Glorivaineth's Journal

This book appears to a diary kept by Gloria over the past year. Its entries are copious and carefully dated, and the penmanship in elven is flowing and elegant. Reading it all in detail would likely occupy the better part of a day, but scanning recent months for names and events relevant to your investigation turns up several incidents of note:

-The earlier entries for this year seem preoccupied with business matters and wrangling with the weavers' guild's persistent efforts to erect bureaucratic roadblocks to her professional operations. She seems to have done consistent business with a loyal clientele of well-to-do ladies, regardless. With more frustration, but a wearied sort of acceptance, she also reports persistent insults and public abuse perpetrated by three of the guild's local apprentices. She does provide names here: Sergio Montes, Enrique Glaciano, and Rafael Figueroa. Complaints were duly lodged with each's master with, in Gloria's view, predictably negligible result. It would be easy to find their workshops based on Gloria's descriptions here.

-Gloria spent two months away from home during the summer, in which time she retreated east to Halinai for spiritual rejuvenation. She reports finding the elven enclave a more unsettled place now than in memory, in large part due to a young spiritualist energetically proselytizing amongst the young, sharply dividing the older residents from their children in response to his message. Even here, Gloria does not detail exactly what gospel this "Yulieleranwyn" (the name means "Winter Leaf" in elven) was in town to spread. She describes it only as a sympathetic folly, and the orator himself as both flattering and fervently determined, but ultimately unconvincing to her more experienced ears. Gloria's candid appraisal is that Yuli was likely a half-elf taking considerable pains to present himself as a full-blooded elf.

-Gloria's later entries report escalating harassment and intimidation after her return to Solfrina. The apprentices, she notes, seem to act now without fear of reprisal. She writes off Isabel's insistence that she should speak to the city authorities as a position of charming naivete—Gloria was certain that no corrective action would be taken, considering that the apprentices in question had quickly become chief drinking buddies and sycophants of the new Solfrina Militia captain.
