Is there any easy way to check something like that to see if it has anything in it?

Certainly, it's called opening it and checking.

[Nephrite]

Moore opens the bag to see if there's anything in it!

Moore opens up the bag. Nothing's in there.

[Nephrite]

Aww! Well, a free bag is still nice.

"It's a bag of holding." Moore says as he goes to now check the compartment under the bed.

[Anastasia]

Within this compartment is a golden locket shaped like a heart. Pretty enough, one supposes. It's not magical.

[Nephrite]

Moore opens it! Maybe there's a hidden message inside!

[Anastasia]

There is a tiny scrap of paper - no. It's a little bit of paper, folded over and over again.

[Nephrite]

Moore will try and unfold it to read it!

[Anastasia]

It reads as follows.

Grtvi, orlm, xlftzi, kzmgsvi.

[Nephrite]

Moore blinks and shows Ilsenine. "It's either a language I've never seen, or... maybe it's a code." Moore says as he looks at the letters again. "Hmm... It's not just backwards... I don't think they're just moved around, either, so... Hmmm..." Moore rubs his chin again. "Maybe letters are replaced with others..."

"A code?" Ilsenine asks, "Do you have any skill with code breaking?"
