"You are correct," Chrona agrees, "Time is wounded here and it falls on you to fix it. We normally handle this, but if there is ever a time where we cannot or you must, it is imperative that you know how."

Syala is studying ahead intently, eyes narrow. "Something like a spiritual wound, but it's not the same."

"So is there a trick to it beyond divine brute force?" Alicia asks. "If I were to use a conventional spell what would it look like?" She finds it easier to think of her reality warping along the same lines as orthodox spellcasting due to her experience with it after all.

[Anastasia]

"Chronomancy," Chrona explains now, walking to the border of the distortion and stopping a step before it. "Before, temporal magic was spread about, the previous spell would have been a divination as well as chronomancy. Now as magic is adjusted to the Compact, it is only Chronomancy. To fix weak temporal disturbances, a Temporal Stabilization spell is needed. It is 4th circle."

Syala hms a moment. 'Love, you looked happier than a paladin with a holy avenger earlier. You go first.'

"Thank you. I'll let you do the next one," Alicia smiles at Syala, walking over to stand next to Chrona. That's still easily within the bounds of what she can emulate, so she holds a hand up to the outer edge of the field, her fingertips just barely touching it, before she exerts her will to stabilise things.

[Anastasia]

A sound like a gong as power you never had flows through you. A sense of rightness, as if part of you is back, back to where it always should have been.

The time distortion ahead slowly adjusts, fading until it is gone entirely.

"The outermost ring of the distortion is gone," Chrona declares, "Ahead lies difficulties and dangers. Be prepared."

"In that case lets cast a few preparatory spells..." Alicia casts, going through her roster as Marie does likewise.

I'd rule Syala gets the +3 from recitation as well (and that's how I've ran it I think), as she's part of a pantheon with you and intimately tied to you. Close enough for government work here.

"Yes," Chrona says as you advance, "You could counter Chronomancy spells as any other, and dispel magic could suppress them - but not the greater changes to time when were made."

All around are the ruins. It's what you'd expect, but you notice a few noteworthy things.

- In one ruin the hilt of a sword sticks out of the sand, surrounded by a rippling, time itself seeming to coil around itself endlessly and forever.
- A set of stairs going down can be seen intact in one shell of a house, sand laden but intact.
- The space between two houses seems to cycle between day and night, each blink another turn.
- There are tracks about - of some strange thing, animalistic, perhaps. Hooves.

"Syala, can you tell much from these tracks?" Alicia starts with something that could portend enemies to fight, letting Syala's expertise take the fore.

"They're fresh, whatever it is lurks around. It may be in the hall or below ground, or a distortion is hiding it from our vision." Then looking to Marie, "What creature savaged Jaffar's caravan?"

"Giant lions and scorpions were mentioned," Marie supplies. "Like really really giant, he said as big as mountains."

"We'll have to stay on guard then," Alicia says, going to examine the sword hilt next while Marie keeps an eye out for monsters. She first uses arcane sight to identify what sort of spellwork is causing that coiling in time.

Syala follows as Chrona coughs and hangs back.

"Surprisingly, there's a lack of signs of giant sized fauna. Though they may be below ground or the time distortions erase the tracks." Syala says, as you study the magic. It's a sort of paradox, time tangled together to keep the sword in place without ending, self contained carefully to influence nothing beyond it.

Rather than touching it, Alicia casts telekinesis and attempts to pull the sword out of the sand so she can see how it reacts.

Nothing happens. It moves and it doesn't, but in the end nothing happens. Time around it twists and writhes oddly, looping back to when it was still there in an instant.
