19:32 — Skaya decides to check where the passage back leads now.
19:37 <•Kotono> Skaya heads out. It's a mountainside, just like last time. However, looking up, she can see the mountaintop is a yellow flame with hints of white.
19:38 <Skaya> Fuck. She heads back in, intending to take the other path and find either the orange fire where she left her friends or the blue fire that she seeks.
19:45 <•Kotono> Skaya goes back to the path. The heat coming from it is fearsome - she can feel it through her ward. Not greatly, but it's not nothing, either.
19:46 <Skaya> What can she do but proceed? Except this time, she won't bother with making the path easier to return from. Nothing short of a sheer cliff over 10ft in height will deter her!

19:54 <•Kotono> It leads to anothe rmountainside. This time, the flame above is a brillant blue. You can feel the heat from it even from here, radiant and nigh overwhelming. You also see the base of the mountain is manned. From up here you can see dozens of massive fire elementals, each made of blue fire, standing guard around the mountain. None look your way at least, all guarding outward rather than inward.

The belt is the last to go, but she triggers it before dropping it with the haversack and diving into the blue flames! Presip's Life Walk works by healing you as you move, and the fire has the space for that!

20:18 <Skaya> ' My name is Skaya,' she responds in her mind. 'I was told this was the most special fire, and I decided to challenge myself with it and reforge myself. I didn't bother with the lesser fires and went straight here.'
20:20 <•Kotono> 'A bold strategy.' A heat blossoms in her mind as the voice laughs, 'Foolish, but beautifully bold. Bold as the fires that burn all away. What makes you worthy of this fire?'
20:22 <Skaya> 'Of course I'm worthy! I made my way here, didn't I? Aside from that, isn't the best test the actual fire? Nothing I say here can compare to showing it with my actions!'

21:06 <Skaya> 'Okay! First, I need to get back to my friends and bring Rina over. I left them by the orange fire, but the paths kept shifting and the way back disappeared. Do you know how I can return without relying on luck?' Skaya puts her gear on, in the meantime, ready to head off.

21:11 <•Kotono> The conversation is interrupted as suddenly Skaya slams down from above, right in between all of you. She seems unhurt if facedown.
21:12 <•Kotono> "AH!" Sanda yelps, stumbling back and staff out.
21:12 <Devar> "I considered taking a vow of poverty." Devar says. "But  it was---" Devar jumps back at the sudden Skaya.

21:12 <Devar> "W...welcome back?" He offers, going to help Skaya up.
21:13 <Skaya> "Right. So. First the highlights! The passages disappear and get replaced, so I couldn't get back. I found the blue fire. It talked to me telling me I wasn't worthy. I went in anyway. It turns out fire knows its stuff. It did say Rina is possibly worthy, and also there's something chaotic on this very mountain that if we're strong enough would be great to find."

21:15 <Devar> "'Tempered and cooled,' huh?" Devar says. "I guess Rina and I would fit that... but I'm not sure we want to get turned into Fire, I feel like that would cause some real issues with our icy friend... but it might be worth it to try anyway."
21:16 <Skaya> "We can seek out the chaos thing anyway, Devar. Ah, but I do want to try being special once again with the power of friendship and arcane magic. Are we still doing this?":
21:17 <Devar> "It doesn't sound like what you found was lying." Devar agrees. "I'm all for going in, especially since we know if we stick together we'll be okay."
21:18 <Skaya> "It was also a horrible pain and I wish I had something to show for it. I'm okay with trying again!"
21:18 <•Kotono> Rina's quiet, before, "I have nothing to lose and I need to be stronger," she declares, "I'd accept it if offered."

21:20 <Skaya> "If you don't have protection you'll be toasty. It's better to use it than just heal afterwards. Who likes pain, right? Ah, but you should be fairly okay, especially if you don't intend to jump in. I figure if Anne supports us with ranged healing as we dive into the fire you'll be okay!"
21:21 <Devar> "I mostly just meant on the trip inside the mountain." Devar says. "If anyone enters the fire, we can heal them."
21:21 <Devar> "As much as I'd like to try it myself, I don't think this one's meant for me." He adds.
21:22 <Skaya> "I get you. I think you will be mostly fine but everyone else really wants fire resistance."
21:23 — Devar nods.

21:24 <Skaya> OOC: Everyone but me and Devar gets fire res 10 if possible. I lead us into the cavern, checking out when we reach the blue fire. Then I bring us to the blue fire!

21:26 <•Kotono> OOC: Only one more resist energy to go around. Anne has those Bear's Endurance spells in her 2nd level slots. She does have two Protections from Energy, though.

Really, Anne should've been supporting from a distance, but maybe it's Skaya's fault for not instructing her to before. But Skaya is the only one actually in the fire so she can do her best to ensure Rina gains the approval of the blue fire's  spirit!

I estimate 3-4 days at minimum, plus you two would need to jump into some fires. So clearly, the superior choice is to head for what we think is the exit."

20:15 <Skaya> "The sword, huh. It would be difficult. I don't think we can take on that ice dragon, and anything of that level would be hard to fight, too."
20:15 <•Kotono> "It's still true," Anne disagrees, "There's no shame in accepting the risk isn't worth the reward. Or to know when to quit and walk away rich, rather than push it a nd lose your life."

20:31 <•Kotono> "There are," Sanda agrees, but Storm's Eye appears. It yawns long before, "Mmm, interesting energy," it says slowly. "Very fiery. Surprised you aren't gifting it to one of your ladies."

20:32 <•Kotono> Sanda eyes the spear, "Ignoring everything else you said, it wouldn't be the worst weapon for me if it wasn't so big. But I'd have to figure out how to use an oversized weapon."

20:35 <Devar> "I don't want to just start stealing any magic items we come across." Devar says with a smile to the others. "But I figure if we have the option of somehow making him-" He wiggles Storm's Eye a little, "-stronger, we might as well explore the opportunity."
20:35 <•Kotono> Chuckling, "Maybe," it says, "It is awfully spicy, but maybe."
20:36 <Skaya> "Just eat it, then help Devar find a nice shiny sword for Rina under the waves. Then we can try to resolve this messed up place and leave, right?"
20:37 <•Kotono> "Ack, fine, fine," Storm's Eye doesn't argue overmuch about it. "Put me on it?"
20:37 <Skaya> "Wait, wait," Skaya cries, covering her eyes and turning away. "Okay, do it."

20:38 <Devar> Devar goes to lift up Ignisia and makes the spears kiss by holding them together.
20:41 <•Kotono> The spears are combined and - woosh! Flame and light surge up, as the spear crumbles away. Storm's Eye glows and glows, before with a soft tink, a three set of tiny little lightning white gems plop down on the ground. WIth a confused groan Storm's Eye manages, "What was in that spear...?" before vanishing. OOC: Loot. On top of a new ability, it rose from +1 to +2.

20:47 <Skaya> "Some lower creatures propagate by duplicating themselves, so who knows," Skaya responds to Sanda. At Devar's mention, she asks Storm, "Hey, what if you eat the evil Auril-dedicated pendant? Do you think you'll turn evil?"
20:48 <•Kotono> Neither of yo uget an answer at the moment, beyond a pained groan. Then, "Something about that spear was strange," it complains, "Need to lie down and rest it off."

20:50 <Skaya> "I've always liked to eat strange things. Ah, Anne, do you mind if I also eat a dangerous fire fruit? Could you save me if it burns me?"
20:51 <•Kotono> Anne takes a long breath, "I'll trade you the gems for not complaining if you eat the fruit," Anne offers. "I'd like to increase my own defenses as well."
20:52 <Skaya> "But what if my nature changes from fire to something else? Then I won't be able to even try eating them!"
20:52 <Devar> Devar will (carefully) get the bowl of fire fruit out. "I'll be back, you all be careful." He says.
