Marie and Jessica step into a shadow, a small and rocky overhang on a cliff, a boulder there blocking the view into what's little more than barely a cave, half a dozen feet recessed in and forgotten. It's cold here, the crisp weather of Ysgard chilly this high up. But be it as it may, the two you are there, ready to go.

"I'll go tiny and hold onto your shoulder while I'm invisible so we don't get separated," Marie says, doing just that. "Sneak us into the valley so I can get a good position to teleport block all the portals, then we'll see what extra chaos we can do?"

Jessica moves. It's in starts and stops, blurring between rocks and cover, leaping and moving. You can see demons flying out and poking out of caves, establishing territory. Mostly lesser demons here save for the ones in the air heading towards Sylica. Not a noise is made as she goes, not a single move until she lands in front of another cave, behind a pair of standing babau. As Jessica moves into the dark cave without a sound, you overhear them talking.

"...and it squishes," The fiend says. "Before it starts swelling and bursts in your hand. They scream so loudly when they do it." His voice is rapidfire, words almost running over one another. "Squish swell pop, squish swell pop, squish swell pop. Watch the blood. Listen to the screams. Savor the pain."

Marie has an idea of what they're talking about and she doesn't much care for it. She thinks she'll be doing some amazing barrages after she shuts down the portals, but Alicia's counting on her to do that first so she remains clung to Jessica's back without reacting until they get to the valley in a good spot for her to do her teleport blocking.

Jessica keeps any commentary to herself, but pauses in a shadow. She waves in your direction a moment then points at one and at her, then at the other and you.

Meanwhile...

"Silence," The second babau growls, voice deep, gravelly.

"But the pop," The first says, claws clenching open and closed. "But the blood. But the PAIN!" He turns, raising a claw.

The second turns and snarls, "Your pain, traitor. Can't help it, can't you? Don't even realize it."

The so called traitor stares a moment as the second goes right on, "Worthless fucking dog of the baatezu!" it howls, before going for the throat with both claws.

Well if she wants to get an early start Marie isn't going to begrudge her! She doesn't know if Jessica can see her through her high grade invisibility spell so she replies nonverbally as she returns to her normal size and pats Jessica's sheathed rapier to signal her willingness to inflict violence.

The demons might kill each other first at this rate, but even so she positions by them and prepares to summon her otherworldly sword to show off what it can do.

Trusting Jessica will handle her target, Marie slices into the one that was marked for her, nothing visible but rends in his flesh as her sword of light carves him apart with skill that belies her typical focus on throwing magic missiles at every problem.

Her sword vanishes, Marie turns tiny again, and then she clings onto Jessica's shoulder to resume their journey.

Have to remember these demons will be back up and about after dawn. She doesn't envy whoever's on cleanup after this battle.

Deeper into the cavern you proceed, Jessica little more than a blur as you hold on tight. Around a corner, the sound of footsteps coming this way. "Hold on," Jessica breathes out, barely audible.

Jessica leaps up and flies, the ceiling high enough up that it requires this. She grabs onto the ceiling, holding on tight in spite of no handholds to be seen. Moments later they can be heard, approaching, "...Then there will be even more," A woman's voice, sweet and deep. "At least one will have to be taken back to be made an example of. Except the erinyes, that filth dies."

A man's voice, sour, as flickers of red light can be seen from around the turn. "Like you matter for it. Remember Natara? She came out second best against Antenora. Let the bigger ones face those, we'll have enough easy marks to work on."

Anyway Marie just holds onto Jessica and stays quiet, her magically augmented senses easily able to pick out the people ahead and what they're doing and talking about.

The woman is a dwarf with hair like smoking flames, striding ahead fast despite her small stature. She wears dark blue pants and a matching top, flexible and light clothing paired with bracers and jewelry. With her is a taller human, muscular and carrying a greataxe in one hand. His eyes sweep over everything as...
