You know, this damage taken thing. When I think about it, how does that even happen? Most melee dudes shouldn't be able to touch you when you have trip+15ft reach. I really think you're underselling your own defenses. 23 AC is not really insignificant, either. You may have had bad luck up until now, but anyone can have bad luck. It's not like you're going to always have to 'pay in blood' for chances to deal damage, especially when you're running around with travel devotion for added hax.

And while I continue to acknowledge that getting Bell (or any steed, really) will change the dynamic quite a bit (to the point where I seriously wonder if I should even have a pegasus, although since I'm going to be trooping underground a lot the advantages are likely negated for a while)...

QuoteBut it also shouldn't matter as much as knight gets plenty of other opportunities to shine and battle is more fun working as cooperative groups anyway then measuring each character.

I think this just isn't true, or at least hasn't been since Kam has joined. We haven't exactly been following my quest whilst we were working for Granny Tam. Kam's had pretty much every opportunity to do stuff Knight has had elsewhere, too, and she really is no inherently better at 'out of combat' stuff than he is.

And on the topic of the quest, I can get why it's annoying to feel like you're just trailing on someone else's story, but I'm also the only person who has a concrete goal towards which clear steps can be taken. If this annoys, I don't really know what to do about it; either other personal plots must be found, more group hooks are necessary, or something. I read somewhere that plots begin with a character who *wants* something very badly. Perhaps a bit of re-imagining can be in order, so people who want them can have their own quests? I am totally in for helping other people accomplish their goals, I kinda like playing an advisor.

Socially, well. Kam's quiet. Knight is also fairly quiet. She only really talks to Mari and Nikki because they're the only ones who really talk a lot. This, however, could easily change. I'm around a lot, you know where to find me. >_>

I've tried to make it clear both here and in the couple times we've chatted in PM that I at least don't really care if you mop up combats like Jackie Chan in a janitor uniform while I plink away with single digit MMs. So long as I can contribute *something* to the party, which I can in the form of aggressive AC whoring and scouting and such, I'm fine. I'm hoping that all got through, but I'm guessing it probably didn't. Sorry if I was adding to the negative vibes at all.

And I will admit that the quiet part is entirely me. Typing is awkward for me, I don't think with my fingers at all, and I type so slowly that I swear 80% of the time when I finally get a line nearly finished, whoever I was about to respond to has moved on so I just delete it. This all boils down to "I don't talk much in online games". I can try to talk more, though.

I run into the latter a fair bit in this game as well.  Usually I'm fast enough though.  Just the more I actually think about what I'm saying, the more likely someone else has said it in four words without any fluff.
Well, Goodbye.

Logically, I agree with you that I shouldn't take damage as much as I do.  There are of course ways around that, and ranged attacks, spells, and folks with reach almost equal to mine is part of it.  That and me not being conservative and waiting around when dune plops GIGANTIC ELEMENTAL around since while I'd take tons of damage, so would everyone else if I just waited for it.  I'm not alone in the party and as much as I suppose I could play super defensive and wait, I generally have been taking the angle "if gigantic enemy spawns, keep it away from the rest of the party", which gets me hurt.  The reality is, and I commented on it a while ago, we've not faced melee dudes without reach since I joined the party.  Even the salamanders had spells to fire at me which make physical defenses pointless as I'm taking damage even if I save.

Anyhow, on the defense thing, my defense was 'okay' but not good.  Dune did just give me a 2 ac boost and rage is a -3 ac.  So when the stops were coming out to deal with 15 foot reach giant elementals, I was operating at AC 18.  Pretty hittable at our level.  AC 20 isn't bad.  When I add a shield, I'll definitely have an amazing ac for a barbarian and a pretty average ac otherwise.  In either case, it doesn't do much good if dune is plopping down +19 to hit enemies.  18 isn't even an obstacle, and even your own 28 is just likely to be nailed.  As long as the enemies keep having high teens to hits, an AC in the low 20s is effectively not an ac at all.  That goes for Mari and Nikkolai just as well in the same thing, but they don't have hp to even soak it.

Anyhow, that's the logic, I agree with it.  And then there's the statistical reality behind which is that per point of damage given, kam has taken more damage than anyone else.  Yes, both categories are high, but I'm not actually doing that good at being safe about it and generally running into enough folks that pressure his strengths or simply can be fatal in a single blow.

Just a session ago, we had a thirty plus minute section on you asking if you were pretty.  Yes, you do get other and more opportunites to shine.  Yes, I should do more pushing on that front, but you do overshadow on both the foreigness AND the approachability bit as a character.

Again, logic and reality of what the logs show.  Something I wouldn't have commented on really, and really wouldn't have bothered me (the game is better for everyone showboating) except that as it is tossed up as such a heavy grudge that you want more and to swipe it off what little areas I'm taking presently.  And of course this is opposite to what you've said ooc, but you're also the only one aside from dune voicing an issue with it here, so I guess that's more likely to be true.

But I've tried to drag you in on some things, most recently suggesting a few times that it'd be cool to learn cards and such from knight and trying to get a chat about that.  I did just recently, drag you and mari into a session after practically everyone dodging having any sessions off the side and even brought it up during it a few times, but it was side stepped really as you guys wanted to run Knight getting Drunk as the only scene there.

Knight isn't quiet either.  You're the character that most often cuts me off while I'm making a longer post by saying the same thing in four words without any description around it.  I've mentioned that before ooc, and we waved it on.  That happens in IRC chat games though and it isn't something to begrudge, but you're hardly quiet.

I didn't mind being part of knight's quest except when it was couched in terms of "Knight isn't the most awesome character in combat, that's a problem".  Technically, I still don't mind, but I'll try and take over more stuff anyway.  Anyhow, Yeah, the metagame problem that kam is so good that the others don't get to participate. :(  Man, you'd think with that I'd actually get to RP having some amount of fighting technique to spare when things got rough.

Anyhow, I'll try more, it's just annoying in context when you've brushed off earlier attempts to but yeah, it's probably just not communicating well and we'll try and do some stuff.

*eyes up* Above is harsh, but we're both using harsh words :P
