I just purchased WoD: Ghost Stories.  I've been reading through it and I've found some stuff I like, some I don't, and some I don't have any idea either way.  I was thinking of doing something with it and then I realized how much more effective this book would be in an online game than one IRL.  Namely because of the use of the PM button.

The basic premise is that you're normal mundane humans.  No fancy powers.  No super elite military special secret ops training.  Just an every day person that wanders down the street.  Maybe more competent than a normal human but not vastly so.  One that's about to get exposed to the supernatural world.

I was thinking of taking a slightly different approach towards the actual RP as I mentioned before.  When everyone is together or at least with other people we'd post as normal on the board.  But whenever someone is by themselves I could PM them what's happening to them.  The rest of the group just doesn't know after all.  So if you're by yourself you could get killed, possessed, etc and nobody would know until they found you(and maybe not even then if the possessing entity is subtle).  The style I'd be going for is horror/mystery obviously.  You've got to solve whatever is going on while at the same time wondering each time that you wander off by yourself "is something going to happen to me?" or if someone else wanders off "did something happen to them?  Can I trust them?".

Group size I'm leaning towards 4 or 5 players.  I figure that's enough people for fun without overburdening the game.  A relaxed posting rate.  Maybe 3 times a week?  More if everyone happens to be on?

Realize I'm not very experienced at GMing stuff so this will be a learning experience for me(another reason I want a slower post rate, lets me think a bit before posting as opposed to being a player where you have less to worry about).

So does this sound interesting to anyone?  Or should I just shelve the book?

I know nothing of WoD games (well, besides that WoD stands for world of darkness), and obviously, have none of the books. If we don't need the books, or you'd be willing to provide a source/scan, I'm sorta interested.
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

I'd be up, provided that you can guarantee the slow pacing.
I also know nothing aboud WoD. In fact, I know nothing about this at all, being the first online RP I've been interested in.
Provided I don't need to know much, I'm game.

I can guarantee the slow pacing.  I have trouble with fast paced RPs.  It's hard to keep up.

As for the WoD system, knowledge of it isn't necessary.  I'm just stealing stories from the Ghost Stories book and modifying them as necessary as it's easier than creating from scratch.  Emphasis would be on RPing and problem solving.  And hopefully making everyone nervous.

Once enough people express an interest and we get to the nuts and bolts of character creation I'm going to be most interested in a well developed character.  I'm also going to want everyone to know at least one other person IC already so bringing everyone together is easier.  Since this is supposed to be normal people being exposed to the supernatural it's not as easy bringing strangers together as it would be in a traditional fantasy campaign.  The whole "Lets kill the dragon for lots of gold" just doesn't work.  Hence having the characters already have some sort of relationship whether as coworkers, friends, family, etc.
