Rezantis

After the third ping, the tower fell silent once more...

The Magus waited for a moment, watching the tower, then ordered the group forward again, adding orders for special attention to the rest of the towers.
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Rezantis

OOC:  Time... passes.  :)

IC:

Around 5 minutes after, a soft hum was heard, emanating from slightly above and behind the group...

The Magus once more ordered a halt, looking up to see...
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Rezantis

A flat, delta shaped craft was slowly moving down towards them from the direction of the sound.  It was still at a fairly long distance, but it was clearly pointing in their direction.

"Sir... this is definitely no school of fish."

The Magus pointed, and the group began to make their way toward the craft.

The craft slowed; still being quiet distant, and from it's wingtips waves upon waves of sonic energy pulsed out towards the squad.

Unlike the more delicate 'pings' that were used for sonar, the variable-amplitude waves of Inquisition sonic cannons tended to be rather a great deal more debilitating on their targets.

The Magus, unable to discern the strength of the waves accurately, but sensing them to be at least minorly hazardous, forced the second shield into place, forming a sort of translucent egg-shell sphere around the group while at the same time reinforcing the shield with his will.

The shield shuddered and wavered under the assault, but managed to keep the occupants safe; if somewhat shaken up.

Even as this happened, though, the craft heeled upwards and with a louder hum leaped forwards, quickly opening up the distance between itself and the fishmen squad...

OOC:  To be specific, you were heading west; it came at you from the high-southeast, and just whizzed off to the northwest...

As the craft pulled away, the Magus ordered the squad to about-face and began swiming back the way they had come, prepping several more spell webs in case he would need to use them. The confirmation of human encampment MUST get through!

And so, the fishman heeled around and started swimming northeast, while the hum itself faded to almost imperceptible...

They continued to swim northeast, the Magus abandoning the null-detection shield in favor of reinforcing the currently-passive force shield and beefing up the attack spells. They moved very quickly, no longer trying to hide thier position at all.

The group continued Northeast for quite some time, when one of the weapons platforms from previously came into view some way ahead of them.

The main turret was pointing away from them and unmoving, as where all smaller dish-shaped objects.

They increased their speed a bit, moving to overtake the platform. The Magus stared warily at it.

Rezantis

The platform ignored them completely as they approached it, remaining completely dead as if unaware of their existence...

It was now very close.
