Ebiris

What triggers the alarms? The door being opened? Damage to the adamantine core? Changes to the status of the styx-water?

Anastasia

The door being opened by anyone who is not Violet or Malcanthet, the waters being disturbed, the door being damaged or the magic of the door being altered in any way, save by Violet or Malcanthet.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

Can she tell how big a disturbance to the water would trigger it?

How is the door built, too? Is there a gap between the adamantine and the frame/floor that's filled with styx-water?

Anastasia

Anything more than removing a few droplets would do it. It's sensitive.

No gaps, it's flush like the previous door.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

Is the styx-water flowing in through a gap in the frame or the floor then?

Anastasia

It looks to be coming from the walls and door directly. It be magic.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

What kind of magic? Is it conjuring it, teleporting it from elsewhere, selectively making itself passable to water that's flowing behind the walls?

Anastasia

It's letting the water of the Styx pass through, rather than conjuring or teleporting it, looks like.

Turning grain of sand sized again, Alicia touches the wall beside the door so tremorsense can give her an idea of what's going on with the layout down here.

Also see if Violet and her guest have moved. She hasn't heard any further conversation from them, has she?

Anastasia

Nope. They're still where they were last time, though Violet is rocking a bit where she sits or stands, you aren't sure which offhand.

It looks like the rock here lets water flow through, feels like, close enough to the river that it's not that far a trip.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

So is there a channel in the rock for the river to flow through or is it permeable? Is this entire room suspended in water, does it extend to the next room/stairs/Violet's room?

She tries not to think about what precisely Violet is doing right now.

Anastasia

It does not surround everything, it's a single channel, but it looks like it's set up to spread on demand.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

So is it a channel that runs solely between this room and the next? How far does it extend and how wide is it? Is there anything swimming around in it?

Anastasia

Nothing swimming in it, and it's pretty narrow - maybe an inch. It transports plenty of water fast, it looks to be swift and efficient.

Ebiris

So is there a way through the rock above or below it then? Or to one side?
