it's difficult to articulate

sr. dev and (recently) hired pm got into a yelling match

sr. dev pointed out some really good points about things that were being assigned to me that should not be my job

he was basically shouted out and otherwise ignored

my job should be hardware compat, no bs perf. testing

new revisions to my job go from 6-8 day testing cycle to 9-14 day testing cycle, up to double that for legacy support, because they really want the perf. testing

i propose, 'hey, why not make a new role/suite for perf testing to make it separate and give it the attention it deserves?'

'that would be too expensive in terms of time'

even though the amount of time spent would be identical, it would just be a 'stage two' where i would complete testing and handoff to someone else to finish -- or even continue myself but on a different testing matrix

don't understand

'oh, by the way, we're going to need to requal every disk we've ever had with the new upcoming controller'

i don't have all disks ever

'and we need it done early enough in q4 that sales can move units'

so trebling or quadrupling my workload

Getting lectured for a bunch of crap that has jack all to do with me was not pleasant. Said lecturer finding out they blamed the wrong person and instead of apologizing, acting like nothing happened is down right frustrating.

Evidently people can't tell when I'm joking in person.  I'd heard it before and always just dismissed it, since I usually tend to try and be silly.

I realized today I have a crippling social flaw that probably creeps people out:
