Iron Dragoon

Session Start: Tue Jan 27 13:33:14 2015
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Bolt(26)>Pepo(24) '
* Set by Kotono on Thu Jan 22 13:45:05
* Moore (~ryan.scud@97-97-130-179.res.bhn.net) has joined #evildunes
<Kotono> ---
<Kotono> The captain's cabin is nice. It has a writing desk, a bunk, and a locked chest besides it. There's also a little recessed cabinet where bottles of booze are. The desk is littered with ink pots, quills and lots of papers.
<Moore> Moore casts a Detect Magic in the room!
<Kotono> The chest radiates magic.
<Moore> OOC: Like the whole chest itself or something inside it?
<Kotono> OOC: You can't quite tell.
<Moore> OOC: Can I spell craft to try and sort it out?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure
<Kotono> .
<Moore> roll 1d20+13
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 26 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> The chest is enspelled to obscure the contents. A fairly decent if basic protection against divinations. You can't tell anything else due to the protection.
<Moore> Moore will grab the papers and put them in his backpack and look through the room quickly for anything else of any note!
<Kotono> OOC: Perception
<Moore> roll 1d20+13
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 25 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> There is indeed a hidden cubbyhole in the wall, just under the cabinet with the booze.
<Moore> Moore checks the cubbyhole!
<Kotono> Within the cabinet are three things - an iron key, a small vial of liquid and a simple iron amulet. Interestingly, once Moore can see them, they all begin to radiate magic.
<Moore> Moore will try and identify them! OOC: Spell craft again?
<Kotono> OOC: Correct
<Kotono> .
<Moore> roll 1d20+13
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 27 > 12 [d20=14]
<Kotono> The key's enchanted to only open a specific lock with a similar enchantment. The vial is a potion of cure serious wounds. The amulet...that Moore can't figure out.
<Moore> Moore will put the amulet and potion away and try the key on the lock on the chest!
<Kotono> The chest, surprisingly, does not open to the key.
<Moore> Moore huffs and goes back to the others. Maybe Lucy can find out what the key opens.
<Kotono> OOC: Keeping the key?
<Moore> OOC: Yes.
<Kotono> OOC: Loot post.
<Kotono> OOC: I'll move you back to #dunes shortly.
<Kotono> Soon enough Veren and Moore return to the locked chest. OOC: Go ahead, Veren.
* Veren approaches the chest and looks it over for traps as he pulls his thieves' tools out of his pack.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Veren > roll 1d20+13 Perception
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 15 > 12 [d20=2]
<Kotono> Veren can't even tell it's trapped.
<Veren > "I'm not sure if it's trapped... Which means it probably is."
* Veren reaches into his pack and holds up the healing for Moore.
<Veren > "Take this and be ready."
<Moore> Moore will take the wand! "I don't think it's actually trapped, it's got a magical enchantment on it, though. Nothing to worry about."
* Veren sets to work on the lock.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14+1+2 Disable Device/MW/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 20 > 12 [d20=3]
<Kotono> Veren works on it - but his hand slips! There's a loud click as suddenly a rainbow hued beam of light shoots at Veren!
<Kotono> roll 1d20+11 touch AC?
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 29 > 12 [d20=18]
<Veren > OOC: 18 I believe.
<Kotono> roll 1d8
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 1 > 12 [d8=1]
<Kotono> OOC: Ref save.
<Veren > roll 1d20+15+5 Ref/Inspiration, Evasion
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 32 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> Fire erupts around Veren, but he's too fast for it and manages to evade it. Phew!
* Veren wipes a bit of sweat off his brow, eyes the chest with venom, but goes back to work on it.
<Moore> "I really shouldn't be a judge of trapped chests." Moore says with a sigh.
<Kotono> OOC: If you're going to be boosting, say so, Moore.
<Moore> OOC: I'll give him a +5 boost.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Roll.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14+1+5 Disable Device/MW/Moore
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 37 > 12 [d20=17]
<Kotono> Veren works hard - damn, this is the hardest lock he's ever worked. It's absolutely amazing - he doesn't quite get it, but he's close to it or disabling the trap.
<Veren > "This... Is an impressive lock. I almost want to keep it."
* Veren continues his work.
<Kotono> OOC: Roll again, pending more Moore aid.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14+1+5 Disable Device/MW/Moore
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 38 > 12 [d20=18]
<Moore> OOC: Oh, sorry, the +5 only works once a day
<Veren > OOC: Then -5 on that.
<Kotono> Closer...closer...almost there! He can almost taste triumph over this trap and CRAP! A slight twitch of his lock pick as another beam comes out at him.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+11 someone went to a stupid amount of trouble to protect this, wow
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 17 > 12 [d20=6]
<Veren > OOC: 18 AC
<Kotono> But Veren manages to twist out of the way of the ray safely.
<Moore> "Okay, this is getting ridiculous." Moore says. "Do you want me to just try and dispel the magic on the lock?"
<Veren > "Yes."
<Moore> Moore will try and do that very thing with Dispel Magic!
<Kotono> OOC: Dispel check.
<Moore> roll 1d20+9
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 16 > 12 [d20=7]
<Kotono> Moore tries to crumble the magic of the chest, but nothing happens at all. A moment later, a rainbow beam fires out at him.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+11
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 31 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> roll 1d20+11 crit ow
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 27 > 12 [d20=16]
<Kotono> OOC: Touch AC?
<Moore> OOC: 24
<Kotono> roll 1d8
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 5 > 12 [d8=5]
<Kotono> OOC: Fort, Moore
<Moore> roll 1d20+6
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 21 > 12 [d20=15]
<Kotono> The beam hits Moore - and he begins to turn to stone. Wings, arms, legs...up to his neck, before in sheer desperation, he chants dispel magic again. It's just enough to arrest it and cause it to fade, leaving him fleshy and non-petrified. Barely. OOC: A good time for a good roll.
<Veren > "Alright, enough of that. We'll get someone else to deal with this."
<Moore> "I think Kamhoff would like the lock, though." Moore says, bristling slightly. "But yes, this is best left to the others."
Session Close: Tue Jan 27 14:44:25 2015
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
