[19:07] <Janson> "Hey, looks like there's something funny with the ground over there," Janson turns to regard it properly and points out a spot of rippling earth thirty feet away for the benefit of the others as he checks for magic.

[19:10] * Wayland looks a little more carefully. "Huh. That's strange."
[19:10] <Janson> "It's not magic, could be a really big mole or something," Janson muses, standing up in case it starts burrowing towards their campsite and causes a sinkhole or something.
[19:11] <Blondezilla> As you watch, the ground parts! From this rippling ground it emerges - ten feet of solid stone in a vaguely humanoid body! It has eyes of brown fieldstone, fists big enough to crush a skull with barely a grasp! It takes a step forward and then another, and in a deep voice, "I thought," It rumbles in Common, "I smelt Air nearby."
[19:12] <Janson> "Uh... yeah," Janson looks up at the sky above them. "Lots of it around," he nods stupidly, not having much else to reply with to that.
[19:13] <Wayland> "Uhhh..." Wyland stares at the overlarge earth man.
[19:13] <Blondezilla> Simmer takes a step back, "Well yes, there is air," she murmurs, "Fire too!"
[19:15] <Blondezilla> The creature's gaze locks onto Wayland, "Know this...these mountains are the realm of Earth."
[19:16] <Wayland> "Hey, we're not here to cause any trouble. Just out hunting lizards."
[19:16] <Janson> "And roc feathers!" Janson adds brightly, "You know, rocs? Big massive birds that fly in the air above the mountains?"
[19:22] <Blondezilla> "Lizards..." It gives Wayland a long look again, then Janson in turn. "Headhunters?"
[19:23] <Janson> "Feathers," Janson clarifies patiently.
[19:26] <Wayland> "Yeah."
[19:28] <Blondezilla> The large elemental gives Wayland another long look, before it sinks back into the ground. Simmer exhales after that, "Someone's in a pissy mood today. It's not like we went and blew air in his face."
[19:30] <Janson> "Compared to the little elementals that attacked us when the ley lines were running wild I'd say we got off easy," Janson shrugs, considering the  matter closed and going back to his mushroom soup.
[19:32] * Wayland nods.
[19:32] <Wayland> "It's not like we're here to knock the mountain over or something."

[19:44] <Blondezilla> The next couple of day sof travel are without incident. Soon enough you find yourself before the sinkhole crevasse that leads to where Gweonryn hid, Simmer taking a moment to sniff the air. "So," she says, "There's some door you didn't check here a few months ago you want to look in on?"
[19:46] <Janson> "Yeah, it was mysterious but we didn't really want to stick around and explore before Wayland started to smell," Janson explains cheerily. "Watch out for shocker lizards, and the rock's a little slippery when you climb down."
[19:46] <Wayland> "Yeah. It had some strange runes on it, and we weren't sure what it was for."
[19:47] <Wayland> "Oh yes, I was dead at the time. Otherwise, we probably would have checked it out."
[19:47] <Blondezilla> "Charming," Simmer drawls, "Lead the way on? If we see any shocker lizards, we can deal with them and collect heads, say?"
[19:48] <Janson> "I was thinking just to chuck the whole corpse in the back of holding. Less messy than decapitating unless we get so many that space is an issue," Janson suggests as he climbs down and goes along the same path towards the door as he remembers before.
[19:50] <Wayland> "It'll save us time, too. More time means more lizards." Wayland nods. "Hopefully."
[19:51] <Blondezilla> The party proceeds on and down. You pass through the opening room and the crawlspaces, comign to the slope down. Ahead you can see the bands of purple and black, the quartz vein that runs through ahead. Yet as you approach, you can see the purple talking on a lighter blue tint, occasionally seeming to crackle with eletricity.
[19:53] <Janson> "Yeah there's bound to be little shits around here," Janson muses, taking out his two scrolls and handing one to Simmer. "If you see more than a couple of them read off that scroll to protect yourself from electricity," he suggests. "Getting shocked by a handful of them isn't funny."
[19:55] <Blondezilla> "Got it," Simmer says, "I'll just endure it and burn them all to death!" She whistles at that, "Not so much that they can't be identified, unfortnately."
[19:56] <Wayland> "They're tricky and devious." Wayland nods.
[19:56] <Janson> "So long as some scales are blue they should pass," Janson grins, advancing at a more cautious pace now so he doesn't blunder into a pack of them.

[20:15] <Blondezilla> "Oh no. Oh NO." Simmer stamps her foot and stares at them, "They are NOT better than me at elements! Oh, I'll show them what it means to BURN something!"
[20:16] <Wayland> Swallowing a bit of fear, Wayland rushes forward, charging the nearest lizard not asleep!

[20:30] <Janson> "Erk," Janson glances up, "Screw it, they'll suffocate," he opens up the bag, "Just dump them in, gently. I think more might be coming soon."
[20:30] <Blondezilla> There's a shocker lizard right above you on the roof, just starting to fall, as if to land right on your head!
[20:31] * Janson scrambles back to try and dodge!
[20:37] * Wayland leaps back, lashing out with a vicous kick at the lizard as he does so!

[20:40] <Janson> "Phew! Good catch, Wayland," Janson nods approvingly, going to toss that broken one into the bag before he starts more carefully placing the sleeping ones inside.
[20:41] <Wayland> "Thanks. Did someone mention a healing nectar, or was that just the buzzing in my head?"
[20:43] <Blondezilla> "Hi!" SImmer comes up, offering a pair of them.
[20:44] <Wayland> "Oh, hello." Wayland takes them both, quaffing them in rapid succession.
[20:44] <Blondezilla> OOC: Roll your HP recovery. 1d8+1 for each.

[20:45] * Janson seals up the bag once all the lizards are inside, slinging it over his shoulder once more. "There, they shouldn't ever wake up. Hopefully we won't run into any big clusters like that again. You guys good to keep going?"
[20:47] <Blondezilla> Wayland's wounds partiallymend, leaving him only in serious pain instead of near-fatal agony. Simmer gives him a look over, "Got any of your own? I was hoping to keep a few of my own as emergency potions."
[20:50] <Wayland> "No, I was overconfident and didn't think I'd need them. We fought these things before, and they've never been able to touch me."
[20:52] <Janson> "Didn't Josa tell everyone to take three?" Janson boggles. "Urgh... here, have one of mine," he fishes out one from his pack and hands it over. "There's a lot more than shocker lizards in the world that can hurt you. What if we get sent to hell or something like that again? Did you at least bring water this time?"
[20:53] <Wayland> "Yes, I did."
[20:53] <Blondezilla> "Yeah, he had that note onthe closet door and everything," Simmer shakes her head, "Well, just be careful."
[20:55] <Janson> Likewise shaking his head, Janson continues through the caves towards where they left the door of mystery last time.
[21:00] * Wayland drinks the nectar he was given a little guiltily.

[21:05] <Blondezilla> Wayland feels yet better, despite his guilt. You reach the runed door without incident this time, thankfully.
[21:06] <Blondezilla> Here is a dead end, but a door has been build out of the stone wall. It's made of stone, a few runes carved into it.
[21:07] * Janson tries just opening it on the off chance it's been unlocked since they were here last.
[21:08] <Blondezilla> No such luck - it's still locked.
[21:09] <Janson> In that case Janson gets out his tools! "This could take a few," he warns before setting himself to work on unlocking it...

[21:11] <Blondezilla> It takes a few minutes, but finally Janson is able to finesse the lock open!
[21:12] <Janson> "There we go!" Janson grins and puts away his lockpicks. "Lets see what adventure awaits us, shall we?" he proceeds to open up the door and reveal its secrets!
[21:14] <Wayland> "Sounds good." WAyland nods.
[21:19] <Blondezilla> Within is a moderately large room, perhaps 25 by 25 feet. It looks to be a room once inhabited. A cold hearth, an old bed, a stonecarved dresser, that mannero f thing. There's a thick layer of dust over everything.
[21:20] <Wayland> "It's a home? Here?" Wayland wonders.
[21:21] <Blondezilla> "A dwarf, maybe?" Simmer akss back, "Or a hermit?"
[21:22] <Blondezilla> After that she starts to look around, "I've never seen a room liket his that wasn't all fiery. I think I like it more with fire, though this is certainly different."
[21:22] <Janson> "Hmm, I expected more," Janson opines. "Looks abandoned for a long time, though, so I guess it doesn't hurt to look around." So he does just that.

[21:26] <Blondezilla> In the drawers you find a sack full of old silver coins - a few of old Malmuthian make, but mostly of a type unknown to you. There are several barrels of salt in one corner. Oh a shelf you find some purple rock quartz and what looks to be a bottle of wine of some sort.
[21:27] * Janson decides to just bag up the valuables into his backpack - not the bag of holding in case those lizards haven't expired yet. "I'm kinda disappointed, really," he confesses. "I guess nothing else to do but go back to climbing up the mountains looking for feathers and lizards?"
[21:29] * Wayland digs around in the barrels a bit, looking for hidden things, because that's where he'd put them!
[21:35] <Blondezilla> The barrels are full of salt - nothing hidden in them as far as Wayland can find.
[21:36] <Janson> Having bagged up all the good stuff, Janson starts heading back out of the crevasse.
[21:37] <Wayland> "Bah. Why salt?" Wayland asks, walking along.
[21:37] <Blondezilla> "Maybe someone likes salt?" Simmer shrugs, "I have no idea."
[21:38] <Janson> "You can use it to preserve food," Janson adds. "Useful for a hermit who doesn't go hunting or shopping much."

[21:53] <Blondezilla> Awhile before noon, Janson leads the party to a tall peak - at least a good thousand feet up. From the signs and what he knows, there may very well be a roc nest atop it!
[21:55] <Janson> "See that? I bet there's a roc nest up there," Janson points up to that peak. "Of course if we just climb right up to the nest then we'll probably get eaten, but we're bound to find feathers around the slopes, so we should get looking in this area and we'll hopefully get lucky."
[21:55] * Wayland nods, looking around.
[21:57] <Janson> "Lets spread out a bit, more likely to see something that way. But stay close enough to see each other if any trouble comes up," Janson then suggests as they ascend the slopes and start hunting.

[19:24] <Kotono> You spend a few hours searching the mountain's slopes. It's tiring work but feathers are found aplenty! You find 23 of them, each one long and golden. Simmer picks up the 23rd, whistling, "Each one of these is worth how much?" she asks aloud. 
[19:26] <Janson> "Twenty gold, so that's four hundred and sixty. Not bad for a few days work, but I think I got spoiled on my last job... Purinn must be pissing out gold," Janson chuckles. "I'll want to keep one for myself, mind you. Anyway, I think we've picked the place clean, so want to start heading back while it's still light?"
[19:28] <Wayland> "Good idea." Wayland nods. "I'd rather not have to camp in the mountains if we can help it. Not on the cliffs at least."
[19:28] <Kotono> As Janson speaks, a shadow falls over the party! It lingers for several seconds, before sunlight returns.
[19:29] * Janson looks up!
[19:32] <Kotono> Above the party is flies in circles, coming back around to block out the sun again! It is a bird, a bird of golden feathers. It is so much bigger than a typical bird it is as you are to the mountain here! It flies lazily, looking down at the trio!
[19:32] <Wayland> "Perhaps we should go." Wayland says carefully.
[19:33] <Janson> "I think it's just curious... but no reason to tempt fate," Janson agrees. "Walk casually, don't spook it," he then suggests, starting back down the mountainside with occasional wary glances upwards.
[19:33] <Kotono> Simmer stares up, eyes wide, "That's...definintely a roc!" Adding into the redundancy department, "A big roc! I've never seen one before, but it's...um, big!"
[19:36] <Kotono> The party begins to head down! The roc continues to circle above you for a few minutes, before beginning to descend towards the three of you! It's in no hurry - at this speed it'll take a minute or two for it to reach you.
[19:37] <Wayland> "Err." Wayland says, watching the roc. "I don't know much about these things. Are they just animals, or are they intelligent?"
[19:38] * Janson stops as is only polite. "Animals are intelligent," he adds to Wayland defensively. "I'll talk to it. It's not swooping for a meal, it's probably just curious."

[19:55] <Kotono> The roc circles down and down! At last it lands before the trio, taller than them by several times over! It at last speaks then - strange words that seemt o flow like th ewind. Wayland can't understand them, but they're very pleasing to his ears.
[19:56] * Janson blinks, rather thrown that his instinctive gift for understanding animals has failed him. "Er... this is awkward. Normally I can talk to animals as easily as talking to you guys, but that went right over my head," he confesses.
[19:58] <Wayland> "I can't understand it, but it sounds nice." Wayland nods.
[20:00] <Kotono> Again the roc speaks in those strange, airy words! After that and your babblings in Common, it slowly speaksin the same, "You are...hunting my feathers. Why?"
[20:02] <Janson> "They're very nice feathers," Janson replies with a big smile, pleased that communication is possible after all. "Many people where we come from would be happy to have one brighten up their home. It's done only with the greatest respect."

[20:07] <Kotono> "We're just doing that," Simmer steps forward, "Nothing more."
[20:11] <Kotono> The roc spreads it's wings wide, "There are horrid pests in this mountain - not around my nest, but everywhere beyond. Beware the shocker lizards." It alights back into the air, ascending up.
[20:12] <Janson> "Thank you!" Janson calls, waving up as he's almost blown back by the downdraft. "Told you it wasn't going to eat us," he tells the other two, happy to resume the journey North now.
[20:21] <Kotono> Simmer exhales, watching him fly away, "I've never seen a bird that big before," she watches on, "Never. It's magnificent!"
[20:23] * Janson nods. "We're lucky to have seen it, never mind conversed with it," he smiles happily.
[20:23] <Kotono> "Yes!" Simmer says brightly, "But Wayland, you said you liked it's words?"
[20:25] <Wayland> "Yeah...it was weird. It sounded like wind, almost. I wonder what language that was." Wayland says, picking his way through the rocks and brush.
[20:25] <Janson> "It talked like a person, not an animal... it's not something I know of," Janson admits with a shrug.
[20:27] <Kotono> Simmer utters a few words, as if her mouth was a crackling fire. "That's Ignan, the language of fire. I think Air has a langauge, too."
[20:29] <Wayland> "I'll have to find out when we get back." Wayland says. "All in all, this hasn't been bad. How many lizards did we get? Eight?"
[20:30] <Kotono> "Eight," Simmer confirms, "Assuming we don't run into any on the way back home."
[20:30] <Janson> "Yeah. Probably run into more on our way back I figure - there's been uncommonly few considering the reputation of these mountains," Janson muses.
[20:31] <Wayland> "I was actually thinking the same thing. I'm surprised we haven't seen more. Maybe there are others out hunting them as well."

[20:37] <Kotono> The party continues on. Making camp is simple enough, sleep and watches coming. Simmer takes third watch again...and as the other two sleep, "WAKE UP! NOW!" Simmer's voice pierces the reverie of slumber!
[20:38] <Janson> "Gah!" Janson sits bolt upright, looking around in a wild panic!
[20:40] * Wayland springs into the air, spinning wildly before regaining his feet...just. He blinks rapidly. "What!?"
[20:43] <Kotono> To the west...the rocky ground...blue. Great fields of electric blue. Crackling in the darkness ahead, lizards. At least a good dozen, starting at 20 feet away. Simmer's stepping back, "We have a problem!"
[20:44] <Janson> "Eeek! Run!" Janson yells, scared out of his mind to have a horde of deadly shocker lizards actually *within* shocking range, scrambling from his bedroll and running in the opposite direction without even thinking about it!
[20:49] <Wayland> "Not good!" Wayland says, grabbing Simmer and heading directly east with haste! "Quick! Janson! Sleep spells! Blow them up!"
[20:52] <Kotono> Running! Running in a half asleep panic, leaving bedrolls and campfire behind! You run and run....the lizards don't seem to be following...? You think, glancing back as your feet carry you away in fearful retreat!
[20:53] * Janson turns back from about two hundred feet, looking back. "What... what are they doing?" he furrows his brow. "How'd they get so close? Why didn't they kill us?"
[20:55] <Wayland> "Uhhh...I don't know?" Wayland says, setting Simmer down. "I think I'll circle back and try to get behind them, see what has them so interested."
[20:57] <Janson> "Well, all our stuff is back there, so we can't leave it. Um, we can try getting a little closer and send as many as we can to sleep, Simmer? That still won't get them all but we might be able to handle the rest," Janson suggests.
[20:59] <Wayland> So said, Wayland starts to circle around the camp, hoping to come up behind the group of lizards.

[19:53] <Kotono> "Lead the way," Simmer agrees, as Wayland starts to circle around!
[19:55] <Janson> "That man has no fear of death," Janson mutters as Wayland runs off into the teeth of the shocker lizards. "Anyway, lets try and sneak up to within forty feet? If we keep low we can use the cover to stay hidden from them and then hit them with our sleep magic without being seen," he suggests to Simmer, starting to carefully backtrack towards the glow of their campfire and the flickering blue electric lizards.

[20:01] <Janson> Hunched down low behind some rocks near their campsite, Janson peers over and tries to get a proper count of the lizards now that he's no longer half-asleep and scared out of his mind...

[20:02] <Wayland> OOC: Moving to 100 ft...carefully.
[20:05] <Kotono> Janson counts! There are fourteen lizards total, all standing amid the campsite. They look about, crackling with electricity!  Meanwhile Wayland moves up to 100ft! Still no reaction from them!
[20:06] <Janson> "Fourteen. Lets try and get them to sleep on three, you go for the left and I go for the right?" Janson suggests. "That ought to get them to more managable numbers for us to deal with."

[20:08] <Kotono> "Right," Simmer nods, "Though...if that fails, let's burn them. They burn good, I bet."
[20:09] <Janson> "So long as it's burning from a distance. You saw what they did to Wayland," Janson warns, taking a deep breath. "One, two, three," he counts, invoking his magic on the last word to lull a handful of shocker lizards to slumber!

[20:39] <Kotono> Simmer checks each of them, "That could have been much worse," she agrees, "I've never been on the wrong end of an ambush like that. How's it usually go"
[20:39] <Wayland> "I wonder why they didn't chase us when we ran away."
[20:41] <Janson> "Maybe they prefer to ambush rather than hunt?" Janson suggests. "If they have to burn a lot of energy to catch us it defeats the point of eating."
[20:42] * Wayland shrugs. "It turned out well enough, I suppose."
[20:43] <Janson> "Anyway, if they could they'd kill us in our sleep, so good job keeping an eye out for us, Simmer," he grins at the dryad, getting back into his bedding after sealing the bag of holding with its new cargo. "Wake us if anything else shows up."
[20:43] <Kotono> "Going to go back to sleep," Simmer asks, sitting before the dying campfire.

Anyway, Josa wants one of the lizard corpses for himself, before you go off and get the bounties on all of them."
[20:51] <Janson> "Aww, you were waiting for us?" Janson beams at Silver, heart warmed by her devotion.
[20:52] <Wayland> "Your faith in our abilities is heartwarming." Wayland grinds out, glaring at her.
[20:53] <Kotono> "I was getting away from Josa," Silver crosses her arms, sticking her tongue out at Wayland, "Someone's in a bad mood. What's wrong, the wind and sky didn't put out last night?"
[20:54] <Janson> "Well I'm glad to see you anyway," Janson smiles happily. "Come on, lets go give Josa his lizard then we can get our bounties on feathers and lizards."
[20:57] * Wayland grumbles.
[21:01] <Kotono> Silver smirks and flies along as the party proceeds to Whimiscal Sweets! You find Josa there, a long row of gingerbread houses about! Each one has candy people about, as if an entire block of sweetness is being displayed. Sylvie is dressed to the nines, in full regal gown and tiara. A good crowd of at least 20 people are here, looking at the houses and talking amid themselves and with Josa.
[21:02] * Janson waves to the two with a happy smile in particular for Sylvie being dressed up so, and hangs back a bit near the stairs to watch whatever performance they've cooked up.
[21:03] * Wayland blinks. "Ahh...what's going on?"
[21:05] <Kotono> Sylvie turns to them, a kindly smile, "Welcome to the Kingdom of Candy. Come, come," she comes forward, pushing the three ahead! As she does, in a low shiper, "Play along. Josa's trying to impress them."
[21:05] * Janson allows himself to be corralled into the procession. "Of course, my Queen," he responds snappily to the blonde, joining the crowd cheerfully.
[21:07] <Kotono> "Yes ma'am!" Simmer plays along, nodding quickly.

[21:14] <Kotono> You come along, Josa gesturing grandly! "Indeed, look at this street here," he gestures to one house, "It is candy as well as art! For 50 marks you ca possess both art and flavor!"
[21:16] <Janson> "It's art you can eat!" Janson pipes up eagerly to help motivate any prospective buyers. Nothing like seeing someone else wants something to covet it yourself.
[21:19] <Wayland> "Decorative and delicious? What a concept!" Wayland agrees.
[21:20] <Kotono> Simmer nods, "It's so stylish, and it's great for a snack! Oh, I want one!"

[21:26] <Janson> "You made out like a bandit, there," Janson nods happily. "As for us, we've got a bundle of roc feathers and shocker lizards. Silver said you wanted one of the lizards yourself, too."
[21:28] <Kotono> "Ah yes! Capital!" Josa nods, "I intend to see what brews can be made from it." Going on immediately, "For surely the innate magic of these creatures can be made into a delicious and beneficial candy."
[21:30] <Janson> "Meat candy?" Janson furrows his brow. "Also these have been in here for a while," he rattles the bag of holding. "Lets go upstairs and I'll give you one of the fresh ones? Can also stow my roc feather before we go cash everything in."
[21:31] <Wayland> "Sot sure how that candy will turn out, Josa. Electric candy?" Wayland muses.
[21:35] <Kotono> "It'll work out," Josa says agreeably as you go upstairs.
[21:37] <Janson> Up they go, Janson opens up the bag of holding and deposits one of the suffocated shocker lizards from the fourteen that attacked at night on the table, then pulls a long and wide roc feather from where they stick out of his backpack, putting it on top of the supply closet for later. "Okay, so we need to find a sahaugin on the docks, and where do we go for lizard bounties?"
[21:39] <Wayland> "I thought the sahaugin were the ones looking for the lizards."
[21:43] <Janson> "No, they want roc feathers," Janson corrects him.
[21:44] <Wayland> "Oh. Well, maybe it's on the job board." Wayland goes to check.
[21:45] <Wayland> "Looks like thay're offering the bounties for both." Wayland says.
[21:45] * Janson didn't read it that way but his question was for Josa who can hopefully clarify.
[21:53] <Kotono> "Highwatch Fortress for the lizards, the docks for the rocs," Sylvie says, almost sing-songing it with a smile. "So how were the feared shocker lizards?"
[21:53] <Wayland> "Fearsome." Wayland says.
[21:54] <Janson> "They're really damned sneaky, but Simmer and me were able to put a lot of them to sleep which made them less scary - that's why most of these corpses aren't even bruised. A bunch did manage to shock Wayland pretty good, though," Janson replies to his girlfriend. "We miss anything fun around here?"
[21:54] <Kotono> "Aaeru's been busy and Andrea's not back yet. I've been around here the last several days," she answers, Brushing up on my studies."
[21:56] * Janson nods and smiles, eyeing her in the royal getup for a pleasant moment longer before blinking, "Oh! Did you get our new clothes from that shop while I was away?" he asks since he never had a chance before going off on this job.
[21:57] <Kotono> "They're in my closet," Sylvie replies, "Drop by later for them."
[21:59] <Janson> "Great! We should go out tonight and celebrate another job done," Janson grins, hefting his bags and turning to Wayland and Simmer. "Lets go cash in our lizards and feathers, then? We can hit the fortress on our way to the docks I figure."
