[18:34] <Kotono> Thus the party proceeds onward! The passage slopes down gently after a little bit! As you descend down into the darkness, you can begin to hear the sound of splashing water ahead.
[18:35] * Lehko keys in on the sound and tries to ramp up his scanning of the area for details as he continues on.
[18:35] <Mycol> "Is it coming from above or below?"
[18:35] <Kotono> The sound is coming from below, further on in the passage.
[18:36] <Mycol> "The vampire again?"
[18:37] <Morrie> "I think it's just water..." He can't be sure, but it's a guess. "I think the vampire is further on."
[18:37] <Lehko> "Not yet, I don't think... Let's keep going.."
[18:37] * Lehko continues on, gun in hands.
[18:37] <Kotono> Proceeding further on, the party comes to the bottom. The passage comes to the bottom of a curved V slope. Ahead the passage slopes back up - but down that passage water pours! It gathers in the bottom of the V, a black and impenetrable pool of water. The pool's about 15ft from the path to the river-path that feeds into it from above.

[18:37] * Lehko looks over the water.
[18:37] <Mycol> "My kind of place."
[18:38] <Mycol> "Aside from the demon birds, snakes, and walking dead."
[18:38] <Lehko> "Do we want to find out if there's anything in that water, or just try to freeze it over and keep going?"
[18:38] <Lehko> "After all, we found a gold nugget in the last river...."
[18:38] <Mycol> "Or something more valuable."
[18:39] <Morrie> "I have a feeling this water is a bit less safe than the last time we went searching... but I do not mind checking, if you would like."
[18:40] <Lehko> "Alright.. Seeing as I'm immune to the asp's poison, I'll check..."

[18:40] * Lehko takes a deep breath and goes about checking the pool of water.
[18:41] <Kotono> Lehko goes in, shedding light within the pool! It's perhaps 10ft deep - and on the left side is a small gap the water flows into.
[18:42] * Lehko checks the small gap, thinking the current may have pushed something that way... Be it an animal, enemy, or object...
[18:43] <Kotono> Going to the gap, Lehko can see it's wide enough to go into. It goes on a ways, your light not penetrating far, so you can't see what's further in.
[18:44] * Lehko clings to the side of the gap and calls to the others.
[18:44] <Lehko> "There's a passage here.. I think I can fit in. Want me to check it out?"
[18:46] * Morrie frowns and looks at the others. "I don't think you should, but... I leave it up to you to decide." He calls out.
[18:46] <Mycol> "Can you get back?"
[18:46] * Lehko checks the current to be sure he can swim back against it..
[18:46] <Kotono> The current isn't that strong. Lehko estimates that he should be able to swim back against it if it doesn't get too much stronger.
[18:47] <Mycol> "Come here."
[18:47] <Lehko> "I should be able to swim back.."
[18:47] * Lehko swims back over to Mycol.
[18:47] * Mycol begins casting.
[18:47] * Mycol dances around Lehko, faster and faster.
[18:48] <Mycol> When finished, Lehko is under the effects of Sprint
[18:48] <Mycol> "Make an escape back to us if you find trouble."
[18:48] * Lehko nods and swims back through the water and into the gap!
[18:49] * Morrie takes a moment to dip his hand into the water and hold it out towards Mycol!

[18:51] <Kotono> Lehko swims along! With his speed boosted, he can zip down! It's about half a minute of swimming, his lungs starting to burn, before he sees it! There's a large gap in the ceiling above and a ladder juts out, within arm reach! Meanwhile Morrie calls on water, revitalizing Mycol!
[18:51] * Lehko clutches the ladder and tries to raise his head above the water slowly and stealthily!
[18:52] <Mycol> "My thanks, friend"
[18:52] <Kotono> With speed and a firm grip Lehko is able to get a hold of the ladder! There's about a 10ft tall chute here, the ladder leading up into it.
[18:52] * Lehko climbs the ladder, trying to keep stealth as primary...
[18:52] <Morrie> "I certainly hope he doesn't run into anything..." He lets out a sigh and nods to Mycol. "I'm glad we found another source of water."

[18:57] <Lehko> "Okay. Found a ladder and a *giant* treasure chest. But it's trapped. Big time trapped. Figured I should get Morrie to back me up, just in case. Considering the last few times."

[19:13] <Kotono> The path ahead is a downward flowing river. It's not at an angle that swimming up it is possible and walking will be fighting against the current. Advancing on looks like a trick.
[19:14] <Morrie> "Would you like me to try my trick again for this?" He glances at the others.
[19:14] <Lehko> "Ice over the water, again?"
[19:14] * Lehko moves to help Morrie with some magical stuff.
[19:15] <Morrie> "I will not be able to do it again if we get into a fight, so be aware of that." He will touch his ice-cold armor and attempt to freeze the river once again!

[19:18] <Kotono> The river suddenly crackle-freezes! The sound of crackling-frozen water echoes as the path ahead becomes a treacherous, icy slope!

[19:31] <Lehko> "Dealing with river current and watching our backs is a bad mix, I think. Let's deal with the vampire and come back."

[20:45] <Morrie> "Don't be so hard on him. We'll find something else." He will catch it and through the power of... wizards or something, put it back in the bag.

[20:46] <Santos> "I was getting his attention just fine once he was finally whittled down quite a bit! I mean, thanks for helping with the first hit, but damn, man, once he was near dead, you should have tried letting him bat me around!"

[20:48] <Kotono> Beyond here you find it a dead end - the candles and the coffin are the only things of note. There's also some small holes in the floor behind the coffin, resembling the snake-holes you saw earlier.

[20:54] <Kotono> The coffin opens. Within is a lined interior, though you don't see anything of note. It smells like musty earth.

[20:58] <Kotono> The left river passage doesn't go far before it hits a sharp waterfall up. It's about 10ft high, blocking easy progress and the stone ceiling barely above the waterline there. OOC: Okay.

[21:01] <Morrie> "Allow me a moment." He says, moving off to the side and placing a hand on the wall. He hopes with the vanquishing of the vampire, that the Earth will respond more readily to his call, and he will try and make either some steps for them to use, or enough outcroppings that they can try and climb up!

[21:03] * Morrie lets out a breath and nods.

[21:04] <Kotono> Thus the party climbs up and continues on! It's a fairly long walk-swim, taking a good twenty minutes to get anywhere. Eventually the roof rises and leads to a passage outside! The river comes from a sharp, narrow valley. The sun has set, the night sky far above shedding light. A few pine trees are dotted about. On the far side of the valley lies a simple, crumbling building of stone. One of

[21:05] <Morrie> "Is this, by any chance...?" He glances at Lehko.

[21:05] <Santos> "Hrm?"
[21:05] <Morrie> "Do you think this is Varonn? We did walk pretty far..."
[21:06] <Lehko> "I doubt it. Varonn is days of travel, I think."
[21:06] <Lehko> "We're a bit further out than I expected... Back in to check the right side passage, then on to check that building?"
[21:07] <Morrie> "Hm..." He looks at the others. "What do you all want to do? I wonder if it might be best to check this now, then go back."
[21:07] <Santos> "We're already here, might as well explore."
[21:07] * Lehko shrugs and heads towards the building.
[21:08] <Mycol> "Yeah."
[21:08] <Morrie> Since they're outside, Morrie will try and make some sunlight in his hands so they can see more easily.

[21:08] <Kotono> The building is ancient and eroded. Going around to the fallen wall, you see the insides is overgrown with vines and other flora. There's a thick layer of them over everything - you'd need to do something about them if you wanted to look about.
[21:09] <Santos> "Mycol! Dancing maracas time!" Santos calls out, pointing at the foliage.
[21:10] * Mycol looks kind of resentful, but eh.

[21:12] <Kotono> Maracas and dance quickly burn away the foliage! Underneath it is mostly charred stone and a single treasure chest.

[21:21] <Lehko> "She just reacted a bit."
[21:21] <Morrie> "Hm? Oh, here." He hands it over!
[21:21] <Mycol> "Where have I heard that name before"
[21:22] * Lehko holds it and focuses inward.
[21:22] <Kotono> In a whirl of icicles, Shiva appears on Lehko's shoulder. She yawns widely, stretching after. "Mmm, so tiresome." she says, wrinkling her nose. "So that's what woke me up?"
[21:22] <Morrie> "Ebenezer mentioned it. It was an alien." He looks at Mycol.
[21:22] * Lehko holds the Orb up in front of her.
[21:23] <Lehko> "I thought we should talk to you about this orb before we did anything with it."
[21:23] <Kotono> Shiva reaches out and pokes it with one tiny finger. "Geomancer, what do you feel from it?"
[21:23] <Mycol> "The virus lady?"
[21:23] <Mycol> "I'm not sure I'd trust anything that came from her."
[21:24] * Morrie will place a hand on it and focus on the actual feeling of it.
[21:25] <Kotono> Morrie can feel it. It's not quite alien as...different. Not unnatural but not natural at the same time.
[21:26] <Morrie> "I don't... ...it's hard to put into words, exactly."
[21:27] <Morrie> He takes a moment to consider his words before continuing. "It doesn't feel wrong... but doesn't feel... like it belongs here, either."
[21:27] <Morrie> "I think it's safe to use if we desire to do so."
[21:28] <Lehko> "It's ice, though, right? Shiva, could this be a boost to you, in some way?"
[21:28] <Kotono> "I haven't seen anything like this before," Shiva admits, before giving Lehko an even glare, "Are you saying I need this foreign ice magic?"
[21:29] <Morrie> "Ouch." He hides a smile.
[21:29] <Morrie> "If we don't desire to use it, we can just hold onto it. I'm sure Ebenezer would like to see it... and we might even find someone who really wants to study it."
[21:29] <Lehko> "No, but it *is* part of your realm, even if it's foreign, right? Doesn't that give you providence over it, if you want to claim it?"
[21:31] <Kotono> "If I needed to claim some world's crystallized magic, then I deserve to be made into a petty elemental spirit," Shiva says icily, arms crossed as she gazes at Lehko. She just gazes at him like winter's unfeeling heart, "Use it as you see fit. I don't need the leftovers from some far away realm."
[21:31] * Lehko shrugs and hands it back to Morrie.
[21:32] <Kotono> With a whirl of snowflakes and ice, Shiva is gone.
[21:32] * Morrie will put it in the bag then!

[21:32] <Kotono> OOC: Okay, now what, y'all?
[21:33] <Lehko> OOC: Go back and check the right fork of the river.
[21:33] <Morrie> OOC: Look around, then head back to the other side.
[21:33] <Santos> ooc: Now we continue exploring and finding treasure and killing snakes!
[21:33] <Mycol> OOC: I wouldn't mind a pause for the evening.

[21:34] <Kotono> There isn't anything of interest in the rest of the valley. Heading back gets you cold and wet, but you make it through. On the far side you find the right fork to soon come to a dead end - there's several little dribbles that make into a lake, none of them big enough to explore down.
[21:35] <Lehko> "I say we head back to town."
[21:35] <Morrie> "Shall we return to tow--" Cut off by the same thought, he nods. "Yes, let's return."
