Yes, but we've got more to work with. A face, a possible name, the fact that he does this in person means it's an Avatar, and I'll be the bodyguard is Tiamat's son. We can search for similar situations, narrowing things down by looking at large transactions that used testing methods that missed it. If we correlate everything, we'll be able to work out what his preferred targets are. Once we have that, we can start searching for a likely one and wait. Send a probing strike at his Avatar as a distraction from our main attack.

If we can find a recent incident somewhere in Creation. We need more to narrow down where he's targeting right now, or if he's spread about more.

We'll split it. One of us will search for recent occurrences, another will search more long term. The longer term will tell us if his tactics change and let us see how often he does this, which will help with any prediction for the near future.

Well, I figure Legend Lore won't directly work, so I need to get ahold of like, financial records from somewhere? I figure I can use Legend Lore to "find ledger books that show transactions with the same characteristics" and then use my scrying crystal to actually read them?

[Anastasia]

I don't think the ledger books qualify for the spell. To quote:

As a rule of thumb, characters who are 11th level and higher are "legendary," as are the sorts of creatures they contend with, the major magic items they wield, and the places where they perform their key deeds.

Ledger books aren't the magic magic items they wield nor any of the others, so I can't see it working on those. You'd need something much more specialized.

Hm, then let's get with Dolmaya and work out a spell. That should also help with her node goal!

Okay, do you have any idea here or are you just hoping you can work one out with her IC?

Uh, sorta just working one out? I can't think of any spells to use as foundation other than Scry Location and modifying it to something like Scry Records/Book Depository or something.

"The problem," Dolmaya says, "Is that such a spell would be ridiculously specialized. We may need it anyway, or to develop a stronger, broader spell. My first instinct is to throw a wish or miracle at it and see if that passes muster."

Alyssa nods, "A good idea, but still, I want to have you here for this. I'll use the Wish, but it will destabilize my magic. You'll need to help me refine it past that. Suggestions for specific wording?"

Iddy, deities don't suffer from that with wishes or miracles.
