Anastasia

Jessica inspects as Latha hammers the outside of the sphere and Yandrazt pokes his head out, as if steel was nothing more than air and says, "More on that side, it needs more adjustment for the changes."

"It must have been a remarkably powerful creature," Jessica shakes her head.

Also, it's good to engage Latha in this. She needs more yet, sister. She...I never dreamed I would say she needs to catch up to me. She's been our guide and guardian for so long.

She's been pulling her weight well enough lately, but I suppose your ascension would change your perspective on things. Still, this is particularly her area of expertise.

Anastasia

Jessica merely watches as the work.

As you organize matters and the sphere is worked on further...

Give me a quick d100.

As you work, a prayer catches your attention. It's from Gladsun, a ghaele serving you.

'Saint Alicia, give us strength, for with what I see, this entire city may be about to be destroyed.'

What city's that? She focuses her attention on Gladsun to see where they are and what they see.

Remove sensing to perceive everything within 3 miles around them.

Anastasia

Gladsun is in one of the underpassages beneath the city. A secret door has been opened, revealing a complex magical diagram within.

It's a simple spell trigger: When triggered it unleashes several massive earthquakes. On a glance with your magic, the trigger looks to be not being reset with a certain magical item every 24 hours or so.

Spellcraft to see if I can tell what magic item is needed, and also if I can see it within 3 miles of Gladsun.

Anastasia

This city, notably. It looks to be the Abyssal Chair and yes, you can sense it in the Abyssal Lake, in the General's now former office.

I thought it was a base/fort rather than an actual city.

"Jessica, could you do me a favour?" she asks. "There's a magic item in Faridoon's office," she describes it. "Unless it's placed in a ritual chamber down below it'll trigger earthquakes to destroy the city. I need to stay here to maintain the purification until Latha and Yandrazt finish so I need you to go get it and take it to the chamber." She then gives Jessica directions for everywhere she needs to go for this.

Anastasia

Phrasing issue there, admittedly

"I'll see to it, sister." Jessica promises, going.

Soon enough?

Sister, it's done. It needs a dao to sit in it to work, but fortunately, we have several volunteers on hand.

Fortunate, as I was not able to make it work myself. It was almost a disaster.

Thank you. Once we've finished with the purification center we can see about dismantling that earthquake setup afterwards. The level of spite is revolting.

Anastasia

This was not an easy trap to find, we could have missed it before it was too late. I believe we had less than an hour when I stabilized it.

It may also be prudent had that creature of poison slipped its bonds. When you cage a tiger, you have a sword ready should it slip its cage.

...though perhaps my entire mindset is faulty if I am advocating for the dao.

Ebiris

Perhaps, though I'm unsure if mere earthquakes would stop a creature like that. It feels more like an anti-revolt measure.

Anastasia

Soon enough all of you gather again before the sphere, the work done. "It's finished," Latha announces, "We can begin immediately."

"There's more," Yandrazt declares, "First, it can focus on one type of rare metal or get less but aim for all of them. Secondly, there's still a tremendous seed of energy within even now. The first metal extracted should be gold, and I'm claiming part of it for my own research. The rest will still be formidable, and should be an item of power - and edible, even to a normal person."

"I believe small amounts of gold can be eaten as is it, sister?" Jessica speaks up, a half question. "I've seen that in a few fancy restaurants across the planes."

"True, for most humanoids," Yandrazt goes on, "But this will be charged with a tremendous amount of energy and empower whomever eats it. Choose wisely, there will be enough for one person."
