Sterling heaves a put-upon-sounding sigh.  "Stupid re-release of the World of Darkness.  Well, that's fine, then.  We can just chill and play cards, or something.  We've got some time to spare."

"I don't particularly care - cards are fine. I was thinking about taking a nap though - a REAL nap. Those weird dreams aren't exactly restful, and if we're leaving at 4 am I won't be good for much if I don't get SOME kind of rest before then." Hal sounds a bit apologetic. "Not that I don't want to hang out, but I get really damn grumpy when I'm short on sleep."

"Cards is fine with me," Daniel nods.

Hell, maybe I might manage to master precognition for things other than my impending death... he thinks hopefully.

After some game playing and general relaxing, everything falls into a spate of rampant boredom.  This lapses into sleeping hours, eventually, and then Daniel, Tim, and Tom find themselves being shaken awake.  "Time to move," David says, glancing over to where Carlos and Walker are waking up.

Ryan is sitting in a corner, staring into the shadows pensively.

Daniel nods, scooping up his duffel bag as he gets up off the couch and checks he has everything he brought with him.

"Whereabouts in America are we going, this time?" he asks, approaching the corner Ryan is in.

Brian

"Arizona," he says after a pause.  "There's a trailer park...."  He trails off and shrugs.

"What he means to say," Jim clarifies, "is that the last we heard of them they were in a trailer park in Arizona.  We'll be arriving a mile or so away from it and then walking in so as not to attract suspicion, and to make sure that the place isn't crawling with MiBs."

"Arizona," Hal says, shaking his head. "Of all the places we could end up, we'd go to the one that's hotter than Texas. At least it's January."

"Not that I've noticed it's very hot in the US," David comments.

"Yeah," Sterling says, looking somewhat thoughtful.  "If we're in Oz, then shouldn't it be summer here?  It's really not that warm.  It's actually kind of chilly."

"Well, according to Mercator projections, Australia and Antarctica are only a few steps apart," Carlos contributes.  After a moment of silence, he adds, "Not that those are accurately to scale.  We're actually much closer to the equator."

"Fascinating," Jim says dryly.  "From the man who apparently couldn't tell the difference between Scottland and England."

"It's a cold island with lots of fog and alcohol," Carlos says dismissively.

"I'm Scottish," Jim says, shooting Carlos a hard look.

"And I'm a fan of Redhat," Carlos says with a shrug.  "But I don't judge you."

This causes a few chuckles all around.  "Though, now that you guys bring it up ... didn't you mention something before about freaky weather?" Sterling asks.

"Melbourne weather is always freaky," comments Carthrat. "Though it's still pretty unusual for it to be this cold for this long; it's been a while, now, and it *is* midsummer."

Chuckling a bit at Carlos' quip, Daniel nods to Sterling. "Yeah, apparently the mysterious 'Enemy' that both groups of Men in Black are agitated about is making the Earth colder as a first step or somethin." He shakes his head, "Exactly how it does this is beyond me."

Halbarad

"It HAS been colder than usual," Hal agrees. "Not cold enough for snow though, at least at home." The last is said with a hint of a sigh.

"I heard it was just that nuclear winter thing," Walker says, frowning.  "It's snowing in California, according to the news."

"Yeah, but that's California. Even BEFORE the blast they didn't have normal weather."

"El Nino is a long way from snow in San Francisco, though," Sterling says, shaking his head.  "So, they say that the Enemy is somehow making things colder.  That's ... kind of freaky.

"Anyway.  Ryan can get us to the US, though he might need a few trips to get us all there without straining himself.  We've got two more potential allies to pick up and assemble ourselves into a regular wrecking crew.  But then where should we go?  We should probably have some kind of plan when our lives are on the line.  Usually it was just, 'Piss off the MIBs because they screwed us over', but now?  The stakes seem decidedly higher."

"The situation may deserve a bit more respect," Jim agrees.  "But I'm not the best planner, ever since operation, 'Hide until they go away' failed."

"Not a bad idea," Tim replies, taking a moment to think. "The question is where do we regroup? I'm assuming Ryan can get us just about anywhere in the world, given time, which gives us plenty of options. But we're going to need to figure out where the best place to be IS. The middle of the Amazon would probably be good if we're just out to hide, but if we plan on doing anything about this we'll probably need to be closer to civilization."

He glances around at the others. "Any ideas?"
