The armies are assembled in the courtyard, songs of glory being sung by some. Others stand in patience waiting, while others yet exude a nervous energy. But all are here, all are prepared. It's time. [19:12] <Afina> The Feint Team is at the gate, ready to take the fore with the armies directly behind to follow them. Afina and the other members of the Rescue Team wait just behind that, ready to leave the gate and plane shift to their goal once the assault is fully underway. Vul'lath should be opening the Gate momentarily... "Almost..." the fairy whispers, foating up so she can see above the armies and the
[19:12] <Afina> walls so she can see Lifasa as soon as they transition, for better or worse.
[19:13] * Jaela happens to be one of those waiting in patience. It seems incredible that they have this chance to return and fight the devils properly on their lost world. She nods slightly at Afina's words, and summons Gae Bolg and her floating triangular shield. This battle will be taken with the utmost seriousness from the very start.
[19:13] * Muirfinn speaks quietly with the tortles preparing to fight, hoping to bolster their confidence as he practically drags his water elemental behind him. He finishes speaking and strolls up to the group. "My people are prepared." He says quietly.
[19:14] <Kotono> Adrian stares out ahead, sword drawn. Occasionally his hand goes to his amulet, but his gaze is fixed ahead. "We're all prepared. To victory, because we can't accept anything else."

[19:18] <Kotono> There is a long pause before at last, Sage Vul'lath conjures up the gate so desired! Immediately Aurora begins to work, opening the gate wide and starting to pass ahead!
[19:19] <Muirfinn> As the Aurora moves, Muirfinn quickly taps Ithea with a wand, seeing her deflective aura as slightly lacking. A thin whirlwind of sand sprays up around her, bolstering her defenses. "Anyone else need a bit of extra protection?"
[19:21] * Ithea blinks and gives a short nod of thanks to Muirfinn for the slight bit of extra aid. Every bit helps. Her eyes go back to focusing on the gate though, as she grips her glaive tightly in anticipation, knowing battles will follow soon enough.
[19:24] <Kotono> The sensation is that of passing through molasses. It is as if Aurora slows down for an inperceptably slow moment, a shudder passing through each of you. Sulphur. The air reeks of sulphur, smoke and ash. What draws your eyes are the sky. Thick, dark yellow clouds blot out the sky above, pregnant and heavy with crackles of red fire. On the horizon you can far below see a blasted, cracked land.
[19:24] <Kotono> The ruins of a world, dotted craters and scenes of devastated villages and cities. Directly below you is a large island, with a great, burning city of furnaces and volcanic spires. Below the surface you can see that it is like an iceberg - just the tip of it is above you. It's like an upside down mountain, lava weeping from dozens of waterfalls in the Lower Polis. In a few places, gaps can be
[19:24] <Kotono> seen, cave-cities broken apart and glimpsed.
[19:25] * Afina grits her teeth. "Go!" she hisses, willing the lead elements to take the field and punish the monsters that have violated her word so, if only to speed the time when she to gets to enter the fray.
[19:26] <Jaela> Can this world even be saved? The question occupies Jaela as she waits for her debute.
[19:27] * Muirfinn grimaces, his beak curving sharply. "Disgusting. We will recover our home, even if we must do it bit by bit." Muirfinn says as he prepares himself.
[19:27] <Kotono> With this, the gates of Aurora surge open, the armies passing out! Adrian watches on, jaw clenched. He exhales through his nose as the roar of battle commences! OOC: All of you just going to be watching and waiting for your moment?
[19:28] <Afina> OOC: Yes. We'll order the retreat or dispatch reserves if shit hits the fan, but otherwise we're waiting for our step in the plan.
[19:32] <Kotono> Before you, the battle is joined! The armies of Aurora cascade down like the wrath of all the Gods, plummeling ahead! At this the Aeropolish glows red, great bursts of fire and brimstone fired out! You can see the army advancing on, enduring and pressing! As this goes on, Tepen is heard in all your minds, "The armies are advancing well and dealing with the artillery. Losses are minimal so far

[19:33] <Jaela> "That's good," Jaela responds, looking on.
[19:33] <Afina> "Everyone's probably fighting over who's in charge right now," Afina thinks with some satisfaction. "Lets move forward, now. Once the defences are stripped it's our turn."
[19:33] <Muirfinn> "We should press the advantage, then." Muirfinn responds. "Do not give them time to regroup and push us back."
[19:35] <Kotono> 'Understood,' Tepen replies, 'We are pressing the advantage.' The armies rush ahead, pressing through the brimstone cannons and returning fire! On they rush, streaming down! After another few minutes the brimstone cannons begin to dim and slow, stopping! In your mind, 'Report - the insides are in chaos!' Tepen calls, 'There's some sort of inter-devil conflict going on, as well as unconfirmed
[19:35] <Kotono> reports of some sort of battle in the Lower Polis. Details sketchy. Also, Dana's down, maybe dead. She had to disable a cannon herself, and it exploded in her face.'
[19:36] * Ithea inhales a deep breath of air at that, biting the lower part of her lip with concern for the crazed princess.
[19:37] <Jaela> "Make sure she's recovered," Jaela voices, thinking to the others as well, before turning towards Afina. "Want to move out now?"
[19:37] <Afina> "Get that confirmed, they have healers there! Make sure her body is recovered if nothing else can be done," Afina insists, heading out the gate, "Come on it's our turn. Jaela, you have our destination?"
[19:37] * Muirfinn shakes his head. "Damn. If she is truly dead, we must honor her sacrifice. I am ready."
[19:38] <Kotono> Adrian bites off a curse, "At worst, they'll reward her for bravery," he mutters, shaking his head. Holding his amulet tight, nodding. 'Report,' Tepen adds quickly, 'The sphere of dragonfire is unmanned right now, attempting to destroy or procure.'
[19:39] <Jaela> It only takes a step to get past the gates, and then Jaela focuses on their target. "I'm bringing us over," she informs Tepen, and then her magic is invoked!
[19:39] <Afina> "Give priority to siezing it, but if that's impossible then deny it to the devils," Afina reiterates her orders as they shift to the prison.
[19:41] <Kotono> It is smoky here. It's painfully hard to breathe, the air stale, foul and miserable. You stand in a small chamber, dark and forgotten. A door is ahead of you, carved of stone. The walls are warm enough to glow red, providing illumination.
[19:41] <Muirfinn> "May the Mother Ocean hold us in her embrace." Muirfinn utters the brief prayer as they shift. Immediately he looks around, looking for threats. OOC: True Seeing on!

There is writing in Infernal above the door. As you step up, you can hear

[19:46] <Kotono> You can see four of them - orthons, the same creatures you battled with Ithea in Earth. They are fighting a pair of black winged cornugons, locked in vicious combat! The writing above the door stays 'Redemption and education center'.

[19:47] * Muirfinn follows! Let the devils destroy each other!
[19:47] <Afina> Letting someone else do door-breaking duties, Afina hurries into the education center!

[21:59] <Kotono> Hanna's rage seems to leave her at once, exhaling heavily. With a quietly blank face she kneels, gently picking up Jaela and her weapon. She strokes her cheek and closes her eyes with her fingers, whispering something to her.
[22:00] <Kotono> Lief flies about, opening door after door! "This way! Hurry!" Lief calls, "Out this way!"
[22:00] <Ithea> "Never mind!" Ithea says to Adrian, stepping over the fiend's body to Hanna's side to...well, how -does- one help with that? Changing her mind, she instead goes help guide the former prisoners out.
[22:00] * Afina helps Lief by melting a few doors herself. "Tepen, what's the situation?" she asks while they do their part.
[22:01] * Muirfinn begins throwing open doors as well, wand at the ready to break down more doors.
[22:02] <Kotono> 'Extraction successful,' he reports, 'We made it. Going through casulaties now. They don't look that bad overall. We lost Dana and Ebony. Ebony and Canderella were together, and Ebony took an assassin devil's blade for her.'
[22:02] <Afina> "Jaela on our side. We'll see about resurrections once we regroup," Afina replies as she continues melting down doors.
[22:03] <Kotono> Prisoners, filthy and stinking, erupt out! Room after room empties, as they hurry out! AS they go, Lief flutters over, "Oooh, battle bounty," he says, "Are the ring safe to take?"
[22:03] <Kotono> 'Understood,' Tepen says after a moment's pause.
[22:03] <Afina> "Just don't wear them," Afina suggests, sheparding the prisoners towards the tent.
[22:04] <Kotono> The rings are taken as the fortress shakes again! The prisoners fill into the tent, soon leaving captivity behind! Coming around the tent and into the anteroom as the PCs see the last of them...a lantern archon? A little lantern archon, flying in. "Oh my!" it calls, "Hello? Hello?"

[22:05] <Afina> "This way," Afina gestures to it, her grudge against another lantern archon not involved here. "We're leaving any second now."
[22:06] * Muirfinn waves the archon forward as he checks the area once more. "That rumbling came before the last Nessian! We should go!
[22:06] <Muirfinn> "
[22:06] <Ithea> "Anybody else left?" Ithea says with a frown, focusing on any sounds of anybody left around that for whatever reason hasn't come out yet or whatnot, perhaps too injured from torture or whatever deviltry happens here.

[22:07] * Hatbot --> "Ithea rolls d20+44 listen and gets 64." [d20=20]
[22:07] <Kotono> "I'm not a prisoner! I'm not leaving!" It shakes its head, "I'm investigating for Makaril! He's an angel leading a counter movement from the Lower Polis!" It speaks rapidly, "The devils are collapsing into civil war and we've taken several important points of the Lower Polis! We're going to destroy this abomination and have it rain down on all the devils on the surface!"
[22:09] <Ithea> "Guys!" Ithea exclaims as she doesn't hear prisoners left but does hear something else. "Something's coming from below! Fast and heavy! Might be another fiend!"
[22:09] * Muirfinn looks at the archon incredulously. "We have at least one incoming Nessian pit fiend I believe, and we would be hard pressed to take it on without a full company. If you are not joining us, I stronly suggest you leave!" Muirfinn heads toward the tent at all speed!
[22:09] <Afina> "Then it's a good thing we're leaving. We'll be in contact with Makaril soon, until then good luck!" Afina tells the archon before zipping into the tent. "Go!"
[22:10] <Kotono> "Okay!" It bobs in the air once, flying off the way it came, "Good fortune an dmay the Triad bless you!" Off it goes, off and away! OOC: Piling into the tent and shifting post-haste?
[22:10] <Ithea> ooc: yes
[22:10] <Muirfinn> OOC: Let's get the flock outta here
[22:11] <Kotono> Piling into the tent, the magic is activated as soon as the party is in! With a tent full of emancipated prisoners, the ground escapes out! In a moment you are in Ysgard, wounds healing and the bracing cold refreshing you. Cries of joy and disbelief come from the captured, many lying in exhaustion, more bones than skin.
[22:12] <Afina> "Aurora should be here soon. There'll be food and shelter for you there. And safety," Afina calls as she flies around the prisoners, looking out for said fortress, "Tepen, we've evacuated successfully. What's your situation?"
[22:12] <Kotono> 'We're good,' Tepen sends, 'Was the operation a success?'
[22:13] <Afina> "All prisoners were rescued. We made brief contact with a member of Makaril's resistance but had to leave before another Nessian arrived," Afina replies. "Hurry over, we've got a lot of scared and hungry people here."
[22:13] <Muirfinn> "Success enough." Muirfinn responds grimly. "Let's make sure the sacrifices were worth it."
[22:14] <Ithea> "Let's hope they don't remain sacrifices at all," Ithea says with a sigh. "But we'll have to wait and see."
[22:21] <Kotono> From there, the refugees are taken to Aurora and fed. As they're cleaned up, the group gathers in the morgue. Here three bodies lie. One is Dana - covered by a sheet, but the way the sheet lies suggests that her face is largely gone. The second is Ebony, face calm and unbloodied, lying in repose. The third is Jaela, lying in calm repose, face cleaned of blood and sadness. Hanna silently holds
[22:21] <Kotono> her hand. Priest enters and nods, "My services are needed," he says, going to Jaela first. He kneels before her, chanting and calling on the names of the Seladrine! After several long moments Jaela gasps for air, her eyes opening wide!

[22:21] <Kotono> You are somewhere silent and misty. Peaceful, serene, passing. You're taking a long walk and don't know why. Somewhere crystalline, somewhere beautiful...and then, the world returns to you, your eyes opening wide as you gasp for air.

[22:23] * Jaela takes a look about her, before relaxing and laying her head back on the slab.
[22:23] * Afina smiles in relief, fluttering over to join Hanna. "Welcome back, Jaela. We won."
[22:23] <Kotono> Hanna picks Jaela up and hugs her, a suffocatingly tight hug. She doesn't say anything, just holding her.
[22:26] <Kotono> Adrian exhales, "Welcome b ack," he says, as Priest smiles to Jaela, before going to Ebony. He begins to chant around her, invoking the names of the Seladrine!

[22:26] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 100." [1d100=100]
[22:28] <Kotono> For long moments Priest chants, before he stops. He shakes his head, reaching out to pull the sheet over Ebony's head. "I couldn't reach her soul. Something intervened...I felt a warmth and love around her."
[22:28] * Jaela hangs her head, resting her cheek on her mother's shoulder.
[22:28] * Afina sighs softly, looking away. "Well, Sylica isn't far from here, is it?"
[22:28] <Kotono> "It isn't," Priest murmurs, "I daresay that perhaps her Goddess or a powerful force has intervened for her. Was she favored in her faith or by her Goddess?"
[22:29] <Kotono> Hanna brings Jaela's head up, and in a whisper, "I'm proud of you," she murmurs.
[22:29] <Jaela> "Yes," Jaela mumbles. "They liked her so much they told me to make sure she doesn't return too early."
[22:30] * Muirfinn winces slightly.
[22:30] * Jaela sighs, and shakes her head at her mother. "For something I did?"
[22:30] <Kotono> "I don't think resurrection spells can reach her now," Priest goes on to Dana, standing before her. "I suspect she is being reborn as a favored servant or blessed servitor to her Goddess." Turning to Dana he begins to chant - and so she sits up with a curse, face knitting! As it is restored from a burnt mess, "Fuck!" she grunts, "Aaaah, that huuuuurt good. Too good."
[22:31] <Afina> Afina likewise winces. "Even if her soul's already there, we can return her body home. I'll organise an honour guard from the Sylican detachment," she muses, perking up slightly as Dana returns to them.
[22:31] <Kotono> "Yes. Anyone can fight. Few can die bravely and selflessly. Martyrdom...well...don't do it, but if you have to, I'm proud of you for standing until the end fearlessly. Few can."
[22:33] <Jaela> "I'll die bravely as much as I need to," Jaela deadpans. "Anyway, screw the honor guard. I'll take her back myself right now, unless you guys need me for anything. I bet they'd want to punch someone for this."
[22:34] <Afina> "So good you had to come back and tell us about it?" Afina asks Dana, deadpan. At Jaela's strong suggestion she shrugs, "Very well, but I'll still come myself. It was my plan that put here there."
[22:35] <Kotono> Dana grins, "Hey, I died?" Shrugging, "At least I got up."
[22:36] <Ithea> "You're crazy, Dana," Ithea says with a shake of her head. "Going to consider that your most impressive death or something, aren't you?"
[22:36] * Muirfinn snorts quietly to himself.
[22:37] <Jaela> "I'm not really gonna wait," Jaela says, coming up to Ebony's body. "Let's go."

[22:42] <Kotono> Thus do Hanna, Jaela, Canderella and Afina gather. Canderella looks a little morose, but is unharmed.
[22:43] <Jaela> "I still have enough in me for a couple plane shifts, so we'll go by that oasis on Astral," Jaela says. She carries Ebony's cleaned and wrapped up body. With a moment for any objections, she calls upon her magic to transport them via that stop to the entrance to Sylica.
[22:45] <Kotono> A pair of hops has the duo before the cave to the portal to Sylica.
[22:46] <Afina> "This is it?" Afina checks with Jaela, flying inside a moment later. "How did it happen, Canderella?" she asks the succubus, her perception of the feint actions rather sketchy thanks to just having Tepen's reports to go on.
[22:47] <Jaela> "Yeah," Jaela responds. "We'll head for that mountain over there." She indicates Antenora's domain. "They already know we're here, so if they want to stop us earlier, it'll happen then."
[22:48] <Kotono> "We were wading in - we got forced forward by the flow of battle," Canderella's voice is a little morose, "Poor little thing. One of those blank faced dogai got behind us somehow and caught me by surprise, hissing about demon scum. Typical." After a moment, "Ebony shouldered me out of the way and begain a spell, smiting the devil even as it got her right in the heart. I think both of them died
[22:48] <Kotono> before they hit the ground." As you step in you enter through the Felic Gate. The Opal Mountain is before you - but as you have time to reflect, there is a ripple of magic. Antenora stands before you, opal eyes luminous. After a moment, "Alicia and Syala sensed you bringing in her mortal shell."
[22:50] * Afina nods, looking up at the angel, "I barely had time to know her, but she was nice... I think that's why she went the way she did, that niceness," she explains for what it's worth.
[22:51] * Jaela steps forward and offers Ebony's body to Antenora. "I'm so sorry. I failed at everything," she apologizes, lowering her head.
[22:51] <Kotono> "She was constantly atoning," Antenora replies, and after a moment, "I know what happened. Alicia called her to the mountain. We all felt her sacrifice." Here she sighs, offering her arms out, "May I have her?"
[22:52] * Jaela complies with Antenora's wishes in silence.
[22:54] <Kotono> Antenora takes the body in her arms, not sagging at the weight of ti in the least. Brushing aside the sheet hiding her face. She leans in, kissing Ebony's forehead, both her cheeks and then her lips. Soft, gentle kisses, and then in a murmur of Celestia, "Go now. You aren't needed anymore." The form of Ebony dissolves into motes of opal light, flying up into the sky above. With Ebony's shroud
[22:54] <Kotono> and clothes in her arm, "Alicia and Syala are both proud of her. In particular, Alicia understands sacrificing something for someone who may not even like you. She'll be reborn as herself, restored and given the form she's earned."
[22:56] <Jaela> "I'm happy she has great patrons like that," Jaela says, straightening up. She looks at Antenora and waits.
[22:58] <Kotono> "You did fail," she goes on, and with a hint of a smile, "Don't do it again. You're forgiven. Ebony will return to Aurora." AFter a moment, "We know your Crusade is a hard and dangerous one, and you need this help."
[22:59] * Jaela stares at her incredulously, before bowing deeply in place of any response.
[23:00] <Afina> Well, it was her plan that led to it... though whatever their losses, they won't reach the 999 rescued today. But she knew Ebony, so she has more prominence in her mind. "We'll welcome her back gladly, and have more care with how we use her," she promises.
[23:01] <Kotono> "It will be a little time," Antenora smiles faintly, "Pass onto our soldiers there that Ebony has passed into the Goddesses hands." Taking to the air, "I need to go now. We're all gathering to welcome Ebony to eternity, and she should awaken soon. Marie will never let me hear the end of it if I'm late, too."
[23:02] <Afina> "Goodbye," Afina waves as the angel ascends into the distance, turning to retreat back through the portal afterwards.
[23:02] <Kotono> Blink-blinking, Canderella stares a moment, before giggling into her hand. "I'd forgotten," she murmurs.
[23:03] <Jaela> "Forgotten what?" Jaela asks, the giggling being enough to cut through her shock.
[23:03] <Afina> "Forgotten what?" Afina asks Canderella curiously.
[23:03] * Jaela gives Afina a sideway glance and snorts.
[23:04] <Kotono> "Marie. Marielle. Alicia's familiar and a courre eladrin. Also Antenora's love and long time consort." Canderella says with a chuckle, "Ebony mentioned them to me."
[23:05] <Jaela> "Yeah. It's a very happy heaven."
[23:05] <Afina> "A courre? Aren't they the same size as me?" Afina asks, blinking. "Well, I suppose even some pixies go that way..."
[23:06] <Kotono> "Yes, and this one can change shape." Canderella waves a hand, "Once you can do that, size differences are a philsophical thing, nothing else."
[23:06] * Jaela carefully avoids looking at her mother. "Some people still can't get past that, you know? Or gender and the like. Anyway, we're going back?"
[23:07] <Afina> "I suppose," Afina shrugs, dismissing it. "Lets return. There's still much to do."
