'Well said.' Tryll says, rejoining the group. 'My apologies, I was lost in thought. We are prepared to leave when needed, though.'

Calleigh zips over as well, "Just had a thought. We shoulda asked the Queen if she wanted to help!"
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Ebiris

"We fey have our own ways," Afina says, shaking her head. "But I can respect Celestia's virtues."

Nephrite

Moore takes in a breath as he makes a silent prayer for Crystal and Baleruk's well-being.

Corwin

"What's the news from the Cauldron?" Jaela asks Vul'lath, pleased with the responses from Tryll and Crystal but focusing on the immediate issue.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

Sylvie merely nods to Tryll's words.

"They have managed a beachhead and are succeeding," Vul'lath says, "For now, the initiative is on our side."
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Corwin

"Excellent. In that case, we'll continue to wait for a counterattack in strength."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

All present PCs and the NPCs that are likely to deploy to heavy fighting are included in the tapestry up to a total of 9.
Tapestry:

Elemental Body (fire) CL 28, 28 hour duration
Spoiler: ShowHide
You have the benefits of the attune form spell with respect to the appropriate element. If you choose a water body, for example, you can breathe normally on water-dominant planes.
You are immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, and stunning, and are not subject to extra damage from critical hits or flanking. You gain darkvision out to 60 feet.
Your creature type remains unchanged, so you are unaffected by spells that target elementals, but you gain the air, earth, fire, or water subtype depending on the elemental substance you chose.
Fire: Fire immunity, burn (those you hit in melee and those who attack you with natural weapons must make a Reflex save or catch fire, with a save DC equal to that of a fire elemental of the same size).

Epic Mage Armor CL 28, 24 hour duration
Spoiler: ShowHide
An invisible but tangible field of force surrounds the subject of epic mage armor, providing a +20 armor bonus to Armor Class. Unlike mundane armor, epic mage armor entails no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or speed reduction. Because epic mage armor is made of force, incorporeal creatures can't bypass it the way they do normal armor.

Moment of Prescience CL 28, 28 hour duration
Spoiler: ShowHide
This spell grants you a powerful sixth sense in relation to yourself. Once during the spell's duration, you may choose to use its effect. This spell grants you an insight bonus equal to your caster level (maximum +25) on any single attack roll, opposed ability or skill check or saving throw. Alternatively, you can apply the insight bonus to your AC against a single attack (even if flat-footed). Activating the effect doesn't take an action; you can even activate it on another character's turn if needed. You must choose to use the moment of prescience before you make the roll it is to modify. Once used, the spell ends.

Bibliotheca Arcana, CL 28, 24 hour duration
Spoiler: ShowHide
You gain a +15 insight bonus to all knowledge checks and may make knowledge checks untrained. This knowledge extends to knowledge of your own life. You have perfect recall of your own memories for the duration of the spell. Effects that change your memories, such as modify memory or mind rape, are suppressed for the duration of the spell. You gain the ability to read and speak all languages during this time as if affected by a comprehend languages and tongues spell. Finally, you may instantly absorb the information of any written material you touch, as if by a scholar's touch spell. For the duration of the spell, you have perfect recall of the material read in this manner.

Surraruthru turns to Jaela, "Do not forget the past tactics. Twice now they've drawn us into battles, let us get close to the heart of what we want and tried to use it to destroy us. First Benfal, then Gar-Malleos. They will do it again as soon as the core Generals take the field, I suspect. As much as Lifasa is the treasure, the Devils have suffered greatly from Aurora. You all have been in this fight far longer than I have; they know you're the real strength in this fight. And they know that Aurora itself is the symbol of this fight."

Surraruthru sighs and looks back to the illusions of the battle, "The question is where and what... It will have to be mobile since they don't know where you'll take the field... They tried the assassins and it failed, but... I wonder... A group of assassins designed to be expendable and simply hold you in an area until whatever they designed can get to you? Hmm... The same for Aurora, likely. I wonder..."

Surraruthru falls into a quiet study of the battlefield, musing on the possibilities.

"Vul'lath, with how long the Devils have been here, how much do you think they could have affected the Ley Lines? Do we know where the other Ley Line Nexus' are? Do they have fortresses built on them as well? If they detonated one already and there are fortresses on the others, those are likely their scorched earth trigger locations, I think. Could they also have manipulated the Ley Lines to draw power from them? If so, what are they using it for..."

Yuthirin

'Surraruthru is right.' Tryll agrees, 'There's no reason they wouldn't try it again on Lifasa and indeed it looks like they already are. It's a trap we know about, and we need to be ready for it. While we disable whatever trick they're using on the ley lines in Gar Malleos, I suggest you all be on guard and looking for them to bog both our forces and the Aurora itself down. As for what they're doing, hopefully we can figure that out before they actually do it.'
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Anastasia

"It's a concern," Sylvie concurs, glancing back at Afina.

Iddy, Sage Vul'lath is still in the command center, Jaela just protected an illusion to the gate since she's busy there. Vul'lath did not.

Maybe a Diviner to check the ley lines."

"Have Balyss do it, she's the best we have right now," Sylvie speaks up, "And yeah, you should know Gar Malleos is likely a trap if you go back. The devils aren't stupid."

Moore opens his mouth to say something, then lets out a relieved sigh. 'What's going on up there, Crystal?' Moore sends to her.

Anastasia

'Some manner of aberration. Baleruk handily overcame it,' Crystal says, 'It seemed highly vulnerable to his breath weapon.'

'All right. Nothing is happening down here so far, I don't think they were expecting a direct assault on their fortress.' Moore sends to her with a look and a smile at Ilsenine. 'Even so, be prepared in case they try and detonate that place or something.'
