"Smrgol, if you please?" Afina steps clear after trying the door. She could search the harpies for a key but why bother?

Another door opens by force, a narrow and winding tunnel ahead. It looks to small for Smrgol on a glance, though it's big enough for the rest of you.

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.

Nothing to see here

Anastasia

Okay, minor miscommunication. Still summoning umber hulks?

Ebiris

Yes, I wasn't sure what part was objectionable so I erred on the side of caution. I'll redo my post.

"It's time we stopped being such courteous guests," Afina declares after getting a look down the too small passageway. "Keep watch for me everyone? This'll take a short while," she says, heading back into the lower level to score out a summoning diagram with a fire from her fingertip, its charred markings glowing pale blue as she imbues a magic circle against evil into it.

Magic Circle Against Evil used as summoning trap, DC 20 spellcraft can't fail

Once that's done she begins casting greater planar binding to call forth some helpful excavatars!

Summoning 2 8hd half-fiend umber hulks.

Make a Spellcraft check. Unrelated to the summoning circle.

Should be +43 so 48

Anastasia

As you begin the summoning ritual, you can detect disturbances in your spell weave. The long casting time gives you a chance to see things are wrong and off, with local interference making summoning twitchy at best. You could proceed, but your spell could be modified or disrupted.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

She'll carry on anyway, the binding circle will keep anything unwelcome from being a threat and she really does want something that can bash down the walls around here.

Anastasia

Okay, make another spellcraft check then.

It's difficult and impossible for a lesser spellcaster, but Afina has been tempered greatly. Such variance is able to be controlled and minimized. The two umber hulks that appear are oddly distorted, as if seen through a twisted mirror. But they're intact and appear as commanded.

They are horrible mutant crossbreeds so Afina isn't too fussed about their looks. "I have summoned you here to provide a service in excavation for me lasting no more than one full day. In exchange I will compensate each of you two potions from this selection," she walks over and takes each vial off the magic disc and places them before the summoning circle. "Are these terms agreeable?"

The two chitter and burble to one another, before one replies in Terran, "Acceptable."

Dana watches on, disinterested, while Mei scowls deeply as she watches the creatures like a hawk.

"Good, the potions are yours," Afina says, leaning over and swiping a hand through the diagram to break it, setting the fiendish insectoid horrors loose. "Widen out the path beyond that door so that Smrgol can pass easily. If any danger appears, wait behind Smrgol until it is dealt with." She points at the crystalline dragon so they know who Smrgol is.
