That's just....

What are you trying to link?  The tribute videos? ???
Well, Goodbye.

Brian

Huh, that was odd.  I think I was trying to be clever with URL tags to conceal the page name, and got distracted.

sarsaparilla

I had heard about it but never seen the cover with my own eyes. That's just ... ugh, words fail me. It's like something that has slipped in from a twisted parallel universe.

Well, us Americans couldn't handle animation from Japan back then ... that's around the era of Carl Macek and the wonders that are/is (?) Robotech.

Hoo, boy, I grew up on that cartoon.  And then I watched the Japanese version.

What a trip!

I spent ten minutes desperately trying to find that page I saw a while ago with dialogue samples of the thing. I remember there being a bit that goes basically like this:

QuoteNausica^H^H^H "Zhandra": But you can't possibly be that evil!

Princess Kushana (sounding incredibly smug about it): Oh, but I am!

*viewer suffocates due to attempting to laugh and cry simultaneously*

Actually, now that I remembered that bit, I'm weirdly tempted to just hunt down a copy and sample it for the camp value.

I've watched the Star Wars Christmas Special. I wish it was camp.

It was just plain atrocious, and this is a guy who isn't even a big fan of the series.

Brian

Yeah, pretty much what I was implying about Warriors of the Wind. >_>;;;

Oh, wow. This is the funniest one of these I've seen in a while.

Brian

I loved that one.  Something about him whining over Kyousuke really sells it.

Star Wars Christmas Special?

Due to Miyazaki having completely failed to put in long 15-minute scenes consisting of nothing but Wookies growling at one another without any subtitles or explanations, I have to say that 'Warriors of the Wind' was forced to become awful through strategic omission as opposed to through adding new stuff.

I have to say I am morbidly curious what would have resulted, had the same mad insane person who designed the VHS cover actually had the resources to turn the movie into a He-man crossover.

Speaking of cash-grabs and the general devaluation of anything short of profit (Drac and I had an ... interesting discussion about that and Ikea furniture before watching Paprika):

Stomach-churning.  I actually worked for Zynga for a week and a half.  This is one of the major reasons I couldn't convince myself to stay there longer.

Well, also the commute and the manager who swore at us all the time -- not a professional workshop by any means.
