21:30 <•Kotono> Soon enough, everyone gets together at Rina's. A cheer goes up with the news about Storm's Eye, but after that. "An entire flying palace of undead?" Anne asks, "Seriously?"
21:30 <Skaya> "Invisible, too!"
21:31 <Devar> "You can't even make something like that up. I wonder if any of the history books there would help. But seriously, how unlucky is that place?" Devar asks.
21:32 <Skaya> "That place is either super cursed or indeed someone made this up," Skaya says cheerfully. "But! If it's real, do you realize what it means? Treasure! And also, I call dibs on the flying invisible palace!"
21:34 <Devar> "Does a flying invisible palace do much for you?" Devar asks. "I mean... either way, sure, that's fine." He adds with a laugh. "I wonder if you can move it."
21:35 <Skaya> "It surely can fly elsewhere! Otherwise it would be described as the invisible floating palace!"
21:38 <•Kotono> "Optimistic, aren't you?" Rina considers, "But I think it's a tleast worth looking into. We can make a day of it."
21:39 ⇐ Devar quit (~ryan.scud@AA0F7DBB.E34A7B23.BA4AC9A9.IP) Ping timeout: 180 seconds
21:39 <•Kotono> "At the least, we can look into it," Anne agrees, "I have my doubts for many reasons, but at worst it's a fool's venture tha tonly costs us time and effort."
21:40 → Devar joined (~ryan.scud@AA0F7DBB.E34A7B23.BA4AC9A9.IP)
21:40 <Skaya> "And a bit of backlash from the teleport. I'll teleport us, you'll heal me right back?"
21:41 <Devar> "I can restore any bodily damage you take." Devar says. "So Anne doesn't have to waste anything."
21:41 <Skaya> "I thought it was her hobby, though."
21:41 <Devar> "No, her hobby is lecturing Sanda." Devar says.
21:41 <Skaya> "You're allowed more than one hobby, surely."
21:42 <Devar> "That's fair." He agrees.
21:47 <•Kotono> Anne sighs tiredly while Sanda hmphs. Rina finds it funny, laughing before, "Then it's agreed." OOC: Okay, it's near end of session so thi sis purely prep. Any needed prep or setup for this?
21:48 <Skaya> OOC: If we're going the next day, let's have Sanda use a Sending to Liza to let her know we're going on a short trip the next day.
21:50 <•Kotono> OOC: That works. Also give me a quick d100, lower the better, Skaya.
21:51 <Skaya> roll 1d100

19:01 <•Kotono> ---
19:02 <•Kotono> Huh. Skaya relaxes and loses track of some time. She doesn't quite doze, but after losing herself in thought for a few minutes, she blinks and realizes she's in a familiar place. Sanda's chosen storefront on board, though with a distinct lack of Sanda this time.
19:04 <Skaya> Sanda will probably spend a Sending on her-- oh geez, one more spell she should really try and get in a convenient ring form. Since she's back on the ship, Skaya heads out to look for Liza!
19:05 <•Kotono> Woah! As you start to step out, the entire ship shakes. It's not a small shake, either.
19:06 — Skaya is briefly disoriented before her belt kicks in and stabilizes her! Then, Skaya makes her way to the top deck!
19:07 <•Kotono> You race out - ah! In the hallis battle. Crew members face down great masses of ice ni human form. They range from human sized to triple it, each armed with a spear of frost. Savage swashbuckling goes on all ahead as you peek out, a pitched battle. "Everyone!" The captain's voice is heard, bellowing, "We're setting sail. Hold on and keep repelling the attackers! Make them pay for this!"
19:08 — Skaya looks for any signs of a leader among the icy invaders.
19:10 <•Kotono> OOC: PErception here, +1 bonus.
19:10 <•Kotono> OOC: I shall rouse the dread Kobot.
19:11 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for 31

19:15 <•Kotono> By and large, you notice your side is winning. One small dwarf darts amid a larger one, around his legs and using an axe to cut deep. On another, a human with branches for hair and tree bark like skin boxes a disarmed one, winning that fight steadily. Another dodges spears as darts of fire come from his extended hand. At the stairs going to the desk, expression impassive, is a large ice
19:15 <•Kotono> creature, standing guard and with both spear and shield at the ready. He's not facing anyone right now, but instead looming, a presence that seems to bolster all of the ice elementals or whatever they are.
19:16 — Skaya dashes towards the large ice creature! If that's how it is, she should hit it a few times!
19:17 <•Kotono> Skaya begins the dash. She races along the battlefield, and as she goes? Suddenly cold bursts around her, as a creature of ice emits a blast of it towards its foe, and you end up clipped by it. "For treasure adn glory," You hear a call at the same time, "Capture those spears!"  OOC: Ref.
19:18 <Skaya> OOC: Ice immunity
19:18 <Skaya> OOC: Well, cold immunity
19:19 <•Kotono> The cold doesn't even slow Skaya down, as her advance is seen. Spear and shield are readied, as...OOC: Init, the two of you.

19:20 <•Kotono> OOC: Open.

19:34 <•Kotono> WHAM! A direct hit to the creature's chest, knocking it back and up several stairs. It doesn't go down from it and instead whirls its spear, before lunging dead on at Skaya. In the background clangs and battle cries sound, and above you can hear much of the same.
19:34 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+15

19:34 <Skaya> OOC: AC is 31
19:40 <•Kotono> Skaya has to dodge with all of her speed, avoiding injury by a split second. It's a narrow miss, a single powerful thrust that creates a cold gale that blows against her. Nothing more than that though, as...

19:43 <Skaya> This time, Skaya fights more conservatively, going for quantity over quality. She'll try to boost her defense for a change as well!

19:49 <•Kotono> "In the name of Lady Titania, I smite you!" A voice calls, as a flash of green light is glimpsed. There's more battle ahead, but none of it threatens you right away as the two of you are locked in a battle, neither able to gain an edge on the other. OOC: Go.
19:49 <Skaya> Well then! Perhaps she'll succeed if she tries harder? Skaya decides to throw caution to the wind and hit with all her strength!

19:52 ↔ Devar nipped out
19:53 <•Kotono> A solid hit after two blocks, a blow to its side. The ice creature is knocked back, a wet, ice choked gurgle of pain from that kick. Ice falls from the strike, but it's still up. In low, silibant words of Common, "Retreat!" he calls, withdrawing away from you and up the stairs. OOC: Withdraw action to get out of range and scurry away. More.
19:53 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:53 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=3 ]{3}
19:54 <•Kotono> No one immediately follows, at least that you see, but you can hear cheers go up from the defenders.
19:54 — Skaya gives chase! Perhaps she'll catch this creature, or even one of the others fleeing, now that his protective aura is gone! Spears... there was something about getting their spears, wasn't there?
20:04 <•Kotono> Skaya races up the steps, onto the deck. The ship's in a fierce blizzard as you might expect from this realm, off to sea. Ice creatures are leaping off deck, retreating. It's a battle but a winning one, looks like.
20:04 — Skaya looks for a straggler to kick!
20:07 <•Kotono> OOC: Perception, +5 since you made it up fast enough.
20:08 <Skaya> OOC: 10 for 35
20:10 <•Kotono> There! A dazed and stumbling one, spear in hand, is lurching towards the side of the ship. No one's around him but he's moving slow.
20:11 — Skaya dashes towards the dazed attacker and kicks him in the head!
20:12 <Skaya> roll 1d20+14+7+2 inspiration, charge
20:12 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d20+14+7+2 inspiration, charge --> [ 1d20=20 ]{43}

20:12 <Skaya> roll 3d6+5+1d8
20:12 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 3d6+5+1d8 --> [ 3d6=13 1d8=2 ]{20}
20:13 <•Kotono> Head 0, Skaya's foot 1. Skaya's kick shatters an icy head, the creature collapsing. No blood or anything, just ice. Its spear falls to the ground, unprotected and up for grabs. Got it!
20:14 — Skaya cheerfully picks up her spoils!
20:16 <•Kotono> IT's icy cold, not that this bothers you. Meanwhile cheers erupt as the battle is won. The enemy is routed, in retreat or defeated. Whew. OOC: Free act, anow you have a spear. Up to yo uwhat you do now.
20:21 — Skaya goes to look for Liza anew!
20:23 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
20:23 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=55 ]{55}
20:23 <•Kotono> "Skaya!" Liza hurries up from belowdecks as you look about, gettin ga few thumps on the back and a single hug from a giant of a man. "You're back!"
20:24 <Skaya> "Just in time for a fight!" Skaya responds. "How did that come to be?"
20:30 <•Kotono> "Something went wrong in port," LIza explains succinctly. "I'm not sure what, but we had to leave suddenly."
20:32 <Skaya> "It can't be helped," Skaya says with a shrug. "But now things seem good? How about it, want to return and go exploring together? There's a rumor about an invisible flying castle filled with undead and treasure!"
20:35 <•Kotono> "Is there?" Liza looks interested, "Can you take us back?"
20:36 <Skaya> "Let's go over to Sanda's shop and try in relative privacy?"
20:37 <•Kotono> "Off ship," Liza shakes her head, "Let's do it off ship."
20:38 <Skaya> "That works as well," Skaya agrees. "Let's go! It's not a very complicated magic device."
20:41 <•Kotono> Thus you go out and...OOC: Which device are you using?
20:42 <Skaya> OOC: <Devar> "I'm not sure if you want to hold onto this," He says as he also produces the scrap of paper with the magical phrase for it. "It's a plane-shifting candle. Light it, say the phrase, and off you go. It reforms after a day. We're borrowing it until we have something more permanent amongst us. Oh - yeah, we visited Bytopia after the kerfuffle on Ice, but that isn't where we got this."
20:45 <•Kotono> roll 5d100
20:45 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 5d100 --> [ 5d100=265 ]{265}
20:46 <•Kotono> The candle is lit and away you go. Ah! You appear in a barn of all things. A barn that smells like a barn, full of hay, horses and cows. Liza wrinkles her nose, "Cattle smell the worst," she says in a voice of disgust, "I hate barns, they concentrate the smells."
20:47 <Skaya> "Let's teleport over to Rina's place," Skaya decides. "We'll handle everything else after." Then, taking Liza's hand, she focuses on the entrance to Rina's keep.
20:49 <•Kotono> The ring is activated and...

20:49 <•Kotono> Whoosh! You appear right where desired, even if the ring takes it's price, surely enough. A grimace and an ache, but you're back.
20:50 — Skaya coughs some blood but looks proud of her accomplishment all the same!
20:50 <•Kotono> With that you head in and...OOC: More, #dunes.

19:01 <•Kotono> OOC: SKaya in #evil.
19:02 <•Kotono> You're all preparing the next day when Sanda pokes into Devar's room. "Skaya's missing, jus tnow. I think she's shipside again."
19:05 <Devar> "Well, it's good I gave her that magic candle." Devar says, but then he tilts his head. "Why aren't you gone too? I figured you both would get called back like last time."
19:06 <•Kotono> "Who knows?" Sanda admits, "Statistically speaking, I suspect there's enough variance to keep people guessing."
19:07 <Devar> "Probably. Well, she can get back to us, so I figure we may as well wait for a bit unless we hear otherwise?"
19:08 <•Kotono> "Unless we do. I'd Sending her, but I didn't prepare it this morning," With a look of pique, "I have a battle spell set prepared, just in case this castle exists."
19:12 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@1520885F.E43ECEC5.F259B257.IP)
19:13 <Devar> He nods. "We can wait either way. Is there anything to do in the meantime?"
19:16 <•Kotono> "Depends on how long it takes Skaya to get back here," Sanda frowns a ltitle, "We don't know, so I'm inclined to play cards with Rina and Anne to pass a little time. Ideally, Skaya comes right back."
19:19 <Devar> "She should, unless something prevents plane shifting." Devar says.
19:21 <•Kotono> "I hope so. Anne's annoyingly good at games," With a huff now, utterly unamused, "
19:21 <•Kotono> OOC: Gah.
19:21 <•Kotono> "I hope so. Anne's annoyingly good at games," With a huff now, utterly unamused, "Apparently she plays so many of them with her charges that she's gotten good at them. Rina's good too, so I always lose money."
19:24 <Devar> "Just apply some of your tried and true statistics." Devar says with a smile.
19:33 <•Kotono> "I was hoping you'd come help me with it," Sanda prompts, "After all,t wo heads are better than one."
19:36 <Devar> "I'm not much of a planner, but I'll do my best." He promises.
19:42 <•Kotono> Sanda leads you along. You find Rina and Anne sorting out a small pile of copper coins, an assortment gathered from across your travels. All of minimal value, but plentiful. Both are in full gear but sit in the earl ymorning sunshine. "We may as well enjoy a little bit of leisure before we go forth," Anne offers, "At least until we see or hear word from Skaya."
19:43 <•Kotono> "And take Sanda's money. You've been on the worst streak lately," Rina sits back, "Morning, Devar. Hopefully Skaya's back, I'm ready to move."
19:47 <Devar> "I'm sure she's just tied up with something." Devar says. "I wouldn't worry. So what's the game?"
19:50 <•Kotono> "Dragon's Eye. Ever played?" Rina shuffles in the meantime.
19:50 <•Kotono> "It's fairly simple, "Anne goes on, "After all, what's most precious in a dragon's eye, besides treasure?"
19:51 <Devar> "I haven't, but these sorts of things are always easy to pick up and hard to master." He says.
19:52 ↔ Devar nipped out
20:01 <•Kotono> "It's a fairly simple game. Every player is dealt cards and the goal is to match pairs of cards, except for queens," Anne goes on, "You start the game by putting down any pairs you have, except for queens. After that, players take turns drawing a single card from any othe rplayer's hand, and if they make a pair except for a queen, they put it down. To win, you have to have no cards in your hand
20:01 <•Kotono> except for queens, and at least one queen in hand to win. The game's named for the old legend of dragons kidnapping princesses, the most valuable things in their eyes. Anyway, there's wagering before the initial deal, and if you have more than one queen in your hand when you win, players have to pay you more than your wager. Double, triple or quadruple, if you have all four queens when you
20:01 <•Kotono> win."
20:02 <•Kotono> "I'd never heard of it," Sanda admits, "But apparently it's played in taverns and sometimes with children who get their hands on cards."
20:02 <•Kotono> "It's because it's fun drunk, but most any card game that's not too complicated is fun when you're drunk," Rina counters, "ESpecially if you can win money playing."
20:05 <•Kotono> "Anything's fun if you're drunk enough, just as anything's sad if you're drunk enough and that sor tof drunk." Anne sounds less than amused, "That's the great trickiness of drink. A single drink loosens you, two lightens you and four drowns you."
20:05 <•Kotono> "All I know is that getting drunk leads to horrible decisions," Sanda counters, "AT least as far as businesses go."
20:06 <•Kotono> "That sounds like a story," Rina comments, leaning forward a bit. "Is it a good one?"
20:06 <•Kotono> "Eh. Mor einteresting than Anne, less interesting than playing." Sanda brushes it aside, "Unless you care about the price of turnips."
20:07 <Devar> Devar nods. "So the goal is tracking who has or had queens while prioritizing getting cards out of your hand. Got it." He says.
20:08 <•Kotono> With a long suffering sigh, "One day I'm just going to punch you in the face because my patience fails." As cards are dealt, "Exactly so. Of course, that means shuffling your cards to confound other players, particularly when they look away."
20:09 <•Kotono> "We'll play a hand without betting, in case Skaya's back quick and to give you a chance to learn," Rina offers, "But it's a good game to not take too seriously and have fun. Besides, it's only copper coins."
20:10 <•Kotono> "Only," Anne coughs once, "Truly we are besodden in wealth to speak in such terms."
20:11 <Devar> "That's the adventuring life." Devar agrees with a smile.
20:22 <•Kotono> "See? As I said, less interesting."Sanda says as you play. Is' as olid enough game, though luck seems on...

20:23 <•Kotono> Rina's side. A few hands and she has a nice pile of copper coins, while Sanda outright pouts. Anne accepts it with good graces, even as Sanda glares death.
20:24 <Devar> Devar just smiles. "I wonder how many people convert to Tymora during these games."
20:31 <•Kotono> "Too many," Sanda flops face down onto her arms, "I shouldn't have bet so much last hand. I hate everything about this game."
20:32 <•Kotono> "Still no Skaya right away, but I hope soon," Anne looks out a nearby window, into the morning sunshine. "If not today, then I can spent time at home."
20:34 <Devar> "Luck plays a significant portion in these games." Devar says. "Sometimes it's just chance."
20:36 <•Kotono> That gets Rina another Sanda glare, while Anne goes up to the window. She looks out it, "Maybe a flight would be better," she muses, "The peril of waiting on one person."
20:37 <•Kotono> "I can wait," Rina says, "I cleared the day."
20:38 <Devar> "Isn't patience a virtue of Mount Celestia?" Devar asks with a bright smile.
20:50 <•Kotono> Anne chuckles at that, but doesn't argue the point.

20:51 <•Kotono> Before another round can come? Skaya enters, a little pale, but intact. Sanda looks up quickly, "Skaya! There you are."
20:51 <•Kotono> "You brought a friend, too," Rina turns, "Oh well, still a good time. You alright?"
20:52 <Devar> "I know that face." Devar says, rising to go tap Skaya with his handy Rod of Bodily Restoration. OOC con damage healed
20:53 <Skaya> "I got transported right into a fight with some crazy elementals! But going back was painful."
20:56 <Devar> "Well, at least you got back." Devar says. "But it sounds like we're going tomorrow?"
20:58 <Skaya> "Yes! Your candle is actually very inaccurate!"
20:59 <Devar> "It's not -my- candle!" Devar says. "But let me see if I can provide more information either way." OOC: just for the sake of getting it officially identified I will Identify it today
21:00 <Skaya> "Please glance over my new spear as well?" Skaya asks. "Ah, be careful, it's a bit frosty."
21:00 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure. Okay then, any other prep before going the next day? Well, that and the spear.

21:01 <Devar> OOC: none here
21:05 <•Kotono> OOC: Quick post of what you'd expect.
21:08 <•Kotono> The next morning's cooler, summer's end coming closer. The party gets together, ready to go. OOC: Up to y'all how you're getting to Dareslan.
21:09 <Skaya> "I'll try to teleport us to just outside Dareslan?" Skaya proposes.
21:09 <Devar> Devar nods. "I'll be ready to fix you up." He says.
21:13 <•Kotono> "Somewhere we know," Sanda says, "The last thing we need is a mishap."
21:14 <Skaya> "I'll do my best and leave the rest to chance!" Though with her deity, perhaps he'd consider a mishap lucky?

21:23 <•Kotono> Woosh! The party appears outside Dareslan as Skaya feels suddenly sick and weak once more, her stomach churning and chest burning. Ow.
21:23 <•Kotono> Rina looks up, the weather a little warmer here and with hints of cloudiness. "Not perfect weather, but it'll do," she muses.
21:23 — Skaya gives Devar a thumbs up, blood dripping from her lips.
21:24 <•Kotono> Anne is at the ready, "Go ahead, Devar," Anne says, "I'll mend whatever needs mending after your rod works."
21:24 <Devar> Devar taps her once with the Rod. OOC 4 points of con healing
21:25 <Devar> "Was that enough? You look worse than usual." Devar says.
21:25 <Skaya> "Almost."
21:26 <Devar> He taps her again! OOC 4 more
21:27 <•Kotono> Anne follows that up with a light tap of Skaya's arm. OOC: CLW.

21:28 <•Kotono> Skaya's injuries mend, leaving her in good health once more, excepf for the taste of blood in her mouth.
21:28 <Skaya> "Thanks!" Skaya tells her friends, swallowing the blood back. "Want to fly around and see if anything happens, or go check out the library first?"
21:30 <Devar> "Maybe the library and the temple of Mystra? They might have better history books." Devar says.
21:30 <Skaya> "Sure, let's go and say hi!"
21:32 <•Kotono> Looking up in thought, "I suspect if information about this was easily found and it exists, it would be known by now," Anne counters, "Dareslan does not lack fliers, which leads me to believe that it does exist, it is higher up than most fliers can go. The air gets thinner high in the sky, which would not impeded the dead in the slightest."
21:33 <Devar> "Either that or it's so old no one remembers or believes it." Devar says.
21:35 <•Kotono> Thus, the party heads in. As you reach the gates, guards look and point, "The heroes of Dareslan!" One calls, as another shouts the same. "The heroes of Dareslan!"
21:36 <Devar> "Aw, that's always nice to hear." Devar says as he will look up and wave.
21:41 <•Kotono> The others wave as well, Anne smiling. Rina perks up as Sanda struts forward, nothing but a big, dopey smile on her face. "Come in," they part for you without a single word, "Do you need anything?"
21:42 <Devar> "We're looking for information on a local legend." Devar explains. "Can you point us to the best place for older history?" He says. "Like... really old."
21:43 <Skaya> "There seem to be all sorts of wonders spread out across the land," Skaya pipes up. In a sense, is an invisible ancient flying castle more otherworldly than what they'd found beneath Mellanics?
21:48 <•Kotono> "The High Reeve would know best, sirs and ma'ams," Is the answer, "He would be honored to meet all of you, or go to the temple of Mystra. They have many books there."
21:49 <Devar> "We may as well ask him first. They haven't sent him somewhere else since we were here last time, right?" Devar asks with a smile.
21:49 <Skaya> "It's only right to say hello when we visit!"
21:53 <•Kotono> "Not at all, sirs," You get salutes as you pass through, into Dareslan. Looks too, people stopping to stare, to wave, or call our your names. There's a bakery not far from the gates and a young woman rushes out, shoving fresh loaves of bread into Devar and Sanda's arms. "Here!"
21:53 <•Kotono> "Thank you," Anne accepts with grace, leaning forward to nab a roll. It's good white bread, fancy and well made. It's not cheap peasant bread, still steaming warm from the oven.
21:55 <Devar> "You are too kind." Devar says, happily breathing in the smell. Maybe they can gift the soldiers a nice snack later.
21:56 <•Kotono> "You saved my father's life," the woman says, "Come by anytime," she says as you pass, nothing but eager cheer.
21:56 <•Kotono> Rina has a bit herself, "There's some real perks to surviving all this."
21:57 <Devar> "The silver linings to that madman." Devar says.
21:58 — Skaya snags a roll for herself, and tears it in half. Who can say no to freshly-baked bread? She takes a bite, while offering the other half to Liza.
22:01 <•Kotono> Liza takes it happily as you head on...next time!

19:01 <•Kotono> You're escorted along with all haste. There's no problems, only appreciative people. There's not even much wait, the High Reeve has you escorted in. He takes one look over all of you, "You all look well, if more feathery."
19:04 <Devar> "That's not a bad way to see it." Devar says. "A lot's happened."
19:07 <•Kotono> "There was unpleasantness to the south and east, but that's handled," Anne comes in as well, while Sanda follows.
19:07 <•Kotono> "What she means is we managed to short circuit a bloody, pointless war," Rina comments, "But I suspect you know that."
19:08 <•Kotono> "It's still polite not to assume," Anne smiles slightly, "But yes, I would be surprised if you didn't know."
19:08 <Skaya> "Still, it seems that nature abhors peace. Sorry, Devar."
19:09 <•Kotono> "That Queen of yours is far too lucky to have capable heroes like yourselves," The High Reeve says bluntly, "Still, you aren't here to visit, are you?"
19:09 <•Kotono> "Peace is fragile," Sanda says, "Too many people see profit in that."
19:10 <Skaya> "We wanted to look in on something here," Skaya agrees.
19:13 <•Kotono> "There's stories of a flying castle full of the undead," Sanda goes on, "We want to try and find it."
19:14 <•Kotono> That gets the High Reeve to chuckle. "That old story? Every blue rise of Selune we get someone who's read about it. No one's ever found anything, adn if it existed, it's probably long gone. But if you want to fly about and search, it's good weather for it."
19:15 <Skaya> "Isn't it just?" Skaya agrees. "And it's a flying invisible castle! How do you even disprove its existence?"
19:19 <•Kotono> "That's why I have there's a small essay written about this for the High Reeves of Dareslan to read," The High Reeve explains, "In fact, I wish you well in being the one to prove all the others weren't good enough to find it."
19:19 <•Kotono> "A day in the skies is hardly a poor second place prize," Anne says brightly, "Thank you."
19:20 <Skaya> "Does the essay say what's been done, so we don't repeat the efforts of our predecessors?"
19:20 <•Kotono> "Not in particular, but I know some of our aerial knights have searched with the means to see the unseen and found nought," Is the answer you get.
19:22 <Skaya> "It's all up to luck, then!"
19:24 <•Kotono> "Good luck, then," Is what you get. OOC: Any particular other plans or prep, or things to otherwise try with this?
19:28 <Skaya> "Since spells to pierce invisibility weren't effective, we can dispense with them for the time being," Skaya voices. "Either it's a powerful invisibility spell, a combination of spells blocking it, or a matter of luck to even chance upon the castle. After all, it could be way up there. So let's just see how things look from above for now?"
19:29 <•Kotono> "Fortunately," At this Liza speaks up and taps her boots together. Little wings appear on the sides of them, "I came prepared, as I got a pair of these out of that cat."
19:30 <•Kotono> "That is helpful," Anne says, "That only leaves Sanda and Rina to carry. Troubling, but far less of a hassle as we can take turns."
19:31 <•Kotono> "That works for me, SKaya," SAnda agrees, "I don't think any of us have a better idea."
19:32 <Skaya> "If we spot something interesting, we can visit the temple of Mystra to investigate that!" Skaya says, before picking up Sanda. "Let's go~"

20:06 <•Kotono> More exploring. Higher up the air is thinner above the clouds, closer to the stars. Still no sign of a castle ,though it's hard for any but Anne or Skaya to be up here too long. The world below is so small from up here. You can see the countryside, the ocean to the north and the plains to the south. Everything seems so small up here, like tiny dots of a world far below. Perhaps this is how the
20:06 <•Kotono> divine see s it when they look down?
20:08 — Skaya looks at Dareslan to see if there's anything different about it from so high up. Was the city designed as some arcane sigil? Perhaps there is too much symmetry in the natural surroundings? Anything could be a clue!
20:15 <•Kotono> OOC: Give me an K:A check, then.
20:16 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for 35 (with inspiration)

20:24 <Skaya> With a considerable deal of disappointment, Skaya catches Sanda's eyes and gestures down. Should they descend?
20:24 <•Kotono> Sanda nods briefly.
20:24 <Skaya> With a sigh Skaya leads the way down.
20:25 <•Kotono> Down, down, down. Once back down to more breathable air, "I believe Skaya and I alone could go higher," Anne comments as the winds blow, "But even if we find  acastle up there, unless it provide air of your own, you would n't be able to explore it long."
20:25 <Skaya> "Let's give it a try? Since we can't return till tomorrow anyway."

20:31 <•Kotono> You all search a time more. Nothing's happening, but it's still pleasant to fly. Devar happens to carry Rina as they search, Sanda in Liza's arms. Quietly as you fly around, "I don't regret my c hoice, but I envy your flight so much," Rina admits, suddenly.
20:32 <Devar> "We still have that pendant that gives them to you." Devar says. "It just... well, it hurts a little bit the first time."
20:33 <•Kotono> "I'm wary of changing that much," Rina confesses, keeping her voice down to just the two of you, "But it's growing more appealing as time passes."
20:33 <Devar> "Well, we're also well-off enough that I'm sure finding an item that can emulate the magic that lets you fly is feasible to find." Devar says with a smile.
20:36 <•Kotono> "I think I may have to," Rina confesses, "There's something so freeing about this, about no longer needing to stay down there. Anne's spoken about it, how natural it is to leave the ground. Like it was part of her she was missing for most of her life."
20:39 <Devar> "Ah, it isn't that great. It's convenient for sure, but... well, all the people are down there, you know?" Devar says with a bit of a laugh. "Who's up here? Birds? Weird wizards who live by themselves in the sky?"
20:42 <•Kotono> "I'd like to meet a weird wizard who lives in the sky," Rina laughs at that, "Devar, can you imagine? Some flying cottage that a wizard lives in, so no puny peasants interrupt his magical mysteries."
20:47 <Devar> "I'm sure there's someone somewhere." Devar says with assurance. "If not here then some other plane - but yes, I imagine it's just like that. Either that or they're at the top of some mountain. I'm honestly surprised we didn't run into one in the elemental artifact place."
20:49 <•Kotono> "Our luck, good or bad," Rina concludes, "This looks like a waste of time, but it's been an enjoyable day."
20:49 <Devar> "Something must've started the rumor." Devar says. "It's way too specific, you know?"
20:53 <•Kotono> "That or a bard got creative and one thing lead to another," Rina lolls her head back, "Can you imagine, a drunken bard spun some silly story that lingered this long?"
20:54 <Devar> "Honestly, if we can't find it up here, I wonder how our elemental friend is doing. Maybe she'd know." Devar says.
20:55 <•Kotono> "That's an idea. She might know," Rina considers, "We could also get Anne to try a divination should this fail, too."
21:10 <•Kotono> Meanwhile, Liza swoops back in,  "Still nothing," Liza reports, Sanda held. "No luck here?"
21:11 <Devar> "Just some potential ideas of how to collect more information." Devar explains. He squints up above. "I can't see what they're doing, but hopefully they found something."
21:15 <•Kotono> "I hope so," Sanda gripes, "I'd hate for this day to be entirely wasted."
21:16 <Devar> "It's okay to just have a vacation day." Devar says. "Not every day has to be fighting a dragon."
21:16 <•Kotono> "Or a demon, or an elemental, or an army," Rina agrees.
21:17 <•Kotono> "Yes, but where's the profit in that?" Sanda counters, without any heat. "I was hoping to come back fantastically rich."
21:19 <Devar> "I'm sure we can find something interesting." Devar says. "I was going to go see if we could find our elemental friend again if this turned out to not work."
21:21 <•Kotono> "That's not a bad idea, if we can," Sanda reflects, "It's worth a try."

20:31 <•Kotono> ----
20:32 <•Kotono> The air up here is thin, the clouds below. Your voices are even strange like this, thinned out as well. Nonetheless Anne speaks as the two of you search, a pause as you pass by. "I'm not winded at all. I've been breathing less when I think of it, and I see now how little air I need. It's so strange, to realize something immutable before now has become nigh optional."
20:33 <Skaya> "I bet all the zombies in the invisible flying castle think the same way!"
20:35 <•Kotono> That gets Anne to laugh softly, "What a way to take the wonder out of that statement."
20:37 <Skaya> "I have to stand in for my bestie~" Skaya responds cheerfully in the thin oxygen. "Isn't it great to fly so high up? All the mortal troubles look insignificant from here."
20:43 <•Kotono> "They do," Anne looks down, then up. "I wonder what's higher? Could we fly to the stars themselves?"
20:44 <Skaya> "Let's see how high up we can go?"
20:49 <•Kotono> "Why not?" Anne agrees, taking off straight up. "Let's see how high it is."
20:49 — Skaya chases after her!
20:52 <•Kotono> OOC: Are you cold resistant or immune?
20:52 <Skaya> OOC: Immune to cold
20:54 <•Kotono> Higher. HIgher and higher. The blue of the skies turns to the black of night. Higher up. HIgher-ah! Suddenly both you and Anne are pushed back. It's like you hit a solid surface that bounced you back a dozen feet.
20:55 <Skaya> Could this be the invisible undead castle?! Skaya hovers in place and places her hand against that solid surface before gesturing to Anne and moving horizontally!
20:56 <•Kotono> Anne does that. You reach up and don't feel anything until you cross that distance again. Then you still don't feel anything, really, but you're pushed back nonetheless. It's not painful, it's not hard, but it definitely moves you backwards. Anne nods and moves her lips, but no words come out.
20:58 — Skaya takes out a length of rope and tosses it up! Time to see if it's just them or anything trying to head higher. Can planes even have barriers like that?
21:00 <•Kotono> The rope is not bounced back. It falls up and then back down as normal.
21:02 — Skaya flies over to Anne and then writes over her palm with her fingers, 'End of the world? Or invisible zombie castle?'
21:07 <•Kotono> Anne hums and points at the latter, then shrugs. She tries flying up again to the same result, then takes out a small bit of leftover bread. She tosses it high, and it likewise is reflected back. She then hums and looks at your ring thoughtfully.
21:08 — Skaya shakes her head. She's not going to throw it! Who knows where it will drop!
21:10 <•Kotono> Anne looks somehow mildly annoyed. She flies up again as far as she can go, surely inches away from it. She breathes out air at it and hums again. She spits and it falls right back onto her face. After she wipes that away, she studies it in thought, arms crossed as she hovers in place.
21:12 <Skaya> On reflection, they should've gotten the second ring from Devar to facilitate talking. Then again, what if there's an emergency and one of their groups needs a rescue? Decisions, decisions....
21:12 — Skaya gestures to her right, and holds up 5 fingers. 'Fly for 5 minutes,' she writes on Anne's palm.
21:16 <•Kotono> Anne takes a moment and slowly, carefully mouths, "Talk. Down." No words heard, but repeated a few times before Anne begins to descend.
21:18 <Skaya> With a shrug, Skaya follows!
21:23 <•Kotono> Once down enough to allow for words, "I meant to try teleporting past it," Anne explains, "I suspect you misunderstood my intent. More truthfully, research it first as well. While curious, the barrier may be for our safety. Selune may not wish for others to come that close to her, or Lathander's light grows too bright beyond the skies."
21:24 <Skaya> "We can't teleport anymore today anyway," Skaya muses. "I did misunderstand! And I'm okay with researching it, I just want to confirm the barrier is large enough that flying in one of the directions for five or ten minutes at top speed still doesn't get us around it."
21:31 <•Kotono> "Let's," Anne says, and sure enough? You find the same barrier even five minutes apart.
21:33 — Skaya gestures for Anne to go and rejoin the others! If they'd actually drifted too far apart, that's what the telepathy rings are for!
21:38 <•Kotono> OOC: Both of you going back?

21:39 <•Kotono> Soon enough the party reunites. "Besides that barrier, we didn't find anything," Anne explalins, "Though the barrier is fascinating, it's also not what we set out to find."
21:40 <Skaya> "We went to find the invisible flying zombie castle, but we chanced upon the end of the world!"
21:40 <Devar> "Or something preventing people from getting to the invisible flying zombie castle." Devar says.
21:41 <Skaya> "The barrier is so large that castle would have to be the size of a small city-state."
21:43 <•Kotono> "Probably not, no,." Anne agrees, "Still, do all of you have any ideas or should we return back?"
21:44 <Skaya> "Since we can't really go back until tomorrow at the earliest, why not go to Mystra's temple and look for clues about this barrier?"
21:44 <Devar> "My only idea was to ask our elemental friend if we came up with nothing." Devar offers. "If they're even still here."
21:45 <Skaya> "I mean, we could. But isn't it too early?"
21:46 <•Kotono> "WE can look if all else fails," Anne suggests, "For now, how about we return and try the library first?"
21:47 <Skaya> "I'm already all for that!"

19:12 <•Kotono> The party spends some time reading. The morning passes into the afternoon until Rina happens to be the one to find something. "Finally, good book suggestion," she calls, "I found something."
19:12 <Skaya> "Oh? Do share!"
19:19 <•Kotono> Rina reads out loud, "Should one fly too high, and not succumb to the lack of air and the startling cold, for whom would imagine it would get colder closer to the light of Lathander, truly there are mysteries far beyond those we understand and yet are reach to as surely as plants reach towards the warm sunshine from above-" Rina clears her throat, "Hold on, the author uses way too many words
19:19 <•Kotono> and commas." She skims ahead before, "Here we go. Ahem. One cannot fly to the stars, before a great barrier seals sky from stars. To transcend this is to transcend the limits of mortal king and reach for more. Woe be who is judged unworthy of this, yet praised be who is found worthy to stride admit the stars themselves."
19:20 <•Kotono> *kind
19:21 <•Kotono> "I couldn't imagine that as the work of anything but the divine," Anne admits after listening, "An implicit warning not to reach too greedily seems only wise, no matter how much what lies above tempts."
19:22 <Skaya> "It seems like a one way trip awaits if we breach that barrier," Skaya muses. "What now? Want to see if we'll have a bit of luck about that magical castle?"
19:24 <•Kotono> "I can' think of anything better," Sanda confirms, "Shall we?"
19:24 <•Kotono> "It is what we came here for," Rina agrees.
19:24 <Devar> "We have options - books, praying, seeing if our elemental friend has recovered and is even still here." Devar says.
19:25 <Skaya> "Let's start with the books, then!"
19:29 <•Kotono> OOC: Fair enough. Give me K:A checks for this or K:HIstory, whichever you prefer.
19:30 → Kobot joined (~Misukibot@8238AF6B.BE252E4B.72F7FA92.IP)
19:30 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for K:History and use inspiration for 31!
19:30 <Devar> Roll 1d20+16 you never know
19:30 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+16 you never know --> [ 1d20=6 ]{22}
19:30 <Devar> OOC I mean you always know but still
19:34 <•Kotono> You do find the occasional mention of it. It follows the same rough pattern, castle in the sky full of undead above Dareslan. It's persistent across several hundred years of scholarship, never confirmed but mentioned again and again.
19:35 <Skaya> "What if it's actually in a different dimension?" Skaya muses. "Like a different Dareslan? Perhaps it's actually gone now, unless we make it appear again."
19:36 <•Kotono> "I don't thinks usually work that way," Anne reflects, "But if it's gone, what profit is it to make it appear here? What sanity?"
19:37 <•Kotono> "Our bottom line and our treasure stores," Sanda counters right away.
19:37 <Skaya> "All those undead are still out there? What if they just come out-- oh yes there's treasure too."
19:37 <•Kotono> "Treasure is always worthwhile," Liza sniffs.
19:37 <•Kotono> "I mean that it if it's not here, bringing it here would be foolishness." Anne counters.
19:38 <•Kotono> "Profitable foolishness," Sanda reasons right back, "What if it's outisde of that barrier but it can slip past it sometimes?"
19:38 <Skaya> "What if we can't get there but they can get here?!"
19:38 <•Kotono> "What if the undead king of it uses that to secretly terrorize and kidnap innocent people to be food for the undead and rise as skeletons or zombies?" Sanda gasps, a hand to her mouth.  "Diabolical!"
19:39 <•Kotono> Anne takes a long look at Sanda and rubs her temple long and slow.
19:39 <Skaya> "What if the undead somehow reproduce while trapped in there?"
19:39 <•Kotono> "What Sanda means is that it's our responsibility to stop it if so, and find out." Rina decides.
19:40 <•Kotono> "I'll cast a divination," Anne announces, "And seek guidance, if it'll make all of you sleep easier. If there's nothing to be done about it, we can let this go."
19:41 <Skaya> "Okay! And if it's unclear, we can take Devar's suggestion and take a trip below."
19:42 <Devar> "I feel like Moore and his pantheon don't care much for the undead anyway. If it's real they'd probably want it dealt with." Devar says.
19:43 <•Kotono> "If," Anne agrees, "And if not, not." Rising, "You're correct, though. It' snot as well known as some other aspects, but Moore has some enmity with Orcus."
19:44 <Skaya> "Good luck!"
19:50 <•Kotono> Anne casts. She returns, smelling faintly of incense after a brief purchase of such, before, "Ahem," she coughs into her hand. "I had a vision when I cast, an omen. I saw a dark star in the sky, one that loomed heavier and heavier in the night sky as I gazed at it. As if it came closer every breath."
19:51 <Skaya> "Yes!" Skaya cheers, pumping her fist ecstatically. "The ancient invisible flying castle exists!"
19:52 <•Kotono> "I told you so," Sanda sounds smug as can be, which Anne promptly ignores.
19:52 <Devar> "Of course you can only find it at night." Devar says.
19:52 <•Kotono> "At night at the least, possibly with other conditions," Anne muses, "At the least, why not stay afternoon and explore come night fall? Perhaps something else will come of it."
19:53 <•Kotono> Rina, listening along, "I like the idea. At the least, I want to see what the stars look up that high up."
19:53 <Skaya> "Should we invest in a scroll of seeing past the invisible?"
19:53 <•Kotono> "At the least," Anne concurs, "It wouldn't hurt."
19:54 <•Kotono> A few more nods about that in general.
19:56 <Skaya> "At least we're at the right place for that!"
20:01 <Skaya> OOC: Let's get 4 see invis scrolls?
20:11 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure, you have the connections for that, so post the expense.
20:12 <Skaya> OOC: Posted. Let's go~
20:12 <Devar> OOC: very minor thing but Devar will tell the Mystrans about the other Clearwater pieces and let them document them if they want to. Since they gave him the helmet originally
20:13 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure, I'll make a note of that.
20:19 <•Kotono> Night falls. What heat there is fades as the Dareslan is blanketed by the summer night. The party is able to go forth as they please, no one stopping them. OOC: Go ahead with however you're going to approach this.
20:21 <Skaya> "How about we do it in stages?" Skaya proposes. "First let's fly as far up as we can and see if there's anything reminiscent of your vision, Anne. Then, we can use two scrolls and fly up together while the others keep searching below."
20:21 <Devar> "I'll keep an eye out for magic as we go up." Devar says.
20:25 <•Kotono> Anne nods and there's no objections, so up the party goes. Up, up, up and up some more as...OOC: D100+1 all.

20:31 <•Kotono> The party flies up. Past the clouds the stars are brighter nad bigger, luminous in the night sky. It's beautiful in a way only the most cloudless, clearest nights can be. A half moon rises in the sky, joining all the stars. It's not yet time for Anne and Skaya to rise even higher, but the party comes together. "Nothing, but the view is incredible," Rina says form Devar's arms. "So bright. No
20:31 <•Kotono> wonder the birds always take to the sky."
20:32 <Skaya> "And the only thing that could make it beautiful is the ancient magical flying castle!" Skaya adds to Rina's words with a sigh. "Filled to the brim with undead."
20:33 <Devar> "Given that barrier, it kind of feels..." he shakes his head. "It is beautiful, and will be more so when we don't have to worry about undead falling out of the sky."
20:35 <Skaya> "That would probably be the worst."
20:37 <•Kotono> "The worst," Anne almost smiles for some reason, as she looks up, "We'll see if we find or see anything up there."
20:38 <Skaya> "And perhaps you'll see it down here? Maybe it lowers its orbit the later it is in the night."
20:38 <•Kotono> "Good luck," Rina offers, "Don't get in too much trouble."
20:38 <Skaya> "I promise that if I see the castle I'll go back to take you all with me."

20:53 <•Kotono> Anne and Skaya fly high. Here the stars are even brighter, constallations seeming so close as to see them. The moon joins them, closer and close enough that you can see the half normally hidden in the darkness. Craters canb e glimpsed on the surface of the moon, along with hints of lakes and rivers, moving across it.
20:54 <Skaya> The adventures one might have on its surface! Ah, but unless Selune invites you it's probably a bad idea to even try. And no undead would actually be on the moon, of course.
21:01 <•Kotono> Anne likewise looks up. She loses herself in it several moments before she sighs silently and continues her search.  Shes till gives Skaya a look, as if she understands without a word being spoken.
21:02 <Skaya> Too bad, Anne. There's no chance we're thinking the same thing! But as a friend, let's pretend so all the same! Skaya searches about for as long as the scroll holds out, before gesturing that they should start descending.

21:11 <Skaya> "Nooo!" Skaya screams in the vacuum, before clamping her hand over her mouth and looking about hurriedly. She just had to keep joking about the flying zombie castle, didn't she? What if there are no confirmed sightings because the zombies abduct flier?!
21:21 <•Kotono> OOC: Do you have darkvision or something similar?
21:22 <Skaya> OOC: I do in fact have Darkvision 60ft
21:23 <•Kotono> A wordless scream in the dark, everything soundless in the airless emptiness. You stand in an empty room, stained with blood all over and with a strange, wiggling magical pattern burnt into the stone floor. Three creatures are here, each one a big, fat and bloated creature. A rotted corpse, stomachs bulging. They have white eyes that fester with maggots, wearing butcher's aprons stained with
21:23 <•Kotono> blood. One has a heavy, oversized butcher's knife, another has a giant pair of shears and the last a club. Worse yet, they're approaching you.
21:24 <Skaya> 'I found the zombies!' Skaya screams in her mind. And if Aglaine works, in Devar's mind as well!
21:25 <•Kotono> OOC: Go ahead and send that in #evil to Devar.

21:28 <Devar> In Skaya's mind, 'I'm coming, just hang on!'

21:54 <•Kotono> A wretch inside of Skaya as at the same time, the club creature swings. It's strange. The club angles up, pulled up, like it's iron attracted to a magnet, and that magnet is your head. The impact knocks you silly as you land hard on the streets of Dareslan. Your head rings horribly and you lose track of a little time, wound still bleeding and head nothing but pain. But you're dimly aware of

20:54 <•Kotono> Nothing. It's quite chill and thin aired up here, no sign of the castle. You have Rina in your arms, who yawns suddenly. She blushes before, "Sorry. Not trying to get you yawning."

21:24 <•Kotono> "If he never makes an off color remark again, it'll be too soon," Rina vows, "I have high hopes."
21:25 <Skaya> 'I found the zombies!' Skaya screams in her mind. And if Aglaine works, in Devar's mind as well!
21:27 <Devar> Devar blinks and looks up and starts flying that way immediately. "Hold your breath." He says quickly, as he takes in a breath of his own to shout as loud as he can, "ANNE! SHE FOUND IT!" And then he takes a deep breath again to hold it as he rises.

22:12 <•Skaya> "I was pulled into a room without light or air, with three speedy zombies," Skaya reports. "I was instantly overwhelmed, and even though I focused on escaping I still took two wounds and nearly died. Their weapons were cursed pretty strongly, to the point I barely managed to heal the damage." Tapping Sanda with the bracers, she adds, "Without this loaner I would've died. And I was only there for a few seconds."
22:15 <Devar> Dear taps Skaya with his Rod of Bodily Restoration OOC: Con damage fixed
22:16 <•Kotono> Sanda looks pale at that, "I almost asked for them back yesterday."
22:17 <•Kotono> Anne's expression is troubled as healing comes, "No wonder few stories of it spread. Few would survive such tactics."
22:17 <•Kotono> Liza comes over and gives Skaya a big hug, not a word said.
22:18 <•Skaya> "I have no idea how I got there," Skaya says, hugging Liza back. "Just that a blink and I was there, in a blood-soaked room with a stone floor and this wiggling rune on it. Maybe it's a teleport one?"
22:19 <Devar> "Maybe. But we have an idea of what we're up against and can try to prepare." Devar says. "No air, huh? Hm... can we create some so we can speak?"
22:21 <•Skaya> "I wasn't in a good spot to try, but it's an obvious problem with magic," Skaya says with a sigh. "And while I can probably teleport us back eventually, even ignoring the issues with my teleport ring we won't be able to escape before it recharges. So... do we get some scrolls? Or table this for now?"
22:22 <•Kotono> "Let's rest and think about it," Anne suggests, "We can discuss it in the morning, with clear heads."
22:23 <Devar> "I can cast Dimension Door, which in theory should be enough, but Anne is right." Devar says. "Maybe we can borrow some specifically anti undead equipment for this."

19:03 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay, so rest was in the cards. What else is y'all's next moves?
19:05 Skaya set the topic: Skaya: 100/100 (Sanda's bracers of +4CON) Devar 113/113 (-2 str/dex) Anne 83/83 Sanda 60/60 Rina 85/85 (-4 str -3 dex)

19:06 <Skaya> "Let's figure out our challenges if we're actually going to face those undead," Skaya says the following morning as they gather for some breakfast. "The easy part first. Total darkness. Who can actually see in that?"
19:07 <•Kotono> Anne raises her hand, followed by Sanda. Rina adds, "I think most of us can. Liza?"
19:07 <•Kotono> "I can prepare to, but true, pitch black darkness will require something," Liza admits.
19:08 <•Kotono> Anne sits back, her breakfast mostly picked at rather than eaten. "Even then, the range of our vision in the darkness isn't the best. Better than nothing, but not the best."
19:08 <Skaya> "Perhaps we can cast Light in advance on a few pebbles and then toss them around the room? Figure out the rest once we clear it."
19:08 <•Kotono> "Cheap and sensible," LIza agrees, then smiles, "Good play, Skaya."
19:09 <•Kotono> Sanda clicks her tongue, "That's the easy one, at least."
19:09 <Skaya> "Next is air. It's important for several reasons. One is that most people need it to survive, another is that we can't communicate easily without it, the last is that we can't cast spells in its absence. Should we try to tackle each aspect or try to solve the lack of air itself?"
19:11 <Devar_> "Just as part of this, I wanted to mention possibly visiting Miss Spine once we figure out what we need. She may have unique tools we can't find around here." Devar says. "As for air... I think there's some sort of magic items that can help, but I'm fuzzy on the details."
19:11 <•Kotono> "We need air," Anne agrees, "Even those of us who can survive without it are crippled with it," A glance over at Devar, "That's a good thought. That does sound right, Deva, but I confess I don't recall specifics either."
19:12 <•Kotono> *without it
19:13 <•Kotono> For her part, Sanda looks thoughtful, "Was it cold there as well?"
19:14 <Skaya> "Still, let's explore the alternatives first?" Skaya proposes. "A spell that turns you into a form that doesn't require air may well protect you from infection by the undead, too. And we do have two rings of telepathy, so maybe that could work. As for spells, do we truly need them? Sanda can channel some of hers, and Anne, would relying on positive energy work without air?"
19:14 <Skaya> At Sanda's question, she frowns. "I don't actually get hurt by cold now...."
19:14 <Skaya> OOC: Was it cold?
19:15 <•Kotono> OOC: IT was cold.
19:15 <Skaya> "Still, it felt like it was cold."
19:15 <•Kotono> "I dislike plunging into an unknown, highly magical nest of undead to begin with." Anne counter,s "Going there with only some of our capability goes past brave and into suicidal."
19:16 <•Kotono> "We'll need cold wards as well," Rina agrees, "Also, Anne has a point. I know she can't heal herself that way, so going without her spells is asking her to get in trouble."
19:19 <Skaya> "While normally Devar and I could manage to heal Anne, it may be difficult in such a fight," Skaya agrees. "Alright. And one last thing is the actual wounds. They become immediately infected and are pretty difficult to treat. It might be best to see if we could prevent the infection at the very least."
19:21 <•Kotono> "Okay, how then?" Sanda asks. "That's not my area of expertise."
19:21 <•Kotono> "Besides not getting hit?" Rina counters right back.
19:23 <Skaya> "I heard about a spell that turns your body into ooze for a short time. It's not the best since it prevents you from attacking, but maybe there's a better one?"
19:24 <Devar_> "If it isn't possible, we might be able to get transformations from our elemental friend." Devar says.
19:29 <•Kotono> "We can try knocking on every door," Anne says after som ethought, "How about we start with Spine and work from there? Besides, Sanda gets wrinkly and crabby if she's otu of water for too long."
19:29 <•Kotono> Sanda's expression tightens, "Excuse me?"
19:30 <•Kotono> Rina sighs as Anne smiles slightly, "Like something that dries out too much."
19:30 <Skaya> "Rina, are you alright with teleporting into the ocean? Actually into the water?"
19:31 <•Kotono> "I won't like it, but I'm not going to any worse than an irritated cat," Rina even smiles, turning away from Anne and Sanda's argument. "It's unpleasant, but anything more than that."
19:32 <Skaya> "Sanda, want to allow all of us except Anne to breathe underwater and then I'll teleport us over?" Skaya proposes. "Actually, this could be funny if only we could teleport to the undead with a room's worth of water."
19:33 <Devar_> "Oh - if you guys get whisked off again, do you want to meet us here?" Devar asks.
19:33 <Skaya> "Since plane shift isn't terribly accurate we can just coordinate once we're on the same plane."
19:34 <Devar_> Devar nods.
19:35 <•Kotono> OOC: Going to head on over then? Okay. Give me  ad100, one of you. Doesn't matter which, go with whomever feels luckier.

19:41 <•Kotono> Aquariar is quiet enough this time. No signs of massive guards at the ready or trouble, just the trade below the seas. However, a little away from town, a glass dome stands. You can't see within it, but it's huge, as big as a castle. A path of pink and red stones connects it to Aquariar, some underwater citizens coming and going from it.
19:42 <•Kotono> Rina shivers and rubs her arms, posture slumped and hair limp and heavy with water. She looks around and sneezes once, "I'm fine," She waves off any looks.
19:43 <Devar_> Huh, did someone master that weird fortress thing? Devar smiles as Rina. "You're not too convincing, but noted."
19:44 <Skaya> Rina looks miserable so Skaya pretends not to see it. "Miss Spine first?" she asks, wiping away the blood on her lips. Surely her friends will heal her right back!
19:46 <Devar_> Devar will indeed tap her with his Rod to restore her. OOC: 4 com damage healed

19:54 <Skaya> "Thanks, guys!"
19:57 <Devar_> "It'll stop being a problem soon." Devar says with a smile.
19:58 <•Kotono> With that, the party swims into Aquariar. You get looks but not too many, the trip uneventful. However, there's a complication. Gentle, shimmering fields of ruby red force block the entrance to her tower. Engraved in a stone tablet placed by the door reads, "Dear customers, I am currently away. I shall return in short time."
19:59 <•Kotono> Sanda reads it, looking unamused. "So is that an I'm at lunch short time, I'm traveling short time or what?"
19:59 <Devar_> "You could ask her, couldn't you?" Devar asks.
19:59 <•Kotono> Liza sniffs slightly, which is a wet, miserable sound underwater. "That or she's at that dome."
20:00 <Skaya> "No, that would be rude," Skaya tells Devar, before looking around. Surely there is an open store or food stall in the area? They can just ask there!
20:03 <•Kotono> Not too far is an open air stall. Well, open water. Here pottery in a riot of intense, bright colors can be seen. "Come, come," A mermaid calls sweetly, nothing but blonde haired, green eyed beauty. Liza glances and blushes hotly before looking away, arms crossed and muttering in Elven. "I have all the best sales and deals on my pottery, made with the essence of coral."
20:04 <•Kotono> Anne swims over and makes a show of studying the pottery, while Sanda looks on with a critical eye. "Vivid colors," She says, "They're striking. My friend has some questions, but so do I. Namely, what are the prices?"
20:04 — Skaya examines the selection of plates for something Liza might like, before turning to glance over at Anne. What a great question!
20:09 <•Kotono> "That depends. A plate or something simple like this," A tap to a plate in vivid, sunset pinks, "One small pearl and five coral shards. A pot or similar vessel?" This one, with a deep,  rich purple tint to it mixed with red, "Three small pearls."
20:10 <•Kotono> Sanda looks on thoughtfully, "These would sell well on the surface, especially the color," she remarks, offhandedly, "But I'd have to buy quite a few then to make it worthwhile. Tell me," Going on, "WHat sort of deal can we make if I buy a large quantity?"
20:10 <•Kotono> Anne glances at SAnda all the while, but holds her tongue.
20:10 <•Kotono> Rina drifts over to Devar, and murmurs, "Colorful, if nothing else. What do you think?"
20:11 <Skaya> They really do look nice! But it'd be rude to interrupt Sanda, so Skaya waits for both her question and her far more modest purpose. Unless Sanda asks about the tower first!
20:11 <•Kotono> With a bright smile, "Why don't we talk, miss?" The mermaid invites, just a hint of a sharpness to her smile.
20:12 <•Kotono> Sanda matches that smile, "Yes, let's talk." OOC: More.
20:12 <Devar_> "I'm not much of an art person." Devar admits. "I understand the appeal to other people but... it's just pottery to me. I know, not very romantic." He says with a small laugh.
20:12 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+11 Sanda Profession (Shopkeeper) is relevant here

20:13 <•Kotono> As Sanda and the mermaid begin to haggle, Rina murmurs back, "Not romantic at all, but I was thinking the color would stand out. Good dye's not cheap nor are good clothes, but a piece of pottery with these colors provides something beyond browns and grays forever."
20:15 <Devar_> "Just don't start making all the pottery you have be on fire all the time." He says with a grin. "Though that would be a talking point!"
20:17 <•Kotono> Rina laughs as Sanda and the mermaid haggle away, arguing. In general the mermaid seems a little better at it, or maybe she's in her home terrain. "Two small pearls for pottery and one small pearl for plates and similar," Is at last agreed to, "And you'll buy 200 plates and 100 pots? That's...4,500 gold in your surface coins?"
20:18 <•Kotono> "6,000," Sanda corrects after a moment, "Since it's 15 gold per small pearl." She quickly counts on her fingers, "Yes, 6,000 total."
20:19 <Devar_> Is Sanda just correcting the amount out of loyalty to mercantilism?
20:20 <•Kotono> The two shake hands and then Sanda promptly swims over to Rina, pulling her away. The two start to whisper to each other, Rina's expression is pique that fades to thoughtfulness, and she nods after a little bit. The two return, "We'll pick it all up later today, we have more business here first. We'll pay then."
20:21 <•Kotono> "Thank you," The mermaid is all sweet smiles after that, "I'll stay as long as you need to finish up today."
20:22 <Skaya> It does seem like Sanda got a discount, and if she thinks she can sell them for even more, that's good business.
20:22 <Skaya> "Ah, I just want a single plate myself," Skaya tells the mermaid. "Assuming my friend hasn't taken all of them?"
20:23 <•Kotono> "I'll cover that," Sanda waves it off, "Though my friend also has a question."
20:24 <Skaya> "That's true! I was hoping to ask when that sign went up," Skaya says, gesturing at the forcefield covering the nearby tower.
20:28 <•Kotono> "A few hours ago. Lady Spine puts that out whens he has to go out but intends to return this day." The mermaid explains.
20:29 <Skaya> "Oh, how lovely! Then waiting here is a good call," Skaya says cheerfully. "Ah, since I'm asking anyway, would you happen to know what was that glass dome near Aquariar? I don't remember it from my previous visit."
20:30 <•Kotono> "That thing? All those treasures that emerged got the attention of the marid, who send a diplomat to investigate. They're also selling marid goods there."
20:32 <Skaya> "You don't say! How exciting!"
20:35 <•Kotono> "That does sound interesting," Sanda looks back in that direction, "Thanks."
20:36 <•Kotono> "They're getting lots of attention, the Coral Throne is quite famous, of course," the mermaid goes on, "The Padisha's attention is worth a lot."
20:36 <Skaya> "How about it? Want to go and take a look?" Skaya offers to the others.
20:38 <Devar_> "There's no reason not to." Devar says.
20:42 <•Kotono> "No reason why not," Sanda agrees pleasantly enough, "Plus it's an opportunity."
20:42 <•Kotono> "As long as they don't try anything," A hint of sourness in Rina's voice, "I don't know why - no, I know why. Stupid instincts. I get the feeling I'd be a lot more tolerant if this were efreet."
20:43 <Skaya> "Thanks! You've been really helpful!" Skaya tells the mermaid shopkeeper cheerfully, before settling on a plate with a shade that looks like it'd match Liza's eyes.
20:43 <Skaya> OOC: I suppose I'm actually skilled? So 10 Appraise for 25?
20:46 → Devar joined  ⇐ Devar_ quit
20:49 <•Kotono> It's easy enough to get a good one. You can tell the merchandise is high quality. If nothing else, Sanda didn't choose poorly.
20:50 <Skaya> Sanda really does have a good eye for business! Even if cute mermaids get the better deal.
20:52 <•Kotono> With that the party heads to the marid dome. It's not a far swim, and when you read there? Two marid, clad in rich blue and white armor inlaid with pearl, stand by the entrance. Both bear heavy tridents at the ready, but neither does anything but not to all of you. Rina gets a much longer look, gazes colder and sharper.
20:53 <Skaya> So long as Rina isn't getting turned away at the door, it's up to her if she wants to put up with it!
20:56 <Devar> Devar is honestly surprised he never gets any looks. Maybe if Storm's Eye were here? Hm, how is he doing anyway? He'll have to check later.
20:59 <•Kotono> Rina hmphs as you step right within. Inside the water is warmer, pleasant. It's soothing, almost like a bath. Statues of stone and coral decorate the way, a pathway that leads towards dozens of open water shops, where goods of all kinds can be glimpsed. Marid guards patrol the area, though none draw their weapons and most look friendly on a glance. Past all of that sits an elegant, miniature
20:59 <•Kotono> palace of gold and pearl, fitting in and taking up most of the center of the dome. Distantly, you can hear music from within.
21:00 <Skaya> "It's kind of weird to feel like you're taking a bath while you're just basically walking down the street or entering a building, isn't it?" Skaya whispers to Liza.
21:04 <•Kotono> Liza swims slowly, "It feels so good, though. Then again," with a wink, "Bathing together is fun."
21:04 <•Kotono> Meanwhile Sanda walks at a good clip, as if she's not underwater. "This feels nice, and look at all those sales. There has to be some good things there."
21:05 <•Kotono> Anne crosses her arms, looking unamused, but she's easily ignored.
21:05 <Skaya> "It is!" Skaya agrees. "Looking for any sales yourself?"
21:07 <Devar> Devar pats Anne on the back gently as he looks around.
21:13 <•Kotono> "I just spent 6,000," Sanda reflects, "Well, of Rina's money on loan, so well..." Coughing, "Why don't you look for me?"
21:13 <Skaya> "I still have some money!"
21:14 <Devar> "Did we actually sell any of those dwarven items? They might be worth more here." He says.
21:14 <•Kotono> Anne returns that with a slight smile. "It's harder to speak without gulp glup," Anne then coughs several times, pounding her chest and scowling. SHe closes her eyes and breathes in and out, "Harder without mag-gulg!" As Anne struggles, Sanda brightens and nods cheerfully.
21:16 <Skaya> How childish! At least Skaya hopes it's Sanda's childish games, even as she looks around for anything fun.
21:22 <•Kotono> OOC: Anything in particular there, Skaya?
21:23 <Skaya> OOC: Let's look for anything that lets you breathe, plus the usual factotum-themed stuff
21:27 <Devar> OOC: I'm poor so not really looking for anything for the record

21:29 <•Kotono> All of you wander and take in the sights. Eventually you end up to the side, where a single stone archway stands. A doorway without a door, but nonetheless a single marid guard stands.  "This? If you see this, you are worthy. You may enter." He declares.
21:29 <Skaya> "Thank you," Skaya says politely, swimming inside.
21:30 <Devar> Devar follows along, leaning over to Sanda to whisper, "Some kind of sales tactic? Or do you think it's legitimate?" He asks, following along.
21:36 <•Kotono> "I think it's gar-" Sanda stops as she strides in. Inside you stand in the air. You're dry instantly. Inside is a tent, the interior of a big, fancy one. The floor is thick carpet, braziers hanging from the ceiling that shed light and warmth. Here dozens of shelves of books and scrolls stand. Sitting at a table, reading a thick book, is a marid. She pages through slowly, as if leisurely reading.
21:36 <•Kotono> She's clad in a dress of pure, pristine white. Nothing more than a noble lady's sunddress form her dreams. Beyond that she's barefoot, her black hair falling long and straight. Nearby her is a man standing, this one looking no more like a human with deep red eyes. Eyes that are wholly red, wearing a suit of rich finery and jeweled decorations. "Customers." he muses, "My dear, look."
21:37 <•Kotono> The marid looks up, her expression a dreamy, distant one. "Customers, you're right." she says. "Mortals of no small power. No, not mortals."
21:37 <Skaya> "Close enough for government work?"
21:37 <•Kotono> "Not mortals," The man agrees in a gentle tone to her, "Welcome, travelers, for you must be such to be beneath the waves."
21:38 <•Kotono> "Their paths to death are not there. Time will not touch them, except for one." The woman goes on, "Only violence will open that path to them."
21:39 <•Kotono> "Close enough," The man agrees, "I am Liam Blighted. A name given in contempt, but kept in pride." He comes forward, "That is my wife, Lady Isaleen."
21:40 <Skaya> Once she spends enough time on that ship, Liza will probably gain enough from the planes to transcend mortality as well? Then again, her training could just take her there with time.
21:40 <Skaya> "A pleasure to make your acquaintance," she responds. "I'm Skaya, and yes, a visitor here."
21:40 <•Kotono> "Anne of Moore," Anne introduces herself, "That's Sanda and Rina, as well as Liza and Devar."
21:41 <Devar> "Devar of Eldath." He adds with a smile. "A pleasure, sir and Lady."
21:41 <•Kotono> "I am a humble merchant of books, scrolls and magic. Of course, the first two are mostly magic as well." He greets, "I only seek worthy clienele, rather than tiresome mortals and chasers of the momentary."
21:42 <•Kotono> "Winter hates all of you, you know." Lady Isaleen speaks up. "It loathes you to its core. I see that."
21:43 <•Kotono> "We noticed," Rina's voice is wary, "Are you a seer?"
21:43 <Skaya> "It's so strange, too! We haven't even begun to make trouble for Auril. Why is she so anxious?"
21:49 <•Kotono> "Peace," A hand on his wife's shoulder, "Still, you have come here. We sell magical books and scrolls of all kinds."
21:51 <Skaya> "In that case, let me cut straight to the chase," Skaya says. "Let's say that you were going to a terribly cold crypt with no light or air. Do you have anything that would resolve the obvious issues? Something enduring rather than a combination of scrolls?"
21:52 <•Kotono> "The undead?" Liam asks after a moment, "No air benefits them, particularly to stifle enemy spellcasters. Even those who don't breathe can run into a miserable surprise that way. No light and bitter cold won't harm them, either."
21:52 <Skaya> "It is indeed the undead! The worst kind, too."
21:52 <•Kotono> "Yes, just so," Anne concurs, "I have no doubt intelligent undead are behind it, such as vampires, liches or suchlike."
22:01 <•Kotono> The answer to that comes...next time!
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

19:07 <•Kotono> "I may have something," Is the answer at last, "We specialize in scrolls, but..hm. Dear?"
19:07 <•Kotono> Lady Isaleen hums to herself, "Yes, yes, that could, but at great price, of course."
19:08 <•Kotono> "I was afraid you'd say that," Sanda's entire demeanor changes. "Why are useful things always so expensive.
19:08 <•Kotono> "
19:09 <Devar> "You'd probably have to ask Waukeen." Devar says with a smile.
19:09 <•Kotono> "An Air Bottle could provide all the air you need," Liam continues, "Are you familiar with bottles that produce unlimited water? It's the same principle, but for clean, fresh air."
19:09 <•Kotono> "I've heard of such in stories," Anne agrees.
19:10 <Skaya> The most expensive things are free, anyway! "Wouldn't everyone need one?" Skaya voices. "It'd take quite a while to fill any reasonably-sized room otherwise."
19:16 <•Kotono> "It emits air fast, and you don't need that much to avoid suffocation," Liam says in thought, "And a little air is enough to make sound to cast spells. It's better than a bunch of spells that expire, at least."
19:16 <•Kotono> "It depends on how expensive it is or how hard it si to get," Rina points out, "If it's some unthinkable pile of gold, what's the point?"
19:16 <Skaya> "How much is it?" Skaya asks curiously.
19:22 <•Kotono> "20,000," Is the answer back, "By surface coins, since I imagine you're most familiar with them. Otherwise, 200 large pearls."
19:29 <Devar> Devar hums once. "It is expensive." He says, "But it solves a lot of issues."
19:29 <•Kotono> "Expensive," Sanda echos, "I hate spending that much for one thing, but..." A long, awkward trail off as she thinks.
19:29 <Skaya> "I heard of a bottle like that," Skaya muses, peering at the couple. "But it required one to constantly breathe from it. This sounds like a more advanced version of it?
19:30 <•Kotono> "Yes, you open it and it does all the work. No need to breathe from it or hold it," Liam answers, "It won't stop working as long as its open."
19:32 <Skaya> "Between that and a decent radius of the spread of air, it'd do a lot of work," Skaya voices. "A bit more expensive than what I figured, but it's worth that. Devar, I can contribute just short of a fourth of the sum. How about you?"
19:33 <Devar> "I have around 7,000 before we factor in anything from the dwarven ruins." He says.
19:33 <Skaya> "Anne?"
19:33 <•Kotono> "I'd much lke the bottle, and pending that, I'll contribute. I'd much like to try breathing in and blowing this bottle of air." Anne agrees.
19:34 <•Kotono> "I'll throw some in, too," Rina says, "I like our healing and our spellcasters to work, thank you."
19:36 <Skaya> "Seems like we're destined for that bottle," Skaya says cheerfully. "Ah, since we're here and all, do you have anything uniquely suited for someone like me?"
19:37 <•Kotono> "Not particularly," Is the answer, "You're a master of none but student of many. We specialize in scrolls more than anything else, the bottle is your good fortune."
19:39 <Skaya> "It really is," Skaya agrees.
19:40 <Skaya> OOC: loot post
19:41 <Devar> "Speaking of, Skaya, you never did see that invisible thing, right? Is it possible it's... not invisible but just can't be perceived somehow? Maybe they have a scroll that can help."
19:42 <Skaya> "Could be," Skaya agrees, before asking the shopkeepers, "If even the see invisibility spell fails to reveal a massive flying fortress, it might be covered by a stronger spell. Do you have a scroll that can pierce that?"
19:45 <•Kotono> "True Seeing is the best," Liam says, "Expensive, but it's meant to overcome almost anything like that."
19:46 <•Kotono> Lady Isaleen hums at that, and distantly murmurs, "To see everything unclouded and as it is. The sight of angels, it is said."
19:47 <Skaya> If only they could just summon an angel-- "We can give it a try," Skaya tells her friends. "If that fails, let's teleport. How about it?"
19:50 <Devar> Devar nods. "Being able to stay together is importanr."
19:50 <Devar> OOC: important, too
19:50 <•Kotono> "We can try," Sanda decides, "What's the worst that could happen?"
19:51 <•Kotono> "At the least, there's worse ideas," Anne confirms.
19:51 <Devar> "The money is wasted, I guess."
19:51 <Skaya> OOC: Do we have any teleport scrolls, btw?
19:51 <•Kotono> OOC: Not unelss you or Devar have one in your inventories.
19:53 <Devar> OOC: we used the one I had a while back
19:56 <•Kotono> OOC: That would be a no for any on hand for the good guys, at least. To be honest, Anne's planning to bring that up herself, and it's crossed Sanda's mind too.
19:59 <•Kotono> "Speaking of such important matters," Anne speaks up here, "Do you have scrolls of teleportation or similar magic? We could use some."
20:00 <•Kotono> roll 1d100 good odds at least don't roll super low
20:00 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 good odds at least don't roll super low --> [ 1d100=6 ]{6}
20:02 <•Kotono> "Yes, but," LIam begins, and Rina winces in almos tperfect tandem with Liza, the words you never want to hear. "They're keyed scrolls."
20:03 <Skaya> "Keyed to where?"
20:07 <•Kotono> "Keyed to a certain type of creature," Is the answer, "From humans to particular faiths to hair color."
20:08 <•Kotono> "Why?" Rina asks, "Why would someone make scrolls like that?"
20:08 <•Kotono> Liza hms, "I've heard of it on occasion, but usually for targeted reasons. It's a rare and not very useful ability, usually."
20:08 <Skaya> "Think of it like a cursed scroll!"
20:10 <•Kotono> "Same principles but different," LIam says, "I can let you look through those, if you want to find one that you might be able to use."
20:14 <Devar> "We may as well look." Devar says.
20:17 <•Kotono> With that the party checks and...
20:17 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
20:17 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=84 ]{84}
20:17 <•Kotono> There's a bunch. It takes a little time to check, but it's Sanda who lets out an, "Ah hah! I can use this one," She holds one up, "And I think you can use this one, Devar."
20:19 <Devar> "How much are these?" He asks.
20:22 <•Kotono> "They're hard to move," Liam admits, "I'll let you have both for 1,000 gold, since you bought that bottle."
20:25 <Devar> "They work to bring other people regardless of being keyed, right" Devar clarifies.
20:29 <•Kotono> "They do, so long as the caster can cast it," Is the agreement you get back, as Sanda hunches over a pile of scrolls, holding two up.
20:32 <Devar> He nods. "If we can afford them, let's do it."
20:34 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay then, any other purchases or things to do here?
20:35 <Skaya> OOC: Let's return to Miss Spine's place. If the ring can't teleport us all, we'll need to try buying a high-CL scroll of teleport there.
20:40 <•Kotono> One teleport later gets you back. Back into the water and outside of it. On the plus side, the doors are proverbially open again and ready for business.
20:41 — Skaya heads inside!
20:42 <•Kotono> Spine is not there. Instead a large, human sized jellyfish is there. IT speaks without a mouth, "Oh, hello there," A man's voice greets you, upbeat and pleasant. "Skaya, Devar, Sanda and friends. Lady Spine mentioned all of you before."
20:43 <Skaya> "Except Liza, our new friend," Skaya says, introducing the elf. "We wanted to stop by for a visit."
20:47 <•Kotono> Liza looks on curiously, while Anne looks a little ill. She swims backwardsa s, "Oh, well then! I'll let Lady Spine know you're here. She's freshening herself after an excursion out, but she shouldn't be long."
20:48 <Skaya> "Thanks so much! We heard she was busy with all the excitement around here."
20:51 <•Kotono> As the jellyfish swims off, "She was," it calls back, soon gone.
20:51 <•Kotono> "That was cut-" Sanda begins.
20:51 <•Kotono> "Finish that and I'll never heal you again," Anne says, voice sounding nauseous.
20:52 <Skaya> "You need to learn to accept non-humanoids at some point," Skaya feel obliged to tell Anne.
20:57 <•Kotono> "Jellyfish should not be that large," Anne shivers again all over, "All of that is so..ugh!"
20:58 <Skaya> "Cute?" Skaya innocently suggests.
20:58 <•Kotono> "We're already underwater. It doesn't get much worse," Rina says, then grins at Skaya's turn of phrase.
20:58 <•Kotono> "Adorable," Sanda seconds.
20:58 <•Kotono> "Huggable?" Liza even joins in.
20:58 <Skaya> "If you're immune to acid, sure!"
20:58 <•Kotono> Anne looks to Devar, with the silent hopefulness of someone seeking support in dark times.
20:59 <Devar> "You have to go with the flow." Devar says with a bright smile.
21:01 <•Kotono> Anne mutters dark, unkind words and looks queasy. Soon enough, however, Lady Spine swims out. "Welcome back, fair customers," she greets. "Without Nibelle hanging from you this time, no less."
21:02 <Skaya> "We still strive to lead interesting lives," Skaya says, smiling at Spine in greeting.
21:07 <•Kotono> "So you do. Are events on the surface tempestious?"
21:07 <•Kotono> OOC: Gah.
21:08 <•Kotono> "So you do. Are events on the surface tempestious?" Lady Spine considers, "Or do you merely seek magical treasures to buy and sell?"
21:10 <Devar> "Both, in a sense." Devar says with a smile.
21:10 <Skaya> "We found an invisible flying castle of ancient undead," Skaya eagerly reports. "As well as a preserved ruin from the war of the gods. Before those two, a lava dragon appearing is just a side note!"
21:13 <•Kotono> A long pause, "I suggest against the castle," Lady Spine says at last, "Unless you wish to join the restless dead."
21:14 <Skaya> "They were very strong, but I think we can take them down," Skaya tells her. "Do you know something about the castle we don't?"
21:21 <•Kotono> "Yes. History is a study of mine," Lady Spine explains, "That castle is old, heroes for ages have come to miserable ends there. Those in charge of it are content to harvest high flying magical creatures and such, and leave civilization alone."
21:22 <•Kotono> Sanda lets out a little glub-noise of annoyance,  "That sounds like let the monsters keep being monsters talk."
21:22 <Skaya> "When we went looking for it, Anne and I went far past the others and somehow the undead abducted me," Skaya tells Spine. "You don't think they'll try again after I escaped?"
21:28 <•Kotono> "They aren't aggressive," Spine says, "They harvest creatures that fly too high for mortality, or too low for the stars."
21:28 <Skaya> "Just how stronger does the leadership get? Because really, judging by the welcome party we could deal with them."
21:29 <•Kotono> "You know them, don't ou?" Anne asks, "You speak of them as if you know them."
21:30 <•Kotono> "Strong. Archmages. Do you judge a house by only its front door and its gardeners?" Lady Spine asks back, "SHould you wish to challenge them regardless, I suggest all your strength, everything you can put together, and your wills and last testaments filled out in case you err."
21:32 <Skaya> "You know, if I do settle down and run an inn, even my waitresses should be able to survive against whatever comes after me. So I actually do judge the house by its front door guards!"
21:35 <•Kotono> "Well then, in that case, dear customers, do you have anything to purchase for this?" Lady Spine then asks.
21:36 <•Kotono> Anne rubs her chin while Sanda looks unfazed.
21:37 <Skaya> "Would you recommend something? We found a way around the air issue with an over-eager bottle of air, and darkness is easy enough to penetrate with light magic, but you might have something to make things easier for us!"
21:39 <Devar> "Or if you think we need to be stronger, somewhere or something we can challenge?" Devar asks.
21:43 <•Kotono> A few moments of thought, "If you want a battle," Lady Spine smiles slowly, "I have just the place. Have you ever heard of the Teardrop Trench?"
21:44 <Devar> Devar shakes his head, but glances at Sanda since she loves her knowledge.
21:50 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for K:Georgraphy for 31 (inspiration)
21:55 <•Kotono> Skaya recalls it's something in the ocean, a place where some sort of dark group lives. Something to do with sharks.
21:55 <Skaya> "Some place with a shark gang, was it?"
21:59 <•Kotono> "Yes," Lady Spine says, "Plus the depths of the ocean hide stronger creatures they hunt. If you simply wan tto test your strength and grow stronger, it is a good place. Dark and cold as well."
22:00 <Skaya> Right, she forgot about the cold again. More resistance spells it is.
22:01 <Skaya> "It's certainly a good trial run of our preparations," Skaya admits. "But I can't recall enough about them to be sure we need to actually attack them. Are they basically bandits and pirates?"
22:03 <•Kotono> "Yes, they're mostly organized into loose groups," Is the explanation, "It's not quite anarchy, but it's not far from it."
22:03 <•Kotono> "All the more reason to straighten some of them out," Anne reflects, "Anarchy tears down by its nature."
22:04 <Skaya> "How should we get there? I've never actually visited the area, so relying on teleport would be risky."
22:11 <•Kotono> "Travel or paying someone to teleport you," Lady Spine says, just a bit pointedly. "Of course such can be arrainged."
22:12 <Skaya> OOC: How far would it be to actually travel?
22:13 <•Kotono> OOC: She hasn't mentioned.
22:13 <•Kotono> OOC: Your check is a fair point, but we're over so we'll get an answer to that...next time!
22:13 <Skaya> "How much would it cost to teleport over there? And how long would the travel time be otherwise?" Skaya asks.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

19:15 <•Kotono> "A week and 4 large pearls," Is the answer you get.
19:16 <•Kotono> "Fiv ehundred?" Anne does the math, "Not ruinous, at least. Better than traveling for a week."
19:20 <Skaya> "I think we should pay gratefully!"
19:24 <Devar> "It sounds like a good opportunity." Devar agrees.
19:26 <•Kotono> "All we need is some time fo rpreparation," Rina says, "And to refresh our spells, so when?"
19:26 <•Kotono> "The sooner the better," Sanda says, "It sounds profitable and worthwhile. Plus once we've been there, we can return on our own."
19:29 <•Kotono> "That's another point," Liza sniffs, "One trip and we can advance there at our own pace."
19:32 <Skaya> "Do we actually need to refresh any spells?" Skaya asks curiously. "I suppose preparation for the cold and for some light is in order?"
19:32 <Devar> "I can handle both of those." Devar says. "The only thing I've really used today is some of the power from a Rod, so I'm fine."
19:32 <•Kotono> "Water breathing, mostly," Sanda says as she thinks, "But that's an important one."
19:36 <Skaya> "Is it, though? What about the bottle of air?"
19:36 <•Kotono> "Whenever you are ready, I will take you. The trip does take only a few moments." Sanda remarks coolly.
19:37 <•Kotono> "Does it work underwater well enough?" Sanda counters, "We don't know."
19:37 <Skaya> OOC: There's too many Sandas!
19:37 <•Kotono> OOC: Sorry, I'm RL distracted, lemme revise.
19:37 <•Kotono> "Does it work underwater well enough?" Anne counters, "We don't know."
19:37 <Skaya> "How about we first test it somewhere here?" Skaya proposes, asking Spine, "Would it cause any issues?"
19:48 <•Kotono> "It shouldn't. There's lots of open water," Spine says, quite calmly.
19:48 <•Kotono> "A quick swim out and test shouldn't take long," Anne agrees, "Shall we?"
19:48 <Skaya> "Let's go and have a look!" Skaya agrees.
19:51 <Devar> Devar nods and will follow!
19:55 <•Kotono> A quick test show sit pushes out air. It slowly forms a bubble of air around itself, but it takes a little time, abou5 rounds to make a bubble big enough for a person.
19:55 — Skaya tries to see how easy it is to disrupt, and then, whether moving fast with the bottle moves the bubble or tears it apart.
19:57 <•Kotono> It pushes a steady stream of air out, so not that easy. Movement within the bubble seems fine, but moving ina nd out fast enough can make it wobble and some of it push in or outward.
19:59 <Skaya> "What do you think?" Skaya asks. "I'd have taken the risk myself, but since I don't need it I really want to hear from you guys."
20:01 <•Kotono> "It's no my risk, either," Anne agrees, saying no more.
20:01 <•Kotono> *not
20:01 <•Kotono> "I'd like something a little stronger. Maybe a back up scroll or potion of water breathing?" Rina swims around the bubble to be sure, poking at it.
20:02 <•Kotono> Liza considers it, "One more would be a good safe guard if something goes wrong. Two continegencies should be enough. These mostly sound like brutes, anyway.
20:02 <•Kotono> "
20:02 <Skaya> "Sure. We can always sell the scroll if we don't need it, so why not buy one?" Skaya muses.
20:06 <Devar> "Makes sense." Devar says. "I can also prepare the spell in case of an emergency."
20:10 <•Kotono> OOC: Going to purchase a scroll of waterbreathing then? Post the expense in loot real quick and we'll get this rolling.
20:12 <Skaya> OOC: post
20:17 <•Kotono> WIth that all of you gather around Spine. It's a flash of a few seconds, a sense of movement, and you're elsewhere. Here the seas are darker, less light from above. Chillier too, as you rest in a little recess deep in the ocean floor. A place where an outcropping of black rock shields you from view in most directions. "Here," Spine says, "Go straight ahead, you'll see it almost immediately."
20:17 <Skaya> "Thank you!"
20:24 — Skaya prepares a defensive spell while she lets the bottle of air build up some steam.
20:24 <Skaya> roll 1d10+8 false life
20:24 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d10+8 false life --> [ 1d10=2 ]{10}
20:25 <•Kotono> Anne nods to her before Spine vanishes and everyone looks around. Liza likewhile readies herself, while Sanda is ready to swim on. Rina lets out a soft, long suffering sigh, "It's for a good cause, but I hate that it means I'm going into deeper water."
20:26 <Devar> "Well, the good news is magic can protect you from the brunt of what's here." Devar says.
20:27 <Skaya> "Also! Try to keep us warm!"
20:32 <Devar> "Do you want the cold protection now?" Devar asks. "It should last a few hours." He says.
20:33 <Skaya> "Ah, actually I'm good, but otherwise...?"
20:34 <•Kotono> ""Go ahead," Rina says immediately.
20:34 <•Kotono> "Please" Liza adds, "It's cold down here."
20:34 <•Kotono> Rina shivers afterwards, looking like a wet, miserable thing.
20:36 <Devar> Devar casts the protection! OOC: Mass Resist Energy against cold, 20 points worth.
20:44 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay, make a note of that.
20:44 <•Kotono> OOC: It'll matter here, so general marching order? Just so I know for the entire thing.
20:45 <Skaya> OOC: Devar, Anne, Sanda (air bottle handed to her), Skaya, Liza, Rina
20:50 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake
