[13:08] <@Kotono>Finding someone to cast Sending takes Muirfinn a bit of time. In the library, he eventually finds an old man - an old wizard, by all reports. He wears a white robe and has a lined face showing many years indeed. His white beard is long, as he offers a hand out to you, "Elder Magi Tepen," He greets Muirfinn, "You seek to communicate with your home people?"
[13:34] <Muirfinn>"Muirfinn of the Shellscale. What's left of it anyway." Muirfinn greets in return. "I do. The elders sent me off to find some measure of the Aurora after we heard of it in Brightwater. I was hoping to give them the good news, and perhaps have them move here."
[13:35] <@Kotono>"More allies are always welcome," Tepen replies, "The tortle people of Lifasa, as I recall?"
[13:35] <Muirfinn>"Yes! You knew of us?"
[13:36] <@Kotono>"I'd heard of you," Elder Magi Tepen nods briefly, "In my position I heard much and read much lore."
[13:37] <Muirfinn>"Ah, yes. Sages. Well, it's good to finally be here with everyone. Much nicer than I was expecting, really."
[13:40] <@Kotono>"It's a blessing." The elder replies on that, and after a few moments, "So ah, where are your people now? Brightwater?"
[13:42] <Muirfinn>Muirfinn shakes his head. "No, we actually settled on a Prime we found while roaming. Lots of large, stupid, and hostile lizards, though they train well. I'm afraid that, if the plane has a name, we don't know it. We've yet to encounter intelligent life."
[13:43] <@Kotono>"Ah." Nodding to that, "I see. So when will you be in contact with them? We welcome all who came from Lifasa."
[13:45] <Muirfinn>At this, Muirfinn rubs the side of this scaly head and looks rther embarassed. "Well, that's the thing. I don't actually have powers of interplanar transportation myself. I've been hitching rides or taking portals wherever I can. I was wondering if someone here on the Aurora would have some way of contacting them."
[13:48] <@Kotono>"I can manage such," Elder Magi Tepen asserts, "Brief communications via sending, or greater magics that allow dimensional travel." Meanwhile as you talk, something comes up to Muirfinn. A wolf. A rather feral and savage wolf. It sits besides him, sniffing at the tortle.
[13:50] <Muirfinn>"That would be most appreciated, if you wouldn't mind." Muirfinn nods. He blinks and looks down at the wolf. "Oh, hello."
[13:52] <@Kotono>The wolf sniffs again before looking up at Muirfinn. No sign of hostility from it at all. "Worry not, the dire wolves are tamed and under the command of another. Now, which would you prefer?" Tepen asks, "A sending or dimensional travel."
[13:54] <Muirfinn>"Oh, I'm not worried. Animals tend to like me." Muirfinn's scaly beak curving up at the ends in a smile. "A sending would be sufficient, I think. We have our own arcanists that can get everyone here once they know where it is and that it's safe."
[13:56] <@Kotono>"Very well. What will the sending be, and to whom?"
[13:57] <Muirfinn>"Can they set up a gate to this plane?"
[13:59] <Muirfinn>"Wherever we are. I'm still not quite clear on that."
[14:01] <@Kotono>"Air. The Elemental Plane of Air." Tepen replies, "Who shall I send that to?"
[14:02] <Muirfinn>"Elder Kole of the Spiritwater. Please tell him that I am well, and have found the Aurora."
[14:03] <@Kotono>"It will be done," Elder Magi Tepen says, beginning ot cast. It takes some amount of time, but eventually he finishes - sitting down heavily when it is done, exhaling loud. The wolf is still there, "The message was sent and they are interested and willing."
[14:06] <Muirfinn>"Wonderful, but are you well?" Muirfin asks, concerned. "I've never seen a spell take it's toll on someone like that."
[14:08] <@Kotono>"There's no helping it," The Elder shakes his head, breathing slowly in and out, a steady rythym. "It is a curse I bear from the claws of a pit fiend. No easy, earthly remedy can abate it."
[14:10] * Muirfinn looks like he just ate something vile. "Even after they have taken so much from us, their actions still plague us so far removed from their influence."
[14:11] <@Kotono>As you talk, the wolf perks up and turns to look behind Muirfinn. Meanwhile Elder Magi Tepen nods, his face hardening  slightly - but visibly, his eyes narrowing. "They are relentless in their all consuming hunger and need."
[14:12] * Muirfinn sighs. "My apologies. Had I known you were ailing, I'd not have let you strain yourself for me."
[14:14] <@Kotono>The Elder shakes his head, as a woman's voice replies from behind, "It is only a weakness of the flesh, ultimately." An entirely alluring voice, like that of a siren.
[14:17] * Muirfinn blinks and turns to look at who is joining them. "A corruption of the flesh, then?"
[14:23] <@Kotono>The woman who approaches is an absolute bombshell. Her hair is long and blonde, a sensual, swaying strut with one hand on her hip. She wears a red dress that clings in the right places, eyes a momentarily off-putting shade of red. "Close enough," The Elder Magi replies, "This is Annalise." Meanwhile the wolf trots right up to her, sitting at her side as Annalise ruffles the fur atop its
[14:23] <@Kotono>head with her free hand.
[14:26] <Muirfinn>"Ah, hello." Muirfinn greets.
[14:28] <@Kotono>"Charmed," Annalise drawls, "My friend here likes you."
[14:31] <Muirfinn>"Ah, you are the one that Tepen mentioned then?" Muirfinn bows at the waist. "Always good to meet another friend of animals."
[14:33] <@Kotono>Smiling - a smile with fangs, one can note - "Yes, I am fond of wolves at the least. Such noble creatures."
[14:34] <Muirfinn>roll 1d20+23 Hey K:R, whyyyyyyy does she have fangs?
[14:34] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+23 Hey K:R, whyyyyyyy does she have fangs? and gets 36." 12 [1d20=13]
[14:42] * Muirfinn leans over to Tepen and whispers. "Is...is she...I know it's preposterous. Is she some sort of unfortunate half-vampire or some spawn thereof?"
[14:43] <@Kotono>Elder Magi Tepen clears his throat, "Annalise is an...ally, of sorts," Is his answer, murmured low. Meanwhile Annalise just smiles and waits, "Talking about something, boys?"
[14:52] * Muirfinn turns more fully to Tepen. "I think that we should talk about this later." He turns to Annalise. "What can we do for you?"
[14:54] <@Kotono>"Oh, I merely wanted to meet you," Annalise replies, offering a a hand out to Muirfinn. "My friend here told me that he liked you."
[14:55] <Muirfinn>In the sake of not wanting to look like a complete ass, Muirfinn takes the hand. "Indeed?"
[14:57] <@Kotono>Her grip is light - but strong, far too strong. "Wolves are good judges of character," she goes on.
[14:58] <Muirfinn>"Most animals are." Muirfinn agrees.
[15:02] <@Kotono>"We'll see each other around, but for now I have business to attend to," Annalise smiles before she turns and departs, the wolf going with her.
[15:03] * Muirfinn gives a cheerful wave as Annalise departs, then turns to Tepen once she is out of sight. "You have a vampire here!?"
[15:06] <@Kotono>"The circumstances are...abnormal," he answers at last, shaking his head, "She hasn't fed on us, and seems to follow Jaela's direction. Further, the traditional means of destruction are ineffective. Sunlight only makes her tired, nothing more." Here he sighs, "She is also in a relationship with Jaela, which complicated matters even further...not to mention she is surprisingly useful to
[15:06] <@Kotono>have around."
[15:11] <Muirfinn>"Wait...which one is Jaela?"
[15:15] <@Kotono>"Oh. A half celestial, one of the 5 who recovered Aurora," Elder Magi Tepen replies, "It seems you haven't met her yet, then?"
[15:17] <Muirfinn>"I might have seen her..." Muirfinn says absently. "A half-celestial and a vampire, you say? This...this sounds like some sort of big-city theater tragedy."
[15:22] <@Kotono>While you don't quite extract a laugh from Tepen, it's a close run thing with the way his lips stretch into a big smile. It makes his burdens look minor, "A tragedy writ large is my opinion. It is a center that cannot hold; one or the other will ultimately submit, I think, or they will split apart."
[15:29] <Muirfinn>"Mmmm. Well, that's for the future, then. As long as she doesn't make an overt nuisance out of herself to my people, I can ignore her for now. That said, where can my people open their portal here? The courtyard?"
[15:33] <@Kotono>"We'll take care of that," The Elder Magi says, as...
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?
