...swims a turtle. But not just any turtle, for this is the Great A'Tuin, upon whose back is carried the four elephants who in turn bear the mighty Disc upon their shoulders. And upon the Disc lies its greatest of cities, the twin metropolis of Ankh-Morpork - often compared to the gutter outside Crazy Akbar's Take-Away Curry Bar, although the smell is rather stronger.

I'm thinking of giving a Discworld game a try here on the boards. Most likely under a diceless system, and the theme will be something in a mystery vein. For those not familiar with the world, it's very much a humorous one (as I hope my introduction has hopefully demonstrated, at least slightly) although more geared towards dry and witty humor, rather than slapstick (although the latter does appear from time to time).

For those interested, a couple of rules to bear in mind. First, keep in mind that you're not going to be outstanding citizens, so keep your abilities within reason. Secondly, original characters ONLY. I don't want to see Sir Samuel, or a carbon copy of him, showing up in the game. Aside from that, post away if you're interested at all.

The game pace will probably be slowish; probably one fairly decent length post per person, per day. If you've got any questions, drop me a PM here on the boards or drop me a line on IRC, where I'm usually found under the nick Usagi-chan (for those who don't know me).

I think I can safely say that I'd be interested in a Discworld game...

Dracos

Good luck.  As with Bjorn's, I'm interested, but can't commit to another game in any honesty at the moment.  So I'll be watching from the shadows cheerin' ye lugs on.

Would we have to know anything about the Discworld series?

Bjorn

You should know everything about the Discworld series.

It would probably help for the game, too.

I'd like to play, but unfortunately, I'm overcommitted.  However, if Hal kills off one of my current GMs and/or half the players of Overlords, I'd reconsider!

Halbarad

Take the time to consider it, certainly. I'm planning for a VERY slow, measured pace for this game, so hopefully it won't be too overtaxing on anyone. Possibly one post per person every 2-3 days, but a good, meaty post when you do.

Count me in.  I didn't have time to think up a character yet, but I'll do so very soon.

Y'all finally got me interested enough with Pratchett. :)

If you're interested, start PMing me character profiles. I'm getting things organized on my end, so I'll need your character information to get everyone set up.

Detailed backgrounds are a big plus, but at least give me enough to place your character somewhere in the city for starting the game.
