forth.

#364
Sacchin advances onward, leading the party more or less bravely! After walking perhaps 100 feet, the sound of pounding metal gets...louder. Much louder. Ahead, Sacchin can see a vast open space, the party above it. The hallway comes to an end, a stairway leading down to it. Here you can see a vast automated steelworks, unseen forces directing raw ore, having it processed, melted and eventually pressed and cooled. It is carried off unseen into the far darkness.

Yet you see not a soul in this steel mill, everything being done as if by magic or the force of will of a great being beyond your ken.

The fall from top of the stairs to the bottom is about 50 feet deep. You can get quite the view of the entire thing from the stairs, if one is so inclined to walk there.

Sacchin walks to the edge of the stairs and peers over the railing, scanning across the room.

"I slept in a place like this once," she comments. "Comfortable underneath."

"Waaaarmmmm..." Your steamy friend sighs happily as he peers ahead, "Fresh sssssssssteeeel is waaaarm." He flutters near Euphy, shooting looks to Flasheart on occasion.

Looking below, you get a superb view. The entire thing snakes about, several lines of steel work from left to right, conveyor belts working just fine. Far, far, far to the left, you can glimpse where the ore is poured on from chutes in the wall, being seperated and worked over time. The lines snake onwards a long time, reaching vast vats of molten metal in the center. The melted metal is then run on funnel like conveyor belts towards the right, being water cooled and pressed into large sheets. The stamping sound comes from that, each hit quite loud. It's nearly deafening from here, it will surely be worse below.  Far to the right, you can see the cooled steel processed down more chutes.

Past all of this you can't see, a strong darkness and steam from the water cooling making vision a hard shot from here. You can make out a few dim things - it doens't look like there is a wall past this, but something else. Of course, there's not really any gaps in the entire affair - getting past the steelworks looks to be a feat.

"What are they making?" asks Sacchin, glancing at the mephit.

Euphemia looks for a spot where she could comfortably snipe and otherwise cover Sacchin and Flasheart without heading into the enormous factory.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Ebiris

"Hmm... there doesn't seem to be any way around all of that blasted machinery, though," Flasheart remarks as he peers down. "Sparky! Why don't you buzz around and take a look?" he requests as his hawk takes flight to see if it can spot a path that they missed.

[11:37] * Hatbot --> "Celenu rolls 1d20+16 and gets 24." [1d20=8]

Spot check. Sparky has low-light vision and darkvision if it helps. He'll caw if he spots anything notable and land beside it if it's a safe path

Anastasia

Euphy, what's your range increment? I'd like to have that handy for reference.

Euphy finds that the top of the stairway is a great place for long range sniping.

Sparky thus goes flying! He swoops about, getting a view! There are three possible places to cross - there's a ladder early to the left, where the raw ore travels down conveyor belt. It goes right to the belt directly. The second is a small little gap between the hot vats of molten steel, one you would have to wiggle through a bit. It's also very hot there, the heat from the molten metal radiating out. The third is a walkway built into the conveyor belt, under the steel presses. It's like someone burrowed out a hole to walk through and it looks quite safe, minus all the noise.

Sparky caws as he lands at the top of the ladder, prompting Flasheart to call out, "Jolly good show! Follow me, everyone!" as he heads down the stairs, intending to climb the ladder and hop over the conveyer belt before climbing down the other side.

Anastasia

Lord Flasheart climbs up the ladder! As he does, he gets a fine look of what lies ahead. The ore is processed along, seemingly moved by the belt and unseen forces. It's a fairly wide conveyor belt, 10 feet wide if one wants to leap it. However, in this position, there is no place or chance to make a running start for a long jump.

How quickly is it moving? If it's slow enough he could just walk across it.
