"Have you heard the myths of how I made Razalim?" Kassim asks right back, "Of breathing in smoke and pounding it into a sword?"

[Corwin]

"My knowledge of the rumors surrounding the scimitar amount to the following," Seira responds, before listing them. "It was an early work of yours, and the base of the blade is said to be a tongue.If true, the two main sources suggested by legend are a charismatic red dragon and a pit fiend. Apparently, you tossed it into a boiling vat of silver mined deep in Fire, then superheated the pair so that the tongue and metal turned into a cloud of smoke." She pauses here. "Breathing in this smoke and blowing it out is indeed how you're said to have forged it, by pounding this smoke into the shape of a large scimitar."

[Anastasia]

"I made Razalim from silver mined from the heart of Fire," Kassim says, "I did breathe it in, but no tongue was involved." A dry snort at that, "An embellishment because of the blade's abilities, I have no doubt."

[Corwin]

"It does provide a plausible explanation for a curse," Seira muses. "Silver, huh? Forgive my ignorance in this, Kassim, but is it different when mined from the heart of Fire?"

[Anastasia]

"I think I see," Amaryl murmurs, "If Fire tilts towards evil and you took it from Fire itself...?"

To this Kassim nods, "It may be so," he says, "It's one of the ideas I have. The blade came out wrong, distorted. I had no great plan in mind for it when I made it, yet it took on a shape and form of its own."

[Corwin]

"In that case, why isn't it happy with evil owners who are of Fire? Assuming the curse is causing Razalim to change hands due to misfortune falling upon the bearer."

[Anastasia]

"I don't know," Kassim says, "Many have assumed much, and the few that know the truth disagree as to the cause." Pointing one flame-scarred finger at you, "The fools who come to ask of it I brush away, because they meddle and lust for a treasure best left forgotten." His expression turns to a smile, "A truly wise soul asked me for a blade I made instead, so that he would have a worthy weapon and could forsake his interest in Razalim."

[Corwin]

"I really would like that," Seira admits. "Still, managing to turn Razalim around would be a victory on the most important level that exists in Creation. If Fire is twisted right now, as Amaryl suggested, then fixing even the small portion of it reflected in Razalim would be priceless to both Fire and I."

[Anastasia]

"That's if that's right. Razalim may have been a mistake. Tainted metal, an errant thought of mine, the actions of a greater power." The efreet says, "I know my blades to the last detail." Leaning in here, jabbing a finger at you, "I know nothing of Razalim, save that it is dangerous and powerful. Do not seek it so far that it makes you its next victim. Life is worth more than one sword, no matter how alluring what it can be is."

[Corwin]

Seira nods. "If I try and fail, I'll bring it to you so you could destroy it. Would I be correct in assuming that so long as I don't intend to waste your time, I could return to your demiplane?"

[Anastasia]

"No. I will have nothing to with Razalim," Kassim shakes his head, "No. Bring it here and you waste my time."

"I understand," Seira responds, nodding. "I'll deal with it myself, while taking care not to turn it into an obsession."

"Bring something worthy," Kassim says, "And you shall see something worthy."

[Corwin]

"I'll do my best to surprise someone who has seen it all before," Seira tells Kassim with a grin.

It seems like a polite dismissal, so if I'm right we'll be leaving to see Alicia.

Yes, but one quick observation first.

As you go out, you hear Amaryl's voice in your mind. 'I was possibly right, but Razalim...what is it? It seems far more than even a weapon made by the Honored Flame.'
