Session Start: Mon Nov 17 12:22:38 2014
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Lucy(29)>Moore(26)>Veren(24)>Pepo(21)>Ship(4) '
* Set by Kotono on Wed Nov 05 12:32:24
<Kotono> -----
<Kotono> Lucy heads a good way down the beach, a few hundred feet away from the others. She can hear the cry of birds and the swaying of leaves in the breeze. It really is pleasant here, despite being so bright thanks to the glow. OOC: Set yourself up as you see fit and then roll.
<Lucy> Burning with anticipation, Lucy activates the rod! She can only do it the once, and she's so smart and wonderful the rod will surely reciprocate and teach her the spell she wants to learn!
<Kotono> OOC: d100.
<Lucy> roll 1d100
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 11 > 12 [d100=11]
<Kotono> roll 1d6*10
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 30 > 12 [d6=3]
<Kotono> OOC: Spellcraft, -5 mod.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16-5
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 26 > 12 [d20=15]
<Kotono> Lucy sneezes! Then again and again! Gah! She's breaking out in hives, right where all her magical items touch her body. She can tell the spell made her allergic to magic items! Not good! Not good at all! OOC: You're dazed, though you're able to remove one magical item per round. What magical items do you have? As long as you're in contact with one, you're dazed due to sneezing, itching and
<Kotono> hives.
<Lucy> OOC: None
<Kotono> OOC: Rod counts since you're holding that, but otherwise that's good.
<Kotono> OOC: Also your arcanist's gloves would count, since you wear those, obviously.
* Lucy blinks furiously and experimentally lets go of the rod. The sand is nice and soft so it won't get damaged.
<Lucy> OOC: I left all of my magical items back at the cabin
<Kotono> OOC: So you did. Okay then.
<Kotono> OOC: Good call.
<Lucy> OOC: No need to contaminate the wild magic!
<Kotono> Lucy's sneezing and misery starts to taper off. She idly itches the hives on her hand as she thinks. Hmmm. Allergies to magical items. If she did it just so, she could make a spell out of that. Third circle, perhaps? Higher if she wants to pour some more energy into it to make it a little harder to resist or last longer. But there's a seed here.
<Lucy> "How sneaky, rod!" Lucy says with admiration. "A worthy curse!" She tries to pick it up again.
<Kotono> Gah! ACHOO! ACHOO! HIVES! HIIIIIVES! Bad!
* Lucy unclenches her hand, allowing the rod to drop again. Then, she frowns. Clearly, a potent effect. She looks around for anyone to test this condition of the rod upon.
<Kotono> Kamhoff's a few hundred feet away, still dithering around by the sands. He has a magnifying glass out now, examining the beach.
<Lucy> "Mister Kamhoff!" Lucy calls out, waving him over.
<Kotono> Kamhoff rises with a grunt, dusting his robes off as he comes on over. "So what did you find?"
<Lucy> "A very useful spell," Lucy tells him primly. "Would you mind participating in a little experiment and picking the rod up?"
<Kotono> Kamhoff shrugs and picks up the rod. No sign of sneezing or hives. "What sort of spell?" he asks in the meantime.
<Lucy> "A very nicely-tailored one," Lucy muses. "That part of the design is quite interesting, the way it only targets specific individuals. I'll be sure to share my notes on it." Shaking her head, she asks, "Is there anything I could do to help, since we're here?"
* Moore (~ryan.scud@97.97.130.179) has joined #evildunes
<Kotono> Moore and Veren approach the other two. As they get closer they call out, getting Kamhoff to pause, "Hold on," he mutters, turning, "Yeah, what is it?"
> "A stone. Yellow-gold. It is heavy... And making me tired. I am also apparently unable to walk on the sand. Moore saw some kind of curse in it after I had already touched it."
* Veren dumps the rock on the ground next to him.
<Kotono> The rock hits the ground, hard. The sense of heaviness doesn't leave Veren at all.
> "I am still feeling its weight."
<Moore> "It's cursed. Blood-type, I think." Moore calls out.
<Kotono> "Ah hell," Kamhoff mutters, "If it's not volcano incidents or angry giants, it's cursed rocks!" Throwing his hands up, "Of course you are, you're probably cursed now or something. Lucy?" he asks, gesturing at the rock, "Want to take a look?"
* Lucy is always eager to learn about new magics, although she leaves the cursing part to Veren.
<Moore> "It's a greed-based one too, if my deduction was correct. I'm not sure that really helps any, though." Moore says with a frown.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16 spellcraft
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 18 > 12 [d20=2]
<Kotono> There's a curse on the stones. A curse of greed, bloodstained. The magic here is old, very old. That's all Lucy can tell. Meanwhile, Pepo catches up with the others, seeing the entire scene before him.
<Lucy> "Oh yes. Definitely cursed. Such a cliche curse, too. Are you sure this wasn't at a gravesite?"
<Pepo> 'I caught a chicken,' Pepo boldly tells the group, his tail proudly standing up. 'A thief tried to steal it but he was unsuccessful.'
> "A pool of water with a number of stones."
<Kotono> Old Kamhoff mutters a spell and peers at it as well. He then rolls his eyes, "As cliched as anything else. Knowing how these things go, you probably need to return the stone to where it was or some such." He pauses a that, "You caught a chicken? Good, good," he waves, "Don't pick up any gold nuggets here."
* Lucy nods at Kamhoff. "My thoughts exactly, although this is hardly foolproof. Besides, our destination will have the magical expertise to deal with it."
<Pepo> 'Is anything interesting happening here?' he asks, having had his own adventure.
> "Do you want to follow me while I return the stone? In case something else happens?"
<Lucy> "Up to you. It's a quaint curse but it wouldn't really hold me back."
> "I thought you were all about finding new magic?"
<Lucy> "I've learned all I can from this."
* Veren shrugs and picks up the stone, heading back to the pool of water.
<Moore> Moore will go with Veren!
<Pepo> Pepo decides to follow along just for something to do.
<Kotono> OOC: Party going to the pool then? Are you going or staying, Lucy?
<Kotono> The party returns to the pool without incident. They approach...OOC: Perception, all?
<Lucy> roll 1d20+20
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=4]
> roll 1d20+12 Perception
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 30 > 12 [d20=18]
<Pepo> roll 1d20+16
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 21 > 12 [d20=5]
<Moore> roll 1d20+12
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 23 > 12 [d20=11]
<Kotono> As the four approach, Veren happens to glance up. 30ft ahead he catches a glint of light in the shady, dim forest.
> "I think I saw something... A light reflection or something."
<Moore> "Where?" Moore asks with a look around.
<Pepo> 'Thief,' Pepo says in warning, slinking low into the undergrowth.
<Lucy> "Hello there!" Lucy calls out.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+33 stealthing
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 39 > 12 [d20=6]
<Kotono> As Veren says that and Pepo slinks down, Lucy calling out? An arrow comes flying at Veren!
<Kotono> roll 1d20+7 AC? No flatfooted since you made perception
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 14 > 12 [d20=7]
> OOC: 26 AC
<Kotono> But Veren just leans to the side, avoiding the arrow nimbly. Not the best shot he's ever seen. OOC: Init here.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+3 Arrower
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 9 > 12 [d20=6]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Arrower(9) '
<Lucy> roll 1d20+4
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 15 > 12 [d20=11]
<Pepo> roll 1d20+6+8

<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 16 > 12 [d20=4]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Pepo(27)>Veren(16)>Lucy(15)>Arrower(9) '
<Lucy> OOC: Right, +8 to mine
* Kotono changes topic to 'Pepo(27)>Lucy(23)>Veren(16)>Arrower(9) '
<Moore> roll 1d20+5+8
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 15 > 12 [d20=2]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Pepo(27)>Lucy(23)>Veren(16)>Moore(15)>Arrower(9) '
<Kotono> OOC: Open Pepo. Target is approximately 30ft away and mostly unseen.
<Pepo> Pepo slinks forward about twenty feet so he can get a better look at the archer...
<Kotono> Pepo is like the wind, slinking on the ground of the forest. Getting closer, he can see it's the same strange, neckless creature as before.
<Pepo> Stupid thief should have learned his lesson. This time Pepo is not inclined to be merciful, and from his position a shower of razor sharp crystal shards fly out to eviscerate the creature!
<Pepo> roll 1d100 5+ wild surge, casting crystal storm with 2pp augment
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 92 > 12 [d100=92]
<Pepo> roll 1d100 chaotic surge
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 5 > 12 [d100=5]
<Pepo> OOC: effect halved
<Pepo> roll 1d20+14 ranged touch
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 33 > 12 [d20=19]
<Kotono> OOC: Hits.
<Pepo> roll 2d4+2d6 slashing damage
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 14 > 12 [d4=3,3][d6=5,3]
<Kotono> Crystal shards fly at the thief, perforating him all over. He's sliced up by a dozen glimmering razors, crying out. It's a sound like music gone awry rather than actual speech, as....OOC: Lucy.
<Pepo> roll 0.5*1d4+1 fort DC 19 negates
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 1 > 12 [d4=1]
<Pepo> OOC: that's con damage
<Kotono> roll 1d20+7 fort
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 15 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> OOC: Okay.
<Lucy> "Stop!" Lucy orders, gesturing sharply.
<Lucy> OOC: Rebuke, Will DC21 or dazed
<Kotono> roll 1d20+4
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 17 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> The creature stops cold, wobbling back and dazed. OOC: Success, he's not moving. Veren, unless Lucy has anything else.
<Lucy> 'Who are you?' Lucy's voice demands in the creature's mind. 'Why do you attack?'
<Kotono> No coherent reply. Considering its dazed momentarily ,that's no great surprise.
> OOC: What skill governs tying someone up? If he's dazed and 30ft away, could I close to him and tie him up?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure. Use rope.
> OOC: Use rope isn't in Pathfinder, is it?
<Kotono> OOC: Is that still a skill in pathfinder? Lemme check.
<Kotono> OOC: Just make a CMB check.
* Veren moves up to the... creature, and pulls his rope out, using it to try and tie it up since it's dazed.
> roll 1d20+8 CMB, can I spend Inspiration to bump this?
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 9 > 12 [d20=1]
> OOC: Guess inspiration doesn't matter.
<Kotono> OOC: I'm not sure but I'd rule yes for today. That said, 1ed.
<Kotono> Even dazed, it's tough to tie someone up like that. Veren can't manage it, though he's in close now. OOC: Moore.
* Lucy looks on in disbelief.
<Moore> Moore will fly over to try and help Veren tie the creature up! OOC: Do I just roll CMB too?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure
<Kotono> .
<Moore> roll 1d20+4
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> With Veren having given it a shot, Moore is able to just grab his rope and tie up the creature. All snug and tight, got him! OOC: Free act for now, he's wounded, shaken and generally unable to act meaningfully.
<Pepo> 'That is the thief who tried to steal my chicken!' Pepo declares with wounded dignity.
> OOC: How close are we to the pool of water?
<Kotono> The creature groans and emits another chorus of music from its mouth. It sounds beautiful, like chimes ringing. OOC: Fairly close. 30ft away.
<Kotono> OOC: Since you went to go tie him up.
<Lucy> With a mental sigh, Lucy once more asks the thief's mind, 'Why did you attack? And try to steal a chicken from a cat?'
<Kotono> The same music fills Lucy's mind. OOC: Make a K:A check here.
* Veren heads back to the water while the others deal with the 'thief' and tosses the stone back in.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 32 > 12 [d20=16]
<Kotono> The stone is tossed back in. When it is, the creature dissolves into a stream of light, which flows into the pool and vanishes. It only leaves the rope used to tie it behind and nothing else. Lucy can remember a little tidbit: Some spells use music as a framing device. It's a useful one, but things conjured by it tend to reflect this. It's likely trying to communicate, but the magic that
<Kotono> forged it is tuned to music and it influences it instead.
<Kotono> Veren feels better. Not so heavy now.
* Lucy whistles a happy tune.
> "I feel better. I think returning it may have fixed it."
<Lucy> 'It seems this was Veren's fault,' Lucy informs Pepo. 'Did the chicken taste good?'
<Pepo> 'I haven't eaten it yet,' Pepo replies. 'I thought it would be a nice gift for everyone to share... there must be more anyway.'
<Lucy> "So! We'll pick up some supplies and be on our way? I suggest leaving that water alone."
* Veren nods.
> "Is there anything I could assist with?"
<Pepo> 'Get food?' Pepo suggests. 'Or find more neckless thieves.'
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, so what's the plan now?
<Moore> OOC: Moore can hang out with Veren so he has an eye for anything magical or dangerously natural and help him collect food.
> OOC: I can hunt while we go.
<Lucy> OOC: I'll stay with Kamhoff and help a bit
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Pepo?
<Pepo> OOC: catch more chicken
<Kotono> roll 1d2
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 2 > 12 [d2=2]
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Everyone but Pepo into #dunes, Pepo in here.
<Kotono> Chicken hunting is unremarkable. He catches a few and brings them back, then ranges further afar field. There's a break where he basically stumbles on a mouse that makes a nice lunch, then he goes further yet. He's near the edge of the forest, near where the mountain starts. Notably, he comes on something interesting: A paved road, smooth stone leading gently up the mountainside. Atop it, no
<Kotono> more than 30ft up, is a cave entrance.
<Pepo> That looks interesting. Staying to the shadows, he approaches the cave and slinks within to see what secrets it hides.
<Kotono> OOC: Stealth.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+33
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 46 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> Pepo slinks up the path and towards the cave. Inside is a fairly shallow cave, just dark. But not that this bothers a cat's eyes. 20ft within is a dead end. There's a wall with carvings of a man with a bow, shooting arrows at various prey animals, like deer. Beneath it are three small slots, each one no larger than a typical six sided die.
<Pepo> Nothing terribly interesting after all, so Pepo just heads back on his travels. The next few chicken he encounters - female ones anyway, he'll use attraction on and pull them back to the boat so they can provide eggs for everyone else.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Going to mention the cave to anyone or just keep it to yourself?
<Pepo> OOC: I'll mention it
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
