"How about we take care of that little detail now, before proceeding?" Seira offers. The dao provided information on everything within moments, so it shouldn't take long.

I'm looking for an idea, really, of how many really are 'a handful'.

"About 14 deals in total, covering 49 slaves in total," Akil says, "As well as some unrelated goods not impacted by this treaty."

"Since it's such a small amount of out the millions of slaves you currently hold, it shouldn't be hard to convince the sellers to see the greater good in falling in line," Seira voices. "Visitors make for an interesting question. After all, they would either travel by magic and no more than a minute's grace would be necessary for them to go on their way, or would be leading caravans the normal way. And if it's the latter, whyever would these non-citizens of the Efreet Empire be headed for the Empire, where slavery has been outlawed? The whole thing feels silly, quite honestly."

"Why, trade and travel." Akil says quite reasonably, "There are many reasons they may visit, and such a ban is impractical and impossible to enforce, as well as a gross violation of the sovereignty of other nations."

"I have a massive hoard but I don't travel with it everywhere," Seira counters. "Neither should those outsiders that choose this sort of trade bring their slaves with them as they stop by. I do see the difficulty in enforcing such matters, and would be happy to offer the Cauldron's services in ensuring that such unlawful guests of the Efreet Empire see the error of their ways and find a renewed respect for its laws and customs."

"Ah," Akil says, "I believe I have our misunderstanding. You intent for it to apply to slaves brought, not to slaves owned by visitors but no tin the Efreet Empire?"

"Correct. I could hardly expect a visiting Lixer to be educated enough to free his own slaves, but he could pay the Efreet Empire the bare minimum of courtesy and respect its laws, therefore visiting without any slaves present. Should he commit such a faux pas, I envision him being informed that those slaves are now freed." Her smile shows teeth as Seira adds, "And naturally, I'm volunteering my help in showing him the error of his ways should he be further belligerent."

Tilting her head, she muses, "So we have the domain of the Empire, which is any and all piece of land the Empire claims including its sovereign ground used as embassies in other realms, which must be freed of slaves, the sole exception being visitors who are not citizens of the Empire passing through it with slaves for a combined time of one minute during a twenty four hour period. And we have the citizens of the Empire, who are likewise barred by law from owning or otherwise being involved in the trade of slaves, regardless of their location, lest they too be in violation of the Abolition Law. Their households, naturally, would fall under the same law. Is this clearer?"

With his hand on Razalim, Akil finally nods, "It is," he finally says, "I can sign that treaty once it's fully written out and bring an end to this war."

"It will take a few minutes to make the adjustments," Seira voices, leaving the matter to the lawyers. "One last thing is the logistics. The ceasefire goes into effect at the moment of signing. As for the freed slaves, I presume you are capable of shifting them in their entirety to the entrance of the Cauldron? Many must be rather fragile and wouldn't do well if tossed out into Fire by their erstwhile owners, so it's best that I receive them all as guests and take it upon myself to send them towards their next destination."

"Oh, we'll take care of that in time, but it won't be instant. Such matters take time, but I assure you they'll be freed," Akil says, "They are not centralized in such a manner."

"In that case, I won't trouble you over such trifling matters and deal with them myself. After all, you'll need to consolidate your rule properly, and I'll have a lot of free time, so what better use for it? Merely provide orders to the efreet, and me with a list of the slaves, and I'll take them off your hands."

Anastasia

"We'll muster them to you," Akil says reasonably, "You will have permission to take them from those muster points."

"That can work," Seira cautiously allows. "How soon will that be? And how long would it take to repatriate all of the slaves?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

"Several days," Akil says, "As well as slowly shifting from a war footing. I can have an exact schedule delivered soon."

"Acceptable for those held in the City of Brass or the many country mansion," Seira responds after a brief moment of thought. "The slave camps, however, could be repatriated immediately after the signing of the treaty. Those held there are already gathered properly in one place, and your representatives would be able to handle matters swiftly there. It would also go a long way towards convincing my friends from Celestia to fall in line on the rest. I'm certain that you didn't mistake their constant frowning throughout our negotiations, so I would appreciate this gesture."
