[19:40] * Janson continues to maintain faith in his feelings always being good.
[19:41] <Kotono> As you continue on a little farther, you can see them ahead. Deer, rats, wolves, feral cats, squirrels. The animals of the forest are ahead, lying on the ground and looking towards the light. Wolves lie with rabbits, cats with rats. Ahead the forest begins to thin out - you can see something ahead, as well as hear it. A wind-whistling sound, churning.
[19:42] * Janson asks one of the cats in passing if it knows what this is all about.
[19:43] <Kotono> The feline looks up, and with a silken cat smile, "Have to be here. Vortex."
[19:44] <Janson> That's about as good as he's likely to get from an animal, although he doesn't get the why of things yet. "Some sort of vortex, the animals feel they have to be here," he tells his companions, continuing onwards to get a better look at it, with magic-sight as well!
[19:44] <Aaeru> "And you two?" Aaeru asks dubiously, glancing at Wayland and Janson.
[19:45] <Wayland> "I've never felt anything like it. It's very strange. I'm not sure how I can better describe it." Wayland shakes his head.
[19:45] <Janson> "My gut says we should go to it," Janson nods. "At the very least it's something interesting."
[19:48] <Andria> "I find it weird that neither Aaeru nor I feel anything, but so much else does. The animals, magical beings, you two...why not us?" Andrea wonders.
[19:49] * Aaeru shrugs. "Maybe it's a guy thing, but I'm not checking any of the animals."
[19:49] <Kotono> The party proceeds a little further. As the trees thin out the whirling, whistling sound becomes louder. Ahead is an open grove, the ground rocky and denuded of any growth. A great whirlwind of stones rises 20 feet up into the air! In it you see small men-shaped beings of rock and stone pacing, in some sort of dance. It grows thinner as it goes up, to a tiny point twenty feet up. At this point
[19:49] <Kotono> a tornado of wind meets it, twenty feet up and ascending up to the sky. It gets bigger as it goes higher. In this tornado the light shines, hundreds of will o wisp within. At the point where the two vortexes meet, incandescent light crackles and electricity sparks, tiny thunderbolts.
[19:50] <Aaeru> "Huh."
[19:50] <Janson> "Never seen anything like this before..." Janson breathes, staring in awe at the conflux of elements.
[19:50] <Wayland> "This is...not exactly what I expected." Wayland says.

[19:55] <Janson> "Wait, I think I remember Elena talking about this once..." Janson mutters. "It's caused by ley lines surging - it means there's a focus of power in the centre. If a person or object can survive being in the centre of the elemental vortex, it'll absorb a huge amount of elemental power."
[19:57] <Aaeru> "Are you suggesting to toss Wayland inside and have him come out stronger for it?" Aaeru wonders in response. "We already know he is unkillable, so it sounds like a great idea!"
[19:57] <Wayland> "That might not actually be a horrible idea, Aaeru." Wayland half-smiles.
[19:58] <Aaeru> "Of course it isn't!"
[19:58] <Andria> "Let's not test Ilmater's patience with continually reviving you, Wayland..." Andrea says with a small frown.
[19:58] <Janson> "He might have an edge since he's aligned with air - but being opposed to earth might make it even more dangerous for him, too," Janson posits. "I guess what it would really come down to is being able to endure bludgeoning earth and charged electricity all around you. But an object could be used as a focus as well as a person."
[20:01] * Aaeru shrugs. "We can all try it together. You two feel like we were meant to come here, right? I don't see why we can't."
[20:02] <Wayland> "We may have more success like that, yes."
[20:03] * Aaeru glances at Janson and Andrea next.
[20:04] <Janson> "You're not at all frightened by being crushed to bits in the middle of all that rock?" Janson asks in surprise. "I know a few women who'd jump at the chance to try this, but they're all extremely attuned to the elements. I'm pretty tough, but..." he fumbles around to grab a piece of deadwood and then hurls it towards the whirlwind of stone, being careful not to hit any of the elementals. It
[20:04] <Janson> should provide a decent gauge of how destructive it is.
[20:04] <Aaeru> "Not particularly, no," Aaeru responds, shaking her head.
[20:04] <Kotono> The wood is tossed into the stone! Flying bits of rock hit it, knocking it down and out of the vortex.
[20:05] <Aaeru> "The only thing we have to lose here is our pride, it seems."
[20:05] <Janson> "Huh..." Janson blinks. "Okay, guess it's not nearly as severe as I thought. I guess we could try."
[20:05] * Aaeru nods. "Andrea?"
[20:05] <Wayland> "I do not think that it is a mere coincidence that we are here as this happens. I think that there is something at work here."
[20:06] <Andria> Andrea pauses, and looks at the vortex with a little doubt. "If...if you feel that this is what you were drawn here for, then it probably is best if we do so. Although I really wish I had grabbed some of that potion that Josa made recently if we're going to be jumping in there."
[20:07] <Aaeru> "Let's go, then! On three?" Aaeru counts down, and then jumps into the vortex.
[20:07] * Wayland gleefully follows!
[20:08] * Janson is more hesitant, watching from the edge for a moment to gauge the flows before he waits on a particularly large chunk of rock whirling by, which he lunges out to grab and swing himself onto, intent on riding it to the top!
[20:08] <Janson> Or the middle, more accurately.
[20:10] <Andria> Andrea closes her eyes, and mutters, "Alicia protect me and my crazy friends..." as she jumps in as well.
[20:13] <Kotono> In a moment the party is caught up in the vortext of stone! They are hurtled up and around and around, careening towards the center! OOC: If any of you want to react or do anything as you do, go ahead. Otherwise just say you're standing pat.
[20:14] * Janson just hangs on and keeps an eye out in case any other rocks look about to knock him off his current ride!
[20:14] <Aaeru> Janson said that they have to be in the center, so Aaeru experimentally adjusts her position within the vortex, much like a human kite would.
[20:15] <Wayland> Using his innate ability to levitate, Wayland attempts to force his way toward the center of the event!
[20:16] <Andria> "Aiiiiiiiggggh!!!!" Andrea screams in panic as she opens her eyes, desperately trying to move closer towards her friends, though mostly flailing about as the vortex does most of the moving for her.

[20:31] * Aaeru groans, waiting for the naked stone men to stop dancing in the skies above before she even attempts to move.
[20:32] <Andria> "Okay, just to make it clear..." Andrea starts saying calmly as she groggily stands up from the crater she formed, before drawing breath inward. "LET US NEVER DO SOMETHING THAT CRAZY AGAIN!!!"
[20:33] <Aaeru> "You didn't have fun?" Aaeru asks, blinking the visions away.
[20:33] <Janson> Any groaning Janson makes is muffled by having his head buried in the soil. Flailing his feet a bit to try and rock and widen the hole he's made, he slowly worms his way out, a dazed grin on his face. "Oh, I've never felt so close to the Earth... is this what it's like for women?"
[20:33] <Wayland> "Why? That was fun!" Wayland says, slowly floating to the ground.
[20:34] <Aaeru> "Better," Aaeru affirms for Janson's sake, content to lie and gather her strength.
[20:35] <Wayland> "Is what like what better for women? What?" Wayland peers at Janson.
[20:36] <Janson> "Everything," Janson shrugs, before rubbing the dirt out of his hair. "Being closer to the Earth, more in tune with nature, more intuitive, all that stuff."
[20:38] <Wayland> "Ah. Nature. Right." Wayland nods absently, looking around.
[20:38] <Andria> "No, not really. Well, not that I've ever been able to tell. All I got out of that was a fright and my head is spinning...I can't believe you found that -fun-, Wayland!" Andrea exclaims as she dusts herself.

[20:38] <Wayland> "Oh come on, you can't tell me that wasn't awesome! The wind! The danger! It was life!"
[20:38] <Kotono> The animals are gone, as are the rock-men and will o wisps. The vortex has died down, leaving piles of stone in the clearing.
[20:39] <Andria> "Ugh, I'm glad the vortex is gone. You guys would have just jumped back in otherwise, I bet."
[20:39] <Janson> "Well, I say it was a worthwhile detour. None of us are really hurt and we all learned something - even if it was just to avoid vortexes for Andrea," Janson stands up, dusting himself off.
[20:39] <Wayland> "That's very likely."
[20:39] <Aaeru> "Not before savoring it, first. But yep, pretty much." Aaeru finally gets to her feet, and uses a cantrip to clean herself right up.
[20:41] * Wayland shakes himself and quickly brushes himself clean, the light sound of whipping breeze kicking up around him.
[20:42] <Andria> "I'm about as awake as I'm going to get. Any of you guys planning on going back to sleep, or shall we keep moving?" Andrea asks.

[20:44] <Janson> "Yeah, we're up and it's light enough, lets go," Janson agrees.
[20:44] <Wayland> "Yeah, I think that after that, we should probably get moving."

Four of them - stone men, about the size of a dwarf if not a little smaller. Each is made of earth and stone, slowly proceeding towards the party. They're currently 30 feet away and making no attempt to hide themselves.

[21:50] <Andria> Andrea returns to help finish off the remaining elemental, standing next to Wayland as she tries to slash at the elemental, taking care not to hit Aaeru.

[21:52] <Aaeru> "Just what was this all about?!" Aaeru exclaims, staring at the rubble left behind.
[21:52] <Andria> "I want to know that too...that was just weird," Andrea mutters.
[21:53] <Janson> "What the hell... those things really wrecked you guys!" Janson exclaims, rooting around for some healing nectar and coming over to offer it to Aaeru. "I've never seen anything like this happen before."
[21:53] <Wayland> Panting, Wayland says, "Was it because of the vortex?"
[21:54] <Aaeru> "Why would it be?" Aaeru asks, considering the nectar. She ends up smiling gratefully at Janson, and passing it on to Andrea, while her own meager healing goes towards Wayland.
[21:54] <Andria> "Doesn't seem like we'll ever know. It doesn't really matter, at least we made it through the fight, and that's what matters."
[21:55] <Janson> "I hope no more come, since I doubt we'd do so well against another lot. You three look really banged up," Janson winces, looking back the way the elementals came.
[21:56] * Wayland nods. "That was pretty intense. Who knows, it could be because of me. Earth and Air come into conflict, I guess?"
[21:57] <Janson> "They did seem to hit you with the most ferocity, but neither Aaeru nor Andrea got off lightly either," Janson considers.
[21:57] <Aaeru> "That can't be it," Aaeru says tentatively, before she shakes her head more firmly. "No. It can't be. Earth and Air came to meet together to form that vortex. They can't possibly be upset here."
[21:57] <Andria> "Hrm, let's hold off on the nectar, I'm going to use some of my magic first, it's going to go to waste if I don't use it, and hopefully we won't get into more fights today," Andrea says as she declines the nectar for now. Instead, she begins singing a prayer to Alicia, a familiar song to Janson and Aaeru, before she begins trying to heal up their wounds.

[21:59] <Andria> With Wayland taken care off, Andrea focuses on her own wounds, knowing Aaeru would not accept any aid while the rest of them were still injured.

[22:00] <Andria> "I didn't heal everything, but Wayland and I are fine now, so you take the nectar for the remainder of your wounds, Aaeru," Andrea requests, looking at Aaeru with wide, pleading eyes, like a child begging their parent to buy them a toy.
[22:02] <Aaeru> "I think I'll be fine now," Aaeru responds, moving her limbs experimentally. "Nothing's broken, and it's more like a few bruises. It'll pass!"
[22:03] <Janson> "Want to try following the trail they left or just keep on our way?" Janson asks once everyone seems recovered.
[22:03] <Aaeru> "We could do that," Aaeru agrees. "It's just another detour."
[22:04] * Wayland nods. "We may as well, but lets be careful. If there are more, we may not want to engage them after that fight."
[22:04] <Merc> Andrea sighs, not surprised in the least by Aaeru's decision regarding the nectar. "Oh, fine..." she mutters, before turning to Janson's query. "I don't know. I don't want to face more angry elementals, and we don't have a lot of healing nectar if we find more of them."
[22:05] <Aaeru> "If there really are more of them after us, we should try to discover the reason for it, negotiate with someone higher up... and if all else fails, striking on our own terms rather than suffering a nightly ambush suits me more."
[22:06] <Wayland> "Yes, I agree completely. I'd rather not get pounded on like that again."
[22:07] <Merc> "Well, I hope if we do find more of them, that they're more agreeable to chatting. This lot certainly didn't..."
