[20:09] <Kotono> Silver Star Book is quiet today, and as you enter, "HEY DACOTE! WHIMSICAL SWEETS IS HERE AGAIN!" The young boy calls, looking up from his book. He looks over the duo, "IT'S A SAUSAGE PARTY THIS TIME, TOO!"
[20:12] <Whurric> "...Silver had a child?" Whurric asks quietly to Josa after a quiet snort.
[20:12] <Kotono> Josa huffs, "My word, the two men come and it's noteworthy? Whurric, truly so that we must recruit more of our gender, for such a monopoly is unbecoming of our stations. On reflection, it is true that the fairer sex has come to dominate our numbers-" A stop there, Josa grinning.
[20:13] <Kotono> It is not Dacote who comes forth. Instead it is his mother, sweeping out with a long look at the two. She glances at them, stopping at Whurric. Her eyes stare into his, as if held captive in his gaze.
[20:16] <Whurric> "Hello, ma'am," Whurric says politely, not really knowing much of her to extend the greeting further.
[20:22] <Kotono> "Oh!" She comes closer to Whurric, peering at him, "It's true!"
[20:23] <Whurric> "Uh, what is?" Whurric asks with a curious expression, giving a short glance towards Josa wondering if he knows what's interested this woman.
[20:25] <Kotono> Josa shrugs in return. Meanwhile Elestra Moongal stares into Whurric, "So beautiful..." she murmurs, a hand reaching out to caress his arm, "How did it feel?"
[20:29] <Whurric> "Uh, thanks for the compliment?" Whurric replies in an unsure tone. "And how did what feel?"
[20:30] <Kotono> Ms. Moongal leans forward, whispering to Whurric, "Death. It's the final release and revelation; what did it show you?"
[20:31] <Kotono> Josa watches with a raised eyebrow, "Now see here, Miss. If I may so interject, such questions are unbecoming of a lady of your station! We are here on dutiful business, such an interrogation of personal affairs is a breech of etiquette!"
[20:34] <Kotono> Elestra Moongal looks to Josa momentarily, a look of disinterest. Back to Whurric after, hanging on his every word and waiting!
[20:35] * Whurric scratches the back of his head. "I don't mind answering that much, I guess...though I don't think it's quite as exciting as you think, ma'am. Death...it's just one last burst of pain and then a feeling of peace and belonging after a while. It's kind of muddy, so can't really tell you much more than that."
[20:41] <Kotono> "Do you remember the Well?" she whispers back, coming closer. She peers into his eyes, almost face to face. "They've talked about it so much. What about the Order of the Mist?"
[20:44] <Whurric> "Only the vaguest recollections of the first, and none at all of any order..." Whurric answers before clearing his throat. "I'm sorry, but uh, where is mister Anband?"
[20:45] <Kotono> "Dacote's being a good boy and fetching me something," Lady Moongal replies, and in a soft whisper to him, "They're watching you." With those words she turns and marches on back, leaving the two behind.
[20:49] <Whurric> "...what was that all about, Josa?" Whurric asks, confused. After a few seconds, he adds a frown and adds, "And if my previous death is that noticeable, is there something I can do about it? It probably can't be very encouragin' to be hired as a bodyguard if you know your guard has died before..."
[20:54] <Kotono> "I confess I have no idea, though Wayland did mention that Lady Moongal was rather eccentric, not to mention the stories I've heard of her." Frowning as he ponders, "A strange occurance, yet I wonder if it is so evident or if Lady Moongal sees with greater perception than we are blessed with?"
[20:58] * Whurric shrugs. "Who knows? Still, that was a bit odd, all things considered."
[20:59] <Kotono> As you ponder the door opens again. Dacote Anband comes in, carrying a bag with him. "Oh, Whimsical Sweets! Sorry, you weren't waiting long, were you? I had to run out for a few minutes."
[21:02] <Whurric> "Not that long at all. Dacote Anband, I presume?" Whurric asks.
[21:05] <Kotono> "Yes," He offers a hand out to Whurric, "You two are here about my request?"
[21:08] <Whurric> "That is the case indeed. I'm Whurric Bofjyr," Whurric answers as he shakes the hand.
[21:16] <Kotono> "Dacote Anband," His grip is good and strong, "I already know Josa, so let's get down to it. He shooes off the watching young man and takes his seat. "I need an escort. You two can handle yourselves?"
[21:20] * Whurric nods. "Of course. I am curious though, are you expecting to deal with anything more serious than maybe some bandits or what? And where are we escorting you to?"
[21:22] <Kotono> "Out in the Western Reaches," He answers without even cracking the slightest smile. Instead he sighs, "A wizard lives there, one I must meet with. The problem is that that he is reclusive and he hates me. His idea of a meeting is finding himside his fortified compound."
[21:25] <Whurric> "...huh. That's certainly a bit more odd than what I'd expected."
[21:26] <Kotono> "Wizards tend to be odd," Dacote sighs, as Josa nods with him. The fat elf replies, "Indeed, many a wizards has been drawn eccentric by the studies of vast things beyond our comprehension. What is the mind ofa  man who has touched the face of Creation? What are his motives when all he desires can be granted by his magic, and yet there is far more beyond this realm?"
[21:26] <Kotono> "That's a fancy way of saying that stability isn't on a wizard's list of virtues," Dacote sighs again, running a hand through his hair.
[21:30] <Whurric> "They're not that bad," Whurric says, feeling a need to defend his brother if nothing else.
[21:38] <Kotono> "Anyway, I plan to go tomorrow," Dacote says, "Is that enough time for you to prepare?"
[21:43] <Whurric> "It should be?" Whurric says, glancing over to Josa for confirmation. "Anything you feel we should know about this wizard that might help prepare? Magic he prefers to use, for example, or something of that sort?"
[21:55] <Kotono> "Summoned creatures," Dacote says, "Be ready to fight some. Be well protected."
[21:59] * Whurric nods again.
[21:59] <Kotono> "Understood," Josa says, "They are not so hard to deal with once one is prepared."
[22:00] <Kotono> "Be here around mid-morning tomorrow," Dacote says, "If you have any more questions...?"
[22:01] <Whurric> "Not I. I presume the two of you have already agreed on payment and all that, right?" Whurric asks, getting ready to leave.
[22:05] <Kotono> "Yes,' Josa says, "It's all taken care of."
[22:15] <Kotono> ---
[22:16] <Kotono> The next morning the two head over to Silver Star books. As you walk, "Are you prepared," Josa asks, "I sincerely doubt that our danger will approach the mortal peril that Senaril's schemes engendered, but it would not due to court a potential accident through neglect."
[22:18] <Whurric> "I grabbed some healing potions from the closet, hopefully we won't need them though. And you?" Whurric asks.
[22:20] <Kotono> "I havemade the proper preparations," Josa says, coming along, "Hopefully this wizard's bark is worse than his bite."
[22:21] * Whurric nods his agreement.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[20:22] <Kotono> Thereafter the duo heads back to Dacote's shop. Dacote is awaiting, "Are both of you ready?" he asks, locking the door behind him.
[20:22] <Kotono> "I am," Josa nods, "Let us overcome this instance and cover ourselves in glorious triumph!"
[20:24] <Whurric> "Aye, let's go meet your wizard," Whurric agrees.
[20:31] <Kotono> You begin to walk towards the west, outside of the western city gates. Once out in the open the pace becomes a little more leisurely. "I'm not much of a fighter myself," Dacote speaks up, "I can protect myself, so make sure the two of you deal with any aggressors."
[20:35] <Kotono> "It is easily done. Whurric has no match with his axe and my Candymancy shall lay any low!" Josa declares, holding his fist up.
[20:36] <Whurric> "Definitely not met anything I can't cut down so far," Whurric agrees with a grin. "Don't worry, you'll get your money's worth from hiring us."
[20:39] <Kotono> "Good," Dacote replies, and then to Whurric, "Mother mentioned you. Please excuse her, she's a little...eccentric."
[20:41] * Whurric raises an eyebrow. "Ah, that's your mother? She was...an interesting person to meet, yes."
[20:44] <Whurric> "Do you know why she's so interested in well...death?"
[20:46] <Kotono> "I'm afraid not. You're not the first person she's been interested in. Another employee of Whimsical Sweets had her fancy, and his death left her distraught. I don't understand it at all," Dacote sighs, "It's so terribly strange."
[20:48] <Whurric> "Hrm, well, I don't suppose it was that much of a bother, though I imagine she'll be rather interested in Yuria as well if she ever meets her, don't you think, Josa?"
[20:51] <Kotono> Josa shrugs, "Wayland hadn't died yet when they met, I think. So I don't really know. She's a strange woman seeing stranger things yet, I believe. That or perhaps she is a loon." After that Josa quickly holds his hands, "No offense, sir."
[20:51] <Kotono> "It's fine," Dacote says, "I'm wondering if I should put her out in a country home where she can obsess over whatever she wants. She's so, so...strange lately."
[20:55] * Whurric just shrugs, not really sure what he could say. "What's this wizard's name again, by the way?" he asks, trying to change the subject back to work.
[20:59] <Kotono> "Misik," Dacote says, leading the way on.
[21:12] <Kotono> Soon you reach a secluded country manor home. Nothing unusual in the Western Reaches. It has no yard, the trio able to walk right up to the front door. Dacote glances at the door, "Once we open that, we're going to reach the fortified part of fortified compound. Take point, Whurric."
[21:18] * Whurric nods once more as he observes the building from outside first. "Want to try diplomacy one more time, or want a nice loud entrance to let him know we're here?"
[21:23] <Kotono> "Make some noise," Dacote grins, "GEt his attention that way."
[21:24] <Whurric> "You're the boss," Whurric says with a small saluting gesture as he grabs his axe and steps in with a fast and hard swing towards the door.
[21:24] <Kotono> OOC: Roll damage real quick?
[21:29] <Whurric> roll d12+8 Kobot saves the day!
[21:29] <Kobot> Whurric rolled d12+8 Kobot saves the day! --> [ 1d12=9 ]{17}
[21:33] <Kotono> With a heavy axe-cut, the front door is cleaved in two! Ahead of you looks to be a small coat-room, with a door leading further in past that.
[21:36] * Whurric quickly steps into the room, looking for any immediate reaction as he surveys the room. "Which way, Anband?"
[21:38] <Kotono> As you step forward and into the room, the door ahead shatters into a thousand splinters, as if broken! OOC: Reflex save, Whurric.
[21:38] <Whurric> roll d20+7
[21:38] <Kobot> Whurric rolled d20+7 --> [ 1d20=7 ]{14}
[21:42] <Kotono> roll 2d6 full
[21:42] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 full and gets 5." [2d6=1, 4]
[21:42] <Kotono> Wooden splinters open up a few nicks over Whurric's body as he stands firm! Coming through the burst door is a man sized thing of pure earth and stone, giant stony fists coming up to clobber Whurric! OOC: Init here, things just went south.
[21:42] <Whurric> roll d20+5
[21:42] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1 Elemental
[21:42] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+5 and gets 19." [d20=14]
[21:42] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 Elemental and gets 13." [1d20=14]
[21:43] <Kotono> OOC: +3 for Josa, remember.
[21:43] <Kotono> roll 1d20+3 Josa
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+3 Josa and gets 4." [1d20=1]
[21:43] <Kotono> roll 1d20+5 Dacote
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+5 Dacote and gets 16." [1d20=11]
[21:43] * Kotono changes topic to 'Whurric(22)>Dacote(16)>Elemental(13)>Josa(4)'
[21:44] <Kotono> OOC: Ya have an elemental in your face and you go first, Whurric. May want to remedy that.
[21:45] <Whurric> ooc: how close exactly is it? literally in my face, or in need of charging?
[21:47] <Kotono> OOC: In your face.
[21:51] * Whurric grunts as he stares up at the stone creature. "Well, the welcoming committee certainly wasn't unprepared," he says before raising his axe. "Let's cut you down to size!" he yells as he swings his axe in a frenzy, not at all intimidated by the elemental. (ooc: whirling frenzy)
[21:51] <Whurric> roll d20+15 atk 1
[21:51] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+15 atk 1 and gets 22." [d20=7]
[21:51] <Whurric> roll d20+15 atk 2
[21:51] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+15 atk 2 and gets 28." [d20=13]
[21:51] <Whurric> roll d20+10 atk 3
[21:51] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+10 atk 3 and gets 15." [d20=5]
[21:53] <Kotono> OOC: 2 hits.
[21:53] <Whurric> roll 2d12+22
[21:53] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls 2d12+22 and gets 34." [2d12=8, 4]
[21:59] <Kotono> With a flurry of axe work Whurric cleaves the elemental in twain! It falls into two pieces, fading away to whence it came! OOC FRee act. Ow.
[22:00] <Whurric> "...okay, that was perhaps a bit easier than I had expected after seeing it barrel in like that," Whurric says as he hesitantly lowers his axe.
[22:00] <Whurric> "Hopefully the rest of the defenses are like that, minus the splinters in the face anyhow!"
[22:20] <Kotono> Josa steps forward, kicking some of the remnants away, "That was easy enough," he observes, as Dacote shakes his head, "Hopefully, but I doubt that's all the old boy has."
[22:24] <Whurric> "One could always hope," Whurric says with a shrug. "Anyway, as I was saying before that little interruption...which way? Go the way that thing came from?"
[22:26] <Kotono> "Yes," Dacote says, "Onward. The entrance hall is ahead. Keep your eyes open."
[22:27] * Whurric nods and keeps on moving ahead, keeping an eye and ear out for trouble and hopefully more warning if something decides to make another appearance.
[22:29] <Kotono> OOC: Make spot?
[22:31] <Whurric> roll d20+2
[22:31] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+2 and gets 16." [d20=14]
[22:34] <Kotono> As you walk in you find a pleasant, well lit entry hall. The roof rises up, chandaliers overhead. There'sd oors straight ahead, leading further in. As you walk...abruptly there is a groan above! A chandalier shudders, it's supports snapping and plummeting down - right above Whurric! OOC: Reflex save.
[22:36] <Whurric> roll d20+7
[22:36] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+7 and gets 22." [d20=15]
[22:42] <Kotono> But Whurric is fast enough to dive out of the way, avoiding the massive crash of glass and crystal! Josa looks up cautiously and leaps back, "Your friend is not merely fiddling around, is he?"
[22:44] <Whurric> "He's certainly keepin' me on my toes," Whurric says with a grunt as he stands back up, dusting himself and looking at the fallen chandelier behind him. "I'll grant him that."
[22:45] <Whurric> "Remind me to knock over any suits of armor we see on the way, I can already imagine what he'll have done with those," he adds as he gets ready to move on again.
[22:46] <Kotono> Ironically enough, the door ahead has two suits of armor, one besides each side of the door. Dacote doesn't quite snicker or groan, but somehow both seem close. "Speaking of the devil."
[22:48] * Whurric shakes his head. "Shoulda known. You want to take care of this, Josa? Flex those magical powers of yours?" he asks with a grin. "Or rather keep 'em in reserve for now?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[19:54] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "That I shall," Josa steps forward, intoning strange words as bands o fmagic shimmer around the two statues!
[19:54] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> roll 1d20+8
[19:54] * Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 1d20+8 and gets 20." [1d20=12]
[19:54] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> The sets of armor shimmer as blue radiance around them flares up, only to shatter into a thousand fragments of light! With a triumphant smirk, "Ah, the great elven magics have triumphed once more! Prithee, advance ahead as the way is clear of perilious armor!"
[19:53] * Whurric gives a short laugh and cheers as he raises his axe. "Onward then!" he declares as he moves past the shattered armor.
[19:58] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> On the trio goes, through the door! Ahead of you lies another hall, full of scuptures, paintings, tapestries and other works of art. Dacote glances ahead, "Uh oh," he observes, "Someone isn't being subtle."
[20:01] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Truly so," Josa observes, "Whurric, I would counsel that your axe shoudl be at the ready."
[20:02] <Whurric> "No, no he isn't," Whurric says as he pauses to observe them all. "Probably won't help with talking to this fellow if we destroy all his property too...I will, though can you see if you detect magic on any of these items? Those are likely the trapped ones to watch out for."
[20:04] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Josa murmurs a few words, invoking his magic!
[20:04] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> roll 1d20+8
[20:04] * Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 1d20+8 and gets 25." [1d20=17]
[20:05] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Hmph, he has taken some care in obscuring the dweomers in this room," Josa says, "But it is not good enough. I see...ah!" Pointing ahead to a pair of statues, "Those two are ensorcelled, but the others are not." The statues are of broad shouldered, nude men, all muscles.
[20:09] <Whurric> "Well, I imagine he won't miss them much then," Whurric says as he approaches cautiously the closest of the statues, ready to swing his axe and shatter it once he's close enough. He does keep his ears peeled for any traps springing that Josa might miss on his way though.
[20:09] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Smash them," Dacote decides after a moment's ruminations, "He's not being polite, so no need for us to be."
[20:10] <Whurric> roll d20+13 listen
[20:10] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+13 listen and gets 26." [d20=13]
[20:11] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Whurric comes closer! Near the statues he hears a subtle click to his left!
[20:13] * Whurric quickly steps back again at the sound of the click, swiveling his body to interpose his axe's head towards the left, covering his body slightly as he tries to step back towards the other two.
[20:14] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> roll 1d20+7 AC?
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 1d20+7 AC? and gets 24." [1d20=17]
[20:14] <Whurric> ooc: 22
[20:17] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> roll 1d4+1 and fort.
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 1d4+1 and fort. and gets 5." [1d4=4]
[20:17] <Whurric> roll d20+13
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+13 and gets 29." [d20=16]
[20:18] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> A small needle flies, ending up in Whurric's neck! His vision swims, a terrible langour coming over him!It's like he's falling into a bleak, black abyss of sleep...but doesn't quite go over! He staggers and stumbles about, but clings to awareness!
[20:25] * Whurric pulls the little needle out, flicking it towards a corner of the wall, and shakes his head. "This man -really- wants his privacy, doesn't he?" he asks shakily as he takes a moment to fully recover and make sure he doesn't fall unconscious.
[20:26] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> OOC: Make a con check.
[20:27] <Whurric> roll d20+3
[20:27] * Hatbot --> "Whurric rolls d20+3 and gets 5." [d20=2]
[20:28] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Whurric feels groggy and dizzy, but mostly together. His body is just a bit slow to reply. OOC: -2 penalty to dexterity. This isn't ability damage, but like what Ray of Enfeeblement does.
[20:30] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Josa cautiously approaches, "Hold," he murmurs, "This magician is proving to be most vexing, for he assails us without any sense of honor or gracious, exquisite propriety, as such tactics are beyond the pale of anything but the utmost degenerate, who cannot even extend fair and blessed hospitality to those who seek to partake it; nay, I am disgusted at this and we must resolve to smash
[20:30] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> through and properly chastise him on his failings as righteous avengers, to the point where the Gods above and below shall hear of it!"
[20:33] <Whurric> "Yeah, well we are breakin' into his home, so you have to give him points for that," Whurric jokes though he winces as he tries to grin. "Gimme a minute, that needle had something nasty in it, left me feelin' a bit out of it."
[20:37] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Dacote lingers as the feeling slowly fades from Whurric. It takes a few peaceful minutes for it to fade away. As you wait, "I wonder how far this will go. This is vexing enough already." OOC: Dex penalty is gone.
[20:40] <Whurric> "Okay, I think I'm good to go again," Whurric says as he gets ready to go forward again and take care of the two statues Josa had pointed out. "Let's get you your meeting with this wizard before he has time to set even more traps."
[20:40] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Agreed. By all your might, lay low these obsticles," Josa allows, gesturing.
[20:48] * Whurric nods as he swings his axe at the first of the two nude statues.
[20:49] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> With a single the statue crumbles apart, cleaved apart! It's not terribly resistant at all, oddly. Not like normal stone.
[20:51] * Whurric doesn't put much thought on that as he swings at the second statue, making sure it crumbles as well before letting the other two join him and moving on ahead some more.
[20:57] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Both statues are shattered! Whurric and Dacote follow to the next door! It opens, and before you...stands a man. White bearded and with his arms crossed, a decidedly sour look on his face. "Don't even think about using that axe," he says, his gaze on Whurric before Dacote, "Hello, you young bastard. You made your point."
[20:58] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Dacote grins at that, "Hello, you old bastard. Can we do this like civilized human beings for a change? Heard of Whimsical Sweets?" With a casual gesture at them, "This isn't much of anything for them."
[20:59] <Whurric> "I have no plans to do so except to defend our client, sir," Whurric says politely...well, as politely as a trespasser can be all things considered.
[21:03] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "I've heard of them," The wizard says slowly, "Fine. The hired muscle can wait outside, we'll go inside and talk."
[21:05] * Whurric glances towards Dacote to make sure that's fine with him before following that request.
[21:08] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Dacote nods, "Alright, old man," He says, glancing back, "Make yourselves comfortable."
[21:09] * Whurric steps outside with Josa, leaving Dacote to do his business.
[21:11] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Once outside Josa sits against the wall outside, looking up at the clouds, "Our fortune has been good," he reflects, "Little danger and a large reward, your neck notwithstanding."
[21:17] <Whurric> "Strange way of doing business though, I have to say," Whurric comments. "Who encourages people to break into their home to do business? Is that normal for human mages or something?"
[21:21] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Some mages are more eccentric than others," Josa confesses, "This one is high on the list. It's not well known, but the creator of the fire pits down there," Pointing downwards, "Is said to have been rather...unusual as well. Granted, such a descriptor may be automatic for such an endevour to be attempted."
[21:22] * Whurric shrugs. "Well, can't be worse than their mothers at least."
[21:24] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> At that Josa laughs, "How true! I confess I do not understand that woman at all." With a sudden look of amusement, "Perhaps her and Yuria will fight over you? Truly so, the two will resort to wrestling around in the mud to win your heart?"
[21:29] * Whurric makes a face from trying to imagine that. "I doubt it, that woman didn't particularly seem interested in that way over me. As for Yuria..." he trails off and shakes his head. "Well, that's between us, I suppose."
[21:32] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> Grinning at that, "Have some fire and passion! For all her failing of the intellect, she is quite the young woman in other matters. Ride the hurricane."
[21:37] * Whurric just gives Josa a flat look and shakes his head again. "I recall that same advice coming from Silver the other day, if in less words, albeit more crass ones," he notes.
[21:47] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> "Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day," To this Josa's smile does dim, "How often does a man find a beautiful woman throwing herself at him? 'tis a rare thing, so why begrudge your fortune?"
[21:52] * Whurric shrugs. "Well, we'll see where fate and fortune leads," he finally says, turning to look back towards the room where Dacote and the wizard are speaking, waiting to see if negotiations went well or not.
[22:07] <Infinite_Ko_Loop> About a half hour passes before Dacote meanders on out. He's whistling a merry tune, "Ah, we're done," he announces, "That was surprisingly painless. Once he heard I brought Whimsical Sweets, he started talking reason."
