How is this combat going to work?   I'd like to know what sort of post you're expecting before I draft a reply.

Priss

I'm going fairly freeform, so don't expect dice rolls or anything.

At any rate, description is a definately must.  If you just say "Moonshadow swings at goblin A." ... I'll probably declare you missed.  I might not, but I probably will.   Tell me about the how she is swinging the weapon, where she's aiming on the goblin assuming she's aiming at all.  Tell me about her emotions, is she scared? Determined?  Paniked?  Is she doing anything special, like casting a spell (if so _please_ let me know what kind of effect it _should_ have in OCC at the bottom of the post, or I'll be forever looking up spells since my characters never use them. Of course, that doesn't mean that it actually _will_ have that effect after all.)  or readying a magical device/weapon?  Tell me about it.  Describe it to the best of your abilities.

One of the things I've seen in good RPGs set up like this is that the story flows through the various posts.  This flowing nature is accomplished by descriptions of what things look like, how things feel, the emotions going through the people.  Things like that.  So, if you can make me _believe_ that the attack or whatnot should work, chances are much higher that it _will_ work.  There could be mitigating factors involved that you won't, or sometimes shouldn't, know about, but that's beside the point.

On the other hand though, godmode moves _Won't_ work.  As in not at all, and anyone who tries it (though with this group I rather doubt anyone would) will find themselves with penelties, possibly in-game, possibly out, depending on the method of godmode.

Admittedly, goblins are fairly low level creatures.  The highest one in this bunch would probably be level five or six if I bothered to figure it up.  However, they're not easy kills.  Keep things like this in mind.  No one is going to be scything through hordes of any kind of monsters with ease.  Not even Rackham in full beserker rage would be able to do that.

You might find that I handle monsters a little differently than some.  If it's too much or too little, I can always adjust.  But my methods and ideas are likely a bit unusual.  You'll see.

Ooook.  About not using OOC in the main thread.  Let's just say, that's silly.  If we have to jump between the two threads, there will be a lot of confusion, especialy if it's over minor things.

Plus you specificaly told us to use OOC in posts at least for spell descriptions.

The OOC thread should be for major stuff like Herb's question, 'Working 24/7 this month and can't post', and for stuff only semi-related to the game.  It shouldn't pull our attention away from the main thread.  We should minimize OOC stuff in the game thread, but shouldn't completely stop.

I was referring to stuff like your comment about how your computer was up and down and you needed your character sheet forwarded to you.

(BTW...  Yeah, I can send your character sheet to IY, but it'd be easier to email it.   Nabiki doesn't like me.  ^_^;)

However, I was planning on putting a brief rundown on how many goblins there are and things like that on the OOC board.  Plus, I made a point of writing up a description of how the combat should work so that we wouldn't get OOC comments like "Ticha is going to do this and that throughout the combat".  After all, if the thread goes to another page or two past it, looking back just to figure out what someone is supposed to be doing is going to take up quite a bit of time.  -_-;

...

Oh come on, with his speed, Rackham should have reached at least ONE.  O_O

Rackham and Nirae get no breaks...

Why, oh why wasn't I born rich?

Priss

He has.  In fact, he's reaching several.   But I was in a hurry when I made that post and just managed to get the gist of what I wanted to put down before I had to run off again.  ^_^;

Herbie...

To the best of my knowledge, High Elves cannot see in total darkness, like what we are in.  Also, the Eyes of the Eagle don't provide the vision enhancement of infravision.   See... to the best of my knowledge, elves only have Lowlight vision.  However, there is no light around to enhance to give you vision in the dark.

I was willing to let it slide earlier because I was assuming that there was still a little bit of light, but we're deep in the forest in nearly total darkness, not quite the unending depth of black that is the Underdark, but still there isn't any surrounding lights to enhance.  And I've actually _said_ so much in game.

So... I ask you this.  How is Moonshadow seeing the goblins well enough to use that "unerring accuracy"?

From what you describe in the text, she can see them.   I'm not getting a description saying "something which you cannot see is hurling rocks from the darkness", am I?   I'm assuming that I can at least fire on the 'near total darkness' line of the concealment chart, essentially.

If the "vague glimmerings of the moon" aren't good enough for her "unerring elfin skill", then Moonshadow will do something about it - since she can create moonlights as a free action, it won't even slow her down,

Figment

Ok... so Ticha hides in plain sight... which means that the DC for the goblins to see her is anywhere from 55 to 74.

I'd like to know what sort of uber-senses the goblins have that allow them to even see her, let alone hit her on the back of the head with a rock.

Waiting for the replies to these inquires to Rackham can continue butt-kicking ^^

For the record, Rackham has Goggles of the Night which allow him to see in the dark.  And the post describing goblins climbing into trees was to him.  And... I still don't know about "unerring elfen accuracy" just because that would affectively eliminate any chance of missing... which isn't likely.  Also... they're in the trees, surrounded by branches which gives them anywhere from 1/4 to 5/6 cover at any given moment... and no one has actually looked for the goblins in the trees so as far as I'm going with, no one knows where in the trees they are.  All anyone really knows is that they went _up_ the trees and now rocks and sticks and things are being flung down _out_ of the trees.

And there were more than just two rocks coming from behind you.  Two just managed to hit the two of you, Xal.  And as I said, no damage, just a sudden pain.

Well, my spell definately does not need fine targeting and I'm would bet a couple gold pieces that quite a few goblins are experiencing heart failure at this moment.

Ok, just dumb luck then.  I can live with that. ^^;
