"Always," Cresiel says immediately.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.

"I think we'll be fine with just us, but if other people are needed we can always bring them." Moore says.

With that, it's a Greater Plane Shift to the Broken City in the Astral!

Oh, that's probably 'the sundered realm,' isn't it...

Anastasia

First of all, any prep? Obligatory question on going out.

It's a good question, they'll hit up the Blessing Stone first, but other than that, no.

Anastasia

Thus you appear in the timeless sea. As you take in the silence of the transitive plane, you hear a familiar voice. Genlar's voice, a quiet prayer for inspiration. "Guide my inspiration and order my steps, for if I fail, this regimen will break for certain and our lines are doomed to collapse."

#80
Moore looks around for magic!

Spellcraft for 89, he's looking for any traces of ORCHID.

In the meantime, it's easy enough to give a gentle nudge. A feeling of hopefulness, of pride and a feeling that he's being watched over and given the inspiration he needs. Moore has faith in you, just as you have faith in him!

If possible, Moore would give him the benefit of a Good Hope spell if he doesn't already have one. He's probably being too active in these sorts of things, but that's okay, he can make that mistake.

Anastasia

What spell are you using?

If he can make it simple, a Good Hope spell.

Anastasia

I meant for spellcrafting.

I thought that's what you meant! Arcane Sight.

Anastasia

There's magic around, but minor magics and nothing that suggests a being like ORCHID.

Meanwhile you inspire Genlar. He surges forth - but his efforts are cut short. A stray arrow buries itself into his chest and he stumbles back. Other arrows slam into the line and prove far too effective. Wounded and wounded badly, Genlar has no choice but to fall back to the healers, blood staining his lips as he does. You can see the battle turn against his forces, the line buckle and break.

Moore will gesture to get a sense of his surroundings!

We know that ORCHID was at least close (relatively) speaking to the Broken City. Let's do a Lay of the Land (via alter reality) so I don't have to cast it for three turns to see if there are any other places of any interest around besides this one. Obviously, YMMV on 'places of interest' in The Astral, but it's as good a starting point as any.

He's faced his own setbacks in life, some of which cost him dearly. He gives Genlar his support - a battle lost is not a war lost. He shouldn't give up because someone outwitted him. He mustn't give up trying in the face of setbacks.

Another feeling of comfort, in understanding. A hope to learn from the experience and not let it ruin him.

Anastasia

Genlar manages to notice amid the pain he's in, and he whispers, "Hope be with me."

Meanwhile, you don't get any sense of locations beyond the Broken City, but distances in the Astral are admittedly unusual in the best of times.

"I don't get a sense of any magic similar to CRIMSON around here." Moore says. "Let's look around the edges of this area and see if we notice anything at all."

He'll basically go in a big circle and keep an eye out for changes in magic in the area, and also keep an eye out for the mile out he has to see if anything pops out at him. If after, let's say an hour he doesn't notice anything, they'll try something else.

Anastasia

Sure thing. Give me a Spot check and a d100, would you?
