[20:35] <@Kotono> Pess 17 through 20 passes in sorting the great hoard. It's quiet as everything is identified and appraised, then two more days pass managing to load it into the wagons. Pess 23 has T doing the last adjustments, trying to cram in every copper he can. The party's largely watching him, a pile of copper coins and weapon and armor racks all that will be left, not counting the kobold things. But as
[20:35] <@Kotono> this happens, "Inari...Inari...Inari..." Rock mutters from behind the party.
[20:37] <@Inari> "What is it, Rock?" Inari asks upon hearing her name, turning around to speak to the earthdragontroll.
[20:38] <@Kotono> Rock is pacing around, stomping and growling. "INARI," he emphasizes, waving his hands around.
[20:38] <@Kotono> Helena pauses and looks back, "...yes, and?" she inquires.
[20:39] <@Inari> "I'm right here!" she says, getting closer and putting a hand on his arm, though she probably isn't strong enough to stop him waving it around if he wants to.
[20:42] <@Kotono> Indeed not. Rock grunts a few times, before blood gushes from his lower back. It pops out slowly, a scaly, trashing dragon's tail. Rock suddenly sighs in relief, slumping.
[20:43] <@Erad> "...Oh, that looked unpleasant." Erad says with a frown.
[20:44] <@Kotono> Helena stops cold, staring for several long moments. She reaches back and pats her backside, "Inari, don't take this the wrong way, but...you aren't contagious, are you?"
[20:44] <Annerose> "Did that happen to you too?" Annerose asks Erad, unable to look away.
[20:45] <@Inari> "Of course not, my tails are fluffy and nice," Inari insists, circling around to Rock's back. "Not that yours isn't a very handsome tail, but it's certainly scaly and solid, more suited for bashing heads than providing warmth and signalling your age and power."
[20:46] <@Kotono> "Good news," T comes out, "I got another bag of coins in..." He stays, stopping and staring for a moment. He then turns around, sharp and fast as he can, and marches right back into the wagon.
[20:46] <@Kotono> Rock grunts, moving his tail back and forth a few times. Helena meanwhile glances back at T and shakes her head, "Well, I don't suppose I can say anything about changing," she admits.
[20:47] <@Inari> "T really doesn't like tails, does he?" Inari says sadly, patting Rock on the back. "You should be proud of yours. Take care of it and it'll take care of you!"
[20:48] <@Erad> "What? No." Erad shakes his head. "Though I'm sure there are some dragonborn with them."

[20:50] <@Kotono> "Well," Helena says brightly, "How about we wait for T to finish up and see if we'll be ready to go today?"
[20:51] <Annerose> "How about we pin a tail to T while he's asleep?"
[20:51] <@Inari> "I don't think he'd ever forgive us."
[20:52] <Annerose> "Even if it's nice and fluffy?"
[20:53] <@Inari> "Well that just makes me suspicious as to where you plan on acquiring a tail to pin onto him," Inari replies, her tails waving idly behind her.
[20:54] <@Kotono> From there, the 23rd largely passes quietly. Over dinner, T comes on out. Around the campfire he says, "So I got most everything in," he says, "Except about 3000 copper coins and the weapon and armor racks. We're full up, to the point I've crammed loose coppers in between boxes and chests. The horses can manage this load but not much more, we'd best not do any acquiring until we've liquidated
[20:54] <@Kotono> our wealth. The horses can move but will be slower, another reason to sell things off as soon as possible." OOC: Loot.
[20:55] <@Inari> "So things in the hidden rooms still weigh down the wagon?" Inari asks, a bit surprised. "I'd thought it was some sort of extradimensional storage thing."
[20:56] <@Kotono> "Either they do and the horses can move far more than they should, or they don't and the horses have normal strength," T admits, "Even then, they'd push the boundaries of strength, so I don't really know."
[20:56] <Annerose> "How about moving what's left into the hidden, hidden room?" Annerose proposes. "That way, if we ever need any of it for some reason it should remain safe."
[20:57] <@Kotono> "Why not?" T says, "So scavengers can only have kobold leftovers. Though I don't see much of a point to it, it's not even 500 gold left in value, if I do my math right."
[20:58] <Annerose> "The principle of the thing, I suppose."
[20:58] <@Inari> "Three thousand coppers is the same as three platinum," Inari supplies helpfully.
[20:58] <@Kotono> "Sure," T says, gesturing at the remaining pile, "Feel free to."
[20:59] <Annerose> "I meant more the various armors and weapons."
[20:59] <@Kotono> "You know," Helena pipes up, "This place could be a good hiding place if we ever need one. It's really defensible."
[20:59] <@Inari> "Especially if you're a green dragon."
[20:59] <@Kotono> "The weapons and armor?" T jerks a thumb back at the wagon, "They're in there. It's the racks I left."
[21:00] <Annerose> "Ah! Then it doesn't matter."
[21:00] <@Kotono> "Praise Lathander, Selune and Auril's frosty teats," T says grandly, "In more important business, where are we heading next?"
[21:01] <Annerose> "Let's talk about how Jack can die."
[21:01] <@Erad> "Are we skipping the weird dragon cult town?" Erad asks.
[21:01] <@Kotono> "I vote for it," T readily seconds, "We could go in there and crack heads, but what's the point? Let them wither in the vine."
[21:02] <@Inari> "Without their dragon they'll lose interest in the whole thing," Inari agrees authoritatively.
[21:02] <@Kotono> "On the vine," Helena corrects, "I don't like leaving them, but we have already spend over a week away from the purpose of our trip south." Glancing at Erad, "What's Bahamut say about cultists like that?"
[21:02] <@Kotono> *spent
[21:05] <Annerose> "A better question might be if they're a danger to others, left to their own devices? And whether we're willing to be quite stern with the entire population if they're not?"
[21:06] <@Erad> "Well, we still can't be sure they're not just dragon-worshippers, you know? It might be like Rock, where they just need guidance." Erad says. "Bahamut would say to help guide them, but they'd have to make the choice on their own. If they stick with being evil dragon worshippers then... well, we did our best. You're right, though, we went wildly out of our way -- for good cause, mind -- but it's
[21:06] <@Erad> still taken us away. I doubt the town is going anywhere, if we wanted to just return after our business is settled elsewhere. I appreciate everyone being so willing to deal with the dragon, so I don't want to be selfish and demand we do anything further."
[21:07] <@Kotono> "We could pass word on to the authorities to go look into it." T snickers after, "I  know, I know, but look at it this way. Knight Windor thinks we're scum, but he hates that dragon business too."
[21:08] <@Kotono> Going on after that, "See, I say we head on into Allam, deal with Windor, sell our load then refocus on this Auril business. We can get some equipment so we're well prepared and have the money to do it."
[21:08] <@Inari> "Who's demesne does this town belong to?" Inari asks those more up to date on current politics.
[21:08] <@Erad> "I still really want to throw the head on his stupid desk." Erad says with a huff.

The entire thing was a bit of a fiasco," T admits, "So right now Knight Windor's probably running things with some other knights while Misty Harbor faffs about and figures out now what, which is a nice way to say people play politics for power."

[21:11] <@Kotono> Annerose knows from experience it was Lord Arnam, who has a bad case of the deads. Or do you mean the scion of the district?
[21:12] <Annerose> "T's right. Also, the more I think about this the more I feel we should investigate the village properly. After what the dragon did, killing off the lord so publicly or so they think, the villagers will be treated quite harshly by any authorities."
[21:13] <@Kotono> "Eh," T admits, "They do have an inquisition. They probably deserve it."
[21:13] <@Erad> "We can see what happens when we get there, then?" Erad offers. "I might be able to sway them one way or another."
[21:14] <@Kotono> Helena scowls at that, "If being treated harshly means what I think it means, then they don't. At least the women and children don't. I'd rather keep that village on the maps, thank you very much."
[21:14] <@Kotono> T scowls right back, "They aren't going to massacre an entire village. Not even Knight Windor's fallen that low. He's pragmatic and that means less tax money. That'll upset people."
[21:15] <@Kotono> "Oh yes, I'm sure people like Jack Maggen would care about that," Helena rolls her eyes, "The only reason Knight Windor cares is because he's a xenophobic bigot who thinks everyone here except you is a a walking abomination against all that's proper in Malana."
[21:15] <@Kotono> Rock watches all of this disinterestedly, gnawing on his dinner.
[21:16] <@Kotono> "Oh, now you're just being hysterical," T retorts, "'nari, tell her she's being hysterical."
[21:16] <@Erad> "You -were- there when he called us all sub-humans, right?" Erad asks with a look at T.
[21:17] <@Kotono> "I mean about massacring the village. I know he has a low opinion of non humans," T remarks, rolling his eyes again.
[21:17] <@Inari> "She's making a reasonable argument," Inari replies with a little shrug. "But I think you're all getting too hung up on Mr Windor. Didn't Armand or whatever he was called have a son or brother or third cousin twice removed that'll be taking over? For that matter won't this town have a knight in charge of its own who'd have been under Armand and equal to Windor?"
[21:18] <@Kotono> "Depends," T remarks, "Not every little village has a knight who runs things. There might be a squire or two in town." He shrugs, "This isn't exactly the most glamorous village ever."
[21:20] <@Inari> "Anyway, even if Windor does get in charge, he's a little man suddenly being given a massive area to run that's outside his usual experience. He'll probably be too busy to run around massacring the villages he's now in charge of."
[21:20] <@Kotono> Helena glares icily at T, "Be all that as it may, we should go and at least get the lay of the land and sort things out. We do have that letter from Lord Househaven, we can get away with lots under that. Say we take care of it and declare it done in his name."
[21:21] <@Erad> "Well, is there any harm in stopping there?" Erad asks. "Worst case, we rough up some people if they're being crazy. If there's nothing wrong then we can just be on our way."
[21:23] <Annerose> "How about a compromise?" Annerose offers. "We still need to get that dragon's head. So maybe Erad could slip into the village to preach about Bahamut while that happens?"
[21:23] <@Kotono> T returns that look, but stops. "It's not the worst idea," T says, "But I'd better not go, unless that inquistion decides to make round 2 out of it."
[21:23] <@Erad> "You really need to learn a spell to disguise yourself." Erad says.
[21:24] <Annerose> "I could disguise myself adequately, if Erad needs help."
[21:24] <@Inari> "You can just hide in the secret room," Inari says. "Lie on top of the gold and pretend you're a dragon!"
[21:24] <@Erad> "It probably isn't a bad idea for two of us to go together in case of a problem." Erad agrees.
[21:25] <Annerose> "Works. Plus you might find that bag of holding kobolds!"

[21:43] <@Kotono> Annerose is smiling to herself, lost in her own thoughts. Snow, snow, snow. How wonderful! How beautiful! What a wonderful day to be alive! The others can notice a much more salient thing. Flying about 500ft up, circling the lair,  is a green dragon about the size of the one you recently dispatched. It's making no move to hide itself.
[21:45] <@Kotono> T sloooooowly looks up and says one word, completely deadpan. "Shit."
[21:45] <@Erad> "I think it'd be wise to get the wagon out of here. I can distract it, if you want." Erad says. There's both an anxiety as well as a determination to his voice.
[21:45] <@Inari> "Er... did that dragon perhaps have a spouse?" Inari says worriedly.
[21:46] <@Kotono> "That could be bad. Really bad." Helena says, looking up as the dragon looks down.
[21:47] <@Erad> "Someone take care of the wagon." Erad says as he starts to fly up, the staff in tow.
[21:47] <@Erad> "I'm not going to do anything reckless, don't worry." He adds as he flies.
[21:47] <@Inari> "Alright, T get the wagon into cover!" Inari says, hoping off and casting recitation before Erad gets out of range!
[21:48] <Annerose> Snowflakes begin to orbit Annerose's head in anticipation of an exciting battle!
[21:49] <@Kotono> "Back or ahead?" T shouts, hopping into the wagon's seat.
[21:49] <@Inari> "Ahead, to the side, whatever!" Inari says. It'd take time to turn around, and really just getting it under some tree cover so its less easily bombarded from the air is fine.
[21:50] <Annerose> "Ahead!" Annerose seconds.
[21:50] <@Kotono> T leads the wagon off as the party prepares, as meanwhile Erad flies up. The green dragon waits for him, seemingly content to allow Erad to rise, but its sharp green eyes never once leave him or the party.
[21:52] <@Erad> "Since you can see what I'm holding, I doubt anything needs to be said." Erad says, calling out in Common. "Every fiber of my being says to try and do the same to you, but as you have yet to attack us, I owe you at least that much out of respect." The last word seems difficult for him to say, but he manages it.
[21:53] <@Inari> Inari casts some more spells while Erad flies up to chat! Starting with mass resist energy! On herself, Annerose, Helena, and Rock. Which is everyone present actually... unless they stayed in the wagon with T?
[21:54] <@Kotono> OOC: How close are you getting, Erad?
[21:54] <@Kotono> OOC: I presume only ERad stayed in the wagon, but say so if you did, Annerose.

[21:54] <@Kotono> OOC: Er, T.
[21:54] <Annerose> OOC: I stayed with Inari
[21:55] <@Kotono> The dragon's response is a roar. A dreadful, overwhelming roar of grief, fury and pain, as if wretched from the deepest depths of Hell. "My mate!" she - and her voice has a distinctly feminine quality - bellows, before plunging headlong at Erad. OOC: Init here.

Erad shouts at the dragon as he flies up and away from Inari by 40 feet, just in case it decides to breathe down on them.
[22:32] <@Erad> Erad also restores his injuries before the dragon does anything else!

[20:40] <@Kotono> Erad's fists shine as he duels with the dragon. His first punch is errant, but his second gets the dragon on the ribs. Already burnt, cut and wounded, this makes the dragon hiss in pain. "ENOUGH!" it bellows in Draconic, before spraying breath all around. [21:03] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, then how are you making a full attack since that's a move action to stand up?
[21:03] <@Erad> OOC: RIGHT
[21:03] <@Erad> OOC: Right, sorry
[21:03] <@Kotono> OOC: First one's the only one that counts, but it is a hit then at 28.

[21:05] <@Kotono> Inari stabs up as Erad stands, not quick enough to avoid the dragon's bite. Most of his hip is torn open and bone is showing from the wound, which bleeds freely. He punches the dragon in the snout, making it sneck snap back, as a single dot of red flies over and lazily lands on it. A fireball blossoms around its head, only to vanish with nothing done. OOC: T acted since he's gotten the horses
[21:05] <@Kotono> moved and has been preparing. Unfortunately, fireball's superior range doesn't help when you don't beat SR. Dragon's up.

[21:06] <@Kotono> Staggering, a dragon-sized door appears just above the dragon, which it leaps through and vanishes. None of you immediately see the green dragon. OOC: Annerose and Helena, go.
[21:08] <Annerose> "Are all green dragons such cowards?" Annerose cries out in disbelief as she stands up, before boosting her speed and heading after T. If the dragon were to return, that's where it would likely go.
[21:09] <@Kotono> Helena just lies there, coughing up blood and shuddering. She tries to rise a few times, but it's a struggle. She slowly gets to one knee and then on both, making it to her feet as blood trickles from her mouth. Rock growls low and sniffs the air.

[21:10] <@Inari> "Is that where it went Rock?" Inari asks, picking herself and moving over to Helena but not quite being able to provide any healing just yet.
[21:11] <@Kotono> Annerose can see T still on the wagon, scowling as he mutters profanities about spell resistant dragons.
[21:11] <@Kotono> "That way," Rock growls, agreeing. OOC: Erad.
[21:11] <Annerose> "Can anyone see it? Ah, good! Lead the way, Rock!"
[21:11] <@Erad> Erad takes a moment to recover his own health before he takes to the air slightly and starts to head north.
[21:14] <@Kotono> Erad's injuries mend partially, relieving the pain from his shoulder ceasing. Meanwhile Helena coughs again, "Ribs..." she gasps, "Can't breathe...right....drowning..." As this happens, Erad can see it. About a thousand feet away the dragon is rising up into the sky and away, beating a retreat on with its distance-eating dragonflight. OOC: Free act for the moment.
[21:14] <Annerose> That seems close enough for a fireball! Except with cold!
[21:15] <@Kotono> OOC: Do you have a thousand ft range with fireball? You may actually, but do the math.
[21:15] <@Inari> Inari heals Helena some!

[21:15] <Annerose> OOC: I can move 60ft with swift expeditious retreat, then fireball it with 400+440ft range? It's 'about' a thousand, so....
[21:16] <@Kotono> OOC: Lemme do the math on its DD since I eyeballed the range and it's going to matter here after all.
[21:16] <Annerose> OOC: Toss in 30ft more for fireball radius

[21:18] <@Kotono> Annerose's iceball flies out and explodes on the dragon's rear. It staggers in the air as it doesn't even see it coming, hit head long. It wobbles up and down before plummeting down to the earth, hard enough that all of you are tossed about, an earthquake rocking everything. OOC: Acrobatics, all, after I roll the falling damage for the dragon.

[21:20] <Kobot> Kotono rolled 2d6 --> [ 2d6=9 ]{9}
[21:20] <@Kotono> She sees white for several moments, stickiness spreading down her forehead after the blow. She's face down in the snow, pained and dazed. OOC: Free act.
[21:21] <@Kotono> Helena's on her feet in spite of the shaking, "Thanks," she says, taking a deep breath. She looks around, "What happened?"
[21:21] <@Inari> "Annerose killed it!" Inari announces cheerfully, dispensing out more laid back healing now the crisis is over.
[21:22] * Annerose stubbornly climbs to all four, then slowly to her feet. "We have to make sure," she says dazedly, stumbling towards the distant dragon.
[21:22] <@Inari> OOC: mass lesser vigor on me, Annerose, Erad, and Rock. +19hp over 19 rounds.
[21:22] <@Erad> "I don't think it's dead yet." Erad says as he starts to fly towards it. "If it isn't, then we'll finish the job."
[21:22] <@Kotono> Annerose's face is a mask of blood, pouring from a nasty cut on her head. Fortunately it seals itself up quickly under that healing, limiting the carnage. Helena hurries over, "Hold on," she says, throwing her arm around Annerose, "Let me help while you get your bearings."
[21:23] <@Kotono> Rock takes off at a run, slogging through the snow and snowstorm.
[21:23] <@Inari> Inari jogs after Rock while the healing does its work.
[21:24] <Annerose> "Help me aim this right," Annerose whispers to Helena, stretching her arm towards the dragon's crash site as she powers up another long-raged attack.

[21:26] <@Kotono> Helena does just that, another cold ball thrown. No visible resistance as the party races on. As you get closer, you can see the dragon's landed, a crater around it. It isn't moving, either.
[21:28] <Annerose> "Remind me to learn how to fly," Annerose says, leaning on Helena as Inari's magic slowly restores her faculties. "I wanted to. Always did."
[21:28] <@Inari> As they reach the dragon Inari casts another mass lesser vigor on herself, Annerose, Erad, and Helena this time!
[21:29] <@Erad> Erad didn't do this last time, but he says a prayer to Bahamut. "If you were to continue your service to your patron deity, they might grant you the same type of wings that I have. Well... yours would probably look different." Erad says as he flies over to check on the dragon. If it's a trap, then at least everyone else is there.
[21:29] <@Erad> OOC: Going to see if I can tell if it's actually d-e-d dead or just fakin'
[21:29] <@Kotono> "Yeah, I think I can if I just see the right things," Helena murmurs. Erad goes to look over the dragon. OOC: Heal check, Erad.
[21:30] <@Erad> roll 1d20+14
[21:30] <Kobot> Erad rolled 1d20+14 --> [ 1d20=17 ]{31}
[21:30] <Annerose> "No, she wants people to be self-reliant," Annerose tells Erad, shaking her head and wincing.
[21:31] <@Erad> "I'm sure you'll find your own wings, then." Erad says with a smile. "Through magic or otherwise."
[21:31] <Annerose> "Magic sounds right," she agrees. "Also, I suddenly wonder if Rock will become even more draconic this time."
[21:32] <@Inari> "How about it Rock?" Inari asks, prodding the dragon with her spear. "Hungry for more dragon?"
[21:32] <@Kotono> Good news for Erad: It's a dead dragon. Very dead. Gone off to visit Tiamat. No longer with this world. Wormfood. Deader than dead. Gone.
[21:33] <@Kotono> Rock's already digging in, tearing the dragon's ribs apart with single minded determination.
[21:33] <Annerose> "Another thought is that we have nowhere to store her things," Annerose continues to muses out loud. "Once we find her lair, that is."
[21:33] <@Kotono> T rides up at a slow pace, "Well damn," he drawls, "Apparently a raging dragon's easeir to deal with than a calm one. Who knew?"
[21:33] <@Erad> "Oh dear, do we have to go dragon-diving again for whatever this one had on them...?" Erad mumbles.
[21:34] <@Inari> "We don't even know where to start looking for the lair, I think we can forget about it," Inari says, going to lean against a tree while Rock dines.
[21:35] <@Erad> "Do we have any room for more scales or bones? No, right?" Erad asks.
[21:35] <Annerose> "There is a spell that can make her head tell us, and a nice place close by that can preserve it?"
[21:36] <@Kotono> "None at all," T says, "Anything you want from her you'll have to carry yourselves."
[21:37] <@Kotono> Snow continues to fall, slowly beginning to bury the slain wyrm before you.
[21:38] <@Erad> "I'll carry some extra, then." Erad says. "And anything else Rock might... run into. Do we want to bother looking through its... ugh, insides?"
[21:38] <Annerose> "Snow actually works well enough to preserve things," Annerose decides. "So what are we going to do? Cut off both their heads and tie them to the top of the wagon?" She shrugs at Erad's question. "You'll just regret it if you won't. Probably."
[21:38] <@Kotono> Rock's tearing through the dragon with steady efforts, until at last the heart is revealed. He tears into it, eating away without even cutting it out first.
[21:39] <@Inari> "Why do we need to carry the heads of our fallen foes everywhere?" Inari asks. "Just leave it, we got a good haul out of that last lair there's no need to be greedy."
[21:39] <@Erad> "No, you're right." Erad says with a nod. "I'll get to it, then."
[21:40] <@Erad> OOC: Intent is to get some more scales and bones and also look through the dragon piñata.
[21:40] <Annerose> "Oh." Annerose blinks. "No, you misunderstood. I meant to bring back to town with us?"
[21:41] <@Inari> "Didn't we agree that it would smell horribly and drip blood and viscera everywhere?"
[21:41] <Annerose> "Watching the snow gave me an idea of freezing it."
[21:43] <@Inari> "I can see I'm not winning this one," Inari sighs, giving up.
[21:46] <@Kotono> T matches that sigh, "'nari, some people just want to have dragon heads. There's no arguing with them. Just get out of the way and smile."
[21:46] <@Kotono> Meanwhile Rock eats the dragon's heart. There's no visible changs as he makes his way out.
[21:48] <Annerose> "You have to admit it would be impressive and make our point! Such as should they decide to try and arrest us."
[21:48] <@Erad> OOC: Int roll for the scales and the bones like last time?
[21:49] <@Kotono> OOC: Yes.

[21:50] <@Erad> OOC: Need any roll for dragon-diving for items?
[21:50] <@Kotono> "So would some force," T points out, "Or a bunch of other things." Meanwhile Erad goes extracting, taking out  more scales and bone.s They aren't in the best shape, but they'll do.
[21:50] <@Kotono> OOC: No.
[21:50] <@Kotono> Some casual digging shows no items within this dragon.
[21:51] <@Erad> "...Huh. Did it just never go into a human form, then...?" Erad shrugs. "Oh well. Well, either way, if we take the heads, it might make us enemies at crazy dragon cult town."
[21:51] <@Erad> "Or heroes, I guess." Headds.
[21:52] <Annerose> "Up to you. I can freeze it if you want the prop, but it's your show in the end."
[21:53] <@Erad> "I think it's best we just put all our cards on the table." Erad says. "So let's just take both. Hey, both heads might make Windor -really- crap his pants."
[21:57] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay. Going to cut+freeze teh head and then...?
[21:59] <@Erad> OOC: Sounds like we're going to the village T came from, I think?
[21:59] <Annerose> OOC: Go to the village, Erad tells them to follow Bahamut
[22:00] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, we'll pause a bit early here. It's a bit late to start a new scene, and I wanna talk to y'all.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[20:02] <@Kotono> OOC: Y'all were getting a second head and then heading to the village, yes?
[20:02] <Annerose> OOC: I'll freeze it for Erad
[20:02] <@Erad> OOC: Yes, freeze both to keep them and so on.
[20:04] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay.
[20:05] <@Kotono> It's not too far from noon when you come into the village. Snow falls in a thick blanket, two feet of old and new snow already down and more coming. The village is tucked away, no one out in this mess. On a glance it's a normal village - a bunch of houses in the center, then farmsteads radiating out around it. The dominating building is a classical cathedral, made of stone and looming high.
[20:06] <@Kotono> Helena's watching the snow more than anything else, occasionally murmuring to herself. T's bundled up against the coldw hile Rock just doesn't seem to care. T looks about, "And here we are," he announces, "Inquisition central. Please don't say any local heresies or you'll get inquired into."
[20:07] <@Inari> "Well, lets go to the cathedral and show what we've made of their gods?" Inari says, not sounding terribly happy about it. As rotten as the dragons may have been she can well imagine her own attackers brandishing her stolen tails before her own followers in times long past.
[20:08] <Annerose> "Perhaps we could have Erad talk to them first before resorting to that?"
[20:09] <@Kotono> "Sure," T grunts, leading the wagon all over. The cathedral's doors are closed but light comes from the windows. "I'm sure they'll listen to a dragonborn of Bahamut after following one of Tiamat's spawn."
[20:10] <@Erad> Erad glances around. Huh, to have a cathedral all the way out here... OOC: K:H on if he might've heard anything about this place, or L?
[20:12] <@Kotono> OOC: Either works.

[20:17] <@Erad> OOC: I do not.
[20:18] <@Kotono> OOC: Carry on then.
[20:18] <@Erad> "I haven't heard anything about a cathedral like this out here." Erad comments. "I think there's... well, we'll figure it out. Let me see what I can figure out from them."
[20:19] <@Erad> With that said, Erad will approach the cathedral door and then turn to the others. "Uh... is it customary to knock on these sorts of things or just open them?"
[20:19] <@Inari> "You're the conquering hero, you don't knock!" Inari calls over.
[20:19] <@Erad> Erad makes a face but moves to open the door.
[20:22] <Annerose> "You'd only knock if it were late at night, or the place was obviously closed, wouldn't you?" Annerose muses.
[20:22] <@Erad> "We knocked on Shining Light, didn't we?" Erad calls back to them. "I honestly forget now."
[20:23] <@Kotono> The door opens slowly, with a great creak. Within is a large open space, stone statues of dragons dominating. A grand altar of glittering gold stands in the back, decorated with the carved heads of dragons. People are milling about, clad in rough green robes with hoods. A few dozen, who turn to the door when it opens and stop on seeing Erad.
[20:25] <@Erad> Well, maybe he gave them the green robes... ...This is going to get complicated. Erad raises a hand in greeting. "I would speak to whomever is your highest ranking official." He says, doing his best to not sound rude, but still sound authoritative.
[20:26] <Annerose> "It looked closed for business," Annerose agrees, peering past Erad at the altar. "However did the dragon let the locals keep anything that valuable?" she whispers to Helena.

[20:28] <@Kotono> Erad gets long, cautious looks, "Who are you?" One woman calls, striding forward. Her voice is the only thing that gives her away, green robes covering her otherwise. "Do you come with a message from the Master?"
[20:29] <@Erad> "My name is Erad Ioth Bemin ux Bahamuti." Erad says. Looking towards the one who called out. "Are you in charge of this cathedral?"
[20:32] <@Kotono> Several gasps come from the robed figures, the word, "Bahamuti," repeats several times, as if a scandal. The figures stir, a fearful noise going through them.
[20:34] <@Erad> Erad simply stands there, making no other motions as he waits. The last thing he wants to do is give them any more reason to either fear or loathe him or Bahamut.

Clawed, twisted hands, hints of scales on them. They're coming at the party! OOC: Init. You have a whole bunch of unhappy cultists coming your way. They didn't ID a dragonborn on sight, but dropping the word Bahamuti was basically an

[20:40] <@Erad> "I guess we'll have to rough you up a little bit before you'll listen, then." Erad says with a bit of a sigh before he shouts over his shoulder, "Can we disable them without hurting them to much?"
[20:45] <Annerose> A spell brings a spring to Annerose's step as she summons snow for a ladder leading up to the top of the wagon and the frozen dragon's head. A few robes need replacing too, if your noses are right. OOC: Inari.
[21:04] <@Inari> Inari hops off the wagon and walks into the cathedral, an irritated thought striking that it's far grander than her own temple once was. Of course hers was built to be in harmony with nature, not to be a gaudy edifice to wealth, but still it rankles a little. "We have another one just like it on the wagon, too," she proclaims cheerfully.

Graxanaxy must've left someone here to lead you all when he was not present, who is it? There is much we would discuss with them."
[21:13] <@Erad> At this, Erad will take out the staff previously used by Graxanaxy as if to serve his point. "None of us have tried to strike you, despite the way you spoke. Stand down and see reason."
[21:14] <@Kotono> OOC: Intimidate check, +20 circumstance bonus. Normally this would be diplo, but they're so spooked that doing that is coming across as another threat. That dragon head stunt put the fear of PCs into 'em.

[21:15] <Penuche> Erad invokes Penuche's magic: < 34 >12 [d20=12]
[21:18] <@Kotono> Huh. Apparently screaming in fear, fainting and fleeing at top speed is the reply to that. Cultists run in a sheer panic, a couple so overwhelmed that they pass out. They're going, going and gone as T watches, "See what you did? You can't have a self respecting inquisition when they do things like that." He laughs and shakes his head, as Rock just stares at the fleeing humans. He sniffs the air
[21:18] <@Kotono> a few times and grimaces. OOC: Annerose.
[21:19] <Annerose> "Say, T, is that altar real gold? It looks like real gold."
[21:22] <@Kotono> "I can take a look," T goes and does just that, inspecting it. He taps it a few times and peers, "Yeah, seems to be," he says. OOC: Actually, since the baddies are in full retreat and no one's threatened, let's go to free act.
[21:22] <Annerose> "There's a cathedral of Lathander down on its luck at the capital," Annerose muses.
[21:23] <@Inari> "Wagon's rather full though, isn't it?"
[21:23] <@Erad> Erad sighs. "Is this what false faith is brought to?" He shakes his head, looking around for anyone who may not have run off.
[21:23] <Annerose> "Quite so. But if the village has any horses, we could buy them!"
[21:24] <@Kotono> The ones who haven't are the ones who fainted. Erad could check them if he likes. T gives it a shove and fails to move it, "You may need multple horses. This thing weighs a ton, probably literally."
[21:26] <@Erad> Erad goes over to check on them. They're probably just going to start screaming again when they wake up, but... "I wonder if I fly up and make an announcement to the town if it'll cause them to get in line or just die of heart attacks."
[21:26] * Annerose comes over, looking around for magic. "Sound workable? Maybe start looking around the village for them?"
[21:27] <@Kotono> The altar radiates magic. OOC: Spellcraft.

[21:28] <@Kotono> Annerose can't identify the magic.
[21:28] <Annerose> "Inari, mind taking a look at the strange dragon magic?"
[21:30] <@Inari> "Let me have a try..." she says, casting detect magic.

[21:32] <@Erad> Erad makes a face at the scales. "You bastard, using people like this..." He shakes his head and lifts them up so they're at least resting on each other and against the altar. He stands up to look over at the others. "I'm going to try and... I don't know, see if I can at least get these people to stop screaming so much..."
[21:33] <@Kotono> Ah, the altar's not gold at all. A powerful, quasi real illusion masks it. It's crude iron smoothed over, not actual gold.
[21:34] <@Inari> "Oh, it's just an illusion," Inari says in relief. "I had things like that at my old temple actually, although nothing so vain. The altar's nothing but a big lump of crude iron."
[21:35] <Annerose> "Nice!" Annerose exclaims. "Once Erad slaps a few of the dragon fans awake I can dispel it!"
[21:36] <@Kotono> OOC: What's the plan then, y'all?
[21:36] <@Erad> Erad makes another face at that. "Couldn't even really give anything nice to the people calling you master, could you, you...ugh." He almost spits at that, before he heads outside. He'll take a look around to see if any of the culists maybe are coming back with pitchforks or anything.
[21:37] <Annerose> OOC: If Erad can bring some people back, good. If not, wake up the couple here and dispel the altar.
[21:38] <@Erad> OOC: I'm going to try a big speech even if I don't actually see anyone. My voice should carry enough!
[21:44] <@Kotono> Going out, Erad finds the people have scattered. Trails are left through the snow, going in this direction and that. You could follow one of them easily enough.
[21:46] <@Erad> No need to follow them, Erad simply takes off into the air, high enough to be seen in front of the Cathedral.
[21:47] <@Kotono> This is done well enough. You can see some people still fleeing to farther away farmhouses, and some trails ending at closer buildings.
[21:49] <@Inari> Inari just goes back to the wagon to sit down while Erad does his thing.
[21:49] <@Erad> "People of this town! Followers of Graxanaxy -- the one you called Master!" Erad shouts, raising his voice hopefully high enough for them all to hear. "I am Erad, a follower of Bahamut! I know not what you were taught of the dragons, but I only ask you this -- that you listen to this message and decide for yourself your path! My comrades and I, the Torch Bearers, killed Graxanaxy and his mate
[21:49] <@Erad> for the atrocities they had committed across Malana! Know that I, nor my comrades, hold you all responsibile for his evil! But understand this! You now have a choice to make -- you can either continue to follow this path, the one where you are servants and slaves -- or free yourselves from this and follow the path of righteouss of Bahamut!" Erad shouts the last word as loudly as he can. "Bahamut
[21:49] <@Erad> forgives, but you must decide this on your own! You are free to make your own decisions!"
[21:50] <@Erad> He'll linger for a few minutes in the air, seemingly as if he's appraising his own words. Whether they decide to repent or not isn't up to him at this point, either way.
[21:52] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a diplo check, +5 bonus.

[22:00] <@Erad> Erad takes a breath, deciding to add one more thing: "For any of you who heed my words -- do not turn on your fellows in this place. Look to Bahamut for guidance on how to live, but even He would understand love between family, despite religious differences!" Even if nothing else good comes of this place, maybe it can be a place where all types of dragonblooded can live.
[22:00] <@Erad> With his peace said, Erad will fly down to the others. "Sorry, I got a bit long-winded there... never did quite know where to start and stop those sorts of things."
[22:01] <Annerose> "That's alright, it gave me enough time to break the magic. So are we leaving now?"
[22:03] <@Erad> "Whatever happens to this place is up to the people who live here." Erad says. "I don't think there's anything else for us to do. Thank you."
[22:03] <@Inari> "Are we leaving the head? Or both of them?" Inari calls over.
[22:04] <@Erad> "If we can take them on one last trap, I would appreciate it." Erad says. "Right to Windor, then we'll be done with this whole affair."

[22:08] <@Kotono> Thus travel begins. Pess 25 is dark and snowy again, as is the 26th. 4 feet and change are now stacked up, no sign of snow in sight. On the morning of the 27th, as you're getting close to halfway to Allam, Helena studies about during breakfast. "I've never seen signs like this, "she announces, "Everything's saying more snow. It's still not even the offical start of winter and it's still coming
[22:08] <@Kotono> down like nothing else. I'm worried that Maggen and company may have done something else on top of the ritual we stopped."
[22:10] <@Erad> "It's entirely possible." Erad says with a frown and a nod. "Weather control is something you can do with magic, isn't it?"
[22:10] <@Inari> "If he has that's a dire threat to the kingdom and everyone in it," Inari says. "With hard evidence of his participation it would justify anything we did to him."
[22:11] <@Kotono> T sits back, having finished his breakfast quickly, "What I'm worried about is that he's making his big play this winter. We stopped the war, so why not aim to have winter take over Malana? Go with plan B if plan A fails."
[22:12] <@Kotono> "There's not much we can do about it from here," Helena says, going back and starting to eat her breakfast, "The best thing we can do is get up an get moving."
[22:13] <@Erad> "Yes. We can unload a bit at Allam, then see if we can unload anything else on the way, so we're lighter once we get to the mountains." Erad says. "Even if they've already done something, I'm certain we can undo it."

[20:02] <@Kotono> Pess 28 and 29 pass with clouds and a bit of ice and snow, but no sun. At least it's much warmer, not much below freezing. The 30th dawns colder and with clear skies for a change, letting the pale sun shine down. It's like this that you roll into Allam. The city streets are clear of snow and and you can see a good dozen guards manning the gates into the city. Great snowbanks surround the city
[20:02] <@Kotono> walls, almost as tall as they are.
[20:03] <@Inari> "Lets hope we can leave more easily than we did last time," Inari says, already anticipating that she'll have to fight past all those guards later on.
[20:04] <Annerose> "Entering will certainly be easier considering what we have on top of the wagon," Annerose notes.
[20:04] <@Kotono> "No kidding," T says dryly, "So let's put on a show for this. Got the heads ready?"
[20:05] * Annerose looks up at the ceiling of the cabin.
[20:07] <@Kotono> "I mean do you awnt to make some pagentry out of it," T retorts, looking up as well. "Maybe slide them down, make a show of it."
[20:08] <Annerose> "I think they are impressive enough tied to the roof as huge blocks of transparent ice. Also, getting them back up is needless, thankless work."
[20:08] <@Erad> "It would certainly be a memorable occasion for the people." Erad says with a bit of a smile. "It might lift their spirits."
[20:09] <@Kotono> "Yeah, that," T says, glancing back at Rock, "Besides, we can get Rock and some guards to do it."
[20:09] <@Erad> "We probably only need to drop them off once, really." Erad says. "Just show them to the guards, take them outside the headquarters here and then we can start."
[20:10] <Annerose> "It's true, people do like to see severed heads go flying," Annerose admits. "Though I'm not sure I'm in favor."
[20:11] <@Kotono> "Well, make up your minds already. I want to get in town," Helena says, "I'm thinking I can take a nice, cold bath and sleep on a real bed tonight."
[20:11] <@Inari> "I have no real opinion on how we show off the heads," Inari says, recusing herself from the discussion.
[20:12] <@Inari> "Though I don't care to stay in this town any longer than absolutely necessary," she adds to dash Helena's hopes.
[20:12] <@Kotono> "Hold on a moment, I thought we were going to sell things," T says ,"You know, get filthy rich, equip ourselves."
[20:12] <Annerose> "Let's stay a night?" Annerose suggests. "While keeping our guard up, of course. If someone tries to go after us, we might as well learn of it here."
[20:13] <@Erad> "I think it's important we make sure the people know we're the ones who killed the dragon." Erad says. "So that no one can try and make up a story about it later. Let's just approach, show the guards, then see what happens. If they let us in without trouble, we drop the heads off outside Windor's office, or at his feet, whatever, then we can go from there."
[20:13] <@Erad> "We should at least get that out of the way and then see to selling things -- the people might even regard us better because of it." Erad adds. "Might get better offers or something? I don't know."
[20:13] <@Inari> "Here? wouldn't it be better to do so at a bigger city like Warmfolk or Misty Harbour?"
[20:14] <@Kotono> "Well, we could," T stresses, "But we'd be hauling a full wagon that much farther instead of lightening our load and preparing ourselves."
[20:14] <Annerose> "Perhaps only sell the things taking up the most space? And convert the bronze and silver to gold?"
[20:14] <@Kotono> Meanwhile, you can note that the guards at the gate seem to have taken notice. One's pointing at the wagon top and the heads, the others starting to peer that way.
[20:15] <@Erad> Erad nods to Annerose. "Yes, I think that's a good compromise. We don't have to sell the things we know we can get a better price for elsewhere."
[20:15] <@Inari> "Alright then," Inari shrugs, her objection withdrawn.
[20:16] <@Erad> With things seemingly agreed upon, Erad will guide the wagon towards the gate.
[20:17] <@Kotono> The wagon heads towards the gate. The guards are all pointing and calling out at this, "Stop, stop! Dragon heads! They have dragon heads!"
[20:18] <@Kotono> T waves and calls, "Sure do. Got a pair of 'em, bet Knight Windor would love to see them."
[20:19] <@Erad> Erad will stop the wagon and nod to the guards to acknolwedge that he's not deaf, at least.
[20:21] <@Kotono> "They got them! Do you see those?!" Cheers go up amid the guards, one turning to a younger one - so young he still has pimples, "Go pass word onto the guard and make sure they know to tell Knight Windor and Lord Maggen! Go!"
[20:22] <@Erad> Erad simply turns to his comrades at that and smiles.
[20:22] <@Inari> Inari's smile back is rather fixed, her ears flat upon her head.
[20:22] <@Kotono> "Yeah, we got them," T's grins, eyes darting over to Inari.
[20:23] <@Kotono> The guards stand aside, waving the wagon on in.
[20:23] <@Erad> Erad will guide the wagon in!
[20:26] <@Kotono> From here you head into the city. Word quickly spreads, as guards escort you along and the common folk come out to stare. You get looks, cheers and adoration as you are lead by the guard. As you are, one says, "Follow us, we're probably heading to the Grand Square."
[20:28] <@Inari> "Grand square it is," Inari says, directing the wagon that way.
[20:31] <@Kotono> It's a slow, stately walk. Cheer after cheer follows you, the common folk pointing at your dragon heads. As you head along, Helena murmurs, "This is so nice. If only..."
[20:31] <@Inari> "It's not going to last," Inari warns Helena, voice soft.
[20:32] * Annerose calls upon her cold as she walks, quietly and unobtrusively.
[20:34] <@Erad> Erad turns back and shakes his head. "Don't let anything diminish what we've accomplished," He says quietly. "Or the people who've been saved."
[20:37] <@Kotono> "Steady now," T murmurs as you proceed along. You finally reach the Grand Square after a half hour - a large city square, a bit muddy but clear of snow. It's already packed with people, more looking out nearby buildings. There's a wooden platform here, quite wide and large, more than suitable for people to stand on for speeches and the like. Atop it are two people - Knight Windor and Jack Maggen.
[20:37] <@Kotono> Neither has changed much since the last time. As you're lead to before the platform, Lord Maggen approaches, clapping slowly. "It has been proven once again," His voice carries to all in the square, projecting extremely well. It's like he's speaking right next to you. "Malana did not fall to barbarians, and it will not fall to dragons."
[20:38] <@Erad> Erad glances at the others questioningly.
[20:39] <@Inari> Inari just smiles nicely at the praise as she bids the horses to stop, but her ears remain low against her hair.
[20:40] <@Kotono> T just matches Inari's smile, nodding to his words.
[20:40] <Annerose> "We think of Malana's people and their well-being before anything else, Lord Maggen," Annerose says politely, her voice soft yet carrying as far as his.
[20:40] <@Kotono> Rock looks on in disinterest, sniffing the air.
[20:41] <@Kotono> "So it has been proven," He says, "Let it be known that tomorrow will be a holiday in celebration of this triumph," he declares, "The dragon heads will be displayed at the city gates so that no others dare challenge us." As more cheers come, he pauses. Knight Windor looks on in polite contempt, not quite able to school his features.
[20:41] <@Erad> "It's the duty of any follower of Bahamut to rid the world of evil." Erad says with an air of proudness.
[20:45] <@Kotono> Maggen doesn't even blink. He goes right on, "These brave heroes," he gestures, "Will be the guests of honor at tomorrow's celebration."
[20:49] <@Inari> She may as well speak up, she's a goddess not a wallflower. For all she'd rather spit the man on her spear than bandy words with him, there are others present as well. "We will be happy to share the tale of our victory over the two dragons, it is a thrilling one!" she announces.
[20:51] <@Kotono> Yet more cheers, as Maggen agrees, "Then so it shall be. Celebrate, Allam." He then nods, murmuring words to Knight Windor before departing. Knight Windor steps forward, "Due to the situation with Grimsley House," he announces stiffly, "We instead offer you lodging at an inn of your choice for the evening."
[20:52] <Annerose> "How kind of you, Knight Windor," Annerose responds, all smiles. "The inn we stayed at previously should do, I believe?"
[20:53] <@Kotono> There is a curt nod, then he leaves as well. Guards part the crowd, escorting you along. It's slow going with all the cheers you get, but soon you're at the inn. T murmurs quietly, "So we have a day. What's the plan?"
[20:54] <Annerose> "Work on making our haul more manageable, size and weight-wise? I understand gems are great for that. We'll just have to wait until they try something."
[20:55] <@Inari> "We should stick together," Inari says. "I doubt anything will happen before this celebration but why tempt fate?"
[20:56] <Annerose> "We can still sell things together?"
[20:57] <@Inari> "Of course we can."
[20:57] <Annerose> "Then let's do this! We could rest and relax after, too!"
[21:00] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, shopping interlude then. We'll do this OOC. What's the plan?
[21:01] <Annerose> OOC: Convert the bulkiest stuff and all the small coins (bronze, silver) into something better! Gems work, platinum works, gold if there's no choice.
[21:02] <@Kotono> OOC: Post a list of what you want converted.
[21:04] <Annerose> OOC: Let's do it after and continue for now?
[21:05] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay. Anything else to do be done?
[21:05] <Annerose> OOC: I'd love to upgrade my necklace of natural attacks but it's probably not possible
[21:09] <@Kotono> OOC: Not in this short a perio dof time, no.
[21:09] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay then, moving y'all along.
[21:11] <@Kotono> A day passes. The next morning is thick with snow, the clarity of yesterday gone to heavy storm clouds yet again. As everyone gets together and ready, a maid approaches, "Sirs and ma'ams," she says, "A breakfast has been prepared for you downstairs."
[21:12] <@Inari> "How lovely," Inari smiles at the maid and then to her fellows. "Come, lets fortify ourselves for the day ahead."
[21:13] <@Kotono> A small feast has been laid out - porridge thickened with honey, links of sausage, bits of fruit, toast and fluffy biscuits. It smells good, lots of everything. Helena sniffs, "I was so tired of trail food," she admits, "Weren't you?"
[21:14] <Annerose> "Oh yes. Definitely."
[21:14] <@Kotono> "Yeah, eating around a campfire's old after the second or third time," T takes a seat and starts getting some of everything.
[21:15] * Annerose opts for porridge with honey, further sweetened by fruit.
[21:15] <@Inari> Inari starts filling a plate for herself but she keeps a close eye on Rock for any adverse reactions before she tries tasting any herself.
[21:16] <@Kotono> Rock goes right for the sausage, taking a double handful and chomping down. He doesn't immediately keel over or anything. Meanwhile Helena goes for porridge and sausage.
[21:17] <@Inari> That's enough for Inari to start eating. If anyone does show signs of being poisoned she can cure it readily enough, but it wouldn't do for them all to keel over at once.
[21:18] <@Erad> Erad says a prayer over his food before taking some fruit for himself.
[21:19] <@Inari> On her plate she has some sausage and biscuits, eschewing the porridge as being too much like camp food.
[21:20] <@Kotono> The meal's quite good. It's cooked well and there's more than enough for everyone. Well, except Rock. As everyone's leaning back and enjoying the aftermath of the meal, a guard comes in. "Sirs," he says, bowing his head, "I'm to escort you to see Lord Maggen."
[21:22] <@Inari> "That's an early start, isn't it?" Inari says. "Well, give me a moment to freshen up," she says, excusing herself for some privacy where she can cast detect magic and poison on herself to make sure nothing's awry before she enters the presence of Maggen. The timing of their free breakfast just before meeting him is suspicious.
[21:23] <@Kotono> Inari slips away to freshen herself up. Detect magic and poison return nothing unusual on her.
[21:24] <@Inari> She's probably just being paranoid but this town sets her on edge. Once suitably refreshed she returns, ready for their noble visit!
[21:28] <@Kotono> From here you're escorted to a pair of gilded carriages and soon to a pleasant villa in the center of the city. It's tucked away at the end of a street, a gate hiding a small lawn and impressively large place. You're taken up to the third floor (top floor) and into a room. It's dominated by a table long enough to sit four dozen, the walls full of paintings of rich-looking nobles. At the far end
[21:28] <@Kotono> sits Jack Maggen,  and off in a corner sits a scribe. He has a small desk and supplies at hand, as if ready to write. "Sit," Maggen says, more a command than a suggestion.
[21:29] <Annerose> "Good morning, Lord Maggen," Annerose says by way of greeting, taking a seat opposite him.
[21:30] <@Inari> Inari sits on Annerose's left. "Rock, come sit by me," she urges the troll.
[21:31] <@Kotono> Rock does just that, while T sits a bit away and Helena between T and the others.
[21:31] <@Erad> Erad decides to sit for the time being.
[21:32] <@Kotono> "Congratulations on your victory," he says, right to the point, "Tell me what occured and what happened. There is a sickness in Allam and the surrounding areas, one that must be excised."
[21:34] <@Erad> Erad's brow briefly furrows at that statement.
[21:36] <@Inari> "It started simply enough," Inari says, seeing no reason to hold back. It's not as if Maggen will change his ways from it. "We heard stories of people going missing near the bridges, and so investigated overnight where we saw two dragonblooded appear and try to abduct a homeless man. We drove off one and captured the other, which swiftly lead us to Grimsley House, which was full of more
[21:36] <@Inari> dragonblooded. In the course of our investigation the dragon in human form revealed itself, shattering the structure before flying up and bombarding it with magic to finish any within - likely killing a slew of its own followers at that while we escaped outside."
[21:38] <@Kotono> At that Maggen raises a hand, "I'm interested in what happened after that," he says curtly. "After you left Allam."
[21:39] <Annerose> "We've come across stories of this dragon before, so collating the information gave us a rough idea where to look for him. Happily, we were rewarded for our persistence and found the dragon's lair, not to mention his mate."
[21:40] <@Inari> Inari lets Annerose take over at this point, leaning back. It needed to be said to cover them for the death of the local lord anyway.
[21:44] <@Kotono> "The location of it?" Maggen asks, "Most dragons have tamed kobolds or goblins nearby, as well as other hazards that need to be exterminated."
[21:45] <Annerose> "I assure you, Lord Maggen, that the hazards have been dealt with most thoroughly. We wouldn't have it any other way, of course."
[21:48] <@Kotono> "I insist," The way he says it brooks no argument, "There willb e no chance of a recurrance." He meets Annerose's gaze with his own, one of cold pressure. A presence to him, a force when she meets his eyes.
[21:50] <Annerose> "Very well," Annerose seems to concede. "I merely wish to save the administration from wasting time, but it needn't be my own choice. It is a cave, well-hidden... but not enough, and especially not after what we've done," she says, giving him directions to their ambush site.
[21:54] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a Bluff check, Annerose.

[21:59] <@Kotono> Maggen's largely quiet as you finish, "Very well," he says, "Is there anything else to add?"
[22:00] <@Inari> "You'll hear a more dramatic retelling of it all tonight I'm sure," Inari smiles blandly. "But there it is in essence, yes."
[22:01] <Annerose> "Apparently, when a dragon transforms into a human form and then back into a dragon, the clothing of that human form is absorbed inside his dragon body," Annerose muses. "We probably shouldn't mention that tonight."
[22:01] <@Inari> "Certainly not while people are eating, no."
[22:01] <Annerose> "Good thing we've already had a very nice breakfast, then!"
[22:02] <@Erad> "Actually, I have a question." Erad says, finally speaking up. "I didn't think to ask this last time, but have you ever been to or heard of a small town called Ailan?"

[22:05] <Penuche> Kotono invokes Penuche's magic: < 33 >12 [d20=18]
[22:06] <@Kotono> Lord Maggen nods slightly, "It's to the east, I believe," he says, "Near Warmfolk?"
[22:07] <@Erad> "Yes, that's correct. As you may or may not know, we have a grove there." Erad says. "It wasn't so long ago that it was cursed, turning itself into a frozen, barren place. It was an awful sight to have to live near."
[22:08] <@Kotono> "Curses are unpleasant, yes," Jack Maggen says, not blinking in the slightest.
[22:08] <@Erad> "I just thought to ask... who would do something like that? Why would anyone come and curse an entire grove and murder everything that lived there?" Erad asks. "It just seems... well, it's irrelevant now -- the curse was broken and life was restored to it."
[22:09] <@Erad> "I just can't understand why someone would do that. Sorry, I wanted to make sure that, despite the dragon-slaying, these individuals were recognized for saving our small town from the clutches of a frozen wasteland." Erad adds.
[22:11] <@Kotono> "I don't know," he says, "The perpetrator is likely dead in any case now. Since it has recovered, there's nothing more to be done there."
[22:12] <@Erad> "We can only hope someone who would do such a perverse thing receices divine judgement." Erad agrees. "My apologies, sometimes I get homesick."
[22:14] <@Kotono> "Understood," Maggen says, "You can go now, the celebration is not until past noon."
[22:17] <@Inari> "Thank you for the hospitality," Inari says, rising up to depart.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[20:00] <@Kowork> OOC: So y'all seem to have survived your chat with Maggen. Any moves after that?
[20:01] <Annerose> OOC: He survived his chat with us  >_>
[20:01] <Annerose> OOC: We're sticking to our plan of telling the story at the celebration, being friendly and seeing where things go
[20:02] <@Erad> OOC: I think we were just going to take care of the sales/conversions to gems, but that can be done on the board if it hasn't been done already
[20:02] <Annerose> OOC: It already happened offscreen, we'll handle it on the board over the week
[20:04] <@Kowork> OOC: Okay.

[20:09] <@Kowork> Thus you soon return to the inn and then to the celebration - the streets around the Grand Square are decorated, everything spread out and ready for celebration. The streets are as clear as they can be under the snow as possible, many braving the cold to celebrate. OOC: Okay, since y'all wanna make an entrance and talk here, goa head and set yourselves up a bit here and I'll move you along.
[20:12] <@Inari> Inari doesn't see any point dressing up - the clothes she wore to fight the dragon are good enough, though thankfully laundered last night. "So, are we going to share any dragonslaying tips?" she wonders so they can get their stories straight. Mentioning the guardian won't really work since he's now at where they're claiming the lair was.
[20:13] <Annerose> "Meticulous preparations would make for a boring story, so how about embellishing that portion?" Annerose muses. "With luck, persistence and divine favor," she continues, winking at Inari, "we managed to track down the dragon in his cave, where we confronted it!"
[20:15] <@Inari> "And the kobolds all fought bravely to the death to protect their foolish master?"
[20:16] <Annerose> "To the last," Annerose agrees. "They rushed Rock in waves! And they cried out, in fear and then, in horror! But the dragon executed any who gave a quarter!"
[20:16] <@Erad> "The only thing I'd add is not all dragons are evil, but I doubt that part matters much." Erad says.
[20:17] <Annerose> "As the dragon served Tiamat, you serve Bahamut," Annerose agrees. "I'm sure you could work that in."
[20:19] <@Kowork> "Workable," T says, "Just don't overload anything. Keep the story moving."
[20:19] <@Erad> "Wonder how many Aurilites we're going to be witness to." Erad says with a shrug. "Maybe we can convert some to Inari...ism? Did your followers have a name for that?" Erad asks with a glance over at her.
[20:20] <@Inari> "Inarite was the term used for my most devoted followers," Inari cheerfully informs Erad.
[20:21] <Annerose> "What sort of magic did you give them?" Annerose asks curiously.
[20:23] <@Inari> "I wouldn't say I 'gave' them it, aside from the odd item I made and bestowed to those who pleased me particularly," Inari shakes her head, "Any who could cast spells of their own did so as much through hard work and practice as from faith. But my followers favoured spells that protect and deceive, as well as those that aid one in living with nature."
[20:25] <Annerose> "Fascinating! Did you ever try cooperative magic in a great ritual?"
[20:27] <@Kowork> T listens along, while Helena politely nods at the right places and mostly stares off at the falling snow.
[20:27] <@Inari> "Sorry, there was never any need for anything like that," Inari shakes her head, a wistful smile on her lips as she recalls happier times. "At any one time there'd only be two or three devoted actually staying at my temple. Others would come from the nearby village and sometimes farther afield to make offerings in exchange for blessings or wisdom, but great feats of magic were never really
[20:27] <@Inari> required."
[20:29] <Annerose> "They seem to be required in the here and now," Annerose muses. "All those Aurilite rituals... maybe we can do one ourselves? Lead the people here, like we did for Erad's village?"
[20:29] <@Kowork> "Yeah, 'cept we need one of our own to do. All the people this side of Warmfolk doesn't do much if we don't know how." T adds.
[20:30] <Annerose> "We've got time before we're supposed to perform. So how about finding something to make it a warmer or more pleasant winter, and drawing the crowd in along with the story?"
[20:30] <@Inari> "T's right, back there we were really just bringing Eldath and the villagers back together. You'd need to make up a ritual whole cloth for whatever it is you want to achieve, and I wouldn't know where to start with that."
[20:31] <Annerose> "Maybe Eldath would like to expand her influence?" Annerose suggests, thinking about any possible approaches.
[20:31] <Annerose> OOC: If there's some knowledge check for a plausible approach, I'd appreciate it. If not, I'll just drop it for now.
[20:32] <@Erad> "If we wanted to do something like that, the best place would probably be Shining Light." Erad says.
[20:33] <@Erad> OOC: In addition, would it be K:R or K:H for any historical religions used in this part of Malana?
[20:34] <@Kowork> OOC: K:A, Annerose. Either but K:R woudl be easier, Erad.
[20:35] <Annerose> roll 1d20+14+5 let's see if we can turn another celebration into something more~
[20:35] <Penuche> Annerose invokes Penuche's magic: < 30 > [d20=11]

[20:35] <Penuche> Erad invokes Penuche's magic: < 26 > [d20=15]
[20:38] <@Kowork> Annerose knows that this sort of thing takes time, research and experimentation. Unless one blunders onto a fully developed ritual or is givne direct guidance, you can't really just pull one out of thin air.
[20:39] * Annerose snaps her fingers. "No divine inspiration. But we might want to think about this. Why give the Aurilites all the initiative?"
[20:39] <@Kowork> Tyr once on a time. A dash of Eldath perhaps, some Lathander and a lot of smaller ones over the year. Some Gond now that you think about it, but he faded even before the real decline started.
[20:41] <@Erad> Erad nods to Annerose. "It's not quite like Ailan, there's a mix of a few, Tyr, Eldath, Lathander, even Gond. Lots of other smaller ones. If we wanted to do it, we'd probably have to get a little from everyone to get the people involved."
[20:44] <@Kowork> "Right," T agrees, "So anyway, are we all ready to head on out to this?"
[20:44] <Annerose> "Let's go~"
[20:45] <@Erad> Erad nods. "Yes, I think we'll just have to see how it plays out and do the evangelizing as needed."
[20:48] <@Kowork> Thus the party finally heads out. The streets around the Grand Square are decorated, everything spread out and ready for celebration. The streets are as clear as they can be under the snow as possible, many braving the cold to celebrate. A path is made to you, a table on the raised platform full of feasting foods. Maggen, Knight Windor and a few others are up there. In the square are celebrations
[20:48] <@Kowork> - dancers, drinking, eating, that manner of thing.
[20:51] <@Erad> Erad does his best to keep a neutral expression, inwardly feeling as if they're marching to something grim.
[20:51] <@Inari> Inari smiles and waves to any who catch her eye as she makes her way up to the table of honour, claiming a seat as far from Maggen and Windor as she can, with preference to avoid Windor if they're apart.
[20:52] * Annerose looks quite cheerful, getting into the holiday spirit and for a change having left her shield and armor behind. As Inari takes a seat, she grins at Helena and T and claims the one by her side.
[20:53] <@Kowork> T smiles and nods along, Helena more energetic about it. She wears her armor but waves in the right places, going to sit next to Annerose. Rock just stomps along, getting a wide berth as he sniffs the air. His tail twitches as he smells the food, going right towards it.
[20:54] <@Kowork> Jack Maggen merely glances the party's way with a short nod to Knight Windor. Windor stands and stiffly bows to them, ever so shallowly. "Have a seat."
[20:54] <@Erad> Erad will just take whatever seat is left after the others take theirs.
[20:55] <@Inari> "You are most gracious," Inari says, having been doing just that. "Please forgive Rock his robust appetite. He's not much for conversation but he certainly adores his food."
[20:56] <Annerose> "A healthy attitude to have for such a celebration!" Annerose chirps.
[21:00] <@Kowork> Knight Windor merely replies with a sharp nod. Once everyone's seated, Maggen rises. He raises his voice loud enough to carry, "And now, celebrate!" he declares, the feast laid out for one and all.
[21:01] <@Kowork> T makes up a plate right away, "So hey, Windor," he says, all casual, "Eating first and storytelling later?"
[21:02] <Annerose> "Would you like to be the dragon in our story?" Annerose kindly offers.
[21:03] <@Inari> Inari grabs a plate herself and starts filling it up mostly with meat and just a little bit of roughage. "This is quite the feast, I had feared we'd be facing a lean Winter," she comments.
[21:08] <@Kowork> Knight Windor says stiffly, "Lord Maggen has graciously provided."
[21:09] <@Kowork> Jack Maggen glances over at that, "A trifling matter like food can be managed," he says, "My holdings are prosperous, winter or summer."
[21:10] <Annerose> "How thoughtful! I haven't even considered asking until now, but such is the difference between a humble traveler and an administrator," Annerose muses, gathering food of the sweet variety to her plate and starting on it.
[21:10] <@Inari> Inari frowns slightly and peers at the meat on her plate. This hasn't come from one of those awful tribute things has it?
[21:11] <@Erad> Erad meanwhile just says a prayer as he glances at the others and watches them eat.
[21:11] <@Kowork> For a moment, Inari swears she sees a flash of frost across her beef. Then she blinks and it's gone - surely just her imagination, right
[21:11] <@Kowork> ?
[21:12] <@Kowork> T just shrugs and keeps eating, while Helena glances sidelong at him, "How fortunate for you, sir."
[21:12] <@Inari> Her eyes are pretty keen, it's likely not her imagination at all. Does it smell strange?
[21:15] <@Kowork> The food smells normal to her. It's meat. Beef to be precise, well enough prepared. Seasoned a bit too, so you also get a whiff of that.
[21:16] <@Inari> She'll just ask then. "I trust this came from a farm and not from tribute, then?"
[21:19] * Tohsaka (uid69210@charlton.irccloud.com) Quit (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)
[21:21] <@Kowork> "Tribute?" Maggen frowns, "Do you mean taxes? No, the food came from my private holdings." He gives Inari a disinterested look, returning to his own meal. After a few bites, "Nor are they from Kabath's tributes, those have been focused further west and north."
[21:23] <@Erad> Erad shifts slightly and glances at Inari to see if she's going to push the matter further.
[21:23] * Annerose nibbles on another frozen treat, for all appearances blissfully unaware of any tension.
[21:25] <@Inari> "And when they were butchered, how were they cut? Were any names said over them? Such as..." and she lists some of the names and methods of slicing the sacrificed animal she recalls from reading the book upon the matter a while ago.
[21:27] <@Kotono> "I wouldn't have the foggiest," Maggen replies slowly, "I assume they were butchered however they normally are." With dry disinterest, "Is this a matter of interest for you?"
[21:29] <@Inari> "Oh yes, I read a disturbing book about traditions I understand are now common in Southern parts of Malana, and I've seen the results of it myself a time or two. Perhaps I'm merely being oversensitive however," she concedes. Auril probably wouldn't want her tributes to be cooked after all, right? Right. She eats some of her meal, ears low against her head.
[21:30] <@Kotono> T leans in close to Inari and murmurs, "Down girl. Not the time."
[21:31] <@Inari> Inari just nods miserably, feeling trapped despite all the celebration.
[21:32] <@Kotono> If Lord Maggen finds that last comment interesting, he doesn't show it, returning to his food. After some more feasting, he rises. A few soldiers banging swords on shields makes a din that silences the crowd, "Now then," he says, "We will all hear the story of bravery that has two dragon heads now adoring Allam."
[21:33] <@Erad> "As loathe as I am to play the part, I don't mind acting as the dragon." Erad says with a bit of a resigned sigh.
[21:33] <Annerose> "Oh, don't worry about that, Lord Maggen thought of everything!"
[21:33] <@Inari> "We're not going to act it out, are we?"
[21:34] <@Kotono> Attention turns all on the table, as Lord Maggen says, "Our heroes will tell of their tale of bravery," he announces, "Stand and speak."
[21:37] <@Inari> Inari stands up, and gestures for Rock to do the same. "Come on Rock, stand up and turn around so everyone can see how handsome you are," she urges the troll with a smile, raising her voice afterwards. "Hello everyone! I'm Inari, this big fellow is Rock, the two lovely ladies with us are Annerose and Helena, and there's our distinctive Erad, and last but not least is T," she introduces the group.
[21:37] <@Inari> "I'm sure a lot of you saw the dragon when it flew up above the town not so many days ago - it certainly gave us a fright! But of course that didn't stop us from following its flight and tracking the great beast to his lair..."
[21:43] <@Erad> Erad stands up and gives a small nod in a few directions. "As some of you may know, green dragons are followers of Tiamat. There are two primary dragon deities -- though of course there are many others, but the two primary are Bahamut and Tiamat. Bahamut is a champion of good dragons and Tiamat a champion of evil ones." Erad says. "As you might've guessed, I follow Bahamut -- by that is a story
[21:43] <@Erad> for another time. Suffice to say, as a green dragon -- and an elder one at that, this one was quite the challenge. He had very potent magical spells that we all had to weather. However, my allies--" he gestures to them at this. "Were instrumental in keeping us all going during the confrontation."
[21:49] <Annerose> "Finding the lair made it all possible," Annerose picks up from there. "For something so grand and powerful, the dragon was a cowardly sort. He hid his tracks well-- but not well enough!" She throws her arms aside. "We came too close, and he directed kobolds against us as he cowered behind them, wave after wave! And they fell in droves, but he wouldn't allow a retreat! Waiting, hiding behind his wards! But finally we broke through the minions and it was time for that dragon to pay for his crimes against the fair citizens of Malana!"
[21:54] <@Inari> "No doubt you all saw what the dragon did to Grimley House - aloft with wing and spell it was a fearsome foe! But it placed too much faith in its minions, too much faith in the sanctity of its lair. When we finally confronted the wyrm he cried in outrage, cornered by stone and spell of his own design! With spear and spell we pressed our attack, and a grim realisation dawned in the emerald dragon's
[21:54] <@Inari> eyes. It was a courageous effort I can admit even for an enemy. Marshalling all his strength he heaved himself upwards and shattered the roof of his own home, breaking free to the sky! But we had wings of our own - you can see Erad's there, and with summoned mounts others were able to take chase after the desperate dragon, bringing it down in a hectic melee a hundred feet in the sky whereupon
[21:54] <@Inari> his body plummeted with a great and thunderous crash, dead and never to harm an innocent again!"
[21:58] <@Kotono> Cheers and loud clapping follows. The crowd erupts in priase, overshadowing all else as the snow continues to fall from above. Jack Maggen looks slightly amused, while Knight Windor wears the same stony mask of polite contempt. "And that," T calls out, raising his voice, "Is how the Torch Bearers kicked dragon ass from here to Misty Harbor!"
[22:02] <@Inari> "But of course, there are two heads aren't there?" Inari speaks up as the cheers die down. "Flush with victory we set off from the lair only for our journey to be interrupted by a cry of outrage - for even dragons know love, and his mate was enraged beyond reason by what she saw decorating our wagon. No clever spells or strategems her, just the pure fury of a grieving lover. And so we tested
[22:02] <@Inari> our mettle once more, pushing ourselves to the limit against draconic scale and claw. But her fury made her sloppy, and perhaps in her grief she even sought to join her mate? Who can know for sure but Tiamat and Bahamut. However by the end we stood victorious once more!"
[22:04] <@Kotono> The cheers get even louder at all of this, Jack Maggen glancing over as they do. He quietly asks, "Lord Househaven will be pleased with your performance," he remarks, "How will you follow it up?"
[22:06] <@Inari> "Two dragons could range all across Malana without fear, even putting their claws into the houses of nobility. Who knows what else lies in hidden places out there? We Torch Bearers will shine a light on all of them, this we vow!"
[22:09] <@Erad> Erad glances to Jack at that but doesn't say anything. The last time he spoke off the cuff it got them in trouble. Well, sort of, it ended up working out rather well...
[22:12] <@Kotono> "Good hunting," Jack Maggen offers, returning to his meal. OOC: Anythinge lse y'all wanna do here?
[22:12] <@Inari> OOC: I'm good
[22:13] <Annerose> OOC: We're good
[22:15] <@Kotono> The long, stressful feast winds down, the party returning to the inn. Helena sighs once you get inside, "Whew," she mutters, "That bastard's just content to sit there and act like nothing's wrong. Good hunting, he says!"
[22:15] <Annerose> "He's forewarned, so it's probably a threat."
[22:15] <@Erad> "He's an incredible actor." Erad says. "He didn't even tip his hand at all about following Auril."
[22:16] <@Inari> "We're in a very awkward position," Inari admits, sighing and sitting down on a bed. "He probably didn't even have anything planned, just came out here to watch us stew and know that if anything happened to him the entire town would rise against us."
[22:16] * Annerose blinks, before shaking her hand back and forth. "I don't know. Remarkably few people yell out at the top of their lungs that yes, they're the evil mastermind. Or hiss and flinch when they hear their evil deeds brought to light."
[22:17] <@Kotono> OOC: Quick question, whose room are yo uin?
[22:17] <Annerose> OOC: Ours!
[22:17] <@Kotono> OOC: The ladies room then? Inari, would you kindly make a survival check?

[22:18] <@Kotono> Hm. That's odd. Inari can smell sulphur in this room, a foul stench. Either one of you is being silent but deadly or something foul is in here.
[22:19] <@Erad> "Yes, of course, I wasn't expecting him to stand up and say 'What, the grove in Ailan, I cursed it myself!' or something." Erad says with a shake of his head. "But at the same time, it isn't as if following Auril is an unpopular thing." He shrugs. "I don't know, Windor seemed more bothered by the whole thing than he did."
[22:20] <Annerose> "That's because he is, in fact, one of those rare people!"
[22:20] <@Inari> "What is that smell?" Inari frowns and gets up. "It's like someone's planning on casting a really big fireball..." Wait what if they are? Well she has spells to spare, and quickly casts mass resist energy (fire) on Helena, Annerose, Rock, and Erad while she hunts out the source of the smell.
[22:21] <Annerose> At the mention of a fireball, Annerose comes to a window and opens it!
[22:21] <@Kotono> "Not me," T says, as he startles at Inari's quick actions. He draws his dagger as she follows the smell. Inari's lead right to Annerose's bed. It's under her pillow, she thinks.
[22:22] <@Inari> The pillow is lifted!
[22:22] * Annerose leans outside into the street to look around!
[22:22] <@Erad> Erad tilts his head at Inari since he doesn't smell anything. "You're the one with the good nose." He shrugs and goes over to wait by the door. He'll at least block it if someone suddenly casts it open and shouts 'surprise, fireball!' or something.
[22:28] <@Kotono> The street's fairly unremarkable. Under the pillow is a tiny red humanoid, carrying a sharp trident. It has a curved, malicious smile on its face...which falls as the pillow is lifted up. It utters words none of you know, but that sound rather unhappy.
[22:29] <@Inari> Rock wouldn't even have to chew this thing. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" Inari asks, unimpressed.
[22:30] <@Erad> Erad simply tilts his head to the other side. The hell is that thing?

[22:32] <@Kotono> Ah, this. An imp, a tiny and extremely minor devil. You know, from Hell. A fiend. Evil incarnate. Bad guy. Baaaaad. Usually end up dead as a result of a paladin smiting them or a demon eating them.
[22:32] <@Kotono> The creature considers for a good few moments, "Pillow cleaning?" It offers in Common.
[22:32] <@Inari> "You're doing a bad job, you've made it smell."
[22:33] <@Erad> "I can't tell if this is a joke or not." Erad says. "Who summoned you from Hell?"
[22:34] * Annerose looks over towards her pillow and then just stares.
[22:34] <@Kotono> T comes on over, sitting on the bed right next to it. "So why Annerose? No snow in Hell and they're jealous, or did some madman want to kill her?"
[22:35] <@Kotono> The imp shakes his head, "No! Won't tell, don't want to be a lemure again!"
[22:37] <@Erad> "Oh for the love of..." Erad pinches his brow. "I'll just send it back to Hell with a smite from Bahamut, then."
