<Kotono> -----
<Kotono> > Detect aberration doesn't turn anything up, nor does true seeing.
<Kotono> <Pepo> OOC: I'm an aberration
<Kotono> <Lucy> "What other spell would show us Bolethon who is not Bolethon?" Lucy asks Bolethon directly.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, then you turn up as an aberration, Pepo.
<Pepo> 'True seeing shows nothing out of the ordinary,' Pepo reports.
<Kotono> Bolethon is sitting in the galley, eating a simple meal of dried meat. He looks to Lucy and says, "You must follow the shining, drooling path. You must find Flanagan who is not Flanagan, yet is not the Flanagan who is not Flanagan as before."
<Pepo> 'Is that a metaphorical path or some sort of amalgamation of the light and a river?' Pepo asks.
<Kotono> To this Bolethon stares at Pepo for a time, before shaking his head. "Before it is too late, before the tomorrow that will not come tomorrow."
<Pepo> Pepo doesn't understand but also doesn't think follow-up questions will get anywhere, so he just grooms himself a bit.
<Lucy> "Is there another way?" Lucy asks reasonably. "A parallel approach would do us some good."
<Kotono> At this, Bolethon rises and shakes his head, "You must LIVE."
<Lucy> Smiling brightly, Lucy asks him, "Do you realize how annoying your answers are?"
<Kotono> To this, Bolethon merely smiles and walks right out.
<Lucy> "I knew it!"
<Pepo> 'We will have to investigate and experiment on our own,' Pepo says, since answers aren't forthcoming. 'Though you could teleport back to where we saw Flanagan who is not Flanagan and try to find him again?'
<Lucy> "Ah yes, I did want to pick up a clock as well at some point...." Lucy nods to herself. "There is also the option of trying the rod. I will make the preparations at the cabin and then teleport first thing tomorrow?"
<Pepo> 'Good luck,' Pepo says. 'I will go for a walk further inland for a few hours,' he says for himself, wanting to stretch his legs a bit. Maybe catch a mouse or a bird or something.
<Lucy> "Have fun~"
<Kotono> ---
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, link me to how we're dealing with the rod? I believe I went over it with you.
<Lucy> OOC: http://www.soulriders.net/forum/index.php/topic,103247.msg1054298/topicseen.html#msg1054298
<Lucy> OOC: And then a roll on the ol' d100~
<Kotono> OOC: Anyone there with you for it?
<Lucy> OOC: Not this time. I think Jetina is drunk and the others have stuff to do.
<Kotono> OOC: You can wait for her to dry out if you want, no time rush IC.
<Lucy> OOC: Then sure let's go with that. I'll invite her for the roll, not the recharging.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay.
<Kotono> Thew and is recharged. Lucy feels weaker and faint, but it's done. Jetina comes in at that point, watching. OOC: D100 yourself.
<Lucy> "Welcome!" Lucy greets her excitedly, feeling all light-headed and enjoying it. "The best time of the week is here~"
<Lucy> roll 1d100
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 63 > 12 [d100=63]
<Kotono> roll 2d10
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 12 > 12 [d10=9,3]
<Kotono> Lucy's mind blurs, shudders, shifts. She feels...different. Off. OOC: Caster and target change personality for 2d10 minutes. Since the only other person here is Jetina, you two swap.
<Lucy> OOC: what about the curse of narcissism?
<Lucy> "I think this rod is messing with me," she says with a frown, staring at it.
<Kotono> OOC: That goes with her too.
<Kotono> Jetina hmms and looks down at herself, "Well, well," she murmurs, going to Lucy's mirror.
* Lucy absent-mindedly holds the other one behind Jetina's head with a wave of her hand.
<Kotono> Jetina doesn't even blink, instead studying her face. "My, my..." she murmurs, "This is absolutely perfect!"
* Lucy studies the two of them with all due diligence to gain valuable magical insights!
<Lucy> roll 1d20+18 spellcraft
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 29 > 12 [d20=11]
<Kotono> Oh, Lucy sees. A personality switch! A dispel should be able to end it, it doesn't look that strong.
<Lucy> Why ruin an interesting experiment? Rather than break it, she merely takes her time to study it and how the different magics interact. "Isn't magical research fun?" she asks Jetina.
<Kotono> The magic's interesting to study - like a rainbow torrent of emotional patterns. It's keyed to both of them, forming a subtle link that allows the spell to work. It's an interesting technique, but easy to dispel because of it. By the time Lucy pulls herself out of her study, she feels her normal mood and personality return.
<Kotono> Jetina looks at the mirror once more, then rubs the side of her head, "Eh?"
<Lucy> "I think it switched our moods and personalities for a short while," Lucy tells her, still absorbed in her proper documentation of the magic, "while at the same time transferring a certain geas placed upon me. How utterly curious, that such a weak and easily-broken symbiotic spell would manage something so advanced."
<Kotono> "Eh." Jetina rubs her head a little longer before coming over, "I'll take your word at that. That was....something," she finally says.
<Lucy> "Did you like having the absolute certainty that you are the best and can do anything you wish? It's a bit like alcohol-given courage, I've found."
<Kotono> "It was different," Jetina says, slowly shaking her head, "Do you need anything else? That was just strange to me."
* Lucy dutifully writes Jetina's answer down. "Most unfortunate. Perhaps the wonders of magical research are just not for you. Are we still on for riding later today?"
<Kotono> "Should be," Jetina says, "I feel fine."
<Lucy> "Great! I'll come looking for you once I teleport back," Lucy promises, putting her notes away in a handy binder and storing her rod. With research done for the day, it is time for her to teleport over. She'll use Miimi's stall as a reference point, she thinks.
<Kotono> It is...empty. Silent. You stand by Mimi's stall and see nothing at all. Not a single person is around. Only absolute silence reigns over Freeport Rock.
* Lucy checks the time with a frown. It won't be the first time she teleported somewhere in a different time zone... she thinks.
<Kotono> The clocks all read 2:39. None of them are working - they're all stuck on that number.
* Lucy takes the best one, and upon reflection one more as a present. Then, with that done, she proceeds slowly towards the tavern where Bolethon was recruited. There is no rush; instead, her clairvoyance and clairaudience sensors get deployed around her so that surprising her would be much more difficult than usually.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+23
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 31 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> There's...nothing. Just emptiness everywhere. Lucy reaches the outside of the tavern without incident.
<Lucy> Leaving a beacon outside so she could easily consult with it, Lucy steps into the tavern to search for anyone.
Session Close: Wed Feb 04 16:20:08 2015
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.

Corwin

[20:01] <@Kotono> The tavern is empty. Silent. There's a few half eaten meals about, even a half eaten rat meal. It's just utterly nothing.
[20:02] <Lucy> Rats. That gives her an idea, and Lucy lets herself into the employee-only area where said rats would be kept. It might help her figure out if everyone disappeared, or only the sentients.
[20:02] <@Kotono> There's no rats here at all.
[20:04] <Lucy> Showing signs of frustration at last, Lucy heads out onto the street and transforms into her true self! Then, with wings lacking in practice but operating on solid muscle memory she ascends to take in the city properly from above.
[20:06] <@Kotono> Lucy flies above the city. It is empty, emp-OOC: Fort.
[20:07] <Lucy> roll 1d20+7-2
[20:07] <Rei-chan> Lucy rolled : 1d20+7-2 --> [ 1d20=3 ]{8}
[20:07] <@Kotono> roll 7d6 damage and more, make sure to adjust Lucy's max HP for the con loss first.
[20:07] <Rei-chan> Kotono rolled : 7d6 damage and more, make sure to adjust Lucy's max HP for the con loss first. --> [ 7d6=30 ]{30}
[20:10] <@Kotono> Pain then darkness. When Lucy stirs, it is in confusion. Why is she in this bed? It's not her bunk on Kamhoff's ship. But she's tucked into a bed in an unremarkable room. Looks like an inn room. A rather gruff, familiar face is there. Bash? From Freeport Rock? Why? Lucy's head is fuzzy, pained. Why would he be here? OOC: You've forgotten everything about your visit or that you came to Freeport
[20:10] <@Kotono> Rock, Lucy.
[20:11] * Lucy tries to focus on the last thing she remembers.
[20:12] <@Kotono> The ship? Je...tina? It's a blur. There was that celebration, she had a few drinks, maybe? Yes, she remembers drinking now, the memory emerging with a startling clarity. Drinking, laughing, playing, magic? Did she somehow teleport here by mistake, in a drunken stupor? That sort of feels right.
[20:14] * Lucy pulls on the sheet tucking her in and peers at herself.
[20:15] <@Kotono> She's dressed normally. At this Bash rises up, "You're awake," he grunts, "Now that we have the obvious out of the way, how the hell did you end up falling from the sky?"
[20:17] <Lucy> "Magic," she says, pressing the palm of her left hand against her forehead. Detect Magic is summoned to help her look about herself. "A better question would be why am I in your bed?"
[20:19] <@Kotono> No unusual magic is about. "Well, this is an inn room," Bash says with ag runt, "I saw you when you fell and got you here. Rather than leaving you in the streets," With his arms crossed as he goes on, "Magic's the size and shape of it. You owe me 20 gold for the room, and if you're wondering why it's so expensive, it's because everyone's rich now. Your rain of gold."
[20:20] <Lucy> "Ah, did you like it? My gift to Freeport!"
[20:23] <@Kotono> "It did a thing," Bash finally allows, "It hit off inflation, so everyone who sells everything is rich. All the sailors coming by are getting ripped off, while the smarter ones are selling trade goods here."
[20:26] <Lucy> "That sounds like a yes so I'm glad to hear it." Lucy carefully sits up on the bed, lowering her feet to the floor. "I hurt worse than I ever did. Ever. That I can remember. A lesser soul might deduce that she made an error in teleporting while under the influence, but a wizard of my stature knows that my teleportation ability is flawless and foolproof. Therefore-- well, it's possible I accidentally appeared to coexist the same space as something else. Did you see any sign of it?"
[20:28] <@Kotono> "You were face down in the street," Bash shrugs, "I don't know enough to tell you anything else, at least about that sort of magic."
[20:30] * Lucy makes a point of examining herself as thoroughly as she can without embarrassing Bash needlessly. "Huh," she voices. "Right. So. How have you been, aside from the ripping off sailors bit?"
[20:39] <@Kotono> "Fairly well. I'm going into business," he says, "The ship and path is gone, so..." He makes an exaggerated shrug. "I have to find something to do."
[20:40] <Lucy> "Guess I could tag along," Lucy muses. "See the old spot again before I teleport away." She hands over four platinum coins. "For your trouble, and as thanks."
[20:41] <@Kotono> "Thanks," The coins are taken, "I'll walk you there." OOC: Gonna go visit the ship's old spot?
[20:41] <Lucy> OOC: Yep
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[19:58] <@Kotono> The trip back to the ship's spot is without incident. The surrounding area is dented up and run down now. The fence is gone in a few places, haphazardly patched up. No one's around, a general air of disinterest around it. "There's not much point to all of this now. The ship's gone." Bash says, "It's just another light source."
[20:00] <Lucy> "No fresh ghosts? That's a relief," Lucy muses, although she can't help but be a bit disappointed. "Well, since I'm here, somehow, I'll go buy a clock. See you another time, Mister Bash."
[20:05] <@Kotono> That gets a nod as Lucy goes off. The trip to Miimi's shop is unremarkable. The pixie is there, this time dressed in bright red, neon orange and light blue. She waves as Lucy approaches, "Hi, welcome to Miss Miimi's Magnificent Magics!"
[20:06] <Lucy> "Great to be here!" Lucy chirps, waving back. "I want your best clock as a souvenier!"
[20:11] <@Kotono> "Ooooh!" She reaches into her robes, coming out with a golden pocketwatch. It's encrused with diamond and rubies, "This clock will last you for centuries! The gears are perfect and enchanted to never wear down. It's a steal at 2,000 gold coins."
[20:13] * Lucy shakes her head. "I don't want a magical clock. What else do you have?"
[20:19] <@Kotono> "Hmmm." Putting the fancy watch away and looking about, "How about this one." It's a simple wooden clock, well carved and decorated with little pixies at play. "How about this for 20 gold?"
[20:20] <Lucy> "That works," Lucy agrees, hanging over two platinum coins. "The pixies are a nice touch." She picks the clock up to study it, asking, "Got rich with everyone else in the rain of gold?"
[20:21] <@Kotono> "Oh, I did alright," Miimi giggles at that, "Most everyone did."
[20:24] <Lucy> "Happy to hear that." She shakes her index finger at the pixie, grinning. "Don't gouge the visiting sailors too much!" And with that, Lucy teleports back to the top deck of Kamhoff's ship.
[20:28] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, so now what are you going to do?
[20:29] <Lucy> OOC: Barring crying Bolethons I'll go to my cabin, unpack, find discrepancies and seek out people who might know more. Starting with Jetina, likely.
[20:30] <@Kotono> OOC: No crying lightmages. I'll move you along.
[20:32] <@Kotono> You find Jetina in her room. On knocking on the door, "Hold on, I'm changing," Jetina calls. "Whoever it is, I'll meet you on deck in 10 minutes! It isn't an emergency, is it?"
[20:32] <Lucy> "Probably not," Lucy says, frowning to herself. "I don't know. Need any help?"
[20:35] <@Kotono> "No." Jetina's sigh can be heard,  "A horrible frog-man vomited all over my dress. Rainbow colored vomit, somehow."
[20:36] <Lucy> Lucy's eyes light up! It could become a valuable resource for powering the rod of wonders! "Did you see where he went--" She stops herself and shakes her head violently. "Stop being stupidly coy and let me in. Prestidigitation will clean you up."
[20:37] <@Kotono> "I'm undressed," Jetina says, a hint of scandal in her voice. "You can wait until I'm damn well in my armor!"
[20:37] <Lucy> "Fine. But just so you know you will regret this once you finally come out. In more than one way."
[20:38] * Lucy decides to hang a ways back, and rather than the deck bring Jetina over to her cabin once she's ready.
[20:41] <@Kotono> It takes just about ten minutes for Jetina to emerge. She's clad in armor and her adventuring gear, carrying her dress over one hand. The front of it is now a rainbow pattern of bright colors. "He ran off into the city," Jetina gestures, "It looked like across between a gray frog and a human."
[20:43] <Lucy> "Alright, Miss 'I'm too prudish to let my best female friend magic all my troubles away'," Lucy say primly. "Drop that thing back in your room and come with me, it really is a sort of emergency."
[20:45] <@Kotono> Jetina puts the dress away. As you come up, "It's not prudish, it's not being obscene." Eyeing Lucy, "A lady's treasures are only given to those they love. It's scandalous to just show them to anyone. At least not without a compelling reason."
[20:45] <Lucy> "Did you never have maids while growing up?"
[20:48] <@Kotono> "I did, and once I grew up a little bit I was expected to dress and bathe myself," Jetina retorts as you come into Lucy's cabin. "I've heard of nobles in other lands who act like that, and that's just helpless. What are you, an adult who can't dress yourself?"
[20:51] <Lucy> "That makes a startling dose of sense, actually," Lucy muses. "But it's still prudish. I don't think it matters if the person with you isn't interested like that. Then again, you're free to be prudish if you like-- I'm doing this again. Tangets. Have to stop going on those." Closing the door behind them, she gestures at her bed where three clocks are arrayed one next to the other. "At the risk of saying a terrible pun, I've started losing track of time."
[20:52] <@Kotono> "Then buying clocks is sensible?" Jetina slowly ventures. She gives them a casual examination, "Clockwork? I didn't know there was a clockwork seller in town."
[20:54] <Lucy> "Do you notice that they all have the same maker?" Lucy inquires. "I've been meaning to buy one from her in Freeport Rock for a while now, but when I finally did I discovered that I had two others already in my possession. And they are both stopped! At the same time!" She points for good measure. "I'm a wizard, I don't forget things like that! And why was I in Freeport Rock to begin with?! And I'm hurt worse than I ever remember, and a person I met there told me I fell out of the sky. It's magically impossible for my teleport to work that way unless something is very wrong with me!"
[20:56] <@Kotono> "Huh." Jetina studies the clocks for a bit, before gently hmming. "No offense or insult meant, but did you drink much at the celebration or after it? If I may say, this sounds like the sort of think you wake up to after a drunken revel."
[20:56] <@Kotono> After a moment Jetina begins to blush, "My own memories of the celebration are addled in the same way. I'm content that the damage I did was ultimately minimal."
[21:01] <Lucy> "Maybe," Lucy says shiftily. "I still can't mess up my teleport if I'm drunk, it's just not the way it works."
[21:03] <@Kotono> "Maybe you managed some wild magic?" Jetina ventures with vague gesture, "Aren't you always trying to innovate and learn?"
[21:05] <Lucy> "Ah. Yes. Speaking of that." Lucy retrieves her journal. "I wondered that very same thing myself, and so I went over my research notes." With a frown, she shows them to Jetina. "See this part? Where it meticulously records us trying an experiment with the rod of wonders some time after we returned from the celebration? Apparently you weren't fond of the experience, albeit it was quite harmless. Does it look like unsteady or drunk handwriting to you?"
[21:08] <@Kotono> Jetina gives it a once over, "Not particularly," she admits. "It looks normal enough to me."
[21:08] <Lucy> "Well do you remember it?!"
[21:09] <@Kotono> "Um, yes." Jetina says slowly, "It was strange, especially with that geas of yours. I spent the time staring into the mirror."
[21:11] <Lucy> "I don't! Not one bit! And! Again! Do you have any idea how strong something would need to be to so much as touch me? I don't want to brag needlessly but it would take an army or a mage of my caliber. So you can understand my considerable concern that something managed to leave me in such a situation and I have no memory of it!" She waves her hand uncertainly. "You must have some magic that helps."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake
