His robe already has the +8 armor bonus so it slots in quite well. This is technically off slot, but robes are so associated with mages and it's a mage item, so I'll let it slide. 51155.92 gold left. He'll pay 50k for a ring of protection+10 and stop with his defenses nicely shored up. 1155.92 to keep.
